Ky is entirely unbothered by this little arrangement you've made, letting you do as you please around him and indulging you in some of your little gestures of affection, all in exchange for keeping him fed straight from the source. You can sense Ky is not fully invested in this relationship-- may not even see it in the same light that you do. How dare he act so casually toward you. You wanted him to be less formal, but Ky is always brushing you off as 'livestock' that he claims to somewhat fancy, though not for anything but the taste of your blood.

In truth, he finds you quite strange. He has warned you before that you better not dare be too bold and involve yourself too personally in his affairs publicly. He's quick to remind you how easy it would be to kill you, all done with a hand to your throat and the blade forming around his hand as he offers to fulfil that promise immediately. He's noticed how overeager you are, and he almost doesn't like it. Ky doesn't trust you on your own; he's put off by how strangely you act. He's tried to tell you a million times he does not and cannot love you, but each time, you go crawling back to him, begging him to continue your deal.

Ky has figured out he can use your own adoration and idolisation of him against you because you will keep falling for the things he says for now. He knows he can offer even shallow acts only vaguely reminiscent of lovers, and you'd do it in a heartbeat. You're somehow so stubborn yet so easy to control, and he takes advantage of that to the full extent, watching you run around like a headless chicken trying to please him. It's entertaining to know you still somehow think this is moving you up some kind of ladder closer to him accepting your love without a deal.

── ୨୧：urd geales

Urd has developed a growing tolerance for you ever since you first appeared and kept appearing in the places he was going you could access. You seemed too nervous to talk every time he approached, so he had to wait until you began your advances, and once they started, they didn't stop. He hated to admit that a part of him was strangely enamoured by the idea that maybe if he let your infatuation fester enough, you'd be the one person who would never leave, but he also knows you're extremely abusive at times.

You can't hurt him, nor could you dream of it, but it was saying too much that hurt him. You smothered him, babied him for a time and swore you'd hurt anyone who just so much as brushed against him too harshly for your tastes. It is uncontrollable, and Urd never knows if you'll go through with it. Urd tries to calm you down, but you've managed to convince yourself he's too nice, and this is how you'll 'protect' him from the world. You suffocate Urd so much that he doesn't know if you still think of him as an adult or as a child.

Urd requires your utmost attention, and there are many times he's considered ending your life so that you can't be a bother to the peace he's created, but he keeps getting drawn back. Urd knows if he leaves you to your devices and allows you to fuss over him, you'll be at ease, even if you seem to want to control him. If Urd lets you fuss, you stay put, and if you stay put, you won't leave to go anywhere. For a while, you'll remain with him, and he can subject himself to the headache for the reward.

── ୨୧：rígr stafford

This relationship you have with him always seems to go unnoticed. He ignores you all the time, he's never around, and he never pays even a hint of attention to you. You're glad to find yourself locked up because, for the first time in a while, he looks back at you with all of his attention. It's just like how you imagined it to be intense and with a strange interest that perhaps doesn't belong.

You're so glad he's finally started paying attention to you. This is much better than when you borrow his things and imagine him, the way he'd scold you for it, the disappointment you would think was visible on his face.

"I took more than just that." You confess just as he opens his mouth to speak and don't even allow him a chance to ask what you are doing. You keep idolising this man; you likely always will, adoring him and holding him on the pedestal he deserves. He can only shake his laugh at you and say something about how this is inevitable. He does this on purpose. He runs a cult. Everybody starts somewhere.

You have to hold back losing it on him because he doesn't seem to understand you are long past the isolation period of thinking him a God. You used to believe that, but not anymore. You used to feel dirty every time you took up his time, like the greatest sin you've committed, and you still revel in it. You are the mortal who dragged him from his place, and you will never truly allow him to leave you behind if he should leave this world. You must keep leaving him gifts and perhaps borrowing his personal items right under his nose. Couples share everything, don't they?

── ୨୧：shikama dōji

You're such a mild inconvenience to his plans that he almost doesn't even notice after a while, letting you indulge yourself as you ignore every single boundary he sets out for you. The only reason he sits you down and scolds you is that you got too close to something he's not eager to share. You follow his word like law. Once he figures out there is nothing you wouldn't do for him, there is seldom a thing he won't do to you. You are his everything, and not in a good way; his plaything is a better description.

He finds your infatuation with him to be of enough interest as it is, but you also pose a very good catalyst for all of his other questions about humans as well. At his fingertips is someone who would do anything that he asks in order to please him. You had better be good and do whatever he wants, and you might be rewarded for it, and though he's quite selfish to do this only for him, he is very good at pleasing you for your troubles. He won't make any exception for you, not when he's prizing you above the rest, which he reminds you is not to be treated lightly. It isn't fair for only you to get happiness, is it?

If keeping you on a chain makes you behave, even if you begin to grow bored of your obsession with him (which he doubts you will), he's become far too interested in what made you this way. He wants to know how far he can push, how long it will take you to fall out of this 'love', how much he can taunt you and use you for his own sick amusement. Not for the same reasons as you, but your reasons certainly make it easier.

Hello!

It is been a while and I am a little disappointed in myself for not responding to this request sooner. Considering the multitude of ideas I have for this character, it is a real shame. I must have been too busy with my languages classes and crying for Rígri's lonely and sad son, ah.

But I am here and thank you from the bottom of my heart for the request.

Seriously, send me requests, especially for vampires. Questions, ideas, curiosities, let's discuss the story, or something else. I love OnS and everything is welcome for this wonderful story.

I thought about what to write about Rígr here, considering that you were so kind and left me the freedom to choose.

So in this post, I will continue this series of hcs about our vampires in a normal universe.

I wrote something for Ferid and René and I think Rígr also deserves his dose of normality and happiness.

That being said, enjoy! Any kind feedback is welcome and I wish whoever finds this post a good day!

I pencil Rígr in a normal world where he can be himself and a human.

With long blonde locks hanging past his shoulders and a much more relaxed style of clothing.

Do not misunderstand, please. He still has a refined elegance, like the days when he goes to medical school for his studies and wears that long black coat, black cloth pants and elegant leather shoes in the same non-color. His white shirt is immaculate, pulled tight with a tie. But the blond hair is the splash of color, flowing in light waves over his shoulders with every gentle step Rígr takes, swinging his black briefcase in his right hand.

The same blond hair flutters freely, morning after morning when he wakes up around 4-5 a.m., before sunrise. And in just a white t-shirt, simple fabric pants, this hard-working man wakes up to start his morning jogging program, with his beloved dog.

Yes, Rígr has a dog, a lively and 'talkative' one who runs with his master for hours.

The same dog is taught to accompany Rígr in his studies, or to leave his adorable saliva on the expensive clothes of his 'uncle', that being Urd, obviously!

At every look from his indignant brother, Rígr responds with a serene smile, stroking the animal on the head, "Oh, but he loves you, brother. That's an affectionate kiss, your nephew's kiss."

