San Antonio Hospital In Lake Chapala
My sister was trapped in Hospital San Antonio and forced to pay $100,000
It could happen to anyone but in this case it happened to my sister
Recently my sister Jane and her husband of Lafayette, LA came to Mexico to attend their daughter’s wedding. My sister encountered chest pains and was taken to Hospital San Antonio by the Red Cross. The doctors said she needed surgery and required a $30,000 payment up front which max’d out the their credit cards. Then they were told that she needed a second operation and that an additional $30,000 had to be paid. At this point extended family was contacted and soon those cards were also max’d out.
Meanwhile the bills kept mounting and a nationwide “GoFundMe” campaign was begun. As the surgical a care treatment costs continued to rise, "..they were threatening to put her  literally on the streets if she did not pay up front. They threatened to move her to the IMSS hospital in Guadalajara which made no sense because IMSS is for workers. When we asked them for clarification the hospital staff then changed their tune and said that they meant Hospital Civil in Guadalajara. The hospital senior staff came to visit her in her room which was filthy and demanded money up front and threatened to dump her into Hospital Civil in Guadalajara if she did not pay.
Long story short, eventually the bills were over $107,000 and the couple couldn’t get out of the hospital without payment in full. They threatened to call the US embassy and the hospital staff got scared and backed off. Then as soon as my sister got back to her home in the USA she checked with her local doctors and they said that there was no need for any surgery. We then contacted our a specialist in Texas who also confirmed that there was no need for any surgery.
I had my lawyer contact Hospital San Antonio and ask from a medical report to substantiate the medical need for this surgery. They refused and after months and months of asking them they still have refused. In fact they threatened to sue me and my sister for dano moral if I tell anyone about this. What does that even mean? I dont care if they sue me. I feel a need to warn everyone about Jane's horrible experience in Hospital San Antonio. Go ahead and sue me is what I say. If my post can help just one person then it is worth it.

Provide ao dai dance group COMPANY BLUE GLOBAL
Spanish, the stating goes, would be the loving tongue, but French, significantly, would be the language the whole world dances to. Its not the French of Maurice Chevalier or Edith Piaf; its Creole-ized French from places in which colonizers and emigrants ran into the African diaspora - from the Caribbean, in Africa and around the Louisiana bayou. It is the language for the dance tunes popping out of Paris studios along with for that homegrown, accordion-driven get together audio of Gulf Coastline dancehalls, and though the dialects alter from nation to region, the exhortation Allons dansez! is usually a common imperative.
Tumblr media
This weekend, New Yorkers can dance to three from the worlds finest Afro-French bands. Les Quatre Etoiles, an alliance of four top rated Zairian musicians now based in Paris, are going to be at Kilimanjaro tonight; Tabou Combo, the major Haitian band (although its now based in Brooklyn), will return to S.O.B.s tomorrow, and Nathan plus the Zydeco Cha-Chas, from Lafayette, La., is going to be at Tramps tonight and tomorrow. Quatre Etoiles Les Quatre Etoiles Participate in soukous -rumba rhythms carried back to Africa, lightened up, and topped with cascading, intertwining, dizzyingly infectious guitar lines and sweetly harmonized vocals, usually in Lingala (a pan-tribal Zairian language) or French. Its 4 co-leaders experienced good individual reputations each time a document producer persuaded them to band together in Paris in 1983. Nyboma, a singer, were primary his very own band due to the fact 1973, and had collaborated with Yet another primary Zairian band leader, Sam Mangwana; Syran Mbenza played guide guitar on Mr. Mangwanas Maria Tebbo, a pan-African hit, and worked consistently for a studio musician. Wuta May perhaps experienced sung and composed tracks for eight years with Franco and O.K. Jazz, one of Zaires most critical and very long-working bands. And Bopol, who plays bass with Les Quatre Etoiles onstage, worked with Francos major rival, Tabu Ley and Orchestre Afrisa, then proven himself like a guitarist and bassist from the Paris studios. The band also provides a drummer from Guyana, Ti Paul, and two Zairian singers, Passy Jo and Jean Papi. Nyboma, the bands principal songwriter, said he knew he wished to sing from his early childhood. When Franco or Tabu Ley was actively playing, I'd do something just to hear them, he reported in French as a result of an interpreter. I'd personally stand outdoors the celebration, or climb trees, in an effort to see them. When he was 11 a long time previous, he commenced singing in the Roman Catholic Church mainly because I knew it was a fantastic destination to establish my voice. And by the point he was sixteen, twenty years in the past, he was discovered by Verckys, a major Zairian history producer, who manufactured hit just after hit soon after hit right up until nowadays, he claimed. Whilst soukous utilizes electrical guitars and lure drums, it has robust regular undercurrents. The fundamental rhythm, Nyboma stated, is named zebola, and it is actually employed by regular spiritualists in therapeutic ceremonies. If they have to Forged out evil spirits, he mentioned, the spiritualist or the head of the city wears a red outfit masking his whole body and performs particular dances, Which rhythm is in tune with zebola. The Zairian guitar style, whose rounded arpeggios at the moment are well known across West Africa and while in the Caribbean, also has regular roots. For most elements of Africa, Mr. Mbenza claimed, the motivating power in the communitys track and dance is definitely the drums. But in Zaire, it's got Traditionally been one sort or A further with the kalimba, a thumb piano that plinks out melodic designs that could be transferred to electric guitar. In Senegal, he continued, you can have an orchestra of drums of various dimensions. As well as in Zaire, you've got guide, rhythm and bass guitar. Whilst Les Quatre Etoiles will take precedence, its members explained, their personal careers proceed. Mr. Mbenza has been Energetic in Paris studios, lately dealing with Kassav, whose associates are from Guadeloupe and Martinique, and whose zouk, One more dance audio with Creole lyrics, has affinities with soukous. Once i do the job with Kassav, he mentioned, the inspiration might be zouk. But Each time the guitar comes in, it will be soukous. In Paris, everybody is seeking that soukous guitar line. The band will be to Engage in tonight at eleven:30 at Kilimanjaro, 531 West 19th Road (627-2333); admission is $15. Tabou Combo Tabou Combos new music, the compas direct, is a New Globe analogue of soukous - an insinuating midtempo lilt, with its own circular guitar traces. And due to the fact 1968, when Tabou Combo took its title, the team has long been carrying compas to the earth, maintaining the bounce of compas whilst borrowing Suggestions from around. In 1969, when Tabou Combo designed its standing by winning a national band contest, its edge arrived from The point that it drew on bossa novas and Wes Mongomerys jazz; these days, as Caribbean songs cross-pollinates, Tabou Combo dips into funk, merengue, even rap. The band doesnt Perform for Haitian people only, said Roger M. Eugene, a singer. We will play for virtually any nation. Now, we have tracks in French, English, Spanish, Creole and Lingala. Whenever you listen to the music for the first time, it's like youve never ever tasted sugar - and when you do, you cant Reside with out it. Tabou Combo began out being an eight-piece mini-jazz band; mini-jazz distinguished lesser teams, which used guitars, from older Haitian massive bands with horns. During the mid-seventies, if the band was listening to Earth, Wind and Fire, it decided to insert a four-piece horn area. We needed the American flavor, Mr. Eugene stated. Lately, a synthesizer has taken above some guitar lines. But even now, the music revolves throughout the compas defeat. Tabou Combo has just summed up its job having a Are living album, Reside au Zenith, on the band taking part in its hits for nine,000 individuals in Paris, lots of them stretching to dance-floor duration. (Its available by Mini Documents, Box 432, Baldwin, N.Y., 11510.) The band writes its new music as a cooperative. No one inside the band can say, Im the a person who built that tune, Mr. Eugene mentioned. We often give the credit history into the one particular who delivers the melody of the main a few traces, but then All people needs to carry anything to it, and in Haitian new music what can make the track is the middle - thats the place everybody memorizes the song. It is vital to us to work togther. Tabou Combo is to accomplish tomorrow at 10:thirty P.M. and 1 A.M. at S.O.B.s, 204 Varick Avenue (243-4940); admission is $17. Zydeco Cha-Chas Zydeco is really an all-American hybrid - waltzes and two-ways introduced to Louisiana by Celtic Acadians (who became Cajuns), additionally blues, rhythm-and-blues and whatsoever else Appears excellent to the dance ground. The new music rides around the wheeze of an accordion, the clatter of the frottoir or rubboard (a corrugated metallic vest, played which has a pair of spoons), and bluesy, resilient singing. Nathan Williams, who leads the Zydeco Cha-Chas, signifies zydecos younger technology - hes 26 a long time outdated, from the bayou city of St. Martinville, La. When I very first started out participating in, my wife didnt like it, he explained. She explained I had been far too youthful for zydeco. Now, she likes it. As a toddler, Mr. Williams accustomed to loaf around outdoors dances the place Clifton Chenier, the late king of zydeco, was undertaking; ultimately, Mr. Williamss older brother Sidney acquired him an accordion of his possess from An additional zydeco stalwart, Buckwheat, who also gave him classes. Whilst Doing work at his brothers advantage store, Sids A single-Quit in Lafayette, La., Nathan would vanish into your again room with his accordion, all day long lengthy, until eventually my brother said, Youre gonna make me split that accordion. But it had been an idle menace. Finally, Sidney Williams begun a club, El-Sid-Os, and installed his brothers band there on Friday evenings. We played for nothing every Friday evening right until the gang crafted up, Nathan Williams stated. Cung cấp nhóm múa Flamenco -Chas Engage in a crisp, modernized zydeco, with hints of rock and Jamaican ska rhythms, but Mr. Williams can be more likely to pump out aged-fashioned zydeco-and-rubboard duets. And he keeps an eye within the dance floor. You dont have as much Vitality if individuals arent dancing, he explained. When theyre dancing, they give you far more rhythm, and they cause you to funk it up. Nathan and also the Zydeco Cha-Chas are accomplishing tonight and tomorrow at eight:thirty and 11 P.M. and twelve:30 A.M. at Tramps, 45 West twenty first Avenue (727-7788). Admission is $twelve.

Hamilton Movie: Meet the Original Cast
https://ift.tt/31Q9KEP
Wait For It. More than just one of the best songs in Hamilton—that Aaron Burr has soul!—those words signify how long fans around the world have waited to see Hamilton performed. Not everyone could afford a ticket at the height of the musical’s popularity or lived near a city where the touring show has visited. Yet now, in times when the lights across Broadway are out, we all can be in the room where it happens.
Thanks to Disney+, and the $75 million the Walt Disney Company shelled out for the rights, a filmed performance with the original Broadway cast of Hamilton is here. For the diehards who’ve listened to the original Broadway cast recording hundreds of times, it’s like seeing old friends when Anthony Ramos as John Laurens, Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette, and Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan walk into a bar. But for those who may not have the soundtrack memorized by heart, and painful memories of standing outside the Richard Rodgers Theatre for the original Hamilton lottery, here’s a rundown of who’s who.
