his father pays for every expense, and life in new york is good. the city itself is loud, his neighbors aren’t kind, but he likes his little apartment near school, and he likes the girl who gives him tours of the city.
he learns the ins and outs of new york with her, and learns that she brings a different side of him, a carefree, spontaneous side. they began a romantic relationship that quickly turns sour. they’re constantly hot and cold, and it’s emotionally draining.
his parents find out about his lie two months after graduation, and he’s instantly cut off. it doesn’t hurt as much now, he’s financially stable, working at a bistro. it isn’t his, it isn’t quiet and it isn’t at the corner of a street, but it’s good enough.

a traditional korean family struggles to make ends meet in the late 70s, and the american dream becomes an enticing concept. the united states is a land of opportunities, isn't it ? and so, they pursue employment there.
but attaining the american dream isn’t as easy as it sounded, and after three children are born, putting food on the table and paying bills on time prove to be challenging for the shin family.
klaus witnesses that struggle first hand; bullies make fun of his off-brand walmart shoes, frozen dinners eaten alone while parents work and even power cut-offs for being late on electric bills.
at fifteen he gets a job mowing the lawn in the north side of chicago. and his first experience in a rich neighborhood sets him in a new path, one that shapes him into what he is today.
he excels in academics and extracurricular activities, he studies harder, he works harder, he becomes a better son and a better brother. he doesn’t stop until he’s proud, until he’s accepted to more than half of the universities he applied for.
and that’s when life begins, when he moves out and gets enrolled in university of southern california with a full scholarship, and says his goodbyes to his family with the promise of giving his parents and sisters a better life.
it takes years, but he gets there. he makes a name for himself and his family, with a degree in aviation technology, a commercial pilot certificate and a salary that’s double the national average.
he buys his parents a house, he helps his youngest sister’s college tuition, but the family bond weakens with his distance. he doesn’t visit, he doesn’t call, he doesn’t text. the only interaction being monthly deposits into their checking account.
life remains lonely, and life remains busy, and he accepts it. until pretty girl bumps into him at the airport. an embarrassing coffee accident turned into love story brings him back to what he once was—happy, excited, alive.

Out of the three Manoban children, it was Amara who was born away from home. At the time, health complications had forced Chaeo away from her other two children. Sadly, only one of them would return in Thailand where the children where put under the care of their grandmother until they were of an age where they could be sent away and get the best education their father could afford.
Sent in boarding schools in France only made the siblings come closer. No matter what, it was them against the world, though Amara never understood why their dad always favoured her brothers ( and even though at some point she understood why ) she never held that against them. They went to the best schools, had everything they needed and more but lacked one thing; the warmth.
When her brothers moved back to Thailand to help their father with the company, Amara followed a year later in hopes they could embrace her and accept her ideas. Little did she know, that not only their dad wasn’t interested, but he seemed to appreciate his new wife’s ideas more. Taking the decision to just move on and do what she loves, Amara picked up her camera and did what she knew best; started taking photos and created a blog to help travellers with their trips in Asia.
To this day, Amara is helping her brothers in secret with ideas, or issues in the company. They take the credit -- but she’s happy knowing they count on her and care for her opinion.

It was during one of these trips, when she met Klaus. ( @klcus ) A coffee accident at the airport was embarrassing enough, but Amara never expected to see that same guy on the same plane as the pilot. The same pilot that sent her a complimentary coffee as a way to apologise -- and asked her out for dinner.
The same pilot that for the past three years, had been a constant in her life. Klaus quickly became her best friend, the reason behind her smile. Making plans to travel all over the world, where they could be together, taking photos and enjoying their time together was one of their dreams.
But all good things to an end... or at least that is the feelings Amara had for a couple of months. It first started with missed texts and calls, missed dinners, not having enough time to show up and go on a date or stay over for a few days to see her. What was the cherry on top, was when he missed her birthday -- all because of work. Gathering the few belongings she had to his place, Amara distanced herself.
Still, ending things with Klaus without giving him another chance, never crossed her mind. As confusing as it was, she agreed on making it to the WILL THEY OR WON’T THEY in hopes to make it work.

his mother is a starlet who moved to california shortly after she graduated to star in a soap opera that everyone and their grandmother obsess over in his early years. his father graduated magna cum laude at an ivy league and decided running their city was his main priority. somewhere in the mix finn gets left behind, a problem for the nannies, the gardeners, and the cooks. he loves them all, considering them as his family every night as he falls asleep counting the notches on the posts of his bed.
his teen years bring rebellion to their marbled doorstep, but no one is home to notice. the staff loves him too much to allow his parents to find out, even if they care enough to stop by once every six months. he back talks teachers, gets suspended, and rewards himself but shooting golf balls off the roof of his home. when parents are called in, his driver and maid show up and earn an extra grand for pretending to care. he is a well oiled machine craving attention from the two people who ignore him most.
he graduates, goes to college, and surprisingly he gets through with high marks. he thanks his father’s dismissive comment about paying off the school to get his diploma if things go south. it is a cracked door, one he puts his foot in to stop. his intelligence holds strong, and he thinks that will be enough. he laughs about it now as he drinks whiskey over legal documents. he could paint himself red and his parents wouldn’t notice, unless, somehow, it reflects negatively on them. he never stops trying anyway.

