For Kelsey Grammer, politics and work apparently don’t mix well.

The “Frasier” star opened up about his political views, namely his support for former President Donald Trump, during a Monday interview on BBC Radio 4’s “Today” show.

After referencing actress-comedienne and Trump supporter Roseanne Barr earlier in the interview, Grammer was asked by host Justin Webb if he was still a supporter of the former president.

“I am,” Grammer said. “And I’ll let that be the end of it.”

But according to Webb, that wasn’t the end of it.

The BBC host revealed after the interview aired that Grammer had no issue discussing his support of Trump, but PR representatives from Paramount+ (which streams the “Frasier” revival) allegedly cut the interview short, according to a clip of Webb’s post-interview comments shared by Mediaite.

“I have to say, actually, Kelsey Grammer himself was perfectly happy to go on talking about it,” Webb said. “The Paramount+ PR people, less happy that he talked about it at some length so we… They decided that we’d had plenty of time for our interview. But I should stress that he was absolutely perfectly happy to talk about why he supports Donald Trump and still does in the coming election.”

USA TODAY has reached out to representatives for Grammer and Paramount+ for comment.

Grammer revived his iconic Dr. Frasier Crane character when the "Frasier" sitcom returned for a reboot in October. Dr. Crane first appeared as the preppy, obnoxious boyfriend to Diane Chambers (Shelley Long) in the Season 3 "Cheers" premiere in September 1984, turning a bit part into an indelible nine-season role.

"We knew from the first five lines that this guy was amazing because he could compete with the stellar 'Cheers' cast," James Burrows, “Frasier” director and “Cheers” co-creator, told USA TODAY in October. "Frasier was only written for a short character arc. But after the first show, we said, 'My God, we've got to keep this guy on.' We would have been blind not to see it."

Sometimes I think about how they revived the show Roseanne and it was very successful but Roseanne started posting extremely racist stuff on Twitter so they killed her character off by overdosing on opioids and continued without her LMAO

I remember a few years ago when Roseanne Barr was Kimmel promoting the Roseanne revival, he asked why she voted for Trump and she told him : “I’m still the same — you all moved. You all went so f—ing far out you lost everybody. I mean, seriously." Since that interview, more people who have traditionally voted democrat are now jumping ship to the republican party.

She's right. For all the claims that the Republicans moved further to the right, the Democrats raced to the left. Even on issues where they should be in the "mainstream", like abortion legality, they have to go to the extreme left. They can't help themselves. And if the red tsunami overcomes the cheating, it'll only be worse for them because it's the more "moderate" Dems who are going to be swept out of office. All the extreme leftists come from deep blue districts. They're the ones who will be driving policy and rebuilding the party. And they will never pull a Clinton and moderate themselves. They'll just keep getting more and more extreme. If elections were fair and the media wasn't wholly in the tank for the left, it would be rare to see Democrats win at the national level anywhere but the bluest of blue states.

I am probably the only one with the blorbo obsession to make this bizarre connection but - this reminds me a bit of what's going on at the moment with another character.

With Spike, the showrunners tried to undermine him by making him "weaker" and it didn't work, the fans liked him harder. They finally panicked and tried to make the character commit an act that was utterly beyond the pale in order to sink the ship - but many of the fans reacted by simply refusing to accept it, declaring it such a betrayal of the character as written that it Didn't Happen and they'd just write around it in their heads.

Elsewhere, David on Roseanne went from being Darlene's vaguely artistic boyfriend to being the butt of every joke, constantly mocked for his lack of "manly" qualities. Gullible, soft, abused by his family, obsessively devoted to his girlfriend, bossed around, suddenly gaining skills in cooking and cleaning and sewing out of nowhere so that the other characters had more things to make fun of him for, even his sexual abilities were joked about.

And a few people in the fandom do viscerally hate him for being "weak" and "clingy" and having been punched in the face by a small child rather than fight back.

This didn't stop him from being a teen heartthrob with legions of devoted fans.

~30 years later, the revival has to go on without David's character because the actor is unavailable, so the showrunners are frantically trying to undermine the character in order to shill his replacement. They want to retcon him into being a terrible person who did something beyond the pale so that fans will stop wanting him to come back.

And it's just not working! Many fans refuse to accept it, declaring it such a betrayal of the character that it Couldn't Happen. Even when it's basically the entire premise of the revival, the complaint just keeps coming up over and over again: how dare they do this to David?

Basically, you can't spend years in your original beating us over the head with how emotional and sensitive the boy is, literally saying when Darlene got pregnant that no one could make a better mother than David... and then tell us he's a deadbeat dad now, without expecting protests!

Evelyn Ellis (February 2, 1894 – June 5, 1958) was a character actress on stage and in film. Devoting herself to the theatre, her film roles were few, but she appeared in films including The Joe Louis Story and The Lady from Shanghai. Toward the end of her career, as she was referred to in the press directed a few theater plays, including an all-black Broadway production of Tobacco Road.

She was born in Boston. Not much is known about her early life and introduction to acting, but she became a prominent actor within the African American community (1919-55). She made her theatrical debut at the Lafayette Theatre in Harlem in a production of Othello in 1919. She made her debut in the production of Roseanne. Her next big Broadway show was Porgy in 1927, in which she is known for creating the character of Bess. She played a lead role in Goat Alley. She played the character of Lucy Bell Dorsey.

She played in various other theatrical plays, such as Deep Are the Roots on Broadway in 1945, in which she played Bella Charles, the mother of the returned African-American war veteran, and The Royal Family in 1952. Her next big role was in the original Broadway production of Native Son, in which she played Hannah Thomas, the mother of Bigger Thomas. She played the same role a year later in a successful revival of the play. She continued to play various lead roles throughout her year working with the Dunbar Players of Philadelphia. She started a drama school in Long Island for youth.

She directed Horse Play in 1937 and then put on the play Little Woman in 1938 with the junior department at the Negro Little Theatre. Through her directing of a youth play and her creation of the drama school, she was active in getting younger kids interested in the art of drama.

She made her last Broadway appearance in 1953 and ended her acting career in 1955 with the film Interrupted Melody. #africanhistory365 #africanexcellence