 Lin-Manuel Miranda – Alexander Hamilton
A multi-hyphenate talent long before he stepped into Alexander Hamilton’s wool stockings, Lin-Manuel Miranda has had one of the most impressive careers of his generation in theater. The son of Dr. Luz Towns-Miranda and Luis A. Miranda Jr., the latter of whom arrived in New York as a Puerto Rico transplant and went on to become an advisor in Mayor Ed Koch’s administration, Lin-Manuel came from an impressive background. He arguably began his professional career  at Wesleyan University by writing a one-act musical his sophomore year: In the Heights. Born and bred in New York, Lin strove to write a musical that infused the freestyle rap and salsa rhythm that he loved growing up in Washington Heights with the American musical tradition.
It impressed enough contemporaries and eventually professional producers that Miranda was able to spend years retooling it alongside playwright Quiara Alegría Hudes for Connecticut theater, Off-Broadway, and finally Broadway. All the while Miranda played protagonist Usnavi de la Vega in addition to having written  the music and lyrics. It went on to win the Tony for Best Original Musical and Best Original Score, paving the way for Hamilton. Indeed, it was during an invitation to the Obama White House in 2009 as the In the Heights wunderkind where Miranda announced he was writing a hip hop album about Alexander Hamilton… and then shocked everyone with a stunning version of the show’s opening song.
Hamilton of course became a generation-defining musical that Miranda wrote the music, lyrics, and book for, in addition to playing the titular U.S. Treasury Secretary. Both as an Off-Broadway production at the Public Theater and Broadway behemoth, Hamilton made headlines and sold out performances. The musical won its creator international acclaim, numerous Tonys, Drama Desk Awards, and a Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It also paved the way for Miranda to have a career in Hollywood.
Starring in Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns (2018), Miranda has developed a close relationship with the Mouse House where he’s also written and co-written songs for Moana (2016), which he received an Oscar nomination for, and the upcoming The Little Mermaid remake. He is also an outspoken advocate for Puerto Rico where he spent summers with his grandparents growing up. After hurricanes Irma and María in 2017, Miranda has raised funds for rescue efforts and rebuilding, including by reprising the role of Alexander Hamilton in a touring production that began with performances in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In advance of the tour, his family donated $1 million to the University of Puerto Rico. And just for the record, he plays the voice of Gizmoduck on the new DuckTales.
Leslie Odom Jr. – Aaron Burr
Likely still best known for playing Aaron Burr both off and on Broadway, Leslie Odom Jr.’s theater career began well before Hamilton. Getting his start by playing the significant supporting part of Paul on Broadway in Rent in 1998 (Odom was aged 17 at the time), the actor moved into a stage career quickly while also pursuing a BFA at Carnegie Mellon University. Born in Queens and growing up in Philadelphia, Odom had a lifelong love of the theater, which led to him rising up through the wings where he played ensemble roles in Jersey Boys, Being Alive, and a concert version of Dreamgirls.
Odom’s first major starring role was as Isaiah Sturdevant in a musical version of Leap of Faith, both during its out of town tryout in Los Angeles and its Broadway debut in 2012. But he began his significant professional relationship with Lin-Manuel Miranda with an Encores! Concert performance of Tick, Tick… Boom!, a musical written by Rent composer Jonathan Larson that was not performed in his lifetime. It paved the way for Odom to land the second starring role of Hamilton when the musical premiered at the Public Theater in 2015 and on Broadway later that year. Odom would go on to win a Tony for Best Actor in a Musical by playing the trigger-happy vice president.
Beyond theater, Odom enjoys a successful recording career, releasing his first of two solo jazz albums, Leslie Odom Jr., in 2014 well-before playing Burr. He also has transitioned to Hollywood. Already having played smaller guest roles on network television shows like CSI: Miami and Smash, after Hamilton he had a starring role in Kenneth Branagh’s Murder on the Orient Express (2017) and played abolitionist William Still in 2019’s Harriet Tubman biopic, Harriet.
Daveed Diggs – Marquis de Lafayette / Thomas Jefferson
A musician, rapper, and writer as renowned for his musical career as his theatrical one before Hamilton, Daveed Diggs’ hip hop ability earned him the distinction of “fastest rapper on Broadway” with the ability to speed through 19 words in three seconds during Layfette’s solo in “Guns and Ships”—though he jokes in the rap world that is only “medium fast.” Still, it was that ability that led Lin-Manuel Miranda to invite Daveed Diggs to early Hamilton workshops in 2012.
Before that Diggs had developed notoriety for being the lead vocalist and writer for experimental hip hop and rap group, Clipping. Joining William Huston and Jonathan Snipes in 2010 on the west coast scene, the group released their first mixtape album, midcity, in 2013. Diggs also enjoyed a theatrical career before either Clipping or Hamilton. In fact, after growing up in Oakland, he attended Brown University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Theatre Arts. He then initially pursued work in experimental theater, including on the national tour for Marc Bamuthi Joseph’s Word Becomes Flesh, as well as work in regional Shakespeare productions, including playing Caliban in a San Francisco production of The Tempest.
Since playing Lafayette and Jefferson in Hamilton both at the Public Theater and on Broadway, winning a Tony for the latter, Diggs has pursued a multimedia career that includes the vastly underrated Blindspotting, an indie film that includes poetic verse interludes that Diggs co-wrote and produced. He earned a Spirit Award nomination for Best Male Lead for his performance. He also did a major stint on ABC’s Black-ish before starring in The Get Down and now Snowpiercer on TV. He also appeared in the movies Wonder, Velvet Buzzsaw, and Pixar’s upcoming Soul.
Christopher Jackson – George Washington
Before Hamilton for Christopher Jackson and Lin-Manuel Miranda, there was In the Heights. Indeed, Jackson played the supporting role of Benny opposite Miranda in that show during both its Off-Broadway and on Broadway runs in New York City. Yet even by that point, Jackson had already developed an impressive theatrical career, starring in his first Broadway musical at the age of 21 in the original cast of The Lion King.
After attending American Musical and Dramatic Academy, the Illinois-born Jackson broke into theater with Time and the Wind Off-Broadway and then as part of the ensemble in Disney’s groundbreaking The Lion King in 1997. He would go on to play the lead role of Simba in the show several years later. Afterward, he starred in a number of major productions that include Memphis, Cotton Club Parade for the Encores! Concert series, and Bronx Bombers, in which he played a singing and dancing version of Derek Jeter. He left that production though to work again with his playwright pal on Hamilton. In addition to starring in the off and on Broadway productions of the show, Jackson is the only Hamilton cast member besides Miranda who was with the musical since the beginning, playing the rapping-on-metronome American president in the show’s 2014 Vassar Workshop.
Since Hamilton, Jackson has added to his TV credits by appearing in Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us and Apple TV’s Central Park. He also confirmed to Den of Geek earlier this year he has a cameo in the In the Heights movie and will be appearing in Miranda’s upcoming film version of Jonathan Larson’s Tick, Tick… Boom!
Phillipa Soo – Eliza Schuyler Hamilton
The daughter of a Chinese-American father and European-American mother, Phillipa Soo was fresh out of Juiliard when she landed her first major starring role in a musical. That production, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, was Dave Malloy’s ambitious adaptation of a 70-page segment of Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace. Soo originated the role of Natasha Rostova in the musical’s three original Off-Broadway runs between 2012 and 2013. And it was during one of these performances that Hamilton director Thomas Kail and Lin-Manuel Miranda were in attendance. Afterward they asked her to read for the lead role of Eliza, the Schuyler Sister who would become Alexander Hamilton’s wife.

Soo originated the role of Eliza both at the Public Theater and on Broadway, earning a Tony nomination for Best Actress in a Musical. Soo would go on to star in the eponymous role of the Broadway adaptation of Amélie in 2017, being nominated again for a Tony. Later that same year, she starred in The Parisian Woman, an original play by Beau Willimon, for a limited run between November 2017 and March 2018. She also starred in CBS’ short-lived military legal drama series, The Code.
Renée Elise Goldsberry – Angelica Schuyler
Winning the Tony for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her rendition of Angelica, Renée Elise Goldsberry was another of the breakout stars of the original Hamilton cast. Born in San Jose, California before growing up in Texas and Michigan, Goldsberry began her career in equal parts television and theater. After graduating with a BFA from Carnegie Mellon University, and then earning a Master of Music in Jazz Studies at the University of Southern California’s Thornton School of Music, Goldsberry went on to appear in a national tour of Dreamgirls and make her first appearance on Ally McBeal in the same year, 1997. Appearing as one of the backup singers behind Vonda Shepard on the Fox drama, Goldsberry appeared in 43 episodes between ’97 and 2002. On Broadway she’d go on to star as Nala in The Lion King, as Mimi in Rent, and originate the role of Nettie Harris in the original Broadway cast of The Color Purple in 2005.
In television, her credits include a 272-episode stint on One Life to Live, guest spots on Star Trek: Enterprise, Royal Pains, Masters of Sex, Documentary Now!, and The Following, and a major recurring role as Geneva Pine on The Good Wife. More recently she is among the stars of Netflix’s Altered Carbon and featured in a supporting role in Trey Edward Shults and A24’s Waves.
Anthony Ramos – John Laurens / Philip Hamilton
The upcoming star of the In the Heights movie, where Ramos plays a role that Lin-Manuel Miranda originated and wrote, Ramos’ life has turned out quite a bit different than he initially planned. How could it not when in high school he intended to pursue NCAA Division III Basketball and then a career in basketball coaching? Instead the Brooklyn born Ramos got a full scholarship to the American Musical and Dramatic Academy, a conservatory for the performing arts, and graduated from its musical theatre program in 2011. A year later he appeared in a supporting role of In the Heights’ touring production before starring in Radio City Music Hall’s short-lived Heart and Lights. Seriously, it was cancelled during previews.
That turned out to be a blessing though, as it led Ramos to audition for Hamilton, securing him the dual role of Hamilton’s doomed BFF John Laurens and then Hamilton’s doomed firstborn son, Philip, in both the Public Theater and Broadway productions of the show. Miranda clearly thinks Ramos is looking for a breakout role, particularly after starring in a memorable supporting role in Bradley Cooper’s A Star is Born remake, as Lady Gaga’s bestie Ramon, and featuring in supporting roles in Godzilla: King of the Monsters and Trolls World Tour. In the Heights should be it.
