Hey everyone! Today I wanted to talk about an interesting topic in Hinduism: Sadhvis. This is one of the terms for a female renouncer (another one I’ve heard is Sannyasinis). This means that a woman has devoted herself to abandoning the normal lives they once knew to focus entirely on seeking moksha, specifically by finding their Atman and knowing Brahman. This path is called asceticism, which means depriving yourself of physical pleasures for a greater gain. This is a topic of study covered not only by Leona M. Anderson, but also Meena Khandelwal. The focus is typically on how, despite there being traditions in Hindu that talk of female renouncer, women are typically forbidden to do it, or are at least mistreated for doing it. After all, if a woman is supposed to be a wife and mother, how can she do that if she swears off that life in the first place? Or what if, when she becomes a widow, she does this? She would not be contributing anything anymore anyway, but is she even a good wife if she tries to go around her duty of serving him and his legacy? What about all the men she might tempt away from Moksha? It’s complicated, there are many strands of thought, and yet they exist. Indraprastha Literary Festival 2022

Students of KCCILHE participated in the Indraprastha Literary Festival 2022 organized under the joint aegis of Karuna Foundation and Ministry of Culture in New Delhi at Indira Gandhi National Center for the Arts, Delhi.

Participation in such events not only encourages students to read good books but also develops positive thinking and attitude in the reader. Students got an opportunity to be part of discussions by eminent writers on Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, Padma Awards, direction and condition of Indian literature.  Students also witnessed activities like Book release and talk show with well-known social activists including Ms. Donal Bisht, Ms. Maithili Thakur, Shri Kanhaiya Mittal, Acharya Dr. Lokesh Muni and Swami Chinamayand Ji  Sadhvi Bhagwati Saraswati, etc. The overall experience gave several lifelong learning lessons and memories to all the participants.

I visit all the temples almost every month, like....the banke bihari ji, dwarkadhish, Prem mandir, Nerm karori baba ka mandir, Shanti kunj, pagal baba ka mandir, and the vatsalya gram + iskon sometimes.

Aajao yaar yahaan, saffron clad sadhus and sadhvis flock the streets, padyatris with laathi and laddu gopal all year round, Gau Mata ka aashirvaad, banadron ki harkat

Man, vrindawan is my essence now, I love it.

Sounds like a dream. Will visit soon, really really want to. Honestly, I have the urge to just settle there, a very strong urge. I can imagine how pure and beautiful it would feel to live on the holy land of Radha Krishna, be able to visit the temples all the time and see all the yatras.