He is obviously supposed to pay for the clothes destroyed by his dog, but medical students never have money, and Urd knows it. That is precisely why he always offers his insufferable brother a 'little help', in the continuation of his studies.

Sometimes it is necessary.

Although Rígr is a businessman to the bone and outside of his countless projects in the university, his private study sessions where he works like a madman, he has at least 3-4 jobs, some of which are suspicious but profitable.

Someone trying to convince you to buy something completely useless and dubious on the street? You will recognize Rígr.

Anyone want to explain you online why bitcoins are a lasting investment?

You will recognize Rígr.

Is someone on a street corner with a little table that lures middle school kids to play shell games?

Shameful for brother Urd, but you will recognize Rígr.

Obviously, he also works honorably as a university assistant for a professor who particularly esteems this brilliant student, but the wages are low and a medical student is always poor.

However, at the end of the day, nothing can stand in the way of the passions of this idealistic soul with a great intellect.

Despite his diverse and busy life, Rígr always finds time to visit a church or look at the sky.

It is something that calms him deeply, where he can meditate on creation, on the world and on man himself. It is not for nothing that he is attracted to the field that can explain human as a biological entity. Beyond these tangible laws, there are some invisible but decisive for our entire life: the art of discerning the soul.

Maybe that is why his chosen profession is that of a psychiatrist, despite Urd's warnings. Perhaps from his need to penetrate deeper into the secrets of humanity.

This man is a deep one, who looks at the world in detail, and who, at the end of his busy days, just needs a cup of hot tea with his faithful dog by his side.

Only in his white shirt, black pants, barefoot and sitting in an armchair: Rígr Stafford looking at the ceiling and meditating on those deep ideals of his.

And the next day, again he wakes up before sunrise and begins his fascinating day as a hardworking and dedicated young man.

Oh, and every day is a blessing for him!

His dog, named Ferid, approves with a bark.

Kisses.

Characters (male): Second Founders, Fifth Founder, Seventh Founders, Ordinary Vampires; the Hiiragi family, the moon demon squad.

Vampires:

Urd - His kisses are slow and relaxing, but they must be earned because they are his personal way of rewarding you for a good job. He will never kiss you in public, because he considers this process intimate and it should remain only between you.

Rigr - was able to maintain his childish carelessness, so his kisses are often spontaneous. It can be as simple as touching his lips when he is in a hurry, or sensual kisses when you are apart for quite a long time.

Ky Luk - seductive kisses and often he can roughly push you against the wall, just to kiss. He loves to bite and lick your blood when his fangs brush his lips. Usually Ky Luk kisses make you want more.

Ferid - quick kisses to tease you. He kisses quite often and is not afraid to do it in the presence of other vampires, who, however, do not care. Nevertheless, his kisses are embarrassing with their surprise, as well as their total number per day.

Crowley - deep kisses that turn into sex. Crowley kisses quite rarely, only if you really managed to surprise him and, like Urd, his kisses are a reward that still needs to be earned.

Lacus is not an ardent fan of public kissing, but is against doing it to embarrass you or someone else. Like Ky Luk, he bites more than kisses, but his bites are not as painful as those of the Fifth Founder. Lacus also kisses for quite a long time, so if you do not give him some kind of sign, then he may well suffocate with a kiss.

Rene - that he kisses you, you don't even know. Usually he waits until you fall asleep (if a human) or get tired so much that you stop paying attention to the world. Nevertheless, he never kisses on the lips, his favorite places are your wrists, as well as the forehead and occasionally neck.

People:

Kureto - his kisses seem tough and formal. In public, he will never show that he is in a relationship with you, but in the evening he is more than ready to make amends if your resentment is justified ... well, or you can defeat / seduce him.

Shinya - passionate kisses. The poor man lacks the love that he is trying to get in this way and basically his kisses are not only passionate, but also overwhelming that it is impossible to think about anything. Shinya is brazen enough to kiss you in front of everyone and leave you.

Seishiro - presses against the wall and lifts your head by the chin, gives surprisingly gentle kisses. He has enough struggle within his family, so it is with you that he wants to be gentle; however, this does not mean that he will wipe his impudent grin from his face when he steps away from your lips and looks straight into your eyes.

Guren - Even though he looks like a pervert, Ichinose is gentle. He gives tender kisses when he comes to you, when you are spending time together or when he needs to go somewhere. Having experienced so many losses, he wanted you to live and know about the sincerity of his feelings for you.

I believe that rigr/saito would be just like his s/o like for real.

Saito is definitely strong, physically and mentally (man i just think he's smart)

He's also bold like he will say what he wants and take the risks of saying something or doing something, man isn't scared at all.

He's also a tease, I believe he is like he can tease the hell out of his s/o.

Now, saito doesn't know how he ended up with a s/o who is quite like him

S/o was a progenitor just like him, saito probably met them way before he left the council and abandoned his other fellow progenitors.

He would be living together with his s/o who wasn't affiliated with the progenitor council anymore.

Expect regular banters from saito and his s/o. Saito has a habit of teasing the hell out of his s/o which will definitely bring out s/o's personality.

"Quit nagging already s/o. I've heard enough." saito would say as he walks away from s/o, feeling fed up with their nagging.

"aw~ are you really tired of me nagging that you decided to chicken out of this conversation and ignore me?" his s/o would say with a devilish smirk on their face "my my, rigr, i never knew you were such a sore loser."

Saito would be pissed but not to the point that he would snap his lover's neck or anything, he just knew that no matter what his s/o said, he couldn't find the right words to say in order to win the argument.

Teasing saito is really fun, he has some patience left in him so he's pretty chill.

"rigr~ have your chains gotten you stuck that you can't seem to move? aw, how adorable!" pure sarcasm in his s/o's voice.

Saito is a very chill man, he has great patience with dealing with a s/o who can tease the hell out of him, he's probably wondered once or twice why he hasn't ripped his s/o's heart and watch them turn into a demon, maybe it's because he loves them dearly? or maybe he lives for the fun his s/o can give.

As for s/o being strong, saito is proud to have a s/o who can physically protect themselves and take care of themselves. he can and will baby his s/o if needed but seeing how strong and amazing his s/o is on the battlefield, he truly believes he's found his match especially with the way his s/o thinks.

Aside from being physically strong because of their vampire strength, s/o is mentally strong in the sense that they can strategize and think things through. we all know saito is quite smart (everyone's smart in ons pls) but having a s/o who can think quite like him? damn saito is blessed and amazed.

It's rare to find someone like s/o in a world that's falling a part but for saito, he feels like he had one a lifetime prize. how can he not when he knows that he gets to spend his eternity with s/o, living happily together, fighting together and just staying alive together.

I feel like urd is a laid-back kind of person like he has the patience that can last forever.

I mean yeah, some people can get on his nerves but it isn't enough to anger him unless you're a progenitor who disobeyed him.

He is very patient and understanding of his s/o, he doesn't even have it in him to tease his s/o back if they ever tease him.

