first impression
my eyes took a minute to adjust to your icon and figure out what it was, but it’s pretty! i love your theme and the aesthetics, i feel like it’s going to really fit what you’re all about!! onto the plot!
the plot
um, wow, i love the plot! also, you okay’ed grammar check and i literally didn’t notice any mistakes in your plot except a “>” typoed into the third paragraph. wow! i swear, i always catch an error in plots, lol.
i think the only suggestion i’d have is to make the part about the Peshlakai family its own paragraph the way the Espinoza’s is! so, “... both of which felt they would provide the best for the town. / BREAK HERE / The Peshlakai family housed on the East side of the river was known for their love of nature.” i think it would just help set focus on them after mentioning that they’re feuding.
i think your plot is the perfect length! no unnecessary wordiness. it tells me all i need to know, and is the perfect amount of detail without being too much. i love it!
the details
your rules look clear and complete to me! however, some of the links that are meant to be in place are missing.
your navigation is BEAUTIFUL!!! i love the page, i love how easy it is to look through <3 all of your pages are fantastic, honestly! i miss this level of dedication from roleplays.
one thing i expected to find but didn’t was if characters from the two families could be played, and if yes, what their exact ethnicities are! we can make assumptions from the plot and their names, but it’d be good to have it clearly stated. :)
you have locations on the topbar, but it’s not on the navigation page, so i’d add that on <3 same with the neighborhoods, it is in the mobile nav but nowhere else.

your organization is great because of your use of page themes! i think your use of pages is really setting you apart. everything is so easy to look through, navigate, and read!
atmosphere
i love this atmosphere! you all seem sooo lovely. i can tell through your posts alone that you are friendly, caring, and excited about your roleplay! through messages that is even clearer. y’all are very sweet! i think you’re setting up a lovely atmosphere anyone would be happy to roleplay in.
i really do like mun caps, personally. however, you mentioned being worried about traffic not coming through, and i would like to point out that sometimes mun caps actually scare people off instead of drawing them in. it can create a sense of fear of them either not being good enough to get in, being worried about not being active enough to take a spot, make people think the group is cliquey, or too small to join in on the fun, etc! so that could be taking a part in why there’s less traffic
accessibility
i don’t have much thought on the activity limit, i think it’s in a good time range. besides, i have the feeling you’re the type of admins to be helpful with those that may need more time!
your page is PERFECT for accessibility. everything is very easy to read, easy to find. literally the ONLY thing i’d recommend is changing the text color on this nav
diversity
on your pinned post about acceptances, i’d change “POC FC’s only” to “FC’s of color only”
there’s no rule in the guidelines about diversity, and that’s something i typically really appreciate.
however, your taken faceclaims so far are absolutely lovely! love to see it!
tumblr: theme/graphics
i LOVE your theme and page themes! one thing i noticed you could edit is that your pages backgrounds are all white, but your main theme is black. not only does it mess with the flow of your theme, it can be a little hard on the eyes.
if there was anything i’d change about the graphics, it’d just be the fonts. the two main fonts i see being used don’t match each other, and the font used on things like “Pinned Post” doesn’t match the plot either, it feels very 1920′s. also, the brush font seems a bit outdated. but hey, we are feeling nostalgic for the old days, so why not? lol
however, if you like the look of a brush theme, i like these ideas with your theme and graphics:

i can’t see why you don’t have more traffic or more apps, really. i’m going to pm you about promoing, perhaps!
because i really loved everything about this! anyone interested in a town rp with some spicy familial drama behind it to push events would love it too.

Also because I've seen a couple people get confused about extracting zip files on their phones, here's a rundown of ways to open the zips you download off of payhip:
On iPhone, just download the zip to files, open your files app, and tap the zip; it'll just extract.
On Android, follow these instructions from Google.
For Windows, Mac, and Linux, you should be able to either right click and extract, double click than drag and drop, or both. I can't imagine it's not both on all three operating systems, but it's been a while since I've played with a Mac or Linux computer.
If you have a Chromebook, try these instructions from Livewire. I've never had to use one, so I don't know if this is accurate, but it's worth a try.