Okieriete Onaodowan – Hercules Mulligan / James Madison
The cast member to stay the longest on Hamilton, Okieriete Onaodowan played the wildly different roles of Hercules Mulligan, an American spy on the British Army in New York, and founding father and future U.S. president, James Madison. The son of Nigerian immigrants, Onaodowan was born in Newark, New Jersey where he began pursuing professional theater after high school. Appearing in numerous off and off-off-Broadway productions, Onaodowan eventually broke through by appearing as “Rock & Roll Boyfriend” in the national tour of Green Day’s American Idiot musical. Afterward he appeared in a 2012 Broadway production of Cyrano de Bergerac.
In 2014 he was the understudy for the role of Apollo Creed in the short-lived Broadway musical version of Rocky but then achieved stardom with Hamilton, both at the Public and on Broadway. He also took over the leading role of Pierre Bezukhov from Josh Groban in the Broadway version of The Comet of 1812. He also has numerous TV credits that include Blue Bloods, Ballers, Girls, The Get Down, Grey’s Anatomy, and an episode of BoJack Horseman.
Jasmine Cephas Jones – Peggy Schuyler / Maria Reynolds
Before she played the relentlessly insistent Peggy, Brooklyn born Jasmine Cephas Jones had already begun a film and television career that included supporting roles in Blue Bloods and Noah Baumbach’s Mistress America. A graduate of the Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre, Hamilton was only her second stage credit, and first one on Broadway. Since then she’s also played Roxanne opposite Peter Dinklage in a musical version of Cyrano de Bergerac, and appeared in Baumbach’s Marriage Story as well as Stella Meghie’s The Photograph.
Jones has also pursued a musical career with her debut album Blue Bird. And in a little bit of Hamilton trivia, she is married in real-life to Anthony Ramos, whom she met in the Public Theater production of the musical.
Jonathan Groff – King George III
Wow, from Kristoff to Mad King George, Jonathan Groff is really showing his range on Disney+ these days! Yep, one of the most well-known mainstream actors pre-Hamilton, Groff made himself a household name, at least with musical theater and animation geeks, by playing Kristoff in Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Frozen (which he reprised in last year’s Frozen II). He also played the recurring villainous and then redeemed (I guess) Jesse St. James on Fox’s now infamous Glee.
Prior to any of that though, Groff came from the theater, beginning his career straight out of high school and breaking through with the starring role of Melchior Gabor in Spring Awakening. Originating the role both Off and then on Broadway in 2006, he received a Tony nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for the performance. He followed that up with a Shakespeare in the Park production of Hair in 2007.
Groff went on to be nominated for a Tony for his show-stealing mugging as foppish, Top 40-listening King George–a nice feat since he was the only Original Broadway cast member who did not appear in the Public Theater production. And most recently he starred on stage as Seymour to rave reviews in an Off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors. But he’s probably best known to many now as Holden Ford, the FBI special agent with a very peculiar fascination with serial killers in the David Fincher-produced Netflix series, Mindhunter.

Artificial intelligence is energy-hungry. New hardware could curb its appetite.
To just solve a puzzle or play a game, artificial intelligence can require software running on thousands of computers. That could be the energy that three nuclear plants produce in one hour.
A team of engineers has created hardware that can learn skills using a type of AI that currently runs on software platforms. Sharing intelligence features between hardware and software would offset the energy needed for using AI in more advanced applications such as self-driving cars or discovering drugs.
“Software is taking on most of the challenges in AI. If you could incorporate intelligence into the circuit components in addition to what is happening in software, you could do things that simply cannot be done today,” said Shriram Ramanathan, a professor of materials engineering at Purdue University.
AI hardware development is still in early research stages. Researchers have demonstrated AI in pieces of potential hardware, but haven’t yet addressed AI’s large energy demand.
As AI penetrates more of daily life, a heavy reliance on software with massive energy needs is not sustainable, Ramanathan said. If hardware and software could share intelligence features, an area of silicon might be able to achieve more with a given input of energy.
Ramanathan’s team is the first to demonstrate artificial “tree-like” memory in a piece of potential hardware at room temperature. Researchers in the past have only been able to observe this kind of memory in hardware at temperatures that are too low for electronic devices.
The results of this study are published in the journal Nature Communications.
The hardware that Ramanathan’s team developed is made of a so-called quantum material. These materials are known for having properties that cannot be explained by classical physics.

Ramanathan’s lab has been working to better understand these materials and how they might be used to solve problems in electronics.
Software uses tree-like memory to organize information into various “branches,” making that information easier to retrieve when learning new skills or tasks.
The strategy is inspired by how the human brain categorizes information and makes decisions.
“Humans memorize things in a tree structure of categories. We memorize ‘apple’ under the category of ‘fruit’ and ‘elephant’ under the category of ‘animal,’ for example,” said Hai-Tian Zhang, a Lillian Gilbreth postdoctoral fellow in Purdue’s College of Engineering. “Mimicking these features in hardware is potentially interesting for brain-inspired computing.”
The team introduced a proton to a quantum material called neodymium nickel oxide. They discovered that applying an electric pulse to the material moves around the proton. Each new position of the proton creates a different resistance state, which creates an information storage site called a memory state. Multiple electric pulses create a branch made up of memory states.
“We can build up many thousands of memory states in the material by taking advantage of quantum mechanical effects. The material stays the same. We are simply shuffling around protons,” Ramanathan said.
Through simulations of the properties discovered in this material, the team showed that the material is capable of learning the numbers 0 through 9. The ability to learn numbers is a baseline test of artificial intelligence.
The demonstration of these trees at room temperature in a material is a step toward showing that hardware could offload tasks from software.
“This discovery opens up new frontiers for AI that have been largely ignored because implementing this kind of intelligence into electronic hardware didn’t exist,” Ramanathan said.
The material might also help create a way for humans to more naturally communicate with AI.
“Protons also are natural information transporters in human beings. A device enabled by proton transport may be a key component for eventually achieving direct communication with organisms, such as through a brain implant,” Zhang said.
Researchers at the University of California, San Diego, studied the quantum material test strips. The team used synchrotron facilities at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Brookhaven and Argonne National Laboratories to demonstrate that an electric pulse can move protons within neodymium nickel oxide. Other collaborating institutions are the University of Illinois, the University of Louisville and the University of Iowa.
The work was supported by the Lillian Gilbreth Fellowship from Purdue University’s College of Engineering, the Air Force Office of Scientific Research, and the U.S. Department of Energy.

Trees are used by animals, humans and machines to classify information and make decisions. Natural tree structures displayed by synapses of the brain involves potentiation and depression capable of branching and is essential for survival and learning. Demonstration of such features in synthetic matter is challenging due to the need to host a complex energy landscape capable of learning, memory and electrical interrogation. We report experimental realization of tree-like conductance states at room temperature in strongly correlated perovskite nickelates by modulating proton distribution under high speed electric pulses. This demonstration represents physical realization of ultrametric trees, a concept from number theory applied to the study of spin glasses in physics that inspired early neural network theory dating almost forty years ago. We apply the tree-like memory features in spiking neural networks to demonstrate high fidelity object recognition, and in future can open new directions for neuromorphic computing and artificial intelligence.

Much to your delight and slight worry two weeks had passed without John and Lafayette bringing up your blunder outside the coffee shop. John was ever cheerful and with everyone having a full course load it seemed that he didn’t have time to worry about the fact that you were obviously flying by the seat of your pants with this “internship” or so you were inclined to believe. Lafayette was the one who made you worry. He hadn’t brought up the subject up, but you could tell by the odd looks suspicion that were always followed with a glint of amusement in reaction to how uncomfortable you looked that he was biding his time. Lafayette always knew when you were lying and you were on edge waiting for the moment he finally decided to pounce.
Last week Thomas had told you there was a new collection of books arriving from his parent’s home in Virginia that he would be adding to the library’s vintage and rare book section. You were set to meet him Wednesday evening to help look through the titles and organize them, on top of that he had promised to play you a song on his violin. He had finally admitted to you that he played when you had accidentally knocked over a stack of handwritten sheet music off a shelf in his study. Curiously he had never once played you that song you had walked in on him playing that day at school.
Economics was as eventful as ever, your professor had assigned a project for students to pair up and come up with a solution to help lessen the budget deficit within the government. Alexander had automatically claimed you as his partner that would help him take down his “enemies” in the class. You wanted to roll your eyes but the idea of the debate the professor was putting on was bringing out your competitive side. Thomas might be your friend, but there was no way you were going to let your emotions get in the way of the last big project of the semester.
“I think our ideas will blow everyone out of the water,” Alex said triumphantly.
“Don’t forget Jefferson is well versed in foreign government. He will most likely pull ideas from what other countries are doing at the moment. We have to stay on top of that so he doesn’t surprise us,” you commented without looking up from the laptop.
Alex shared a desk with you and set off researching topics from France because he assumed that would be Thomas’s country of choice to pull ideas from. He wasn’t wrong, you agreed one hundred percent. You glanced up and gazed across the room. Thomas and James were both engrossed in their notebooks. Thomas looked up to grab a book and made eye contact with you. His lips turned up into that arrogant smirk and you returned one back in return. You quickly grab your phone from your back before opening a new text. You could tell by the look in his eye that he was confident in what he was working on.
(Y/N) 1:40pm - You’re looking pretty confident over there. -
The Asshole 1:42 - You don’t think you’re going to win this debate do you? I’m not going to take it easy on you because I care about you. -
Because I care about you. You stared at your phone for a moment letting those words sink in. Don’t overthink that, you are just friends (Y/N).
(Y/N) 1:48 - I wouldn’t expect anything less. We still good for Wednesday? -
The Asshole 1:49 - Of course.
“Who are you texting?” Alexander teased and attempted to look at your phone.
“Just a friend,” you laugh. Keep telling yourself that.
Lafayette hummed along with the music flowing through his earbuds as he walked into the library Wednesday evening. He was on the hunt for a book to reference for cake decorating for his pastry class. Browsing quietly he found a few books that seemed promising before settling in at a table. Almost thirty minutes had passed when he heard a familiar voice approaching and he looked up from the books.
(Y/N) was walking towards the rare book section happily talking to Thomas Jefferson of all people. He was carrying a box and was laughing at what (Y/N) had said. Lafayette couldn’t help but stare in shock as he leaned forward to watch them disappear around the corner.
“Mon Dieu!”
He quickly jumped up, shoved all of the books into his bag, and scurried around the corner. Stopping quickly when he spotted them a few aisles away, he ducked behind one of the bookcases. The box Thomas had been carrying was now sitting on a table and they were both pulling small stacks of books out and were cataloging the titles onto a spreadsheet.
“These are going to be great additions to the collection Thomas,” (Y/N) said with a wide smile.
“I figured you would be excited about them.”
They continued to catalog all of the books and started making organized piles so they could quickly put them onto the shelves. As Thomas moved to the shelf closest to them and started placing the books while Lafayette backed off slightly to stay out of sight. This was better than anything he could of expected. He knew (Y/N) was lying about an internship but he never considered that she was spending time with Jefferson. I can’t wait to talk to her about this.