"ya know, the more you stay locked in here, doing paper work you're just gonna get wrinkles and get old." his s/o would say as they stand in front of urd's desk. "but then again, you wouldn't care anymore since you're ancient." they would say, giggling as they look at urd.

Urd would just ignore the second sentence and reply softly "I'll be done in a few minutes, wait for me in living room dear."

He wouldn't even have the energy to tease you back because he's "ancient" and he doesn't even know that you're teasing him or anything, baby is so clueless lol.

Urd has always known ever since he met s/o that they were a strong person.

Urd and his s/o goes on missions together and he honestly feels relieved that he doesn't have to take care of his s/o like worrying if they get hurt or something dangerous.

He cares, he does. He just doesn't show it often because that's his personality. His s/o would always be okay on their own because they don't want urd to worry about them. I mean come on, Lord Geales has the progenitor council to look after but ofcourse his s/o is still his top priority.

He just finds it nice to have a s/o who can take care of themselves, someone who can stand up on their own.

"Did you get hurt today? Any injuries?" Urd would softly ask as he looks his s/o up and down.

"nope, i'm fine." they would reply before smiling "am so strong that i didn't get hurt."

Urd would smile and ruffle his s/o's hair and kiss their forehead "Good to know that you're strong, s/o."

"but you'd probably break your back, gramps." they would say before giggling.

"Let's get something to drink? Any special requests?" Urd would say, moving his s/o to walk.

"none, gramps. " they would say "surprise me if you want"

Urd loves his life just the way it is and if he had the chance to continue living like that with his s/o, he would, even if it meant living like that forever. Urd was happy, genuinely happy.

Ky has a laid-back personality just like Urd but his is more noticeable.

I believe that if ky has a s/o who is bold and teasing, he wouldn’t really mind like he himself can tease back so it’s all good.

He enjoys having random banters with his s/o, like a lot. It amuses him with how his s/o is able to come up with quick replies that catch him off guard.

He’s always amazed with how bold his s/o is.

Like his s/o would talk back to higher progenitors and ky would be :o but s/o only talks back if they think they’re right or they know that the certain higher up is wrong.

In terms of strength, his s/o is strong. He knows physically and mentally that his s/o is strong so he doesn't worry much.

Ky... gets a bit flustered when his s/o teases him especially if it's the type of teasing that's romantic or quite sexual.

'that's quite bold of them to say' he would think before a hint of pink dusts his cheeks

But overall, ky can handle himself. He's like his s/o, he can be bold when he wants to and tease them if he feels like it.

S/o and Ky would work out so well, both of them having somewhat the same energy.

One of the reasons why ky fell for his s/o was definitely because of their personality.

OnS Chapter 105 - Thoughts and analysis

Hello everyone it’s been such a long time since I’ve written an analysis and less to say, that it’s been centuries since I shared personal thoughts about a chapter itself hehe x//x

Anyways, I hope you dear readers have been alright, make sure to stay hydrated all the time!

Before I start with the analysis, some thoughts about the chapter:

If you wonder what I think about the latest chapter, I think it was such a nice change of pace; while it’s interesting to know how things develop around the MC of the story; the story needs to explain the lore and how it ended up affecting the MC; which is why, I consider the latest chapter has been really interesting, it touched elements of the past in relation to Rigr and Urd specially since those two are shrouded in mystery.

Nevertheless, this chapter really displayed the emotions Rigr and Urd held after the First Progenitor took his leave, they were in a quite interesting place, one which is well known for being the place where Vlad the Impaler existed, but nevertheless, the dynamic those two had, how the future and the past were crashing against each other, the crash of ideals...well, that’s something I’ll talk later in a theory...

Now, starting with the analysis:

Part I - Rigr and Urd

First of all, the chapter at first sight seems like a 180° shift it took; one of the most funny things to see to certain degree is the fact that Rigr Stafford was pretty much comfortable despite the situation he was...(I must say that the very fact his leggies are back again in order only lead me to think he’s secretly inspired by Deadpool...ok no, I’m terrible with jokes :p btw this thought was thanks to @black-sapphire57 since they were nice to share an artwork from an artist that got inspired by Deadpool 2)“...

Despite being binded to a seat along a spell, which, to my surprise, spells were something more common for humans instead of vampires:

This of course will be touched in a theory later on, but nevertheless, just like Rigr stated, it was a surprise that vampires could make something like that, what do I mean?

Just like the chapter itself displayed, there’s something to take into a big step of lore and development when it comes to one of the characters of the story, such character being Urd Geales of course, what do I mean?

The chapter itself touched a sensitive topic and that is the emotions the vampires had despite seeing their sire leave them behind, it is even revealed that after Shikama left them, the remaining Progenitors took their paths, thus leaving Urd and Rigr alone, and before I start with the depthness of Urd and Rigr, I’d like to quote a character from Boogiepop Phantom:

“The waking dream called the world is constantly changing” -Kirima Seiichi

Urd is a character that feels comfortable when things are static, he’s the type of character that seeks peace, even if peace focuses on staying in a single point, on something that gives him a sense of security which is very visible on this scene:

Urd was willing to take the responsibility of the vampire society he and Rigr at one time seeked; he didn’t want Rigr to leave because having him by his side gave him reasurance of walking a path that was built by two, the very fact that Rigr decided to leave the Vampire Council was something that shattered those selfless dreams he once had after losing his humanity.

But then, why did I bring up the quote?

The issue is, that despite vampires being inmortals, time never forgives, they might be creatures that will never age, creatures that will remain the same in terms of apperance but there’s something most of them forget to certain extend and that is heavily displayed within this chapter along old chapters such as chapter 68; they’ve remained the same, but the world keeps changing. The world moves on,time keeps flowing despite their inmortality.

And that’s something Rigr acknowledged after being with Urd for a determinated amount of time after the First left them.

He was aware that the dream they once had would never become a reality, and thus, instead of remaining within one place, he wanted answers, he wanted to understand why they were left alone, why they were discarted and thus, he decided to take the first step of leaving.

Part II - The Third Progenitors

Another intriguing aspect of the chapter was the revealing of the ranks Byakkomaru, Raimeiki, Noya, Asuramaru, Kiseki-O and Gekkouin had once when they were vampires.

A theory I made about them as to why they were chosen as apostles which could be considered as a possibility might be due to the fact that they were turned by Yu’s blood back in those times when the First was creating vampires; which of course it’s just a possibility unless the manga confirms it.

Nevertheless, it is surprising to say that the very fact they were displayed as Apostles has something to do with theological stuff, but nevertheless that, just like Rigr stated, there’s a reason why Krul and Lest weren’t chosen, such thing will be further explained in a theory as well.

But within this revelation, there’s something to be noticed, what could it be?

Correct. The awakening of existance and self acknowledgment. What does this exactly mean?

If many might recall, the remaining Progenitors that were never chosen, they decided to abide by the Vampire Rules; they didn’t seek nor tried to search for their Sire Sika Madu after he left them; of course, such exception could be applied to Krul after she found the first clues after a millenia.

