Trick or Treat? 🦇
Oooh happy Halloween!! ✨
Here’s a treat! 🍬 It's a little scene from SB:U that miiiight end up scrapped? It takes place after Manic is reunited with his siblings and they have to flee the island, but the relaxed vibe of the scene kinda removes the urgency from the story arc :( But I really like this scene, so I wanna share it!
Manic rhythmically knocks on the wall of the cave, twirling on his heel as he casually saunters further in. He can see Shadow’s shadow from around the corner, very obviously trying to ignore him.
“Yo man, you ignorin’ me?” He calls, rounding the corner. Shadow stands leaning against the wall, arms folded, staring out at nothing. Manic waves his hand in front of his face, making him grunt and pin him with a glare.
“Get out,” He snaps, turning away to walk further into the cave.
“Come on man,” Manic laughs, close on his heels. “You brought me here first. You, like, can’t get mad I’m here.”
“I can be mad at you for trying to convince me to leave. I don’t want to be seen with any of those fools.”
“Good thing we’re probably gonna be doing our best not to be seen, then.”
Shadow just glares at him again before turning back to face the wall and continuing his brooding silence. Manic sighs. “Look, man. I’m not trying to convince you to come with us. I just…” He shrugs, shoving his hands in his pockets. “I guess I’d just like it if you did.”
Shadow laughs at that, a sharp, incredulous bark of laughter. “Please,” He spits, “As if anyone in your stupid little group would want me around.”
“I do.”
Shadow freezes, whipping around to stare at him in confusion.
“I want you around.” Manic continues, awkwardly running his fingers through his quills. “I like you, man. I figured that was obvious by now.”
“You’re just saying that because I rescued you.”
“I mean, sure? I guess that’s the reason for it, yeah, but that doesn’t mean I don’t like you.” Shadow’s quiet, just staring at him, his expression unreadable. Manic shrugs again. “I’m not forcing you, man. If you really don’t wanna come, I’ll get out of your quills-“
“Wait.”
Manic stops in his tracks, turning to look back at Shadow. His brows are furrowed, eyes fixed somewhere on Manic’s torso, thinking.
“…Your bandages are coming loose.” He finally says, looking away. Manic glances down to confirm that yes, they have come loose, dirt and dried blood caked on them.
“Oh. Heh, guess I should probably take care of that-“ He’s cut off mid-sentence when Shadow grabs onto his wrist, pulling him across the room and tossing him into the beanbag chair. “Dude! At least take me out to dinner first!” He snarks, watching Shadow needlessly teleport around the room to grab a roll of bandages. He teleports back to his side, kneeling down to remove the old ones. Manic bounces his leg nervously, drumming his fingers on the scratchy fabric of the chair.
“I…” Shadow starts, before clearing his throat and glancing away. “Even if… You want me to go with you…” Manic winces as he tightens the fresh bandage around his arm. “The others… Don’t care for me.”
“I assumed that fight was just a misunderstanding.”
“We’ve fought before.”
“… How recently? Is that why you’re bleeding?”
Shadow blinks in surprise. “You noticed?” His blood is black, nearly impossible to see against his fur.
“Hey man, after ten years of looking at pretty much nothing else, you pick up on some stuff.”
“… Did you just say you stared at me for ten years straight?”
“What else was I supposed to look at, dude? Robuttnik? Sleet and Dingo’s ugly mugs? The wall?”
The puff of breath Shadow lets out could almost be mistaken for a laugh, the corners of his mouth curled upwards in amusement. Manic grins, proud of his achievement.
The medallion around his neck grows warm, signaling that his siblings were starting to grow impatient. Honestly, he was surprised it took this long. “I gotta head back,” he sighs, pushing himself up to his feet. They were inches apart now and Manic had to crane his neck upwards to look Shadow in the eyes. “You don’t have to come with if you want,” He continues, sidestepping around him, heading back to the entrance of the cave. “But I really hope you do.”

In SB:U I’ve had modern day Sonic with top surgery scars while he’s in a binder in all the flashbacks, I had never really given it much thought as to when he got his surgery done, just that he did at some point.
But I’ve been thinking about it recently, and realized that it would have had to happen after he moved to the island, and there’s only one person there who possibly could have done it.
