My brother in law has a newfound love of buying blind bags of 3D-printed DnD miniatures. These two are some of my favourites, and I've spent a little while today prepping them for painting. The big one on the left was on a pretty oversized base, and she lost her foot when the whole base shattered apart! Orcs attack! DnD night is here again, and - for the first time - the party ended up in two combat encounters back to back. The orcs weren't that big of a threat on their own, but after pushing their luck with another Ochre Jelly, the party wasn't quite prepared for the arrival of three, very fast moving piles of iron and muscle. It was enough for them to finally break out the cursed item they've been saddled with. I'm torn on the Ochre Jelly. On the one hand, I love the aesthetic, the gimmick, and the worldbuilding they can offer. On the other hand, they are a huge experience reward for a fairly anemic encounter. It may be a resilient creature - with a veritable bag of hitpoints, and an immunity to some of the most common attacks in DnD - but they are not immune to arrows. Ten feet of movement, twenty if they really go for it, just aren't enough to catch up with a Thief and a Ranger bringing down one after another with concentrated bow fire, while sprinting every which way around a very large room. It was a very different story when a single Jelly ambushed the party as they rested in a small guard room. Being forced to fight in a very small space very nearly killed a level three Player Character. A quick speed paint had an unexpected casualty, tonight. After a hundred and fifteen days, I've finally had a major paint spillage, and my long suffering Agrax Earthshade is reduced to dregs at the bottom of a pot. It took my over-used paint pallette sheets with it, too. @reaperminiatures Burrowing Behemoth. I used a dark gray base coat then did several different washes. Black for definition, red for claws and teeth, and then I put some green on randomly to give the appearance of mold/moss growing on its rocky surface.