But the curiosity, the awakening of consciousness and existance is something that was actually very visible within Lest Karr:

Rigr is a rebel alone, it could be said to certain extend he’s playing the role of the anti hero, he doesn’t mind using whichever methods are required if it means to take down the First Progenitor, to show him that with pride, arrogance comes, and eventually, everything crumbles.

But returning with Lest and Rigr’s interactions; Rigr tried to make Lest feel interested, but why? why was there such even a consideration of such thought?

Indeed, that’s because vampires stopped pursuiting a dream, a goal, a reason to live; they lacked the concept of the soul in a way on which they were simply walking corpses without a mind, only binding themselves to a forgotten dream.

Part III - Success of the awakening of consciousness

Within this small point, there’s something that Rigr managed to fulfill, and that’s actually something that could be stated as a nice strategy point which was to actually bait Ky Luc into the conversation with Lest Karr; despite the undenying loyalty Ky Luc has towards Urd Geales as being the Progenitor that took vampires within a world of order, it cannot be denied that Ky Luc has displayed interest and curiosity towards the actions of the First Progenitor along the reasons why they were told to not touch the forbidden, to not reach and break the taboos stated by the vampires, which is heavily seen within the latest chapter:

Ky Luc’s demaor can be often related to Ferid in terms of spontaniety and madness to certain degree, but knowing that Ky’s past is shrouded in mystery is one of the key points on which the comparison between Ferid and him differ a lot in terms of what made them being selected to become vampires.

But nevertheless, something Rigr seemed to try was to make those two interested in the boundaries that they do not dare to step on, to know why exactly he’s fighting and why they should question themselves as to why they keep following up the old vampire rules of the Vampire Council despite them giving the first step of taking action after so many years.

To conclude this analysis, it can be said that the chapter not only focused on giving a bit of taste of the past but also, a part of development within the progenitors; despite them having dead dreams from a distant past, perhaps Rigr is aiming to make something just like the Age of Enlightenment did to humanity itself once.

You two were walking around Shibuya and a café catches your eyes.You turn to you friend,Ky Luc,who was at that moment a crush you just dreamt of having as a boyfriend.

You didn't want to make any sudden movements because you thought that maybe he will be scared of those "love" things because vampires generally aren't searching for love.

Making a first move was difficult but it was a thing that you really wanted to do because you couldn't keep yourself from saying it anymore.

"I think that's a very nice coffee shop.Would you like to go with me?" you say as you look at Ky Luc.

"Sure thing,I don't particulary drink coffee but I don't mind being there" Ky Luc says.

"Alright then" you say.

You were still very nervous of what would he say about what you were about to do.

"Shit.It's closed...." you say.

"Did you really want to drink some coffee?There are many coffee shops down the other street."

"No...actually....Ky Luc....I wanted to say something to you." you say very shy.

"hmm? what is it?" Ky Luc says.

"I....I love you.." and then you wait for his response.

"Are you for real? Are you just playing a dumb prank on me or something? I'm a vampire,I can't be loved by someone like you.....I do the worst things you can imagine" Ky Luc says surprised.

"Yes....I really mean it...." you say.

Ky Luc,still surprised,takes your hands in his hands and offers you a very passionate kiss.

Urd Geales

You were visiting your king's castle,or should I say king Urd Geales's castle?The castle he was living in was a huge construction build ages ago and everyone knew that only him and his most loyal servants were welcomed there.

You were one of the lucky friends of his grace and you were very welcomed being in his home.

It's almost like it wasn't real.You,a mere girl,being welcomed in your king's castle and going out of your way to say to him your feelings.

As you kept on living with him and seeing him everyday,you kinda caught some feelings for this guy.And the moment where you told him your feelings has come.

You walked on the beautiful stairs of his castle,preparing yourself for the big talk.

After making all the bad case scenarios in your head,you enter his room by knocking the door.

"It's me....y/n...Can I enter,my king?" you say.

"But of course" Urd says.

"Thank you,your grace,I...I have come here to tell you something important" you say.

"What is it? Is it the humans that bother you? Maybe other vampires that have you in trouble? With what can I help you,y/n?" Urd asks.

"I.....I think the problem I have is very different than what you have asked...." you say.

"Then what is it?Tell me and see if I can help you,my dear." Urd says in a friendly tone.

"I...I love you..." you say as you tremble a bit,waiting for his response.

"I....are you serious?" Urd asks.

"Yes....my king..." you say.

He leaves his chair,coming at you.Then,grabbing your face,he says:

"I...I have the same feeling for you...I love you" he says as he hugs you.

Urd guides you to his bedroom while kissing you on the way.

You were in the hallway of the Hyakuya Sect.

There was their leader,or your leader? or perhaps.....your lover? I don't know yet.

He was a man of a few words,you were just a human to him that he spared your life a long time ago.

Or maybe you were wrong for thinking like that? Maybe he liked you,maybe he didn't take your life away just because you were like a little star lost to him?

You wouldn't know either way,again,he was a man of few words,so he didn't talk to you or anyone very much.

You decided that it was the moment.You two were alone and you finally decided that this was it.You gotta tell him.Now.

"Mr.Saito...I...I need to tell you something."

"What is it? Is it the Demon Army? The JIDA? You can tell me anything,after all,you're my best subordibate."he says.

"I...I love you."you confessed.

At that moment,Saito froze.Not in a bad way though......it was just.....he didn't think of love all of these years.....and then you came and confessed your love.It was...weird for him.

"I.....I'm sorry I took a while to respond...but...I think we share the same feeling......though I don't know if an old millenia monster like me can truly feel love" he says .

"We....we can try." you say.

What it's like to be their favourite Human (but not like that).

NOTES: this is a month old draft I found mostly finished and because I feel bad leaving you with nothing here it is 😔 the original title for this was, and I quote, "Rígr using his cult to participate in cult activities that involving culting like he runs a cult." which may or may not be a Kubz Scouts reference 💀

anyway here's the deal, this started as just Rígr but my brain was like "brr" and then I was like "oh ok" and added some more characters (no Ferid we know what he's like already it'd be redundant) AND I KNOW NOBODY ASKED BUT I DID this is for my entertainment not yours /j I refuse to justify this. I cannot justify this. I am a monsterfucker and fangs make everything ten times hotter eat my shoe.

the perks of being in the brotherhood have always outweighed the downsides, though there are many of those to be found just about everywhere. Your current position is one of surprising power, allowing you to ask him about and for anything you want, complain in small talk about something bothering you and suddenly it's gone. Apparently it's a consequence of him finding it…unpleasant…to drink from someone if they're too tense, something about a bitter aftertaste of stress, whatever the hell that means. Still, it means your life involves two things and most of it is downtime, waiting for him to call for you when he grows increasingly thirsty.