History
she does not remember a time when she isn’t wishing for something more. stocking the shelves at her parents’ corner grocery shop at five years old, she remembers vividly watching the people walk by through the large plate glass windows up front. they are all different, some tall and dressed in all black, others short and wearing every color on the spectrum. she is sitting cross legged on a linoleum floor watching the world pass by without her. she decides early to never let that become a habit.
by twelve she has the surrounding twenty blocks memorized like the back of her hand. she never stops pushing herself to go farther, to run faster, just so she can see more, but twelve year old legs have their limits. she is fifteen when she convinces her parents to let her get a subway pass, a buss pass, a pass to see the world beyond the scope of her parents’ bumpers. if she hits the gutter, she wants to do it at full speed. she is willing to feel the pain, because perhaps it is a vivid reminder that she is alive.
though she promises for two solid years to move out on her eighteenth birthday, that does not happen. she must work, she finds, long hours, hard shifts, anything to get herself out. college is laughable. all of her family’s funds go into their store, their home (a ten floor walk up in queens), and there is nothing left to spare for a silly degree. her parents don’t understand why she needs a degree when she has a grocery store. dreams come second to logic in their worlds, and she balks at the idea.
she learns to speak up for her dreams, for herself, and perhaps she takes it too far sometimes. assertiveness does not do her any favors, but she does not lose ground either. she works hard, moves out at twenty, and even if she doesn’t give up her parents’ shop as a constant side job, her newfound freedom is the space she needs to spread her wings. pieces start falling into place, and her unique viewpoint, that striking need to say her piece, gets her a dream job at an up and coming tech company.
she is twenty one when she meets the kind brazilian boy in her parent’s grocery store, and he is the first she lets completely into her world. she falls fast, hard, and just like in all walks of her life, she finds herself unable to give back the inches she takes. compromise is a lost concept, and from their love a chaotic cycle is born, one she returns to over and over, unable to let go of the one who saw her first. when the show finds her, she thinks it is a sign.
she all but forces him to go, because she fully believes this will snap them into focus. this is what they need, and now that her career, her life, everything else is falling into place, all she needs is him.

02. INFORMATION
alba was born in havana, cuba. the daughter of a spanish diplomat and a cuban woman.
death tw: her father passed away when alba was just a bit over a year old and thanks to her marriage to a spaniard diplomat, her mother was able to leave cuba and move to spain with her daughter.
once in spain, her mother pretty much abandoned alba and spent most of her life traveling with the inheritance her husband left them while alba was left under the guardianship of her paternal aunt.
the salinas were wealthy and known in spain. her aunt was a very pragmatic woman and while she loved alba, she also could be very strict and tactless.
alba grew up very lonely. her mother would visit her once in a while only to comply with the rules of the inheritance which stated she had to spend time with her daughter.
bullying tw: she was a very reserved child, and she was bullied because of a stutter she developed. her confidence was nowhere to be seen and it didn’t help that she was always compared to her mother who was a beauty of her own and alba simply felt as if she was not as beautiful or good as her mother. she believed this was the reason why she didn’t love her.
beauty and perfection were attributes gifted only to her mother, and so, a desire for acceptance took a hold of her. at 18, she visited cannes for the summer to be with her mom.
the was a bird let out of the cage, and after that first rush of freedom, she realized she didn’t want to return to the nest. the two months at Cannes turned into three and then four.
for the following years, alba spent the next years spending her trust fund in lavish parties, dating people that treated her like shit and she was surrounded by a bunch of fake friends. however, it was all worth it because for once she had the acceptance she longed for.
it wasn’t until she turned twenty-five and her aunt passed away that she got a waking call and realized how shallow and wasteful her life had become.
she left that life and moved to mallorca where she settled at one of the family’s homes. she started doing what she loved the most which was painting and began to get involved into the art business, opening her own art gallery.
it was in mallorca where she met callie while she was on vacations. it all happened fast but one thing led to another and soon callie was moving to mallorca to be with her.
it was her own insecurity and abandonment issues that cause a strain in their relationship and she is still not sure what made her think joining this reality is gonna do for them.
03. PERSONALITY
alba is a dreamer by nature, she enjoys daydreaming and making up stories and conversations in her head. she is very sensible, and she has strong emotional responses to music, art, nature, and the people she interacts with. however, she also keeps a lot of things to herself, especially her insecurities. she longs for deep connections but she is also scared of getting attached and then being left or feeling smothered. she’s extremely empathetic, which often causes her to feel overwhelm with things that are out of her control or are not even her problem.
