OKAY JRWI RIPTIDE THEORY TIME
i wanted to talk about the prophecy a little more, try to analyse it a bit and some of my dumb theories! spoilers for episode 110 ahead!
"An entity threatens world stability
Caged in the deepest layers of infinity" The egg from the one shot that Drey took most probably released this entity and caused the hole in the sea.
"The seal remains locked by a key of divinity." If the Ferin bloodline possesses divine or special blood, it would explain how Drey, by holding it, could open this egg. Perhaps this egg was sealed away millennia ago by the two main goddesses, with the warriors who served them. The conflict may have started between two factions: those in favour of this entity and those opposed to it, maybe? The tree mentioned four bloodlines in the world, and it's possible that one of them had a disagreement with the other three, which eventually escalated into this war. This particular bloodline might have used this entity as a weapon in the great war, but perhaps things spiralled out of control?
this is what the tree said- "a war won by these combined efforts sealed an entity away and together created not only its prison but a key and a warning. this warning is the original prophecy meant to be passed down until the inevitable- time." and visions of tritons riding leviathans, red haired olympian looking elves flying with own wings, gargatuan dragons, casters controlling the elements like they were born to do so.
"Its release in time, an inevitability."
The chains that imprisoned the entity might have a time limit I guess OR like most ancient prophecies, this one recognizes the inevitable hunger for power among most living beings. It foresees that people will attempt to find this entity to gain control over it and hopefully use it to become more powerful in Mana. Maybe the navy's secret project or Nikalus's personal plans are related to this entity?

the chosen is born underneath an eclipse,
in the midst of a storm "
The prophecy didn't come into action with Gillion's first birth but, in a way, with his second birth in the episode "Moonlight, Storm, and Sea" when he emerged from the Luxbris Pearl. I'm not entirely sure if it was an eclipse during that moment though; I just remember it being pure darkness, without a moon.
"foreboded calamity, the chosen is warned
the shape of all life shall take a new form"
If people have desires with with selfish motives, there will be repercussions. It's the same deal with Nikalus; he grants people's wishes, but they need to be pure-hearted. If someone asks for something with greed and self-serving intentions, it messes them up, with the tar corrupting and eventually killing them.
"the shape of all life shall take a new form"
so this corrupted tar affects all creatures, all life forms- turning them into tar monsters, with their greatest fears and needs plaguing them as they become undead- a new form.
"A choice to be made, with no time to mourn."
This part gets pretty confusing because the story hasn't really touched on the idea of making choices (except for that culty nonsense the elders fed Gillion). Maybe there's a choice between fulfilling personal desires or attaining true freedom from the desires that lock us into labels and hinder personal growth. Like Chip's burning desire to find Arlin, which keeps him stuck in his painful past and memories, preventing him from moving forward and growing. Or Jay's dilemma, torn between her Navy Ferin family and the loss of her sister, versus taking control of her life and focusing on herself. And Gillion, caught between the undersea rules and manipulation that's easier to accept, versus facing the pain and fear of confronting the lies and manipulation the guardians have fed him, discovering a much larger and complex world beyond the undersea. Their freedom from these desires would leave no room for mourning because they'd be too busy enjoying their liberation from such constraints.
A couple more things- Niklaus's powers bear a striking resemblance to the entity that corrupts the Black Sea. Maybe his freedom is tied to freeing this entity, giving him full access to his abilities? Another character with powers similar to this entity is Kuba Kenta, involving black tar oozing from wounds inflicted by him and and nightmares of people's worst fears. Kenta's powers have been described as otherworldly (the probability of different planes, existence of creatures worse than demons and fiends that come from the darkest depths "crawled from the darkest depths of creation itself"). All of these powers—Black Sea corruption, Niklaus's, and Kenta's—basically lead to a slow killing for their victims, exploiting their fears and greed while breaking their sense of self before ultimately killing them.
My theory is that one of the bloodlines involved in the great war against the others dabbled in forbidden dark magic, and invited this entity into Mana. Things likely spiraled out of control, and the other bloodlines had to quell it through the great war and cage it within the egg, and then shunning out this particular bloodline for its actions. Now, it seems this bloodline is trying to regain its place in society by tampering with this entity once more, and I THINK it has something to do with the Hendrix bloodline and Nikalus's desire of freedom.
And I also think the Navy is aware of this entity and its history (maybe Ferin family secrets) and is trying to create a machine to help control this entity and ally with fiendish creatures like Kenta under their ranks. They plan to USE the entity to stay in power socially and militarily in Mana.