at times he allows you to subtly tease him, and he encourages you at times which is ever so slightly strange…but you can never keep it up for long, it's hard to taunt someone for regarding you as a blood slave when he's the one who's a slave to your blood. You have no idea what he sees in you, but he sees something, and it gets you privilege. It's a nice privilege, so you keep your mouth shut when necessary and make some sly comment he suspects is the truth while thinly veiling it as just a jest. He may have heavily modified his body but he's hardly above petty desires of a Vampire.

it's your job to make sure the hungry Vampire is well fed and happy.

he can demean you in unimaginably cruel ways, but he is also kinder to you than most Vampires. It's not a thing of care, nor is it particularly an issue when he decides not to do so and perhaps unknowingly says something rather callous. His value of Humans is superficial, caring more about the fact that they won't revolt if they're given freedom, and so he doesn't mind much when you choose to keep offering your blood to him. A catch in the rules allows this, contrary to Sanguinem's laws against drinking blood directly from a Human within captivity, Russia's law allows it under the guise of it being a consensual thing, even if you receive something in exchange for it.

you always have and likely always will receive something in exchange for it—his way to entice you back.

humans are very greedy, is always the justification and while it's true you're here to be rewarded for the low low price of potential anaemia, that doesn't mean you enjoy hearing about what he thinks of your kind as a whole. He knows recognition from their King isn't enough, in fact he's very aware of that. He started small, in quantity that is, and he was always conscious of the fact you weren't used to any of this. It's his responsibility to ease you into it lest you pull away from your deal, and that means side effects can't be allowed to hit you too harshly until you're more familiar with what that entails. most nights you can sleep it off easily, never straying far from where he left you though you can never seem to find him when you wake up, though it's not as if you couldn't just ask.

you know better than to ask, once your transaction is over you'd best not overstay your welcome, he doesn't like it when you linger.

perhaps the easiest to please though not by any means gentle, because for as easy as he is to please it's not nearly as easy to deal with the aftereffects of pleasing him. You can never get your head straight because he just doesn't know when to stop. It's like leaving a small child unsupervised with a large bag of marshmallows and naïvely trusting them to only eat a few—next thing you know half the bag is gone. He gets bored easily however and when it's not obligatory he certainly is not one to extend extra effort to a mere Human he knows solely for the sake of their blood. Bleh, thinking like that makes you sound full of yourself, it makes you want to laugh even.

he is impulsive and manages to find you at the worst time, conveniently finding it in his heart and never his head to ask permission only after he's already done it…and people say chivalry is dead. He does not tolerate back chat of any kind meaning even if you did so happen to make a fuss he probably doesn't care, and when you're so dime a dozen he also doesn't particularly care if you call it quits. Truthfully he does care, just a little bit. It would be a shame to let you go to waste and have to start all over again building up a superficial relationship with a new little livestock.

he promises not to bite so hard this time, but he promised that every other time as well, and he still hasn't got a handle on his excitement.

he's not overly flowery and gentle, nor is he purposefully rough with you. Since you are willing livestock he grants you benefits unwilling livestock do not get, and you are lavished with praises for your cooperation like a good little lamb. Admittedly he's never strayed from making it hurt, especially if he feels you draw it out too much, which is when you lose your speaking privileges and have to be quiet for the remainder of your exchange. You are rewarded, sometimes, with things he acquires from who knows where, "Anything you want" he says and somehow he gets.

most of the time it's food, for when you feel so tired and lightheaded at times no doubt from these very deals you can't make anything and so you want things you can eat without fuss for a while. He gets you things on the surface sometimes, even if they've been reduced to props and are purely for the nostalgic value of knowing what it's like to hold something lost to the apocalypse in your hands. It's a slightly rarer case he does that however as he doesn't go there for leisure, and usually he lets you decide what you want and brings back something else if he can't get it.

he is quite good to you, as long as you're good for him.

─ ୨୧： chess belle

to put it mildly: hell. It's not as if she's completely overexcited and has a bad tendency to lose her sense of self restraint, no, never, what would make anyone think that? …yeah that's exactly what it's like. She treats you something like a ragdoll and likes to play with you in a way, like you're some little mouse she's captured. It could be worse, at least you keep telling yourself that, you've heard from some of the children who have similar arrangements with Ferid about the fact he gives them anything they want from his manor if he likes their blood. You'd think that was great if you didn't also know he's a raging sadist. Chess is…definitely better, at least she doesn't hurt you on purpose.

she doesn't need you all that much, at least able to sustain herself on the amount she gets from you and what the Vampires are given by the state. She's just a bit too much of a glutton to be able to live off the latter alone, though that isn't her fault. You pick up much just by listening and you've noticed little things about her. She's fed and happy after assignments outside of Sanguinem and doesn't need you for a while, but it can also become painful to her if that trip is less than fruitful. She gives you things mostly to keep you quiet about the whole ordeal most especially from Horn, who is to believe she has excellent self-control. You doubt she actually believes that. The extra food is nice though, so you don't have the heart to tell her.

─ ୨୧： horn skuld

unlike Chess she openly admits the fact she has a Human in her back pocket for when she's especially thirsty, it's a thing of indulgence and a ridiculous sense of self-restriction isn't exactly what she considers worth the effort. While she isn't hesitant to admit it, your activities are a thing of secret, what happens in that room stay in that room, even if it may involve indulging her wants for a little Human pup who readily offers it's blood. Yeah…it's strange. It's not as if she wants you to bark of anything, but her presence and manner of speaking alone certainly has you feeling like a dog.

she does acknowledge you must be compensated, but how is a topic of discussion. You share your want and she assesses the value and tales from you accordingly. You mustn't get away with getting more than what you gave, after all. Though you've seen her scold Chess several times you have to admit she has her own side of mischief, though far less free-spirited. I usually comes to you in the form of little jests and giggles at you and the way you act. You're just so adorable, but seemingly not in a completely endearing way, more like seeing something endearingly foolish right in front of her.

again you feel like she sees you the way Humans see dogs, you're surprised she hasn't collared you yet.

he was sure that you were dead, you had been dead for a long time, having slipped away from him in your last mortal life.

and yet you were there, by the General's side as he barked his orders at you to fight, the spitting image of his love, turned against him, but why? Was it just the world you now lived in? Back then, you were able to live peacefully, you didn't have to watch your back every step or worry a monster might chase you back to the safety of the city walls.

it was just chance, and you were caught between the dismal life of livestock down in Sanguinem, and the life of a soldier in the Demon Army. That didn't mean it stung any less.

in a way, Urd was glad to see you strong, an unwavering determination, and apparently more courage than you knew what to do with. You held your sword firm, your hands trembling from the force you applied and the push back you got, even knowing you weren't a match for a Second Progenitor you didn't run. You stood firm to carry out your order, even knowing he could pummel you if he was actually trying. Urd held back, you could tell that much.

he couldn't stand there forever, and neither could you, but it was clear you weren't going to let up, and he couldn't afford to either. Even knowing the person who stood there was surely someone he once knew, in your eyes you had never known him, you'd slice him in two without hesitation if only he let you.

it pained him, and yet he had to. Gently, Urd reminded himself, and in a swift motion of his sword knocked you aside, not too harshly, but enough to leave you nearly sliding along the ground trying to regain your footing even as you stumbled over yourself onto the ground, it was gutting in it's own way, to both of you although for different reasons.

the smell of blood filled the air, he must've grazed you, or perhaps the impact had done it. If only you were who you used to be, he would've been at your side worrying over you, and yet he couldn't.

