Bertholdt Hoover and Cameron Frye (Ferris Buellers Day Off) are one in the same person. I think a lot of people have this speculation of Bertholdt as a ‘soft boy’ or whatever stupid shit they label him but no, that’s not how I see Bertholdt. Bertholdt has no interests, he’s skilled in everything he does, he lets people walk all over him and he knows that and hates it about himself. There’s a scene in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off when Bertholdt Cameron loses himself in a painting, really analyzing the painting down to the literal brush strokes onto the canvas. He (both Bertholdt and Cameron) over analyze and overthink and make excuses for every single thing to get out of living a fulfilling life. As the camera starts to zoom into the painting, we, the audience, start to see the very intricate details of the painting. I think this represents Bertholdt’s outlook on life. He is so lost in his head and his deep thinking about everything, that he lacks the ability to see the big picture and just let the “beauty” (tragedy in canon) be acknowledged. That’s until his demise, where he was the first character to ever realize the truth, when he’s finally gained some sort of backbone, but it didn’t matter at the end. He finally looked at the big picture just to be completely forgotten by those he loved.