ngl seeing people complain about differing levels of admin professionalism makes me want to gouge my own eyes out. just to be clear, adminning is hard. it takes a lot of work and a lot of real world skills. i've gotten very real jobs exclusively from resume experience that was a job-ese way of talking about experience on tumblr. but at the same time, people in this community will really blame admins and rphs for absolutely everything. if there is anything wrong with the group, automatically the fault of the admins. hands down. they didn't know? well, you're supposed to be omniscient and omnipresent because it's your group so it's your responsibility. but then the minute the admin says the same thing these anons do -- it's not a real job, whatever -- within 48 hours, the rp closes because of the sheer amount of hate being thrown at them by shitstirrers and rubberneckers. like, can we honestly pick a lane with this?? because at this point i really do think anyone who thinks admins are being "overly serious" are probably just being purposefully ignorant to the way admins are treated here, or in protest of it. but you can't ignore that admins get literally doxxed for being kind of rude to one member one time.
there's so much truth behind this it's absolutely insane that this is what it seems like the rpc has come to.
like you anon, i can so relate to translating some of my experiences between adminning a tumblr rp and working a managerial position job. being an admin absolutely takes a lot of work in building and updating the main page, developing a plot, promoting the group, reviewing applications, creating graphics for bio and other posts, coming up with and running events and plot drops that move the story forward, and managing the members within it –– all while keeping up with their own characters and activity on the dash. so yeah, in a sense, it is kind of a job but it should be a fun one, in my opinion. more often than not, i've always looked forward to logging onto tumblr and performing my admin duties in my group unless there was, like, a shit storm of drama going on because who honestly enjoys conflict, y'know?? still part of the admin job to handle it which i've learned better ways of managing from both my job and this awesome instagram account that gives some great advice.
i've been here running rps since 2013 and i remember things being so much different back then. it was a community where when admins opened a group they didn't have to clench their buttcheeks and hold their breath praying when they opened the inbox or dms to that one notification that it wasn't anon hate saying they'd been publicly outed for fucking something up like allowing a certain fc they shouldn't have or rightfully kicking out a player from their group. like, this should be fun for everyone including the admins –– they shouldn't have to be stressed out and watching their back for a scorned ex-member (usually unavoidable but typically harmless in most cases) or a fair few of rpc to come running at them.
i really do feel like over the years the rpc has focused more on policing and public callouts than minding their business and communicating privately. like, this is a public space and it's impossible to have that catered to an individual's tastes. this is meant to be a hobby where we all gather around for some interactive creative writing. it's fiction. and yeah, fiction often takes inspiration from real life, both good and bad things, which is important for all writers to recognize and acknowledge the difference when it comes to writing both plots and characters in the latter category. i frankly don't see an issue with there being some variety in plots and rp genres because otherwise i fear that at the rate the rpc is going all we might end up with is a dozen small town slice-of-life rps once everything else has been canceled. if there's an rp out there that you don't agree with or like or find personally harmful, there's no obligation to join it. in fact, i highly recommend utilizing the block button to improve your tumblr rp experience.
look, that's also not me saying that it's acceptable for admins or rps to be purposefully racist, transphobic, homophobic, sexist, or harmful in other ways. rping should be a fun and enjoyable experience and there are certain subjects that are more personally triggering than others and there are certain genres/plots where those topics may be more present. and it's really unfair to expect admins and other figures to know everything that they're unfamiliar with. it's also unfair to attack them publicly for genuinely not knowing. in those cases, i see two options a mature human being can take: they can block it and forget it OR they can privately approach the admins off anon and politely educate them on the issue. public callouts on what i believe are minor issues of unawareness do nothing but spread negativity and hate where i think kindness and compassion can do the job better. this is my observation, but it feels like the rpc has come to rely on immediately taking things public and utilizing the anon feature. and even then when there's an apology and acknowledgment of wrongdoing and promise to do better, there are still people who can't stop talking about the situation that's done and over with.
it's really important to remember that admins and all these voices in the rpc and rpt tags are human beings too on the other side of the screen and i'm sure we all appreciate being treated as such. it's super disheartening seeing so much negativity about what everyone's doing wrong and not enough support for what someone is doing right.
and by the way, there are absolutely some truly problematic individuals and groups out there that are doing those things on purpose that i feel should be called out with proper evidence to inform others. most of the cases i've seen lately in the rpc the last few months i did not think were worthy of being shit on or called out as hard or as long as they were.
i think i've rambled enough but yeah i don't think it's an ignorance, anon, i think most people in the rpc are very much aware and choose to ignore the fact that we're all human and none of us are perfect. it's a choice to be kind, mature, and empathetic or to be negative and hating everyone and everything. no one on this site should have to live in fear of making a mistake and having it haunt them forever when all they were looking to do was have fun in a hobby they love.