“So about dinner last weekend, I was thinking I should return the favor and cook for you,” Thomas mused.
“Is that so? I guess that’s fair since I refused the first time I was at your place. I’ve been curious about if that fancy ass kitchen is just for show or not,” she teased.
Well, well they have been in each other’s houses. She has cooked him dinner even.
“I’ll have you know I’m a great cook. If you don’t believe me ask Gil.”
“Looks like you will have to prove it to me sometime then. I’m going to be working on the economics project with Alex on Friday, but I should be done around 7 if you wanted to still watch a movie at my place,” (Y/N) commented.
“That works for me. James and I are working on ours as well….”
Lafayette slowly made his way toward the exit of the library. No wonder (Y/N) had been so worried about what had happened at the coffee shop. If Alexander or Hercules found out about this they would lose their minds. They still were plotting off and on how they wanted to get back at Jefferson for that insult a few months ago. He could only imagine how they would react if they knew about this secret relationship.
“I’m going to have to talk to her as soon as possible,” he said to himself as he walked down the street.
“God damn him!” Alexander slammed his bag on the the table causing both Eliza and you to jump.
“What happened now?” You shot him an annoyed look.
“Was it Jefferson?” Eliza asked with a concerned look.
“No! I’m so tired of Burr! He never will take a side on anything! He had the nerve to tell me people don’t like me. Can you believe that?”
“Well to be fair Alex you are one of the mouthiest people on campus so that’s not an outrageous claim,” you retort.
Alexander tried his best to look outraged, “That is besides the fucking point. If there is one other person on this earth I can’t stand besides Jefferson… it’s Burr. You should see him in our politics class! He skims by without really telling anyone anything on his stances. It’s shady, he is shady.”
Well at least Thomas and Alexander had one thing in common, they both can’t stand Aaron Burr. Thomas had told you all about how Burr had tried to upstage him in the class elections, but he was able to come out on top. Alexander didn’t like him because he never seemed to have an opinion about anything and then had the nerve to insult him for always having to much to say. He didn’t take kindly to being told to talk less, even though you were inclined to believe that was actually some sound advice because Alexander was always getting himself into situations because of his quick tongue.
A chorus of hellos brought you back to the present and you realized John, Herc, Laf, Angelica, and Peggy were all gathering around the table. They were all happily chatting about how the semester was almost over and that means a small amount of stress lifted for the time being.
“So (Y/N) your birthday is this weekend! We all know what that means,” Eliza said with a smile.
“PARTY!!” They all chorused.
“I don’t know guys…” you begin.
“Oh hell no. It’s your birthday and it’s been months since we have all gone out and had fun. You have been blowing us off long enough, we are going out for your birthday,” John complained.
It was true. It had been a long time since you had gone out and hit the bars or went dancing. You had been neglecting your friends lately and getting dolled up and hitting the town did sound like a fun.
“Oh all right. Let’s do it!”
“Saturday. You put on that cute sparkly dress that you’ve been saving for a special occasion and we are going to treat you to the best night out ever. We are going to that new club that just opened!” Angelica practically squealed with excitement.
“You will be able to get away from that job without an issue right?” John questioned.
“It won’t be a problem at all,” you say nonchalantly waving your hand.
As you walked away after aggressively planning the party out and arguing with them all about whether there needed to be cake, everyone had compromised on cupcakes.  You were so deep in thought about how you hoped the night would go that you didn’t hear the footsteps quickly coming up behind you.
“(Y/N)! J'ai besoin de te parler,” Lafayette was saying as he ran to catch up with you.
“Hey French Dip, what’s up?”
He gestured for you to follow him and grabbed you hand as he lead you down a hallway away from everyone and sat down on a bench.
“Okay… What the hell is going on Laf?” You bite out, “You said you needed to talk to me, not drag me down the damn halls.
“Is there anything you would like to tell me about?” He gave you a stern look.
“Uhhh. Could you be more specific?”
Anxiety was running high at this point when you saw the look in his eyes that said “you can’t be serious”. Oh God, this is it. He is confronting me about the coffeeshop.
“There is no internship.” It wasn’t a question it was a full blown statement as he looked you in the eye daring you to try to lie to him again.
Your breath caught in your throat as you struggled to form a response that would sound convincing.
“What? That’s silly Laf. The internship is at…”
“I saw you (Y/N), in the library on Wednesday last week. You walked right past me with Thomas as I was studying,” he accused you with a glint of amusement in his eyes.
“I… I um… oh that,” you stutter quietly trying to regain your composure.
Fuck, fuck, fuck, shit. Laf was watching you expectantly. He looked so incredibly smug as he rested his chin on his hand. You knew he had been waiting to strike about catching you in a lie but the fact that he had actually seen you with Thomas had you sweating nervously. He’s the one that said I should give him a chance in the first place!
“Oui that.” He had a wide smile now.
“I’ve been seeing him and Angelica was covering for me by coming up with the internship,” you confess.
“Quelle!? Pourquoi ne m'as-tu pas dit? Je savais que Thomas pouvait vous montrer combien il se soucie de vous! Je ne peux pas croire que tu rencontres!” Lafayette practically shouted wide eyed. (What?! Why didn’t you tell me? I knew Thomas could show you how much he cares about you! I can’t believe you are dating!)
“Whoa! No! We aren’t dating. What the fuck Laf? We are just friends! We have been hanging out, nothing more,” you pressed. Why does calling him a friend seem harder to believe?
The wide excited smile on Lafayette’s face quickly turned to a look of disappointment and confusion. You couldn’t help but feel as disappointed as he looked, but telling him the truth about what you had been doing lifted a weight from your shoulders. In truth the only reason you hadn’t confided in Laf like you normally would was because of stubbornness. He was the one that told you Thomas was a good person and you told him you would never be his friend. Yet here we are..
“Oh… you aren’t dating? I must have misunderstood, you said you were how you say, "seeing each other”. I just assumed, forgive me. You are friends then? How did this happen? Why didn’t you tell me?“
Laf seemed sad that you had been keeping this secret from him as he asked you more questions about what had been going on. You answered all of his questions and filled him in on what had been going on. He was surprised that Thomas had taken the bold move to invite you his house. As you detailed your interactions a knowing look had settled onto his features.
"As I have heard Angelica say before… ‘you have it bad’,” Laf said with a smile.
“Oh shut it Laf! Okay I’ll admit he is attractive and you were right there is a lot more to him than he lets people see. You aren’t mad at me for lying to you?” You felt awful that you hadn’t told Lafayette about this situation sooner.
“Non. I understand completely. I will help you.”
“Help me? What do you mean?” You gave him a confused look.
“I’m going to help you keep this from Alexander, John, and Hercules. I understand why you did this. I will talk to Angelica and we will try to keep them from finding out about what’s going on with Thomas,” Laf smiled warmly and pulled you into a hug.
“Thank you so much Laf. You don’t know how much that means to me.”
Thomas was stretched out casually on the floor of your apartment leaning against the couch. You were lounging on the couch, Beauty and the Beast was half over on your television. You absentmindedly twirled your fingers through the ends of a small portion of Thomas’s tight curls as you watched Belle twirl around the ballroom in her signature yellow dress. You let out a sigh.
“What’s wrong (Y/N)? Thomas said looking up at you.
"Huh? Oh nothing Thomas. I just love this part of the movie, always have,” you comment without looking away from the screen.
“Something is bothering you, you’ve been distracted a lot these last few days,” Thomas pointed out.
“It’s my birthday tomorrow… everyone insisted on going out and dancing.”
“That should be fun. You are going to have a great time,” he said his voice seemed more hollow than normal.
“It will be… I just wish you were going to be there. I wish we could all just go out and be together without it causing world war three,” you lament quietly.
“How about I cook you a nice birthday dinner at my place? Let’s just turn off the movie and go now.”
The movie was quickly switched off and you quickly grabbed your bag and coat.
Thomas swept into the large kitchen in his home. You slowly followed him into the open room. He had rolled up the sleeves of his button up to above the elbow showing off his toned forearms. He also undid the top few buttons on his shirt because of the heat that was going to be generated from cooking dinner. You tried not to stare, but you weren’t going to complain. This was for your birthday after all.
“So what are you going to cook? Can I help?”
“I’m going to cook my specialty. No you may not help! This is your birthday dinner,” he shooed you away from the stove.
You sat down at the island and watched him rustle through the pantry. There was an odd looking antique metal contraption sitting in the corner that caught your attention. Thomas turned around with his arms full of clear containers of assorted noodles.
“Penne, rotini, farfalle, shells, or traditional elbow?” Thomas asked as he sat the containers down in front of you.
You stared at the containers and then raised an eyebrow at Thomas. You looked over the types of noodles and weighed your options.
“Um… rotini? I guess. Hey Thomas what is that contraption in the pantry?”
“Oh that? It’s an antique noodle press. I use it to make all the noodles,” he said matter-of-factually with his back turned to you as he put the water on the stove.
“You made all those noodles? From scratch?”
“What kind of cheese do you like?”
“Parmesan and cheddar I suppose…” you say slowly, “Thomas are you making macaroni and cheese?”
“Don’t sound so shocked, it’s delicious. It’s the best when it’s baked and made from scratch,” he said proudly.
The noodles boiled and you laugh to yourself as you watched Thomas meticulously grate cheese. You had no idea that his most absolute favorite food was macaroni and cheese. The idea of someone has sophisticated as Thomas being in love with such a simple food was hilarious at the very least. Of course he was making it in the most complicated and classiest way possible. He pulled a baking pan out and started layering the noodles and cheese before putting bread crumbs on the top and he put it into the oven.
“Well it needs to bake for a little while and then dinner will be served M'Lady.”
You couldn’t help but laugh. It had been almost 45 minutes and Thomas hadn’t let you help with anything.
“You know macaroni is the least sophisticated of all pastas right? I can’t believe it’s your favorite food. I could’ve made that in three minutes in a microwave,” you teased.
Thomas turned around and looked horrified, “How dare you!? That instant microwave joke of a meal is vile. The handmade molten goodness that is in the oven right now is pure heaven! You’ll change your mind when you taste it!”
You hadn’t expected the passionate reaction from Thomas and an idea floated through your mind. You smirked as you opened your phone and went to Thomas’s contact. You hit the edit button and quickly deleted ‘The Asshole’ as his name and typed in 'EZ Mac’. You giggled to yourself.
“I’ll be the judge of that,” you continue to tease.
Thomas pulled out dishes and silverware and went to set the table.
“You aren’t even going to let me help set the table?” You pout.
“Nope, I told you I’m treating you tonight,” he said as he breezed past you with some wine glasses.