"General Kureto!" he tried to ignore you, even when he heard your sword scrape against the ground--you'd picked it back up.

if he could only knock you out, he could take you with him, right? You wouldn't have to know why, a vague excuse to back it up would be enough, and yet one problem remained, he didn't have enough arms to carry you, the General, and the Major General. Even if he could, he didn't have a reason to give everyone else why he felt it necessary.

you were a fool, trying to defend your General, who was not quite unconscious and yet not fully conscious either, teetering on the edge in a haze. Kureto couldn't defend himself like that. nor give you orders, you were on your own. Where was Aoi when you needed her?

even on your own, your loyalty lied with the Demon Army, and he couldn’t help but miss your warmth seeing you turned against him.

lest karr

looking so young didn't mean he was foolish, Lest knew that it was always a possibility he would encounter someone just like the Human he used to be attached to. Perhaps you didn't like that he looked like a child, didn't want to hurt him, and to him it was pathetic, he wanted to crush you under his boot like an insect for it.

he couldn't bring himself to, not when you were just so much like them, though…in the Demon Army, you were a squad leader, had people under you, several people actually one of whom was very insistent that you should not be underestimating him.

"It's a child." you hissed at him, almost like a scolding parent, disappointed in him at least from the way it sounded.

"A child who is a Vampire!" he tried to remind you, but you apparently weren't having it. Even Lest could tell that much, approaching him rather unbothered by it, either you had courage, or were stupid. Either way he wasn't going to budge and scare you off.

you were getting very close, and he was very greedy to have you coddle him just a little. Not too much, and he would never admit it outright, but in a way he missed having his head patted, seeing you smile at him. It was nice while it lasted, when he was so young it wasn't out of place to him, his head matched his body and things were as they should be.

he was too young back then to fully understand that you wouldn't be there forever if you were just someone he met at the market sometimes. You used to dote on him back then too.

"Don't." He said, though rather suddenly, "Stay there."

he couldn't let you, not now, he felt like a child ready to stomp his feet on the floor and throw a tantrum. He very much wanted to have you pat him on the head, talk to him a bit just to entertain his talking when no one really wanted to listen much.

if he let you do that all over again, he'd remember what it was like, and he'd miss it again. He'd wish you could always be there, maybe in Germany where he could see you whenever he want and let go of himself for just a while. Maybe. Not yet. For now he needed to keep up his act, remain prideful and just maybe he'd see you again some time where there weren't several people to witness it.

"I'll let you live, just this once. I don't have time to deal with you now, but don't get in my way again."

krul tepes

one of Krul's only comforts after her brother's departure was unfortunately not longed for this world, it wasn't as if you were particularly fragile, not terribly Human. Met your end in the wrong place at the wrong time and suddenly her dearest friend was gone, reduced to a pile of ash by the daylight.

she hadn't seen you in so long, how could she have? You were gone, it had been somewhere around a millennium, and yet now, in 2020, she saw you once again.

you weren't exactly the same, but she knew, somehow, she knew that the one who watched as the Seraph was released and the world ended all over again for the Demon Army, was you. A little bigger than you used to be, but something else about you set her off.

she wouldn't let you be killed again, definitely not like this.

there wasn't a moment's hesitation between her noticing you standing idly by in a complete stand of shock as the people you had known for the majority of what was now your life were sacrificed and her grabbing your arm to pull you away. "Come with me. Now." It didn't even seem like you could move until she forced you. Almost dragging you along until you got your legs to move.

you had barely even processed it was a Vampire who tugged you along let alone the Queen in Japan. Not for a moment until you realised and regained your senses to barely avoid getting stabbed only by the harsh yank at your arm that had you stumbling over yourself onto the ground with a thud.

"Get up, we need to leave, now!" she tried to urge you along, pull you up herself, remind you of the urgency. What was she supposed to do when everything was happening so fast. Does she protect you? Tell you to run? Where can she go that you'll be ok?

she didn't have time to think when she caught up to Mika, she could settle there, in safety. Even if she couldn't keep you safe, she could entrust the task to Mika. She knew you could protect yourself, and yet she couldn't be satisfied with just that--you could supposedly protect yourself before too.

even as Ferid attacked, betrayed her in a way though it was clear he was never truly on her side to begin with, and her consciousness began to wane, she urged you both to go, to protect yourselves, to be safe. You were still confused even when the shock was wearing off, it was just that you couldn't understand why a Vampire would save you, one of the many Colonel's currently still alive. Surely she'd want you dead, wouldn't she? Wouldn't it benefit her to see you killed by that monster?

she didn't need to say it twice, her unexpected though not unwelcome act enough to convince you she needed you alive for something meaning you weren't going to die as a result, at least not for a while, it would give you time to think.

"Mikaela. Go with the Colonel, and find your family! Keep them safe."

he remembered the birdsong you used to listen to together, back when he first came to Japan, romancing one of his loyal little followers. You used to be special, and he treasured you too much to bring a curse of immortality on you. Did you hate him for that?

you had once begged Rígr not to leave you to grow old while he stayed the same, ever unchanging, and yet he wouldn't budge as he stood firm. Every time you even started to bring it up he'd stop you again, and yet no matter how much you changed he loved you all the same. When your mind went as you began to forget him, then your body as it began slowing to one final stop, no matter what he was there.

he couldn't tell if he regretted that, or if his wondering was just the product of the person who stood before him.

by all accounts it was you, there were no way it couldn't be, right? And yet you barely reacted to him much at all. There was no kiss, asking where he'd been and what kept him so long, where he'd get to feel your head rest against his shoulder when you laid together just one last time before you went. Humans are truly fragile creatures, aren't they?

ah, that's right, you weren't with the Hyakuya Sect anymore-- you never had been, not like this. Despite the similarities you held a stark difference, the first being that you were no longer head over heels in love with him and the second that you had changed in a way, moulded yourself to your new title--and quite an impressive one at that--you were more than just in the army, you could pull rank.

he'd never be able to win you over like that, but seeing you again was nice, nostalgic, like finding an old photograph tucked away in storage of a fond memory long passed.

he didn't speak to you at all, just acknowledged you when he passed you, and you watched him with a great sense of suspicion. Rígr could tell you didn't trust what he was doing, and yet you allowed it in favour of watching him carefully.

watching, waiting, but there was nothing.

it wasn't until your curiosity got the better of you that you reluctantly agreed to help Ferid with whatever he was doing, and suddenly you were wandering another war zone. It was different to the one you encountered before, save for the overrun of death and fighting. The Hyakuya Sect and the Demon Army, you wouldn't stop them, you likely couldn't either. What's to say they would listen?

the other thing that didn't change was the man you were looking for. Who was he? Who knows, but it would be nice if Ferid stopped calling him Papa, that was enough to know you weren't exactly what one might call keen to find him sprawled in an alley in what could only be described as dismantled, ripped at the seams and taken apart.

on the contrary he was quite glad to see you again, standing over him, even if you looked at him like trash on the floor. It was as if you wanted to stab him clean through with the weapon kept sheathed at your side, and he'd let you if only to see you satisfied.

but when all was said and done you were far from standing over him, clawing at the chains around your leg with more desperation than you knew you had in you. Getting taken hostage would be bad, becoming livestock, being out in a place like Sanguinem. You'd seen what it looked like there, even without your help it was a hellhole.

