hello. i've been thinking about system update a bit recently. how's it going? do you have any tidbits you'd like to share? also, i'm really enjoying your capman reki fic, thank you for writing it. i'm also pretty curious about your thoughts about rinne's partner in the reaper's game, from what i've seen from your posts.

(sorry if this is out of the blue, i was reminded that i should send asks more often)

Hello hi! Dw about seeming random, I'm certainly not complaining, I love talking about myself/my work. Thank you for liking capman reki! I'm really proud of it! And someone actually sent an ask about Rinne's partner a few days ago which is in my drafts now, I have to go post that

Anyway system update is, regretfully, on pause while I 1) recover from capman reki au 2) try to read more enstars stories to understand the characters enough to write them (just because it's Aira centric doesn't mean I wanna totally mischaracterize someone's fave) and 3) devour some romance/fantasy in an effort to remember how to actually write romance/fantasy. Not to say I'm not thinking about it and don't have ideas, I just haven't written anything especially concrete for it.

[scratches head] I guess I can talk a little bit about Rinne tho since I meant to talk about what he's doing anyway. There is a tidbit of a thing I did the other day:

It’s not like Rinne likes everything he’s done and will do. Messing with the heads of those high and mighty mages is fun, but the rest is necessary evil. He definitely never wanted to kill kids, especially not kids his brother likes, but he doesn’t have time to deal with regrets—or, he does, but there’s only so much he can waste. He has a goal and he’s already decided to see it through to the end, no matter what it takes. He's come too far. He’ll bear with the consequences after. “Ai-chan needs to go.” Hiiro will never smile at him like that again.

Rinne, Rinne, Rinne. Surprising absolutely no one, his goal as the villain is to destroy society completely and absolutely. Because what else would he do honestly. Translating idols -> mages, you can expect his backstory to be basically the same, except now with twice the magic and murder! (Isn't it so weird that enstars is an idol game but I have to say that this AU comes with more magic and murder than usual?) And of course Crazy:B is also with him. All of them have ~secret identities~ because I need them to move around without drawing suspicion as The Guys Who Tried To Murder Trickstar Last Week (or whatever it is they do in their first villain appearance idk).

I'm not sure what else I can say about him. Uhhh oh his super special exclusive magic is called Roulette because I'm unoriginal like that, he gets a new special magic every time he uses it but naturally he has no control over what it is. Sometimes it's awesome. Mostly it's stupid shit. He and Niki have argued extensively over whether the food ingredient identification magic is cool or not.

Playing Legends Arceus again today from the beginning and i want to make a Renga Au from this!!

Just Langa one day falling from the sky into an unknown world, not knowing what anything is, where he is at, and has amnesia and can't remember where he came from like Ingo. He is found by Oka, the professor there and he helps Oka capture the 3 pokemon who escaped and with that agrees to help with the pokedex for Langa would do anything just to be sure he is protected and has a place to stay.

In the village, everyone frowns upon the strange clothes outsider and he meets Reki. Who is curious about him and questions his choice of clothes but he is more welcoming than anyone there, but is weary and concern with Langa joining the Galaxy force, but later is amazed by his skills and the two become close friends (soon lovers)

Cherry and Joe would be the diamond and pearl clan leader who butt heads and get into fights. Suits them so well for their beliefs on Arceus and just them being them and cant go 5 seconds without throwing names at the other.

Adam the leader (tho he would also make a good Volo) but i want Tadashi there too and tadashi would fit well with being Cyllene. Works under Adam, almost as a secretary and both have a cold neutral expression.

Shadow and Miya would be wardens. Not sure for who so you all can decide that!

Might draw them for it would be super fun au to do!

This was just a little thing I did for @scorphargrove’s fic on Ao3, Bite Back. I highly recommend it, I could not put it down lmao, AND the first chapter of the sequel came out recently :D

This drawing is supposed to be in chapter 5 I think? When billy and the reader walk back into the Halloween party and try to have a good time, I wanted to get that like. Initial when they get on the dance floor time frame I guess, when it feels like it’s just those two together lol. There’s supposed to be silhouettes of the crowd of people around and behind them but I don’t know if I executed it right 😅 also I completely forgot reader had Billy’s jacket on till like halfway through the third sketch, so it’s a little stiffer than I’d have liked. I do really like how I did his hair tho!! References are ur best friend forever frfr!

plot: the sk8 family trying to throw shadow a birthday party but hiromi forgot his own birthday

HAPPY (late) BIRTHDAY HIROMI!!

Throwing a surprise party couldn’t be that hard, right?

Wrong.

Even with the brain power of a child, two seventeen year olds, an Italian chef, and a calligrapher (who is really just hogging all the brain cells), they were still only able to make the building look a little less than mediocre.

“C’mon, it's the old man’s 25th birthday! We gotta keep going!” Reki said. He was about to fall from putting up streamers in the tallest possible corner of Joe’s restaurant, before Langa steadied the stool he was on.

“Reki, this place is the best it’s probably gonna get.” Joe came out of the kitchen with a badly iced cake, “come tell me what to write on here,”

“Just write ‘you’ve aged.’ that’ll be funny,” Miya didn’t look up from his game, but he did give a little mischievous grin at his suggestion.

