jokes aside, last night, i was looking at the tsot concept, like really thinking hard, squinting at it like....whyyyyy....don't i like this? because idk, i personally think the tsot plot premise was badass, but maybe i am delusional, lmao -- that tracks for me. but deadass, i was like why am i not attached to this for some reason also?

...for some reason, the tsot style was never that enticing to me as a writer? and i thought it was because it was too complicated bc of the high fantasy elements...bc despite me masquerading as a genius i am a Fooking Imbecile like i am a court jester, the town FOOL...smh.

-- or even that it was...too sweet and wholesome for me??? because stan is so devoted to kyle in tsot and they are so in love. they're so cute? which is wonderful and all but i am an Angst Girlie, not in terms of reading fanfic ( yes, i do think its ironic that i write multi chapter slowburn style fanfics and only like to read fluffy oneshots where they get together at the end bc i'm impatient & cannot burn in hell )

started thinking about mermaid horror movie :/

#i feel like it would have alien/atlantis vibes in my head #set in like the 30s or something #where an ensemble of 'expendable' characters get told to go check out proof of mermaid at xyz by rich scientist person #maybe prev crews have gone out and never come back but no one knows and so they sent lower class #i would probs play w the idea of sirens (ik theyre birds not fish but lets mix) being seen as manifestions of souls that have passed #and 'beating' them was beating your desires #so id have them like be people in the ensembles life that make them want to die #but we wouldnt know this until like the final 2/3 #(the characters still dont)#and then like... the final girl tries to fight back the most but ultimately succumbs to her desires/joins the dead #for some reason (a very obvious one) i Am seeing final girl as like a butch lover who lost her gf in a idk if she died or left kinda way #and then is faced w scary mermaid form of her (whether its hallucinatory or real its lft ambigious)#and i have an image of flashing between them kissing in water before and her being EATEN or something after #final shot being dead body floating in water

turns out all the random rules i impose on myself actually make my life worse instead of better. who could have guessed!

#talking tag #not me thats for sure!#trying to break them more and more often....its making things better #things like finishing anything once ive started it so that i can say i completed it #no longer punishing myself by slogging thru books/fics/shows/movies that i dont like #its so scary but exciting to be like i know we watched 20 minutes of this doc already but. i dont like it #and have my gf be like same ok lets do something else #and its like holy shit. this is possible????#also things like having to read 10 chapters of manga at a time #so i never read bc im like well im tired i could read 5 or 6 chapters but not 10...#and its like. actually i can read 3 chapters one day. and 12 another day! and nothing bad happens!#and then im actually reading the damn thing!!#i think like the overarching theme here is like. letting myself do just a little bit instead of imposing arbitrary goals on activities #i can take out my guitar and play 1 song and then put it back #i can play 15 minutes of a game and then stop.#seems strange but since i started working on this im finding that im actually DOING the things i want to do #instead of thinking ugh im too tired/dont have enough time to do (set amount in my brain)