ALSO!! IN THE FIRST IMAGE OF THE LEVIATHAN THERE IS A VERY VERY VERY TINY HUMANOID FIGURE SWIMMING NEAR ITS FACE- in my personal opinion that could be falyn because she is a shark tamer and I think if she met a leviathan with KIND EYES she would absolutely swim up to greet it

Gods, just imagine being Chip. You just died at the age 19, have no idea what to do about it and anytime you go to sleep you have to hold on for dear life to your own sense of self to keep feeling like you still belong inside of your body.
Imagine being Jay, the one who gave the order to keep fighting, one who feels the most guilty, the most responsible for everything they've lost that battle. And now she has to face eventuality that one of her friends may be lost permanently because of this one decision of hers. Oh, and also her leg fucking hurts like HELL.
Imagine being Gillion. The literal weight of the entire world was just dropped on you. Such a big portion of your life has been based on lies, you begin to wonder if there's anything left of the real you at all. If there ever was you in the first place. Soon you'll be forced to determine the fate of the entire world, when you can't even figure out yourself anymore. And on top of that, the dread of possibly losing one of two people that give you the reason to keep going is slowly eating at you.
And then some purple tiefling comes in with a fancy suit and nothing better to do and starts singing out an entire ass motherfucking musical rock ballad about how much your life sucks right now.

I would just re quote the entirety of the last ten minutes since the actual prophecy drop if I could but god just. “what if it’s nothing?” “well, was it fun?” “yeah” “then that’s all that matters” and “even if it’s already written I’m glad to share a story with you” bro. “We all have burdens that we did not ask to bear” or something along those lines.
just. a chosen one who’s told to find who he is, not just what the world tells him to be. no longer comforted by the idea of destiny, because the burden is so much and he wants to be more than destiny. but he’s so worried he’s nothing without it. he never measured up, and now the destiny he’s learned his entire life is false, and he just wants to seize his own life and make his own choices and carve his own path, but who is he if he doesn’t serve this purpose? if his destiny has been proven to be based off false prophecies, if he isn’t his titles, if he isn’t predestined and already written, then who is he? what do they see?
and the fact that his friends and crew all reassure him with the little things. the blue of his eyes, his courage, his kindness. someone who smokes weed to disastrous results, who throws gold into the ocean even though they’re meant to be pirates. someone who faces danger at their side and doesn’t back down, but laughs. someone who tries to be good.
not a hero of prophecy. not the chosen one. but their captain. their friend. their family. and even if all of that was all predestined and written and free will is an illusion, then fuck it. they’re written chasing freedom and fun, they’re written doing some good in the world, and above all else they’re written together - and that means that it isn’t nothing.

I mentioned this in the live chat when Ep 110 of Jrwi Riptide was happening but I also want to mention it here

Gillion with a prosthetic tail.
In the feywild Arc, when they were seeing themselves in the 'future' mirror, Jay had a robotic leg, and in episode 110, her leg gets badly injured (obviously hinting to future amputation) so what if when it's happening gillion asks for a prosthetic tail.
My idea for this is because some triton do have tails, but it's also because I love the idea of gillion having a prosthetic tail / seeing gillion with a tail in fanart. It also makes me have the idea of him getting a prosthetic so jay doesn't feel left out or him feeling left out since Chip dose connanicly have a robotic pinky.

110 SPOILERS
Here’s my theory for Gillion’s position as the ‘chosen one’.
Gillion is THE chosen one. At least for the original prophecy. But the undersea have slowly lost sight of the original prophecy, twisting it into what it is now. To the point where they don’t care as much about WHO is in the prophecy as much as they just want it to happen. The whole ‘second chosen one’ idea was formed because Gillion proved he was ‘unworthy’ even if that other one isn’t actually a part of the prophecy. I think maybe the Undersea leaders want an excuse to go to war or something and they’re using the prophecy to do that. Maybe Edyn is aware of this and is trying to prevent a war from happening? I don’t know, just an idea.

I think it's so incredible, how Gillion, the chosen one, born to decide the fate of the world, possibly have a hand in its destruction even, or prevent it, is going towards this goal with Jay Ferin, a descendant of the people with red hair and wings, who helped seal the entity away in the first place. And how in a form of Jay Ferin, just like centuries ago, the member of the same family will attempt to continue what her predecessors started. And of course, there's also Chip. A child taken into the Black Rose family, raised by them, and the one responsible for upholding their legacy. And one who recently learned that his own captain was the one to open the hole in the first place. Chip in a way takes the responsibility to fix a mistake of a generation that came before him. It's poetic how the chosen one will take the final journey next to the person, whose family helped seal the entity, and one whose family helped to partially unleash. And how none of them ever deserved it or asked for these burdens. Chip never asked to be an orphan and end up a pirate, Jay never asked to be a Ferin and Gillion never asked to be born the way he did. It's almost cruel how their fate was decided the very moment they came into this world, and it makes so much sense to me now, why Gillion looked them both in the eyes and asked: "What if there's nothing?" But then Jay asks: "Have you enjoyed it?" And Gillion does not have it in him to lie. Because "Even if it's all inevitable, he's glad they got written in the same story"
