95. Scream Bloody Gore - Death (Death Metal, 1987)
Art by Edward "Ed" J. Repka
This album is considered by many as the very first 'true' Death Metal record
“My lyrics are based more on the subject of death and real-life gore. I get a lot of ideas from seeing gore flicks. For example, "Torn To Pieces" is about the movie "Make Them Die Slowly", and "Scream Bloody Gore" is about "Re-animator" (Chuck Schuldiner for Metal Forces 1987)

Death - Leprosy
Another great record from death metal legends Death. As a kid I remember seeing this album as a random recommendation on YouTube and being creeped the fuck out by the album cover and clicking it because I liked to creep myself out as a little kid. What met me was an album I was not at all ready to enjoy. I didn’t get the screaming lyrics, didn’t get the amazing guitar riffs and speeding guitar solos, couldn’t appreciate the immaculate drumming and bass playing. Basically I was a little kid who didn’t know fuck all. But now my friends. Now I understand that this record absolutely fucks. I’m definitely not on the “Death is the greatest Death Metal band of all time” train, but I’ve grown to appreciate their specific brand of metal more and more as I listen to them.
