Marveling –  the aspects of life that come so naturally, effortlessly. At which point you do have to look back, search to see just when it was learned?…When, when, when– did you learn to wear your misery like clothing, let it keep you warm in the harshest of seasons? When did you begin to see your scars like simple accessories to your person?

When did you begin to see the pain in others, no words necessary, an invisible finger tracing over the skin of their words, reading the braille of their struggle…and simply understand?

How many times did you wish you could have done more, Gray? How many times did you hate yourself? His defeats existed in the way his lips hung naturally downward, weighed by all he could not say. 

Yukino wondered how heavy his smile must be these days.

For this reason alone, she smiled, something soft upon her lip…because she knew the weight behind her own, and was willing to lift it for him. 

“I will not glorify your pain, Gray.” She searched the storms of his eyes, pondered how vast the icy landscape could be, how endless. “But you are beautiful. What ever ways you’ve been broken…do not take away from that. Never will.”