So.
Eggman did his top surgery.
BUT I was thinking about it and I realized? That it could actually make for some really good backstory? BC obviously when Sonic and Tails first move to Bygone Island, Manic was literally JUST ‘killed’ by Julian, so Sonic’s obviously not gonna trust his son.
But maybe after their rocky start Eggman starts giving him little suggestions, like he shouldn’t wear a binder during strenuous battles or for longer than eight hours, and lyric’s sake don’t bind with sports tape?? Are you TRYING to get killed???
And like, obviously Sonic doesn’t trust these at first bc he’s, yknow, Julian’s son and he’s trying to take over the island, but maybe he tries just one of them out, and, oh huh, it actually works. And so he actually starts taking his advice more seriously and slowly comes to realize that while obviously he’s a Bad Guy, he’s not actually that bad of a guy.
And so maybe Sonic actually goes to him to get it done and it’s sort of a big moment in their relationship when they go from actual vitriolic enemies to just two dudes who beat the shit out of each other

Laid-Back Battle
Sonic Rebellion: Chapter 1 - Scene 1 (1st Draft)
I’ve been wanting to upload drafts, so I can show the progress I make on the series as I go. This’ll be queued, so it’s not going to upload exactly when I finish the draft, but I’ll be sure to upload them in order. Eventually, there’ll be updates and more drafts, until I finally upload the completed thing, but for now here’s the first draft!
Sonic shoots through the forest like a rocket, zigzagging through its maze-like paths as if it were second nature, the dense foliage barely managing to slow him down. He can feel the familiar rush of adrenaline rush through him as he flips upwards, crashing into two badniks before landing on the third in what he hoped to be a really cool-looking pose."Quit showing off!" Amy calls from the forest floor below. Her stance is wide, feet planted firmly in the ground to steady herself as she swings her hammer, smashing another badnik to pieces."Wait, are we showing off?" Knuckles turns his head to blink at Amy, and an opportunistic badnik swoops down on him the moment he looks away. He snatches it out of the air, slamming it into his fist and crushing it with his bare hands without even glancing in its direction. "Hang on, I gotta think of something cool to do."
Sonic rolls his eyes, flipping over backward to send the floating badnik he had been posing on hurtling into a tree. He lands deftly on the grass below, backflipping to kick another badnik out of commission. It spins off into Tails' direction, who quickly crouches to catch it. He reaches inside the smouldering hole Sonic had made, yanking out a handful of wires and sparking cords.
"Hey, did you change the types of circuits you use in these?" He calls, making Eggman pause his lazer fire."Well, yes, you mentioned last week that you were having an easier time after switching to a new type, so I thought I might give it a try.""It looks really good! Though you may want to rewire a few things, I noticed you're probably overloading the-""Tails!" Sonic interrupted, giving his little brother a what-on-mobius-do-you-think-you're-doing type look."Oh, yeah, sorry." Tails tosses a bomb over to two advancing badniks, shorting them out with a blast of electricity. They collapse in the grass, their metal shells falling off and piling around them. Eggman heaves a sigh, staring down at the mechanical carnage."Do you guys have any idea how hard it is to clean this stuff up?"Sonic simply shrugs, his snickering destroying his attempt at feigned ignorance.
"Well, now I'm gonna..." Eggman glances around his Eggmobile for something, anything to attack them with. "... Go back to my lair and think of something to destroy you with. I'll be back.""Seeya, Egghead!" Sonic waves, shouting at Eggman's retreating form. The moment he's out of sight, Sonic turns back to his friends. "How much do you wanna bet he's gonna come back with a robot we've already beaten before?""It's likely." Tails shrugs. "Honestly, it seems like he's starting to run out of ideas.""Maybe it's a budget issue?" Amy suggests, resting her hammer over her shoulder as she turns to head back to the village. The others chuckle, close on her heels.
The forest grows silent as the team of heroes leave to return home, only the quiet sparking of broken machines and wind rustling the leaves above. Sunlight glints off their metal exteriors, the smoke slowly dissipating in the gentle breeze. A rustle finally breaks the silence, a cloaked figure stepping out of the shadows to survey the destruction. Heels sink into the soft dirt below as they circle the robots, kneeling beside one to run their hand against its shell. They frown, looking over to the opening between the trees. They could just barely make out the heroes' retreating forms.

