Writer's Summary (of first work in series)
Admins and gods have always been interconnected for thousands of years. Neither could exist without the other, for the gods required the strength of the human soul and the humans needed the gods’ magic to create worlds to reside in.
Their relationship is maintained through deals made between the two. An exchange of sorts. From their transaction, a server is born.
A certain god overlooks the Dream SMP though he rarely gives thought to his responsibilities. Ignoring the server’s pressing issues, he abandoned his admin in favour of dealing with his own concerns.
But when a certain human threatens his admin, he is forced to ask himself a question.
Will he intervene?

Punz didn’t say anything else. Dream knew what Punz was seeing. He didn’t know what it all looked like, per se, but he remembered each strike, slash, carve, burn, where whole patches of his skin would slough off like putty and come back darker, warped to the touch. Burning, Quackity had learned quickly, was what panicked Dream the most.

Dream is slain by Warden's Willbreaker (on purpose, on accident?) during one of Quackity's early torture sessions. A canon death, a final curtain.
This should be the end for him—it's his last life, after all, and at most he'd come back as a ghost but that's not guaranteed and he's certainly not that lucky—and yet, and yet...
And yet he's alive. Somehow, someway, he's alive. Not in limbo, not respawned in Pandora's Vault, not anywhere he recognizes. He's alive and now he has to figure out what happened, why, and where he goes from here with his unexpected second chance.
Ch 11 || his hopeful future, slowly crafted
I want windows I can open, Dream decides, abrupt but resolute.
Surprised by his own candor, he squints an eye and rolls the idea over in his mind despite the knee jerk reaction to bury it beneath an avalanche of refusals. Something melancholy, something curiously hopeful twines its way into the yawning chasm in his chest near his heart.