If an RPH blog helps you, sending feedback and making sure to redirect your friends to them is the way to go. If an RPH or someone that provides resources helps you in some way it is a good thing to send them a message, @ them showing them something they helped you with, leave an anon / off anon review of them. Tell your friends about them because that is a way to gain traction. Positive little messages are always welcomed to people but if someone helps you for free? You could do the nice service of reviewing.
It is like how if you read fanfics, you really should be reviewing their work and letting them know how grateful you are for them providing content for you to consume.
If you use their content, show them your work sometimes. Some of us have no idea that our hard work is being used by others. I found someone using a google docs template of mine and had no clue, it made my week to know that something I made was being used. I’ve seen rph blogs get discouraged because no one seems to be using their work
I just feel like sometimes little messages letting content creators know that their work is useful, that it is being used, that someone is thankful for their time and patients is helpful and means a lot to people. Yes, we reblog and like their posts but that doesn’t always work the same as KNOWING it is being used.

first impression
ok based on the name alone i had no idea what to expect, so i’m excitedly heading over to your page! aaaaaa the aesthetic is very apocalyptic which gets me so giddy tbh, i am obsessed with apocalpytic plots, and the presentation is lovely, so you’ve got me so far!
you may be fooled by the cutesy theme i’ve got going here, but horror is literally my favorite genre lmao
the plot
i already love the last of us so much (despite not even finishing the game yet because apparently i can only Do Things when the hyperfixation is fixated), so i can’t help but be a little biased here in just loving the concept alone. but you did amazing with setting up the plot! i think you’ve given solid information for anyone who has never seen the show or played the video game, so that it’s not entirely necessary to have that media consumption to play in your plot!
not only that, but you’ve provided details on so many things i’d normally have questions about, lol. i’m such an overthinker, i feel like i need to know everything i possibly can before joining a group. your plot even covers how the infection stages work, etc. so good on you, seriously. i really appreciate this as an overthinking bitch who needs to know every minute detail in order to feel safe to apply lol.
overall, the plot feels hefty and complete. it wasn’t a boring read, which sometimes long plots can be. i like that you’ve broken it up into multiple sections in which the sections aren’t too long either.
the details
i love the detail on your rules tbh. it feels very much rp once upon a time lol. rules are usually so simple now, which is ok! i just love this.
i think you could use a location page (nothing fancy, even just a bulleted list with a little description could do!) to bolster the places mentioned in your plot!
i can’t continue because i think your jobs link is broken :(
i’d also look into a navigation page, especially for those who are mobile, if you don’t have one! (i don’t think i’m seeing one) on that page, i’d normally expect to see like a checklist, a masterlist to follow, things like that, but i’m not seeing anything? and on the “more” button on the theme, it just refreshes the page.
organization
i love the organization, it’s very simple to look around, which makes me feel totally chill. if i was an applicant, i definitely wouldn’t be too scared to apply.
atmosphere
well you have kat graham and sarah michelle gellar as your mascots, and those are literally two of my all-time favorite faceclaims somehow, so im happy lmao. from what i can gauge on the main, you’re very friendly, and you want to run a tight ship with this roleplay, and i totally admire that.
accessibility
i immediately struggled to find the navigation. i opened the page for my first impression, and i was really excited to find the plot, but i legit could not find the buttons for a good minute, aaaaa. it’s also really hard to read the text on the buttons. ok now that it’s bigger in this screenshot it’s easier but slkdfjsd it was very hard to see on the page. if the theme doesn’t allow you to change the text without changing another important aspect, check the html!
i know how crucial activity is to a roleplay, especially these days with everyone flitting about without sticking around anymore. however, as a disabled person, the activity feels just a tiny bit too tight-leashed for someone like me to maintain. i know i’m not the average person, but it’s worth keeping that in mind!
i can’t find the forward/backward buttons on the pages, either.
diversity
i do see diversity in the cast, which makes me happy! i do see a handful of problematic faceclaims though that might scare a few people away if they are feeling uncomfortable about things like that.
UPDATE: the admins have reached out about this, and have assured they’re working on it!
tumblr: theme/graphics
i personally LOVE the scheme and the graphics, but due to how difficult it is to read the theme, find buttons, etc, i would consider changing it up a little. if editing it doesn’t work, maybe a similar theme? i know that always hurts to even think about, but you definitely want potential members to navigate with ease!
overall
i love it!! i’d consider looking into the faceclaims that are being applied for, but i love love love an apocalyptic roleplay, and you’ve got a great plot here. i would just tinker with some of the minor details, and i think you have an incredibly solid group here i could see lasting for a good long while!