When the buzzer sounded and he pulled the dish out you had to admit it did look delicious. Thomas smiled when he caught you staring hungrily. He led you into the dining room and you both sat down.
Thomas sat down slowly and watched (Y/N) as she took the first bite of her food. She closed her eyes as she savored what she had just tasted and he felt satisfied.
“Okay, I admit it Thomas this is amazing,” she admitted with a smile.
“Anything for you, happy birthday (Y/N),” Thomas said sincerely as he raised his glass.
Her eyes snapped up and met his and a blush worked it’s way across her cheeks. He loved it when she blushed when he said things like that. He smiled back at her and continued to eat. I don’t know how much longer I’m going to be able to keep this up.
Two helpings macaroni and two glasses of wine later (Y/N) was laughing and trying to pull information from him about the debate coming up next week.
“You know you want to tell me. Come on Thomas it’s my birthday,” (Y/N) crooned.
Thomas swirled his wine slowly in the glass and smirked, “Pulling the birthday card on me? I haven’t drank nearly enough wine to fall for that routine.”
“Damn… are you absolutely sure you won’t tell me anything?” She pouted slightly before taking another drink.
“I’m absolutely sure you are beautiful.”
The words had fallen from his lips before he could stop himself. My God… I’ve apparently had enough wine to make a fool out of myself. He stared at (Y/N) nervously, she slowly put her wine glass down and looked him in the eye.
“I… um… so we should get these dishes taken care of,” she stuttered as she got up and started picking up her plate.
“Hey! No, no I’ll take care of those! I told you it’s your birthday dinner and you shouldn’t have to do a thing,” he exclaimed.
“Oh no you don’t Thomas Jefferson! You cooked me dinner and let me drink your wine. I’m going to help you clean up!”
Thomas watched as she snatched the plate from his spot and retreated into the kitchen quickly. He slowly went to pick up the wine glasses.
“Why did I say that? I called her beautiful and she basically ran off. Damn it,” he quietly berated himself.
You quickly put the plates in the sink and grabbed the pot from the stove. You weren’t sure what to think of what Thomas had said at the table. He had looked so sincere and you could tell it was something he wasn’t planning on saying. You didn’t have much time to think on it before Thomas made his way into the kitchen carrying the bottle of wine and the glasses.
“Here let me wash them, you can dry them and put them away,” he tried to compromise.
“Sounds good,” you say trying to reel in your feelings. Just play it cool…
“So are you excited about going out tomorrow? You never said where you were going,” Thomas mentioned as he washed the plates.
“Oh! It’s some new dance club that just opened. Yeah I’m excited, it’s been a long time since we all went out,” you say before letting out a sign.
“What’s bothering you? Seriously (Y/N) you can tell me,” he pressed.
Everything, but right now your handsome face is high on the list of things that is bothering me.
“It’s nothing Thomas. I was just hoping that I look good enough tomorrow. Angelica, Eliza, and Peggy always look so good and I just feel like I’m inadequate when I’m around them when we go out,” you confess as you put down the glass you were drying.
Thomas dried his hands quickly on the towel sitting by the sink and turned to face you. He was so close that you could almost feel the heat that was blazing in his brown eyes. Your eyes widened and your heart was hammering out of control
“Listen to me, you are going to look amazing,” Thomas whispered drawing closer to you, “You are the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen.”
You felt his hands cautiously touch your hips as he pulled you closer to him. Holy shit… holy shit.
“So beautiful…” was all he whispered before he pressed his lips to yours.
As he slowly pulled away you felt like you were in a daze. The kiss was quick but he had poured every bit of emotion and longing into it. As he went to take a step back you grabbed the front of his shirt and kiss him again. His fingers tightened on your hips and you wrapped an arm around his neck as he backed you into the edge of the counter.
As you deepened the kiss you could feel his hands working up your sides. His hips had you pinned against the side of the counter. God yes. You grabbed the edge of the counter with one hand to steady yourself and barely registered the feeling of your elbow grazing something. He had just begun to trail kisses along your jaw when you heard glass shatter.
The sound snapped you out of your daze and you practically leap apart. You were both breathing heavily and you turned to see one of the wine glasses that had been sitting on the counter was now lying broken in the sink.
“I…I’m sorry. I should go, it’s um… getting really late,” you fumble as you rush out of the kitchen.
Stupid! What the fuck was that?! Oh my god how could I do that?!
You ran into the living room trying to find your coat and purse so you could leave. This could not be happening. Sure you had thought about what it would be like to kiss Thomas and that had felt better than anything your imagination had concocted, but now what? You had to get out of there, you knew the feelings you had been trying to ignore were running rampant and you were not ready to have the conversation that the kiss would start. God, God, God…
“(Y/N)! Wait!” Thomas came rushing into the living room behind you. Shit.
“Sorry I have to go,” you stamper not trusting yourself to look him in the eye.
Hurrying towards the door you were stopped when Thomas grabbed your hand.
“Please wait, I’m sorry,” he begged, “If you’re going to leave at least take your birthday present.”
Thomas picked up a carefully wrapped rectangular package off the small table in the entryway and held it out to you. You steal a glance at his face and he looked defeated. You mumbled a thanks and slip the gift into your purse before retreating out of his house.
Thomas stared at the spot (Y/N) had been standing for what felt like an eternity. He didn’t know what to do or what to say about what had just occurred. He hadn’t planned on kissing her like he had, but she was there and so close, he just couldn’t stop himself. He slowly turned on his heels and trudged to the kitchen. He paused letting his brown eyes scan the counter where you had just been and looked in the sink at the broken wine glass.
“What the fuck was I thinking?”
He turned and leaned against the counter and his thoughts wandered to a conversation he had with Lafayette a few days prior.
“Shut up Gil, we are friends.”
“Oui that’s what (Y/N) told me but we both know that isn’t what you want,” Laf said with a sly smile.
“Well it really doesn’t matter what I want now does it. She made it pretty clear to you that we are just friends,” Thomas snapped.
“I think we both know that there is something between you. It’s totally obvious, even Angelica says so.”
“I don’t know what to do, OKAY! Happy now?! I thought becoming her friend would make it easier, but it’s made it a thousand times worse,” he said with an exasperated sign.
Lafayette rolled his eye and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“Just tell her how you feel! Make her dinner. Seriously do you have no skill at all?”
Thomas ran his hands through his curls and sighed. He had told Lafayette he was going to try his best to tell (Y/N) how he felt. He had planned on dropping a few hints and gauging her reaction to them.
“I just wanted to tell her she was beautiful not attempt to seduce her on my counter. Damn it…”
Thomas left the kitchen without cleaning the broken glass. That could wait until the morning. He made his way upstairs and stripped off his clothes and collapsed onto his bed. His mind was consumed with thoughts of how he should proceed. He wanted to call her, apologize, and beg for forgiveness but decided to wait and see if she would talk to him tomorrow. All he could do was hope he hadn’t make the biggest mistake of his life and ruin everything as sleep overtook him.
It was officially your birthday, which meant tonight was the night that you were hitting the club. The party however was the furthest thing from your mind after what had happened with Thomas. With your phone constantly going off with endless notifications from Facebook and various text messages from friends wishing you a happy birthday you were on edge. Every time your phone went off you were nervous that it was Thomas. The thought of what he might say and what you could say had been a constant worry since you had gotten up this morning. You had retreated like a coward the night before, running away from the feelings you had been trying so hard to repress. What if he wanted to forget it happened? That would be impossible. What if he confessed that he wanted to date? Best case scenario with a lot of variables. The what ifs was killing you and even though you dreaded what he might say his silence was also making you nervous.
You stared at your phone as it read 7:00pm. Angelica had just went live on Instagram with Peggy and Eliza showing that they were getting ready for the evening ahead. You had spotted Alexander in the background with his nose in his notebook as usual. Angelica had stared into the camera after seeing that you had started watching and told you that you had better get your ass off the couch and start getting ready. You chuckled to yourself as you got off the couch, she knew you all to well.
Wandering into your closet you pushed all the clothes to the front to reveal a teal dress that still had its tags. Snatching it off the rung you held it up and smiled before laying it carefully across your bed. You quickly strip out of your clothes and put on your robe before making your way to the bathroom. You had just begun priming your face when you got a text from Angelica harassing you about getting ready, your only reply was a quick selfie to show you were indeed in the process.
You had managed to successfully finish your foundation and slight contouring and then you stopped and stared at your own reflection. You are the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen. Thomas’s voice floated through your head. You felt your face heat up as the memory was brought back.
“Nope, don’t you do this to yourself. Don’t think about him or his mouth. He hasn’t even said a word to you all day so tonight you not going to think about Thomas fucking Jefferson,” you command your own reflection.
“You did what now?” James asked looking up from his essay.
“I invited her here for dinner because of her birthday, I told her I thought she was beautiful, I kissed her… rather aggressively against my counter, and then she ran out of the house as fast as she could,” Thomas repeated as he sat another book on his dining room table.
“This is great! I was starting to think you were never going to make your move,” James said cheerfully.
“Were you not paying attention? She literally ran out of my house; like picked up her things and ran out the door and wouldn’t look me in the face! How exactly is that 'great’?”
“I was paying attention and didn’t you say she was the one that pulled you in for the second kiss? That shows she is interested, therefore that’s great and you can finally stop tip toeing around and moping about how you hate being in the friendzone,” James replied matter of factly.
“I haven’t even said anything to her today. The way she ran out of here I figured she could use some space.”
“You’re an idiot.”
“Excuse you?” Thomas said angrily.
“You haven’t said anything to her at all? She ran out of your house because she probably was to flustered to be able to handle the emotions she was feeling and then you go radio silent? It’s her birthday, the least you could do is say happy birthday. You need to make your move.”
Thomas picked up his phone and stared at a blank text message while he tried to figure out what he should say.
“Come on Thomas, make your move. Don’t freeze,” James pressed.
“Shut up! I’m trying!”
Thomas: 8:00pm - Hey I hope you have a great time tonight. Happy birthday.
You were working on blending your eyeshadow when your phone buzzed across your counter. You huffed and put your make up brush down.
“Damn it Angelica… I swear to god if you’re hounding me about getting ready…”
Fully expecting to see a text from the eldest sister you eyes widened when you saw the message was from Thomas. Hey I hope you have a great time tonight. Happy birthday. A scowl formed as you read the text. Your first instinct was to thank him, but you had promised yourself that you wouldn’t think about him tonight. Tonight was about you.
“He waited all day to say something… I think I’ll return the favor. I will just text him when I get up tomorrow,” you smirk.
When you had finished up your makeup you decided to leave your hair loose. Sliding on the teal dress and putting on your matching strappy heels. Standing in front of the mirror you examined your full reflection. The dress fit you perfectly. It had a fitted top with a flowing skirt that had an ombre that ended in a midnight blue right above your knees. There was a scattering of sparkling small crystals on the skirt fabric. The fabric flowed nicely when you swayed back and forth and the crystals glittered in the light. You nodded in approval, you looked damn good.