“I am not writing ‘you’ve aged.’ that would be weird.”

“Then just add ‘well’ and a smiley face.” Reki said.

“‘Well, smiley face, you’ve aged? That doesn’t sound nice-”

Cherry was tired from their shenanigans all day, “Just write Happy Birthday, you damn gorilla,” and as he turned, he actually saw the cake. “Do you even know how to ice a cake?” he didn’t wait for an answer as he brought it back into the kitchen to fix the horrid decoration job. Hopefully it tasted better than it looked, Cherry had his work cut out for him.

With that, Joe figured they should probably finish up the final touches on everything, and Miya, Reki, and Langa were left in the restaurant with no adult supervision. Worst idea yet, the three of them were already up to trouble. Reki still thought the space could use more pizazz, as he knows Shadow is no simple man. Reki took a cup of glitter and started trying to find somewhere to put it, maybe on the tables? Yeah, that sounded good. He grabbed a pinch and sprinkled it over the plastic tablecloths, for some variety. He didn’t notice, but Langa was sneaking up behind him to get some glitter. By the time Reki figured it out, it was too late, and it was already everywhere.

“Dude! I just washed this hoodie!” Reki said with a smile. He laughed as he threw some glitter as a revenge attack, not noticing that Miya was right behind Langa.

As the first speck of glitter hit the console, Miya was up and throwing glitter back at his assailants. Reki ducked behind a booth, hopefully he'd be safe here. Alas, a face full of green and purple glitter hit him, very on brand. Reki got his own red ammo, and released it onto the catboy.

“What is going on here?” Oh noooo, mom’s back. They halted their war in fear of the pink haired man. “I can’t deal with this right now- Go visit the flower shop and tell his manager she needs to keep him busy. I need to sweep up this mess.” Without a word, the three boys marched single file out the door, sent on their mission.

They weren’t very subtle. Miya, Reki, and Langa went to try to tell Shadow’s- Uh, Higa’s Manager about his surprise birthday. While he was working. They didn’t plan out Cherry’s request that well.

Oh no, Higa came out of the break room, and Mrs manager went downstairs to work on a pick up order. He stopped in his tracks, seeing the devil’s dandruff all over the ground.

“Why the hell is there glitter everywhere.”

The three boys look down and they all start talking over each other, though none saying the truth. Higa was not having it, the more they panicked, the more it fell from their hair and clothes.

“No- you know what I don’t care, get out,” Higa started pushing the boys out the door, not without (very sparkly) protest. He just got done sweeping the main floor, and now these hooligans left a snail trail of unicorn barf that he’d have to clean up before more customers came in. It was a busy day too, Higa could barely have the time to think. He woke up, came to work, and has been busting his behind all day! He didn’t even remember his birthday, it was that bad. The days leading up to today hadn’t been easier either, what with everyone wanting bouquets for some reason.

By the time Reki, Miya, and Langa had gotten back to the restaurant, with an incomplete mission by the way, Oka had been called to help clean up the rest of the glitter while Cherry had to go back to the cake. Oka gave Reki the broom and dustpan he was using, sighing as he walked away to make sure other things were in order.

“What were you guys thinking, roughhousing so close to the start of the party,” Oka was getting ready to pick up Higa, unaware that the boys never got to tell the manager to keep him there. Reki was busy sweeping, Langa taking out trash bags, so Miya had to run after him out the door.

“Ah, wait! He might be home, I don’t- uh, we didn’t get to tell the manager to have him stay at work. I don’t know.” Oka nodded at the new information, and Miya dashed back in after a fallen streamer.

Oka figured he had nothing to lose if he checked the shop first, so he started there. Luckily, Shadow was just leaving. Oka ripped off his helmet and jogged to the locked door to wait for him to come out. He soon heard the door chime and he rose to meet Shadow.

“Oka, I uh- what are you doing here?” Shadow was confused, so Oka vaguely gestured to the moped and held out a helmet.

yknow what it still bothers me that i still haven't quite figured out reki's hair yet, but i am too lazy to practice so instead i will suffer with every reki drawing i post

“stop it!”

“i’m not doing anything!”

you jutted your bottom lip out at your best friend, reki, who was grinning at you teasingly. “i’m just saying that your hands are kinda small, and there’s nothing wrong with small things!” reki defended proudly. the two of you were sat on a ramp at the skate park. langa had a special dinner to attend with his mom that night, which was why it was just the two of you there today. the sun was setting, dipping slowly to the horizon as a mirage of oranges and deep purples began to unveil itself in front of the two of you.

reki was applying a few bandaids to your fingers from when you had bailed moments before. you could see that reki had scribbled designs on them the closer you looked: a few doodles of gears and miscellaneous drawings of what resembled “s”. you smiled at the rose he had drawn on the bandaid that stuck to your thumb, your smile gentle and warm as you observed his work. this boy held so much creativity in that pretty little head of his and he didn’t even realize it.

reki’s eyes peered over at your expression from the box of bandaids he was holding, watching your delicate features and the way the light made you look angelic at this time of day. his heart thrummed in his chest as you caught him looking. his red hair bobbed as he glanced around for something, anything, to form an excuse as to why he had just been caught staring. though, all you did was laugh. the blush that danced on his cheeks gave him away, his hands opting to reach for yours instead to inspect your fingers to redirect your attention. “did we get all of them?” you asked him, to which he nodded.