"Let go!" he wouldn't, he wouldn't let go, wouldn't let up at all even when Crowley and Ferid were long gone without you. He clearly didn't have much strength, and yet he used it all to secure one thing as you were unceremoniously dragged back from the place you'd managed to squirm to in one swift movement.

you were strong, you had to be, and yet even for you some opponents were too much. There had never been Vampires so strong in Japan, at least not ones that showed themselves to fight.

"You got away the first time, but you won't end up quite so lucky again."

NOTES: if I recall correctly I got a request like this a while ago but had no idea what to do with it, I have since made Neru (an unrelated character of mine who so happens to work really well in this context) so Rígr got spoiled because I had the opportunity to write about her (still x gn!reader but the storyline is hers), admittedly the other two are kinda meh but I'm not that comfortable with angst yet so I just need time

you thought it would work, you really did. A pleasant doctor of a time when doctoring didn't mean what it does now, something based purely on your curiosity and the way you reacted to things you were never meant to witness that made him like you.

initially a rocky start, he'd be more than glad to never have you shove your fingers in his mouth again. The sentiment was endearing though, someone he viewed as fragile by design that took a morbid interest in him as something that worked in the world of the living only a few steps away from death. You once thought it would be something that would 'change the medical field as we know it' but you came to understand all too soon his great reluctance to do so.

it was the second time he'd drank your blood, the first time he'd lost control to do it, something he doesn't enjoy about being around you while you work is the lingering stench of blood in the air that follows you. His intention has never been to hurt you, the little doctor who won't seem to leave him alone, and he won't deny good company. Of course you're the first to react, clicking your tongue and tutting over the fact he bite somewhere you can't treat by yourself easily. All the while his head is in your lap sputtering his apologies as how he doesn't know the why or how he lost composure, and even a hand on his head and a quiet reassurance doesn't help.

you say he worries too much, he says he doesn't worry enough. Something about you lessens his self-restraint, and he hurts you again and again in fits of blind hunger, like his own body resists the notion of having a Human around at all, but you won't leave and be can't force you, so each time you and your bag of tools and supplies arrive at his side he tries to accept it and maintain his composure.

he can't figure out why you smell so strongly of blood, devising it must be your previous wounds or your patient's. You're happy again for a time, and the urges and impulses to hurt you stop, giving you time to return to the happiness and leisure you once enjoyed. He feels comfortable in himself again, and he relaxes just enough to let you close, sleep in a spare bed just a room away and wake up in the morning all within an alarming distance of him in the name of helping the people of this town in their time of need.

you take your patients elsewhere, and head off at dawn every morning, watching as the townspeople slowly improve and the sickness that had hit it began to stave off as you in all of your wisdom and perhaps dumb luck were charming the people back to health with your goofy little jokes and remarks.

you stay with him, the little doctor who ran into him in rather dire circumstances, saw a Vampire right before your eyes and decided you absolutely must investigate it and the body. He was so caught off guard by just the thought that you were standing there in awe staring into his eyes like they were a set of precious ruby jewels that he didn't even think to react, and like a little stray he had fed a scrap of food you followed him home and made it abundantly clear you were not to be trifled with. Like a child you'd stick your fingers in his mouth without warning, and ignore his scoldings not to do that in the name of research as you had already decided you needed to know everything there was to know about this ‘rare condition’ of his.

"I'm heading off tomorrow, this town no longer needs me." your words hit him like a shockwave, even if they make sense. You're a travelling doctor, so you go places you feel need help and find refuge at an inn somewhere, it just so happened you were enjoying a free stay with him. "Urd?"

he blinks, then looks up, "Already? It's only been—"

"For me that's longer than I've stayed anywhere, a few weeks is a lot closer to my welcome and any more than that has me overstaying. It was pure luck that I came across a dire situation." you try to explain it to him in a way someone not a doctor could still grasp, that people start to treat your services like commodities and come to you for the slightest of colds that don't require your assistance. You're too free spirited and curious to be held down for too long.

but the thirst returns, and it claws at his throat more than ever before, now working the opposite way than he recalls as you were doing exactly what he seemed to be wanting.

you're so helpless fast asleep, and you're right there, like presenting him with a glass of aged wine and expecting him not to drink it when it's the exact bottle he wants so badly, and something about you will never leave him.

"I know you're there." your voice startles him, but he calms himself quickly, "Did you miss me already?"

"…Thirsty." he answers, hesitating and questioning himself before ultimately walking closer. "It came back."

"Then do it. You can sit that close, can't you? Stop making a fuss out of every little thing."

the more he drinks the more he knows he should stop, with you the little doctor squirming under him in what you called discomfort but never pain. The less you squirm the less you feel pain, the less you squirm the less conscious you are and he knows that much, but every impulse that tells him to stop before he kills you tells him to drink until your blood sweetens with the verge of death drawing closer and your body slowly shutting down. Your squirming turns to a limp compliance perhaps not of your own volition but of a sense that even if you were to fight you'd hurt yourself, or maybe you've just reached the stage Humans start to wish they die.

and so you do, right there in his arms, and your lifeless body refuses to respond to any of his attempts to preserve your life once the regret comes to slap him across the face.

"Will you read a story for me, Papa?" your little hand passes the book you want up to him, and he pats his lap for you.

the times of the first are gone, though he leaves behind the children he created, and the children he rebirthed. Not all of them were victims, and not all of them completely let go, though he was warned that he shouldn't do what he had thought was such a wonderful idea at the time.

everyone hates their ‘parent’ at some point. He should've listened to that warning at the time, even when he just wasn't ready to let go yet, and while his love for you is frozen in time with him, yours wavers with the effects of being well past the age of maturity and still stuck in the body of a seventeen-year-old. Urd says it's temporary and agrees to try to help you calm down from this fit of rage you've gone into and won't come out of, you think it's forever and act like you'll never love him again at times. You have every right to be holding the things you were against him, he deserves every word you speak to him.

he misses when you were small and precious, your greatest care was the loud banging outside or the tree that scratched at your bedroom window and gave you a fright until you worked up the nerve to go wake your Papa up for help from the monster under the bed. These days you haven't a glance to spare at him, and he knows why—you feel abandoned by him, you miss your Mother, you don't understand why it had to be turned and not one of your siblings, why he had to curse you this way.

