Apprentice!AU Chainshipping works because they would both be unhinged in completely opposite ways. Lawrence is strutting around all cold and calculating with Hannibal Lecter-style person suit whereas Adam is frothing at the mouth, ready to tear someone's throat out like a rabid dog. They each think they're "the crazy one" and all the other apprentices are too scared to go anywhere near them when they're together.
