Halla Sacrifice within Dalish Clans

Dalish clans and clan Lavellan in particular are almost completely dependant on the Halla. Without her the elves would not survive. She provides them with food, materials for clothing, utensils and shelter, she willingly offers her life to keep the remaining Dalish clans in existence and sustain her clan after her death.

There is no animal companion more revered than the Halla, and no animal more sacred.

When he was First to clan Lavellan, Ryvae often took on the role of councillor and acted as the middle man between the Keeper and the clan. He was known to be gentle and calm - ready to help anybody who was willing to talk, and so he was named Fvendal. Meaning the waters ears in the Dalish dialect.

A clan name is different from a given/birth name.

It is granted to them by the Hahren’s, their Keepers, or by the Clan themselves. The clan name is a moniker, used to give meaning and establish an elves identity in the clan - it can be derived from their skills or achievements, distinguishing features, their role in the clan, or just something they pride themselves on. It is different from a first name, and for most it bears more meaning. Each name is symbolic to the individual, and to their Dalish roots.

Personality : Full of witty remarks, he enjoys light-hearted teasing and dry humour however Ryvae is not the joker in the room. Preferring to keep his jokes to himself and the few around him, he has a quiet and well-tempered voice and often appears level-headed and collected despite whole-heartedly supporting silly shenanigans and games. As the Keepers apprentice, Ryvae is raised to be the protector of his clan therefore he deeply values the well-being of others especially after taking on the duty of Inquisitor. He is considerate of those he cares for and unafraid to pursue what he believes is right. He is stoutly dedicated to his beliefs and loyal to his friends and family. Rather straight forward in his approach, he knows what he wants and he will do what it takes to get the job done. It takes a lot to get him mad (though Orlais and the Chantry somehow manage to make it a rather often occurance) and he is less merciful in his punishments especially of a betrayed trust. Ryvae wears his heart on his sleeve, a result of which he acts mainly on account of his feelings rather than logic. Quick to trust and quicker to be hurt by betrayal, Ryvae is not one to forgive freely nor dismiss his thoughts. He did not find it easy to adjust to the judgemental and unkind views outside of his world and his clan where people continue to undermine his belief and steadfast duty to his clan.

Skill tree : Ryvae is a specialist winter mage, focusing his battle tactics mainly on freezing and slowing his opponents, dealing damage with time. Certainly not the strongest mage on the field but nonetheless a skilfully unique one, Ryvae relies on aggressive spells that take care of the adversary in due time. He is an adequate healer and his familiarity with herbs makes him a very capable medic, relying on nature rather than on spells and spirit magic. With Solas’ help, he began studying rift magic while with the Inquisition to better understand the Anchor and manipulate the Fade for more direct attacks.