Amy’s Cards
Sonic Rebellion: Chapter 1 - Scene 2 (1st Draft)
Super not satisfied with this scene, it may end up just getting cut entirely. I’m not sure what it is exactly that I don’t like about it either, so it’s a bit hard to revise.
As always, constructive criticism is welcome!
Amy shuffles her tarot cards, ritualistically laying them out on the
table, before putting them back in a stack. A few people pass by the
table she's sitting at, not paying her much mind as they wander.
"What are those?" Knuckles asks, peering over her shoulder to get a
better look at the intricate pink designs.
"My tarot cards?" She glances up at him, pausing her shuffling.
"You've seen me use them before."
"I have?"
Amy sighs, setting the cards down flat on the table. She opens her
mouth to speak, only for Sticks to come barreling in, tripping over
herself in her frantic rush. Tails looks up from the little project in
front of him, startled at her sudden entrance.
"Have any of you seen Sonic?" Sticks asks, looking between the three
with wide eyes. They exchange confused glances, and Tails shrugs.
"I think he's back in his shack, taking a nap or something. Why?"
"Someone's out to kill him!"
Amy and Tails both blink, glancing at each other once again. "What...
makes you think that?" Amy raises an eyebrow.
"Some creep in a hood was asking around town about him. Real intense,
too. Didn't even bother to not act suspicious."
"Where was this?" Amy asks, narrowing her eyes as she glances past
Sticks. It could very well be Sticks' paranoia, but it wouldn't hurt
to take a look around.
"Near the shops. But they might have moved by now."
"Right. I'll go check it out. Tails, why don't you go check up on
Sonic real quick?"
"Sure thing." He hops out of his seat almost immediately, his brow
creased slightly. Amy scoops her cards up, heading towards the shops,
as Sticks stays behind to continue to rant and rave at a fascinated
Knuckles.
It's not a particularly busy day, and Amy can pretty easily maneuver
through the sparse crowd as she glances around for any unfamiliar
faces. While the village may be exciting, there's rarely anyone new,
and having lived there almost her entire life, Amy knew each resident
like the back of her hand.
So when she saw the flutter of an unfamiliar red cloak in the crowd,
she made a beeline for it. "Hey!" She called, pushing gently past a
small group. The cloak paused for a moment, only for a harsh
accidental shove of someone behind her to send her crashing into the
mysterious figure. The two topple over with a thud, spilling cards all
over the floor.
"Oh Chaos, I am so sorry!" The figure says, as the hood falls away
from her face, revealing the face of a pretty young hedgehog with
bright green eyes and pink bangs. She quickly adjusts the hood,
keeping it covering her quills before Amy can see them, before
kneeling down to help her gather her cards. Amy blinks at the unusual
phrase, before shaking her head.
"No, no, I didn't mean to crash into you. That was my bad." Amy laughs
nervously. She glances down at the stack of cards the other woman has
gathered in her hands, a laugh escaping her before she can stop it.
"Are you meeting up with a family member?"
"Huh?" The woman blinks, and Amy turns red, quickly scrambling to
explain before she embarrasses herself.
"Oh, the- the cards you picked up, it's-"
"Oh, they're tarot cards!"
"Yeah! I was just making a- uh, a joke, I guess. The cards you
grabbed, like the Six of Cups, that usually represents past memories
and childhood, or like, healing from the past. And the Ten of Rings
can be for family matters and the like."
"Hm." The woman smiles, glancing at the cards. "You're an expert in
these sort of things, I take it?"
"Ah, well, it's a hobby of mine. Oh! I'm Amy, by the way. Amy Rose."
She extends her hand, and the other woman happily shakes it.
"Pleasure to meet you." She smiles again, handing the cards back, and
it's only then that Amy realizes it doesn't quite reach her eyes.
The other woman turns to leave, and Amy glances down to the card she
was just handed. Her heart sinks, knotting with anxiety as she
registers the image sitting upside-down in her hand.
The Tower.