“yeah, but your hands are still small though,” he raised a finger to your nose, tapping the tip of it twice before giving you another silly smile. you huffed with a roll of your eyes, no malintent behind your actions. “oh please, they’re not that small. see, look,” you took one of his hands, raising it up and holding your own against his. his hands were calloused, worn from creating his own skateboards over the years. his fingers were a bit longer than yours, and you could see the black nail polish you had previously put on his fingernails starting to chip.

reki’s face was burning, though you didn’t seem to notice. “i told you,” you looked up at him to see amber eyes fixated on you. his goofy smile had lessened into one that was affectionate, tender in the way he took all of you in. small tingles began to shoot down your arm, your own blush rising up your neck. reki didn’t say anything, simply rotating his hand to allow his fingers to slip between yours comfortably. you looked at him in a bit of bewilderment, his entire demeanour catching you off guard.

“i know, hah. this is probably a bad time. but i’ve liked you for awhile, like more than friends, and i understand if you don’t like— i don’t know, like me like that because i mean hah.. there are a lot of better guys out there and uh..” reki’s words trailed off once he felt your warm hand squeeze his fingers. he watched your expression intently. your eyes were always so warm, so inviting to him. it made him feel appreciated, loved beyond belief, even if you two were simply friends. he really wouldn’t trade you for the world.

“i like you too,” you giggled, pulling his headband over his eyes and causing him to let out a squawk of surprise.

“and there’s no one i want more than you, reki.”

- reki always had to censor his swears bc of his little sisters so he comes up with alternatives like 'whizcrack' and 'sugarcicles' literally anything that comes to mind

- langa never really swore growing up either and after being around reki all the time he starts picking up and using made up swears too

- one of them will bail while trying a new trick and end up yelling 'schnizzlesnack' or some shit like that

- but also sometimes their brain doesnt catch up to what they're saying so they'll end up saying an actual word like cricket or cracker

- reki sucks at tying his shoes i don't have a reason for this but it's true he takes forever to do it

- reki had an obsession with dinosaurs when he was little and his mom kept a ton of drawings he did of them when he was younger and shows them to langa one day

- one of the drawings is of a plesiosaurus and its eloquently labeled "toast"

- one day rekis telling langa about how a lizard fell in his bowl of cereal when he was younger and langa is like "i had a standoff with a moose once" and rekis like you WHAT

- reki paints little designs on the twins' helmets when he starts teaching them how to skate

- langa got his ears pierced when he was 16 bc his mom wanted to get hers repierced since the holes had closed and he just decides to get them too

- they're just black studs and his hair usually covers his ears anyway

- but one time in the middle of class hes resting his head in his hand and his hair parts and reki sees the piercing and gets super flustered bc Holy Shit thats cute

- reki ends up asking him a ton of questions about it at lunch that day and spontaneously decides he too wants to pierce his ears

- so he recruits koyomi to help him do it since he figures if anyones willing to stab a hole in his ear its her

- she agrees and it ends up with reki sitting on the edge of the bathtub freaking the fuck out with a needle through his ear while koyomi freaks out with him and langa pretends not to laugh

- they end up having to get rekis mom to help but by some miracle reki ends up with two (definitely uneven) piercings and he feels epic

- langas favorite movie is die hard bc him and his parents used to watch it every christmas and he shows the movie to reki who ends up thinking bruce willis is the absolute coolest and watches a ton of movies hes in

- including the sixth sense which even tho its not all that scary freaks him out and he ends up texting langa at 3am asking if he thinks miya can see ghosts too

- gummy worms make reki hyper and langa always gets them for him when he stops at the store

- reki gets langa glow in the dark stars to put on his ceiling bc he thinks his room is too boring

- langa and his mom come over to the kyans' house for board games/cards once a month

- langa always wins uno but thats literally only bc of luck but it annoys the crap out of reki bc hes always on the receiving end of the +2 and +4s

- langas mom shows reki baby videos the first time they meet and langas embarrassed but doesnt really do anything bc he likes watching the videos of him and his dad too

- theres one of langa when hes like 7 years old dancing on his dads feet and it makes both langa and his mom tear up and before he leaves reki hugs both of them and thanks them for sharing that stuff with him

- langas mom adores reki

- also the first time nanako meets him she does one of those wide eye raised eyebrow oh ho ho looks at langa

- rekis mom thinks theyre dating and she'll randomly start vacuuming outside rekis room so she can peak in and make sure they're not doing anything "inappropriate"

- nanako and masae become besties and gossip about their sons

- all of rekis sisters love langa and the twins constantly cling onto his legs when he comes over

- at first langa doesn't know how to react but eventually he starts treating them like his own siblings (which with how much hes over there they might as well be) and he absolutely loves them

- reki thinks it's adorable every time langa lowers his voice to talk to one of them or lets them play with his fingers