9. How did you get started making gif packs?
Ooof okay I think this was like waaaay back in 2012-2014 when mascots were a much bigger deal and we had to have gifs for every single header, including "ratings" for rp reviews. So I would make packs for other rphs with existing gifs with their fc and some text overlay like "randomrpcwrites thinks your rp COULD USE SOME WORK!" and eventually I started making my own gifs for that since the existing gifs didn't always match what I needed in expression, size, and color. I wasn't so respectful of the gif makers at the time, but definitely gained that respect after making my own gifs. Then after that I would be like "well, these gifs are still good for something" so I would release the packs of like.... 6 gifs and be like "here you go!!!" So I think that was the very beginning.
20. What are you most looking forward to gifing this year? Any upcoming movies or shows?
If you're on this acct, you know I'm gonna gif Camila lmao. Her new movie is coming out on Friday, I think? Which is why I really wanted to finish my pack of her in Dangerous Lies so I could have more space for camila gifing 🤣 I think the new PLL:OS is coming out this year? If so, I'm coming for u Jordan!!

25. Any pet peeves when it comes to gifing?
Going to make a gif and finding out that it's only like 12 frames but it's SUCH a cute moment, when a scene is only one color and REFUSES to budge no matter how many layers I'm throwing at it, when my fc looks cute but they're OUT OF FOCUS!!!! just to name a few lol

how to make a rainbow gradient psd ? or just gradient psds in general in photopea ?
So we are going to assume that you know how to make layers / etc to make a psd and just head straight to the two types of gradients that are layers. At the bottom of this tutorial will leave you with a few textures that you can grab that are gradients in the rainbow style for you to use but again those are textures meaning that they aren’t going to fill in every image and will have to be adjusted on everything to fit perfectly.
As always, I do take requests for: psds, textures, tutorials, gif sets, drabbles, etc.
If you need me to explain something more in depth about a certain point feel free to send another ask! I don’t mind helping. Please like / reblog if this is helpful or you use it.

Here is a tutorial that I did explaining how one gets that gradient tool to work. That one was really simple and I would prefer to give you some more detials. So there are two different types of gradients in photopea and in photoshop (PS it looks different) One is a gradient map Layer > New Layer adjustment > Gradient map.
Which this is just set to play and white. In the tutorial above that is first linked you will see how to change the colors but I will do it again here but without gifs and just images.
Click what I have circled in blue.
Alright so the gradient editor will pop up. Now what I have clicked in blue is what you would click and be able to change that color. You would them be able to move over to the other one and do the same thing.
If you click anywhere in the box that doesn’t have a thing under it, you can add another gradient color point.
Which is what I just did so you can see that one. Move those little boxes around and just play with your settings!
The next version is what I did in the lens flare tutorial with the Layer > New Layer Fill > Gradient Fill. so check that turoail out on that option. I didn’t go over every option on these tools but you can kind of get the picture of what each goes.

small town california, usa
home of high school football games, small town diners, farm country, small schools. everyone knows everything about everyone. generational families. a place where you get dirt on your hands just to help your neighbors in need. a place where everyone knows you, your mom, and your siblings. this is a good town but with an influx of big name celebrities running from the lime light comes the darker aspects of city life hidden beneath that pristine small town exterior.