he doesn't know what you get up to in the daytime, given that you can wander as far as you please and simply don't care to listen to him. He's heard from one of the younger Vampires you went ‘back home’, not to your real home but to the place where Shikama Dōji once brought you all, and you're getting awfully close to his motives and into his business. He knows even if he worried until his head fell off he could never hope to defy that kind of influence.

you wilfully ignore his every plea to come home and let him fix things, be a better Father, work things out and try to give you the freedom you keep wanting without the need to worry about where you are all the time, and again all he hears is that you went home.

what strikes him more than anything is a letter, not from you but from the very same person who said you were there, and he's told the real reason you never answer is because you never see the letters at Shikama's own request, claiming something about how you were irritated by it and it was causing your hatred to swell and burn. It was for the best that he did not speak to you, and if you felt he was respecting your choices that you might come around quicker.

very soon, you would be leaving to go elsewhere with him, though the letter didn't say where, just that you didn't share the details and didn't intend to.

your hatred for him is one thing, but to possibly never see you or even know where you are in the world is too much to handle, and he finally makes the trip to go see you for himself to beg you to stay.

you're already gone by the time he gets there, even Urd tells him so.

"Papa? There's a scary noise in my room like a monster under my bed." he will always recall your sweet little voice, the ones that made him so reluctant to let you go at all, "Can you look for me?"

he didn't want you to stay forever, he only wanted for you to keep coming to him when you were scared, to never be afraid that you were alone in the world, and somehow he managed to leave you there under the impression you were alone, and he was refusing to listen to what you wanted until you room it into your own hands and did it anyway.

though he never could leave you, his dear child, you can leave your Father easily.

a feeling of betrayal, and it's worse than it had been before, now faced with the betrayer who smiles at you so joyously as he always did before, but a new face stares back at you.

"Have you been well, darling?"

you have been anything but well and you have to swallow the urge not to slap him for saying something so heartless when he knows the answer already. You'd give anything right about now to wipe that smile off his face and stitch his mouth shut so you never have to hear another word out of it, another lie or another word of painful truth. You'd give the world if he never spoke again, even after waiting so many years to hear his voice just one more time.

"Very." is all you can muster, and you both know that's a lie.

"We have plenty of time to catch up now, don't be shy, I want to know where you went." again it would be nice to slap him right about now, but the cage between him and you courtesy of Urd is keeping him safe and you at a distance to avoid feeling the effects it causes.

"You're very glad to be caged up right now." you know he would be, naturally, surrounded by people who watch him and fear his reputation without having met the man a day in their lives, currently watching you bicker at each other like an old married couple, "However will I get to you when entering it could be debilitating to me?"

"Would you?"

"In your dreams."

the scoff that follows says enough, knowing you wouldn't set foot in there even if you were paid to. He seems to ignore it, along with the rest of your attitude and sass as he has been the entire time, perhaps just glad to get you talking even when you would think the last thing he'd want was to talk it out.

"I'm staying here out of respect for Urd’s work, I could get out."

"Stop deluding yourself. You're lucky to still be moving your mouth." you only want to know when he will be back, because as of now you're not having much fun being the babysitter.

when he does come back however, you will be long gone from this cage to relax and let your guard down somewhat, seeing as you have been forced to remain on high alert since arriving by one circumstance or another. You've dealt with enough of that to last a good generation more.

if Urd could hurry up, that would be nice, and maybe then you'd know peace as he'd have something else from the past to bother. His regard for you is that of feigned interest, like he doesn't mean nor care about the things he says, perhaps because they're not the things he wants to hear at all. The things he wants are far too personal to be spoken in a place of so many strangers.

"Don't talk to him." Lest is at your side, even knowing you won't want to take him seriously, "He's dangerous."

"I know," you say, "it's just a bit of light banter, he's playing too coy to ask a real question anyway."

he bites his tongue at what he wants to say as you wave him off with a dismissive hand, though you can hear he doesn't move, at least in some way sensing it’s not entirely out of irritation with him specifically. Your current mood is very dependent on a certain someone playing ball, which he is clearly starkly against doing as he has his fun scaring those who made stories out of him in the first place.

you think he must've been talking to Lest behind your back as Ky fills the growing silence, and in a sense you wonder if he's trying to ease your response. "You know I heard all of the legends about him, but I never even met him because I was turned in a different region, though I was curious."

"Oh? You never told me this."

"All the legends I heard, they're all very old. You knew him before, is he really all that powerful?" you bide his curiosity knowing he's as curious as anyone else around you, at least in your mind, the only difference is he thinks he's impervious to harm from him, "He lost to Ferid of all Vampires. I mean seriously?"

even you could tell that was pathetic, or calculated, by Rígr, that is, you know him too well to actually think that he would lose without reason. Ky is young, he doesn't know him the way he used to be. "He is, but right now his actions seem more akin to a little child, throwing a temper tantrum and running away from home until his dear little brother dragged him back to explain himself. That is what your grand plan is, isn't it? To abandon the notion of progress to fixate on the past."

his smile can get your blood boiling, like he’s amusing with himself, a giggling little child. "Is Urd angry with me?"

"Does the grass still grow on a Wednesday?"

"You're starting to sound like our Father, you know?"

"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that, for your sake."

"Maybe you should see where Lord Urd is!" as soon as you’re interrupted you can’t help sighing, though you know he’s right. You’re doing yourself no good standing here, and he’s only revelling in how angry he can make you, provoking you more. You heard from Urd himself he was enjoying doing it, but not knowing Ky makes it seem a lot more reasonable to assign him the job of babysitting him—he’d only get mad on Urd’s behalf, but wouldn’t act against his orders.

you find that even your word against Urd’s is useless, even when you argue with him he stands firm in his decision, falling to Rígr’s word and letting him free from the cage he had trapped him in. If only he wasn’t presenting some good ideas right about now you’d be digging a hole to bury him in, and you wouldn’t be letting him within the length of a ten foot pole of you let alone the arm’s reach he stands at.

"I don’t think I will ever forgive you." you manage to admit that much, "I cannot just move past the fact you left me for so long, not like Urd did."

he stops, and he clearly hesitates, "I know you won’t." he says, "I know you hold grudges too well for that."

"It’s an endearing trait."

"I know it is." he half chuckles to himself, though his arm drops back to his side and he makes a face something between disappointment and a solemn knowing look. A part of him knew even when he left that something about your relationship would never be the same, a distance between you he didn’t expect to take so long, but there was a choice he made between your safety and his own selfish desire to take you with him and run off somewhere you could plan your revenge.

it was a lot closer to being his revenge; you never did show an interest in the past. He truly was fixated, though part of that was on the things he would never do with you, and part of it became out of love, even knowing he was sabotaging everything.

how was he supposed to be sure you were safe with the First roaming free? He could never rest thinking there might be a day you would both be caught up in his schemes again.

so he deemed it a necessary evil, and he left you where he thought you would be safe forever.
