About what you asked me to think about yesterday, I already thought it over both while asleep and awake. I still feel the same. That means I really like you.
Kang wants to ask you something. Ask him what you want to know, Kang. Ask him. I wanted to ask if you’re fully recovered. I saw you walking around. You must be fully recovered. Kang, do you know you sound a bit angry? It’s my normal voice.
How do you do, fellow kids? The kooky language lady's here to talk your ears off about the puns and pick up lines in this trailer! The English equivalents are excellent, I'm just here because I can't shut up about Thai 🤡
Disclaimer: not a native Thai speaker, still learning 🙏
เบื่อแล้วเป็นไข้ อยากเป็นคนที่ใช้มากกว่า /beuua laaeo bpen khai. yaak bpen khohn thee chai maak gwaa/ = I'm tired of being feverish, I'd rather be the right person.
เป็นไข้ก็ได้ ไข้เธอไม่ดาด ขาด- [เธอไม่ได้] /bpen khai gaaw dai. khai ter mai daat, khaat- [ter mai dai]/ = Having a fever's fine then! My you-fever isn't normal, without- [you I can't be].
He gets cut off by a fed-up Kang lol but it's obvious that his joke was gonna continue the way I put into brackets there. This type of word play is pretty common in Thai, I'd say? It's called คำผวน /kham phuaan/ and is basically a spoonerism.
ปาท่องโก๋ยังมีคู่ ส่วนตัวหมูไม่มีใครนะครับ /bpaa thaawng goh yang mee khuu. suuan dtuua Moo mai mee khrai na khrap/
ปาท่องโก๋ /bpaa thaawng goh/ is a fried dough snack that usually comes in pairs/two halves stuck together so it's become synonymous for being inseparable, like two peas in a pod for example.
I love you จริง ๆ ไม่ ginger OR ไม่จิ้นเจ้อ /I love you jing jing, mai ginger OR mai jin juuhr/ = I love you for real, not gingering* OR I love you for real, not dreaming up nonsense.
I'm not 100% sure on the second half of what Moo says here but if it's the first one: the Thai word for ginger is *ขิง /khing/ which is also slang for to boast, brag, show off so- "I love you for real, not boasting."
Edit: I love you จริง ๆ ไม่จิงโจ้ /i love you jing jing, mai jing joh/
As @happypotato48 explained: in thai using words that sounds alike instead of original ones is meant to give the words opposite or distorted meaning, in this case "i love you จริงๆไม่จิงโจ้" = "i really really love you, no lying."
ไอ้ห่า สุนทรภู่เข้าสิงมึงไงวะ /ai haa, Sunthorn Phu khao sing meung ngai wa/ = Damn it, are you possessed by Sunthorn Phu or what?
-> Sunthorn Phu is a famous Thai poet from the Rattanakosin period (18th-19th century)
<< I previously talked about the title, the character names, the then-draft of the now-OST's lyrics etc. when the pilot trailer first came out last October
Only Boo! is truly a gem. It's reminded me of My School President, the whole cringe but super cute chemistry between Sea and Keen, the yearning acting of Ashi towards Aun's character, the comedy scene is genuinely funny and I love how different Kang and Moo personality is. I really hope more people would tune in and realize about how fun this series is 🥺