The club was incredibly crowded and the music was loud. You smiled as you felt the bass pump through you. John stood up on a chair and waved animatedly to get your attention and you laugh as Peggy pulled him down and started scolding him. Everyone cheered and wished you a happy birthday. Laf pulled out a square parcel and handed it to you. When you opened it you saw a delicious looking cupcake.
“Oh Laf you didn’t have to bake for me,” you shout over the music.
Lafayette waved you off and they all broke out into song before you ate the dessert. Red velvet. It was your favorite kind of cake.
“Laf holy shit this is so good,” you gush and he gave a cocky shrug in return.
A few drinks later and you were on the dance floor surrounded by your friends. Eliza and Alexander were dancing with each other and Peggy had wrangled John into dancing with her. There were plenty of attractive men here, but none of them were able to keep your attention. None of them are Thomas. Angelica didn’t miss how you were turning down invitations to dance from a few of these men and the slight frown that appeared when you saw the couples dancing.
“Damn it,” you hiss.
“What’s wrong? Are you missing a certain someone?” Angelica teased.
“I don’t want to talk about it Angie,” you lamented.
Angelica stopped dancing and grabbed your arm and started pulling you away from the dance floor.
“Where are you goin’ Ang,” asked Herc.
“Bathroom! We will be right back,” Angelica replied quickly.
You both hurried down the back hallway and stumbled into the bathroom. You crossed your arms immediately with irritation.
“Okay, what is going on? Did something happen with Jefferson?”
“Nothing happened,” you lied.
“Bullshit girl, you are lying. You play with the hem of your clothes when you are lying,” she challenged.
You swore to yourself as you slowly let go of the hem of your dress. You didn’t want anyone to know about what happened with Thomas. If Angelica found out about the kiss she would lose it and try to meddle in what you did next.
“It’s nothing,” you argue.
“If you don’t tell me I’ll go get Laf.”
“Jesus what the hell. I promised myself I wouldn’t think about him tonight, but that’s next to impossible. We kissed okay?! He invited me over last night for dinner and we kissed,” you snap.
“You WHAT?! Tell me everything!!”
“He kissed me. Oh my god Angie it was amazing, but then I broke one of his wine glasses, panicked, and then ran out of his house like an idiot.”
“You two are unbelievable. You are going to call him tomorrow and you are going to fix this. This is getting out of control. You like him, he likes you. Do something about it,” Angelica said flabbergasted.
“What about the guys? They want to destroy Thomas. It will be world war three every day,” you counter.
“Who gives a shit! They want you to be happy and if he makes you happy they will deal with it. Now let’s get back out there and have fun. You can worry about Thomas in the morning!”
When Thomas woke up in the morning the first thing he did was check his phone. The text shown as read, but still there was no reply. He rubbed his eyes slowly and sighed. Instagram was the next place he checked and there was a flood of pictures of (Y/N) dancing with her friends, drinking various types of drinks, eating a large fancy looking cupcake, she was smiling brightly and looked like she was having the time of her life. He took a long shower, taking extra time with his hair and then meticulously groomed his facial hair. It was almost 9AM by the time he sauntered out of the bathroom and got dressed. He looked up from buttoning his shirt when his phone lit up.
(Y/N) 8:50am: -Hey. Wanna meet me for coffee? We need to talk.-
We need to talk. That was a phrase that gave him both hope and anxiety. This could go very wrong or very right.
Thomas 8:53am: -Sounds good. Normal spot?-
(Y/N) 8:54am: - Yup -
After making the plan to meet up with Thomas you took a deep breathe. When you grabbed your larger purse so you could put your wallet in it, the bag was heavier than usual.
“What the hell…”
Looking into your bag you spot a magenta package. Pulling it out you realized it was the birthday present from Thomas that he had given you before you ran out of his house. It had gone forgotten when you arrived home and you used a small purse when you had gone out to the club. Carefully turning it over in your hands and sitting down on the couch you open it slowly. He had taken every bit of care in wrapping this gift. Once the piece of magenta paper was loose and had fallen to the ground you stared at the back cover of an extremely old looking book. Turning it over and carefully opened the cover to see the title page. You gasped as you read the title The Count of Monte Cristo. This was from his private collection, he had shown you this book one of the first times you had gone to his house. It was his favorite book in his collection if you recalled. You felt tears sting your eyes slightly, this was a perfect gift.
Taking extra care you placed the book on your nightstand in your room. You ran out of your apartment with a large smile on your face. You hailed a cab and told him the address of the very same coffee shop that you had chased Alexander out of. All you could do is hope for the very best when you met up with Thomas.
Alexander walking down the crowded city street, weaving back and forth between bodies. He had spent the last hour speaking with George Washington about what his plans were after graduation. He was already irritated, George wanted him to work for him, that wasn’t exactly what he had in mind. He had no idea why he hadn’t spent the night with Eliza and opted to go home. As he walked he looked across the street at the familiar coffee shop that he almost lived in. He could use the strongest coffee he could after the heated conversation he had this morning.
The familiar form of (Y/N) getting out of a cab quickly caught his attention. He smiled and sped up to catch her. She walked into the door before he was able to cross the street. Curiously he could see through the windows (Y/N) hadn’t gotten in line to get coffee, she had gone and immediately sat down at a table across from a very familiar mess a black curls. Alex stopped in his tracks.
“What the fuck is she doing here with Jefferson?” Alexander hissed.
He crept close enough to be able to see most of what was going on at the table, but since he was outside he couldn’t hear anything they were saying. They were smiling and she reached over and grabbed onto his hand. Rage bubbled to the surface as he watched Jefferson raise her hand to his lips and kiss the top of it. It took every ounce of his self control to not run into the coffee shop and make a scene. He winced when he thought of what Eliza would do if she found out he had done something like that. He was going to get to the bottom of this as fast as possible. He quickly shot off a text to squad saying their plans were cancelled. He had new plans: to confront (Y/N) as quickly as possible. They looked way too friendly in there and all the guys had grown suspicious of this internship. John had been joking that she probably had a secret boyfriend and with what he had just witnessed he was inclined to think John might be right. He shoved his hands in his pockets and walked away. There was something that was nagging at the back of his mind. Something that he had heard in passing at school. He stopped walking when he recalled something Aaron Burr had said to him about a week ago. Alex had been so angry about Burr saying people don’t like him that he had only half listened to the other things he had said to him.
“I’d watch your back if I was you Hamilton,” Aaron Burr said quietly.
“What the fuck are you talking about Burr?”
“Well I’ve heard through the grapevine around here that Jefferson has it out for you and your little friends,” Burr said with a smile, “He’s a charmer and is incredibly sly, he will pounce on the first weakness that he finds and exploit it.”
“Fuck off Burr, Jefferson isn’t going to exploit anything,” Alexander growled and shoved his way past Aaron.
Charmer. Pounce on the first weakness. Alexander was seething. Was Thomas low enough to try to seduce (Y/N) for the means of exploiting her feelings? He would like to believe he wouldn’t do such a thing, but his track record for being an arrogant self centered prick wasn’t doing him any favors.
“I’m going to put a stop to this right fucking now,” Alexander said.
You walked down the street after meeting Thomas at the coffee shop. You were buzzing with excitement. He didn’t regret the kiss, though he had apologized for how it had escalated. He had even invited you to the charity gala that the university’s wealthy families and students put together once a year. The Schuyler sisters went every year, as did Lafayette. They were from wealthy families that always donated to the charity event. Thomas of course was also one of the guests who attended every year. You had never had to worry about going to such a fancy event, until now.
Hambone 10:23am: - Hey we need to talk about something important are you free?-
(Y/N) 10:25am: - Um ok. Yeah I’m free, where are you? -
You looked at your phone with a raised eyebrow. Alex seemed upset for some reason. He never wanted to do anything on Sundays especially this early in the morning.
“I wonder if something had happened with the debate project,” you whispered to yourself.
Hambone 10:26am: - Little park a few blocks from the coffee shop -
He was only a few blocks away. Something about this seemed strange to you, but you shrugged and headed to the small park. After walking for a few minutes you turned to the left and went down the path into the park. Alexander was sitting at a bench a few yards away. You waved with a smile.
“Hey Alex. What’s going on?” You said cheerfully.
“So I’m going to cut right to the chase here…” he said angrily.
“Whoa Alex… calm down,” you reasoned.
“Uh no. You and Jefferson looked really friendly back there in the coffee shop.”
You felt like the air was sucked out of your lungs. He had seen you and he was angry. You knew they wouldn’t be happy about this, you knew Alex would act like this, but you were hoping to have more time to plan out how you were going to talk to them about the situation with Thomas.
“I can explain.”
“Are you out of your goddamn mind!? That’s Thomas Jefferson that you were making heart eyes at! He is a piece of shit (Y/N)! I can’t even believe this. Did you forget how he treats people? How about the things he has said to you?! He’s…” Alexander was in a full blown rage fueled rant.
“Stop it…” you were trembling.
“…always trying to screw us over! How long has this been going on? Is the internship real? I bet it isn’t. I seriously can’t believe you! Angelica and Laf are always standing up for you in this little internship story too… my god they fucking already knew about this didn’t they?! Did it ever occur to you that Jefferson is trying to screw with your feelings?”
“Stop it Alex,” you said a little louder.
“He is a self centered and arrogant. Not only that Burr told me that Jefferson had it out for us and that he is a 'charmer’ and 'that he will try to exploit weakness’! He is probably just trying to seduce you so that when he gets what he wants he can throw it back in our faces! He only cares about himself (Y/N)…
"STOP IT ALEXANDER HAMILTON!”
He stopped mid sentence and saw that you were shaking with angry tears streaming down your face.
“Oh (Y/N)… I..”
“NO! You shut your fucking mouth for once,” you roared, “You know what, I knew you were going to be mad when you found out about this, but I at least thought you would be respectful! Thomas had been nothing but kind to me since I gave him a chance! Laf is his friend too… I don’t see why you can’t just attempt to get along!”
“Oh of course he is being kind to you! He knows he can win you over so he can rub it in my face…”
“Not everything is about you Alexander! Is it so insane that he might not be some monster? I’m going to be his date to the gala. You aren’t going to ruin this for me Alex,” you conclude.
“But why?! He is awful. He is going to take advantage of you (Y/N)! I’m trying to help you before he does something awful,” he reasoned, “He doesn’t care about you, why would you want to date him?”
“BECAUSE I LOVE HIM!” You yelled.
Alex stared at you slack jawed. You were breathing heavily and the realization of what you had just shouted was creeping into your head. You stared at Alexander wide eyed. The silence between you was heavy and it was obvious that he had no idea what to say to your declaration.
