You know, after your first play you get to see things from other perspective and well, this is what basically happens in the prologue movie, right? Which makes me cry btw ;w; so here have this redraw~

ill never be able to stop thinking about how fucked up Renamon and Ruki’s relationship was in Tamers.

Cause, like. Dude. Because for Ruki, Renamon is, on some level, simultaneously a mother figure a sister figure her best/only friend her pet her partner someone she loves and hates more than anyone else aND. Their whole dynamic was so fucked and yeah they managed to rerail it but fucking think about it for a second.

Ruki’s first important, meaningful, strong emotional connection she ever had was with this vaguely fox shaped monster who had no idea how emotions are supposed to work. Because Ruki was supposed to teach her that but Ruki’s whole view on family and relationships is fucked beyond all recognition because her home situation has been in the toilet since she was an infant so the only thing Ruki ever told Renamon was to follow her orders exactly no matter what and Renamon, who let me remind you has no baseline for what a healthy relationship is supposed to be, is just like “okay sure you want me to kill shit for you?”

And Ruki, who as was previously established has a kinda fucked up view of the world and herself, is like “yes. yes actually that would be great”

and then they just had to deal with that. Renamon started giving a shit about Ruki while Ruki was trying her damndest to only think of Renamon as a tool and a weapon to get stronger and then fucking Takato and his stupid dinosaur show up and show her that hey maybe she should treat Renamon as a person but that just further fucks with her head because that would mean admitting that she’s treating Renamon like her mother treats her and no fucking thank you that is not a revelation she’s equipped to deal with and she knows it.

And Renamon just accepts it, accepts that Ruki will only see her as a weapon to get stronger and just accepts the fact that this kid that she was more or less made to love forever doesn’t see her as a thinking feeling person because the important thing is that she’s safe and has a goal. She protects her heart by pretending that she doesn’t care about Ruki that way because admitting that would mean that she wishes Ruki would care and reducing herself to an attack dog is easier than having an honest emotional revelation that heavy.

god. two broken people being broken together, having no idea how to fix themselves or each other and just laying on the ground together where their broken pieces can mix together and cut each other forever.

fuck.

"That‘s so funny how you put yourself higher than me. I suppose that’s how demons feel about humans. Though the one in the highest position in this room, is the one i’m sitting on top of."

It wasn’t much of a taunt as it was the truth and she was prepared for the consequences. Though it was Laito‘s words that caught her attention the most.

"Intriguing, how so?" Looking back at the fedora wearing vampire again, her head tilted in confusion. She couldn’t understand why he thought that way.

"Either way, this has been dragging on for too long. Could we go back to the reason why I‘m in this position in the first place?"

Internally, Reiji was seething, but it did not show. Despite that, it was clear to everyone in the room that you had hit a nerve. He remained still, holding himself back, even with the slightest movements like the urge to ball his fists. With a blink, Reiji's composure was back to normal, but still- it was obvious.

Reiji: "...Very well, if that's what you choose, then consider yourself lucky that I'm giving you the chance to do as you wish. Say any more and I will not be as willing to spare you. I'll make you regret everything once you're finished."

After practically having spat those words, Reiji vanished the same way all the others' you've run into had, wordlessly.

Shu: "Heh.. You have no idea? That was awfully brave of you. I can agree with him, you only seem to get more interesting as each second passes."

Laito: "Indeed~ I can only imagine what Reiji-kun has in store for you, nfu~ Don't you have Ruki-kun you should be running back to, as well? How exciting, maybe they'll both fight over you, too~"

After Laito finished going on his usual imaginative thoughts, Shu leaned in closer, looking at the marks on your neck. Unsatisfied, he tugged at the collar of your shirt, before speaking up.

Shu: "Already begging for my fangs, are we? Go on then, and take this off. Then will I give you what you desire."
