Hi there! I got these photos of some cute little fungi a little while ago and though you might like them :) I think they're Leratiomyces ceres but I'm not fully sure. Anyways absolutely love your blog it always makes my day <3
the little white warts make me think it may actually be leratiomyces squamosus, but you could also be correct !! i do believe you've nailed the genus nonetheless.
very very pretty mushrooms !! they look like little flapjacks dusted with coconut flakes. 11/10 :-)
thank you for your support<3 i love getting sent mushroom pictures. take care, kass. x

Leratiomyces ceres, commonly known as the Redlead Roundhead, is mushroom which has a bright red to orange cap and dark purple-brown spore deposit. It is usually found growing gregariously on wood chips and is one of the most common and most distinctive mushrooms found in that habitat. It is common on wood chips and lawns in North America, Europe, Australia, New Zealand and elsewhere.

Redlead roundhead (Leratiomyces ceres)
These roundheads were looking far slicker than you’d usually expect after a night of rain, still pooling in their uneven caps. It also served to wash off most of the white veil fragments, though you can still see a few scraps clinging to the edge of the caps. They would have dried to a far duller brick-red, which is especially attractive as their gills start to darken brownish-purple as the spores mature and release. These pretty fungi are mildly poisonous, and will cause an upset stomach if eaten.

My favorite videogame: Redlead Roundhead Redemption! :D
This is Leratiomyces ceres, aka the redlead roundhead. It’s poisonous, but pretty! I often find it growing in woodchips - it’s saprotrophic and digests wood.

Here's the second batch of fungal friends! These three ruffians are based off of Dog Stinkhorn, Redlead Roundhead and Bracket fungi. I'll have to draw more of these little guys one day, it was a fun challenge designing them!