“So you better just get over it Alex. I will see you in class tomorrow,” you said curtly before turning on your heels and storming away.

The album will be released September 13th.  Listen to the new single, “From Virtue (Sacrament)” and see HarborLights on tour through August 3rd.
Tumblr media
"The quartet puts instrumentals front and center by weaving their intricacies together to form a captivating rhythmic amalgamation of epic proportions." - Vanyaland
The newest addition to the ever-evolving Deathwish Inc. roster, New England natives HarborLights are thrilled to announce their debut LP for the label.  Titled Isolation Ritual, the album will be released on September 13th and today the band has premiered the album’s second single, “From Virtue (Sacrament).”
Listen to (and share) “From Virtue (Sacrament)” now on YouTube.
Since their formation about 8 years ago, HarborLights have released two split EPs and their powerful debut album Under the Spreading Chestnut Tree (2017).  At one of their local shows, with now labelmates Birds In Row, HarborLights’ explosive performance garnered attention from the Deathwish staffers in attendance.  A friendship was forged, and now the band’s debut album for the label is ready for the world.
Isolation Ritual was recorded by Mike Moschetto (NPR) at The Record Co. and Zach Weeks at God City Studios (who also handled mastering duties on the album).  This 10-song LP perfectly balances delicate melodies with dirge and discordance; their dynamic repertoire impressively shines on this sophomore full-length.  HarborLights will be on tour this July and August in anticipation of the Isolation Ritual release.  The band’s live performances are not to be missed; they create a space that is personable and palpable, and it’s apparent that the 4 members possess the same goal: connecting with others and bringing people together.

Being in a Polyamorous relationship with the Hamilsquad...
(So sorry I got carried away!!)
Your boys would be the sweetest in the world
Lafayette giving you adorable little pet names in French
“Mon petit ange doux, you look divine in that dress.”
Always buying a turtle plush for John everytime you take a trip to the store with one of the boys.
Here's how your multiple turtle purchases would go down...
Hercules stopped the grocery cart and reached out to catch your arm just as your hands wrapped around the small fluffy green animal with large sparkly blue eyes. He sighed as your large orbs met his, “Y/n, my sweet, I think John has got enough turtles by now don’t you-” The tall man was cut short as his other love stepped out from behind him, setting a box of uncooked noodles in the cart, then took the stuffed animal from your hands and set it in the overflowing cart. “Shush Hercules, let her get him the turtle. John loves them!” Alexander insisted. Hercules rolled his eyes and threw his hands up deciding the fight wasn’t worth. Y/n and Alex both erupted with happiness when seeing John’s reaction to the new additions to his collection that they gifted him with. Of course it warmed Hercules’ insides seeing his boyfriend so excited so he obliged and shook his head. “Fine, fine, but you two are going to explain this to Laf when he sees John’s getting yet another one.”
Hercules making you an endless supply of dresses
Cuddle sessions
You’d probably have a chores chart
John would be the biggest sweetheart out of the four
They’d be obsessed with making sure you’re always comfortable and know how much you’re loved
Random surprises at work
It would most likely be extremely awkward at the start, none of you sure what to do and how to go about a relationship involving five people but after a while things would smooth out
Movie nights galore!!
Giving the boys massages after long hard days
Alex ranting to you about his hatred for Jefferson
“He’s just a pathetic, spineless, pain in my ass! What the hell is his problem anyways, huh? I mean my god why doesn’t he just take the damn stick out of his mother fu-” “Alexander!”
Doodling with John in your free time
Braiding the boy’s hair
“My love, are those flowers that you’re-” “Shush. You like it Alex, stop pretending you don’t.”
Bringing Hercules lunch and modeling his work for him
Thousands of group selfies
You all would move into a spacious apartment in New York with a large master bedroom that you all shared
The boys being extremely overprotective of you and each other
“That guy won’t stop drooling over Y/n.” “Oh tell me about it, this girl over here won’t stop making googly eyes at Laf.”
They’d love to baby you despite your protests
After a long day at work Hercules would draw you a bath as Lafayette carried you in and helped wash you
Lafayette tying your hair up in a bun whenever the chance is presented
Shoulder kisses
The boys would love placing small pecks all over your face as a sign of greeting
You all had enough trust in each other so jealousy wasn’t a very common thing
But there’d be a time when out with the boys you would run into Thomas Jefferson and Alex would go into full jealousy mode
He’d insist Jefferson was flirting with you and would have his hand wrapped securely around your waist with John holding your hand and Hercules glaring daggers at the man as he chatted away with Laf
But even Laf would get uncomfortable with the way his dear friend was staring you up and down
“Ah and this must be the lovely Y/n. I’ve heard so much about you. My, my you are more beautiful than the bright stars in the Virginia sky, my darlin’. Hope these men are treating you right, Hamilton especially. If you want to see what it’s like to be with a real man, one who can give you the attention you deserve-”
This would be Alex’s snapping point
Laf and Herc would have to hold him back from tearing apart the smug Jefferson as John would hold you close, blocking you from the sight
The rest of the night was spent snuggling together in bed under a mountain of blankets spent reassuring the boys just how much you love them
Morning showers together
The boys would try to do your makeup one night and surprisingly impress you with their skills
After noticing Lafayette’s constant distress and homesickness after a week or so Hercules, John, Alex, and yourself would get off early from work for the night and get to work make Lafayette a feast of authentic French themed foods
Laf being extremely overwhelmed at the action and going into an appreciative French spree of words- or rather so gibberish to three of you.
“Mes amours vous fondent mon coeur avec vos douces actions. Comment ai-je réussi à avoir la chance d'avoir quatre beaux anges qui m'aiment autant que je les fais? Je ne méritais pas de toi, mes amours.”
Hercules, John, and you turning to Alexander for translation
“He uh, he said he appreciates the action a lot and loves all of us more than anything.”
He’d then pull all of you in for a large group hug, which would happen often
Grocery shopping would take like five times longer for the fact that you live in a house with four other guys
John and Hercules always tagging along when you run errands
Alex writing heartwarming poems about you nonstop. He likes to sneak them into your work folders or your purse for moments when you need to hear it the most.
Hercules making all five of you matching Christmas sweaters in which you pose in for your family Christmas cards that make it out to all of your friends and family.
Girl gossip with the Schuyler sisters
I feel like Hercules would have a good list of jokes he’d say and mostly at inappropriate times
Like when it was Alex’s night to make dinner and he accidently overcooked the pork chops, Hercules would come into the kitchen taking in the dry black meat then look at Alex with a dead serious expression
“Hey babe, what do you call a pig that knows karate?” “Herc now is not the time-” “A pork chop.”
John always making silly faces at you from across the room when you’re stressed out
Laf being obsessed with taking candid photos of the boys and you, making a whole album full of them
“Laf why are you taking pictures of us? We’re just making lunch.” You mumbled half mindedly. The water on the stove was boiling heavily and John wrapped his arms around you from behind setting a handful of asparagus in the pot. He chuckled and placed a chaste kiss to the side of your cheek. Yet again another distinct shutter filled the air as Lafayette smiled to himself. “I bet it’s because we look absolutely adorable.” John whispered into your ear. You laughed as the vibration tickled your skin. Laf nodded and pointed towards the two of you, “Right you are, John.”
Making breakfast with Laf to bring to a sleeping Alex who passed out at his desk on top of piles of papers.
Having Christmas movie marathons laying in Hercules’ arms while Laf holds Alex and John cuddles up to your side
Becoming amazingly close friends with the Schuyler sister who love to hear about your relationship with the boys
But let's be real, the sex would be outstanding
Like John would be sweet, gentle, and hesitant but in all the right ways
Alex would love to go down on you and the rest of the boys gaining pleasure out of satisfying his partners. He's also pretty cocky, no pun intended, in bed but in all the right ways.
Lafayette exceeded in the department of dirty talk, whispering dirty French words in the shell of your ear and loud for the rest to hear which would turn Alex on above anything else seeing as he was the only who understood the words
Hercules was obsessed with undressing you and the boys loving to unravel you all before himself. He's to most skilled out of all of you and it definitely comes in handy while in bed.
But afterwards they would always make sure you felt okay and cleaned you up
Fights would be to an extreme limit but when they did occur everyone acted fast
Alex was usually involved in the arguments while John would stand to the side, holding you close if you were near shielding you from the disaster.
Lafayette could be explosive if involved so Hercules acted as the peacemaker
In most cases all boys wanted the mess to end the second it would start but being hot tempered, sometimes it didn’t matter if the issue was large enough
Alex would apologized no longer than five minutes after the start almost in tears feeling horrible for his actions
He would rush over to John and you pulling both of you in close as the other two would join in
You would all then spend the night over a tub of ice cream peacefully sorting out the issue at hand.
So many kisses
Exploring the city together
Out of all the boys, Alex is the most difficult to convince of things
It’s a chore alone just to get that boy to bed
And when clothes shopping, you always make sure to go with Laf or John
Alex is the smartest with the shopping and usually knows what you actually need and don’t need
Hercules insists he can make you whatever article of clothing you want
But John simply cannot resist saying no to you and Laf just wants to see you smile so he had no problem throwing whatever amount of money down to cover the cost. (In no means is this used in the gold digger content.)
It makes John and Laf so happy when they say yes to you and you erupt in a fit of happy giggles and ‘thanks yous’
Every once in awhile all of you would take a trip. It always varied depending on whose choice it was. Lafayette loved taking you all to his home in France, Alex was a fan of adventurous tropical vacations (sometimes cruises but it took a lot of convincing) and heading to Spain for a change of culture, John liked camping trips or mountain explorations, Hercules was a fan of road trips and calm vacations on the shores of beaches in Hawaii, and you managed to talk to boys into backpacking in Europe which although stressful during the process, was a successful vacation and you enjoyed weekends up north far from the social world.
Lafayette would come home from work and surprise you with various coloring books or Paris, India, New York, etc. from the local Barnes and Noble. This being said you would steal many or John’s coloring utensils to fill in the books.
The boys all had different drunk types
Alex was whiny. SOOOOO freaking whiny when drunk.
“Y/n… can you please cuddle me?” “Jack gimme kisses.” “Hercules can you make me pizza?” “Laf, babe, are you ignoring me? No baby, lay with me!” “Alex sweetheart, I’m doing laundry what do you want?”
John was the cuddly drunk who always wanted kisses and hugs. He’d latched himself onto whichever partner was closest and would die before letting go. If someone would say no to John- they’d pay the price. In an instant he’d erupt in a fury of tears and totally let go of himself. Herc, being the usual sober one, was there right away comforting the sensitive boy.
