So apparently Stigma is gone from youtube/amazon/apple/spotify now?

I’ve seen speculation that it should be back soon, but honestly I’m not sure. Unlike their later discography (which is released by Lantis or other companies), Stigma was an independently-released album. Luckily it was much later than the Momo albums and so still actually exists through unofficial means, but it doesn’t have the level of support that their later albums do.

Recently (I’m not sure when, but it’s a fact now), distribution of Stigma was taken over by whiplash! Records. This is a small independent label who literally handles just Denkare and some Yousei Teikoku stuff (all I could find was Stigma and the in-game OST for Guided Fate Paradox; the vocal tie-in album was handled by Lantis).

whiplash! are also notorious for vanishing for long periods of time (their site hasn’t updated since 2017, their youtube channel was silent from 2019 until 4 months ago when they reuploaded some yousei teikoku concert videos and hosted a stream promising “new things”, and haven’t updated since), and for having inconstent availability of their albums available on streaming. re:charge, gig grimoire/gig detonator (Denkare’s live albums), Ignition, Inspirante (including its demo tape), Karenteki Ongaku Shuu III, and inexplicably 3 tracks from Denkishiki Ongaku Shuu III (未来への欠片, Last Message, and 天空（そら）駆ける剣) are all missing from streaming platforms. And now Stigma joins them

What is promising is that it’s both Denkare’s “20th + 1″ anniversary and the band/label are hoping to do a bunch to celebrate, which could include new music/finally getting their most recent albums (Inspirante/Karenteki III) onto streaming, and that whiplash!’s most recent activity *was* promising some new updates. Whether that translates to Stigma being officially reinstated or when it’ll happen if it does, who knows

For the time being though, thankfully there’s still fan uploads

Notes:

There's a few interesting parts that aren't conveyed all that well with just the Rōmaji. "Yuu ando ai" is written as 憂安堵哀. I think it's being used for both sound (a la ateji) and meaning, hence my writing out "You and I" with "Melancholy, Relief, Grief" (the actual meaning of the kanji) in brackets. The "naiteiru" here is written as 啼いている rather than 泣いている, implying it's like an animal's cry (like a bird call or a bark)

Kagiroi can refer to either the shimmering of hot air, or a light at daybreak

It's a very unusual song layout, with not much in the way of "traditional" structure. It's also very dependent on its indentation, as much of the quoted bits in the Romaji/English are only indicated via indentation in the original lyrics (even though some of the original lyrics are *also* quoted).

This song was performed unplugged in an acoustic live show in 2017 (video for that show is here, concert starts at about 1:28:00) and a recording of that was included on the Prima Dynamis single (unfortunately that track doesn’t seem to be included with the rest of the album on Youtube)