Laf was a happy drunk. There was always a award winning smile on his face when a drink was in his hand. He’d tell jokes in different accent and whisper incoherent French words in your ear. He liked to get touch with all his partners and always had a hand on at least one of you while intoxicated. Lafayette was known to laugh at least once every two minutes, sometimes at nothing at all while drunk. He found the world to be one huge joke and had the time of his life.
Hercules let loose entirely. He was more of a partier when drunk and liked to brag, a lot. It wasn’t always about entirely PG-13 things either if you know what I mean. He also enjoyed showing Laf, Alex, John, and yourself off as well. Not in a disrespectful manner, just talked about how much he loved all of you. His lips were constantly pressed against your temple as well as the other boys. He’d holler and shout at a ball game on the screen that while sober he wouldn’t even give a second glance to.
Speaking of sports, almost everyone in the house was into something different but when March came around, the house was madness… pun intended.
The boys as well as yourself would all make brackets. Money was involved, no doubt. Smack talk was also a component even though none of you cared for the sport too much until March.
Alex would watch every game leading up to the event feverishly mapping out his plan. In the end, he would take into account more of the end scores than the effort and passion of each team. His end game was between Gonzaga and North Carolina.
John would argue against Alex and root for all the underdogs. Things wouldn’t turn out well for him but he had fun! John liked cheering for all teams and tened to root for the team with the most passion and enthusiasm. He was one for effort and hustle so when all his first round picks lost, he didn’t mind.
There was no doubt about it, Lafayette cheered for the team ahead. He was a typical bandwagon and switch sides faster than any traitor in history. Laf claimed he didn’t do so but it was clear. Sometimes he would cheer for the team with the name he recognized but he did enjoy watching basketball and seeing the games. Not knowing whether to pick North or South Carolina, Lafayette cheated the system deciding to write ‘Carolina’ as the end winner, claiming he did it on accident but everyone knew what he was up to.
Hercules cheered for the team with the best colors. He wasn’t as into basketball as most and prefered to watch his loves get excited themselves. Although he did pick Gonzaga, due to Alex spending an entire week talking him into it. Hercules didn’t mind though, he had no idea what was going on anyways. At the start he had put in the Lakers and Bulls, not realizing the huge difference between college and professional.
You on the other hand had watched the teams throughout their whole season which also meant you understood every game was different so you took an approach similar to John. In the end, Alex was the closest to perfection and made sure to let you all know it. But he choose to spend the money won on a night out on the town filed with kisses, champagne, expensive food, and loving memories.
You and Alex would be overly involved in reality TV
Like don’t even get him started on all those Real Housewives shows. Alex lives for the, most likely scripted, drama. You both try to get the other boys in on it although the only one who bites the bait is Hercules. Her claims he ‘hates’ the shows but you had caught him one Sunday night after everyone had long passed taken on sleep. You had felt his side of the bed shift and soon enough he was creeping out of the room. You followed him in curiosity and the sight you found was no one to disappoint.
Hercules has an episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians playing at the lowest volume and he was fully consumed.
You tiptoed silently down the wooden staircase holding a hand over your mouth to keep your breathing shallow. The light from the TV screen flashed in the dim lit room. You peeked out around the corner of the wall taking in the sight before you. Hopping out from behind the wall you shot your hand out at your boyfriend and hollered in delight,   “Ha! I knew it, you do love it!” Hercules jumped a mile high, his bowl of popcorn spilling out as he did so. His eyes flickered from the screen, to you, to the screen, then back to you again. Shooting his hands up surrender, Herc quickly snatched the remote from the cushion turning the show off instantly. “Sweetheart, it’s not what it looks like. I just- I wanted to see… fine you caught me. Don’t you dare tell Alex.” “Nope, too late.” A new voice appeared from the bottom of the stairs where a smug looking Alex stood. His hands were folded across his chest with his weight staggered to one hip. The cocky demeanor was shinning as bright as a new lightbulb. The introduction of another voice, or two, followed shortly after. “Damn Hercules, they got you too.” John commented sleepily. His messy locks curled around his face perfectly as his eyes batted heavily. You and Alex chuckled joining Hercules on the couch. Both of you were waiting for Monday to watch it together but what better time than the present. Alex snuggled into Hercule’s side humming at the man's hand falling around his frame. You reached forward locking your hand with Alexander’s and rested your head on his shoulder. Laf smiled at the view and walked around the opposite end taking a seat on the floor. He turned around and faced Hercules with a side smirk, “C’mon babe I thought you were strong!” “Sorry you two! It’s just so terrible it’s addicting. Sit and watch it, just one and you’ll see what I mean.”
But above everything you all loved each other more than anything and did everything in your power to protect each other and make one another feel loved and cared for.
Hope you liked it!

English Education Program Grant Opportunities / Grant Opportunities for Leading English - An unsuccessful 2018 grant application through Department of State.
Education Programs in Kyushu/Yamaguchi Region. Interest -  introduce American culture, and/or to encourage future travel to the United States
In regards to the grant opportunity, “The U.S. Consulate Fukuoka is accepting applications for small grants to individuals or organizations to lead an English education program with American cultural content at the Fukuoka American Center, American Shelf partner institutions and/or a public space”, McCalla, Christine Ann, competing as an individual, believes the grant opportunity is not only feasible at $500 - $1,000, but is viable as well.
As detailed in the grant announcement, Grant Opportunities for Leading English Education Programs in Kyushu/Yamaguchi Region Introduce American culture, and/or to encourage future travel to the United States, the U.S. Consulate Fukuoka will award a grant of $500-$1,000 as funding for this production, introduce American culture, and/or to encourage future travel to and study in the United States. The purpose and emphasis are, introduction to the American culture, and to encourage future travel in the United States.
To introduce the American culture to another culture, distinctly separate in language, ettiquette, and behaviors, two non-neighboring states within the United States of America (USA) are being presented, Louisiana (LA) and the District of Columbia (DC), given the magnitude of events that are available, free, and open to the general public. The Louisiana Press Room describes over 200 free activities open to the public, and Destination DC describes thirteen (13 ) museums open to the public for free. It is recommended that all travelers consult the regions they expect to travel prior to entry to ensure feasibility and accessibility of scheduled programs.
In addition to these two (2) states offering free events, it is the culture of the USA to avail its general communities in all its 52 states to comparable free events, with others driven by seasons including the Thanksgiving Day parade, scheduled around Thanksgiving Day, celebrated annually the fourth Thursday in November. The free events offered are often located within metropolitan areas offering other activities prior to, during, or subsequent to the events, such as cafe`s, movie theatres, bars, restaurants, etc.
Of the 200 free activities presented and described by the Louisiana Press Room, ten (10) are presented below. In Baton Rouge, LA, some activities include:

Spend a “Sunday in the Park,” a series of concerts held in Lafayette Park at the Shaw Center for the Arts in downtown Baton Rouge. The concerts are held from noon until 3 p.m. on Sunday afternoons in the spring and fall.
Travel to the top of the tallest state capitol in the United States. Tours at the Louisiana State Capitol take you to the Observation Deck on the 27th floor for a bird’s-eye view of downtown Baton Rouge and commerce on the Mississippi River.
Visit multiple museums focusing on art, science, history, and culture. The Old Arsenal Museum explores Baton Rouge’s colonial and military history. On the first Sunday of each month, the LSU Museum of Art, the Louisiana Art and Science Museum and Capitol Park Museum waive admission fees for their exhibits and interactive areas once monthly.
Enjoy Baton Rouge’s style of rhythm and blues music at the Baton Rouge Blues Festival. It’s held every spring downtown at Repentance Park.

See one of the most comprehensive Louisiana history archives at the Louisiana State Library downtown. The Louisiana Room collection includes rare books, documents, and photography on a variety of Louisiana subjects.
Experience Louisiana cooking demonstrations among the produce vendors booths at the Red Stick Farmer’s Market on Fifth and Main streets
Other activities are available at a cost to the vacationer including cruises, historic, and nature tours, with scheduling required. See reference section for the hyperlink in regards to accessing these additional events.

Proposed activities - Within the District of Columbia (DC)
Of the thirteen (13) activities presented and described by Destination DC, ten (10) are presented below.
Visit the Smithsonian museums - collectively called the Smithsonian Institution, this world-renowned museum and research complex in the District consists of 17 museums, galleries and a zoo. Each one is free to enter, and across the spectrum, you can learn about the origins of man, the wonders of art, the history and future of flight and so much more.
Marvel at the Museum of the Bible - although donations are suggested for entry into this colossal museum, there is no admission charge. As soon as you enter the Museum of the Bible through its 40-foot bronze doors, its majesty is undeniable. Beyond its awe-inspiring grand lobby, you will find 430,000 square feet of exhibits that cover the history of the Bible, its many narrative forms and its impact on societies around the world.
Check out can’t-miss free museums on the National Mall - to go along with the incredible monuments and memorials, the National Mall features free museums, both of the Smithsonian variety and not. You can enjoy all of them without paying a cent, including the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, the U.S. Botanic Garden and the National Gallery of Art.
Savor Free Community Day at the National Museum of Women in the Arts - on the first Sunday of the month, one of the District’s most intriguing museums waives its admission charge. During Free Community Day, the National Museum of Women in the Arts opens up its collection and features programs that connect to its current exhibitions, helping you to discover the immense impact that women have on the world of art.
See planes, rockets and spaceships at the Udvar-Hazy Center - part of the Smithsonian’s Air and Space Museum, the jumbo Udvar-Hazy Center collection houses all sorts of flying machines and gears, filling two enormous hangars with crafts like the space shuttle Voyager and a Concorde jet, as well as oddities like a flying car. Add an IMAX theater, an observation deck, and flight simulators, and it’s no surprise that, along with its sister museum on the National Mall, this place draws eight million visitors annually.
Step into the living memorial that is the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum - dedicated to one of the worst tragedies in world history, the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum educates its visitors on the dangers of hatred and the atrocities of genocide, as well as how society can confront challenges to freedom and human dignity. Its in-depth exhibits form some of the most essential viewing that DC’s museums have to offer.

8 Great Homes on the Market You Can Buy Right Now With Bitcoin
realtor.com; iStock
Although bitcoin isn’t quite as hot as it was in late 2017, it’s still accepted by savvy sellers who crave crypto.
Prior to the cryptocurrency crash of 2018, a Texas home purchased with bitcoin made headlines. The seller accepted the digital currency and then simply converted it into dollars, which can be done using a service called BitPay.
The transaction reportedly took place within 10 minutes. No 30-day close here!
With digital currency exchange rates on the decline, we wanted to see if sellers were still out there ready to do business on the blockchain.
We found eight places for sale across the country, all waiting for a crypto-minded buyer. Prices range from out of reach to downright affordable. We also did the dollar-to-bitcoin exchange rate to inform bitcoin-inclined buyers exactly how many of their coins would be required.
Have a look at how far your bitcoins will stretch on the housing market…
