Meera : Wine if he really had to choose, but not the cheap ones, the obnoxiously expensive ones.

Ethan : I don't know why you like cheap wine

Meera : Because one it doesn't cost a fortune, two it gets me tipsy enough so basically does the job.

Ethan (rolls eyes)

A Cruise or Camping

Meera : Cruise because he isn't an outdoorsy person at all. Also private cruises because Dr. Richie Rich Ramsey hates people.

Ethan (poorly contains a laugh) : I won't disagree with you on this but that name should go down on your nickname list.

Meera : Yes I'll put it right next to entitled jackass and spoiled child. (laughs)

Horror Movie or Chick Flick

Ethan : Niether

Meera : Hey! I was supposed to answer!

Ethan : Go ahead but there is only one correct answer and that's niether.

Meera (rolls eyes) : You'll have to pick one. That's the freaking rule! Right Bree?

Bree (nods affirmatively)

Meera : I think horror but he complains a lot like a lot! (clears throat and attempts to say in Ethan's voice) This is not sensical! They should have called 911! That's not how a body looks after removing its head.

Ethan : I DON'T sound like that.

Meera : You do babe. And don't get me started on Chick Flicks. Once I made him watch one that too a bollywood one he had a headache for hours after that. (chuckles)

Ethan : Worst 3 hrs of my life.

Meera : Yeah gotta admit it was a little too much torture for the old man. But I made up for it later. (winks)

Stay at home or Go out in the rain

Meera : Stay at home. He doesn't let me go out in the rain at all, no matter the puppy eyes I make at him!

Ethan : I don't understand your unhealthy obsession with rain. It's raining put on a soft opera cook some pasta and then let's dance together in the living room.

Meera : When you put it like that, you know I can't resist your pasta. (goes in for a chaste kiss)

Ethan : Or me (grins)

Get up early or Stay up late

Meera : Both. I don't have any idea how he does it but he does. If he is set on finishing up a case before going to bed he'll definitely do it and then wake up at the break of dawn go for a run and cook breakfast before I even open my eyes! It's like something miraculous.

Ethan : Someday maybe you'll become a morning person too.

Meera : Nope, not happening Ramsey. I love my sleep too much.

Ethan (opens mouth too say something)

Meera (immediately) : Yes, even more than you. And I am married to it for decades.

Ethan, what would Meera rather?

Cook dinner or Do the dishes

Ethan : Both. She is the type of person who cleans as she cooks, one of the few things we match on.

Meera : It's been a habbit since forever because when I see the sink overflowing with dishes after I cook, I freak out. Although my favourite is when I cook and my super helpful husband offers to clean up.

Ethan : But she won't do vice versa. She won't clean if she hasn't cooked.

Meera : That's true lol.

Diamonds or Pearls

Ethan : Diamonds.

Meera : Nailed it!

Live in the city or Live in the country

Ethan : Honestly depends on her mood. Someday she complains why we don't live closer to the hospital and someday she wishes to be able to see the beach from our bedroom.

Meera : You can't blame a girl for dreaming!

Walk on the beach or Dance in the club

Ethan (thinks for a moment) : Tough choice actually. She loves the beach quite dearly and she loves dancing, especially drunk dancing. So I think dancing on the beach?

Meera (impressed) : You sure you are not taking any secret mind reading lessons? That's exactly what I had in mind.

Ethan (grinning) : No my love. Just spending a lot more time with you.

Travel overseas or Explore locally

Ethan : She enjoys any and every kind of travel. But if she had to pick one I think she'll go with overseas because she loves experiencing different cultures and food.

Meera : Nailed it again! (kisses him) I basically would have love to wake up in a new country everyday.

A white knight in shining armor? Or a magical black queen?

In her interview with Professor Stringfield and Bezi Yohannes on the Dreaming in the Dark podcast, Tracy Deonn the author of Legendborn states that she does not want to fix the character of Briana and that each of her feelings are valid. Why does the main character, and that is to say, the hero of the story, is supposed to be this perfect figure in order to be successfully represented as a hero?

Bree is a young black woman who has to deal with so much that she should not have to endorse everything and come out as the “greater person.” She is human, she has feelings, emotions, good, bad, and ugly, all the same, those are valid. I think that what is really interesting concerning this idea of being a good main character here, is that Bree frees herself from two minority stereotypes: being a woman and African-American. Throughout my college readings, it seems that minorities are represented as the conscience of the main, often a white male character. Indeed, the black enslaved man is usually objectified as a compass throughout the journeys of the white man towards redemption. In Legendborn Bree is not a moral compass. She is angry and feisty and she does not make her mission to educate people around and even less racist people. She has her own journey and her emotions are centered around her. She feels what a young black student feels surrounded by white people, what a young black woman feels when being treated as less by white males, what a child feels after losing her mother, what a friend feels after losing her best friend, what a girl feels when she has her first boyfriend. The only thing that I may not be able to present as relatable might be the fact that she has powers and that she is a part of a secret society and even then I might be able to argue for that. My point is that Bree is relatable, even more for all the young black women that often feel unseen in the magic world of fantasy and in the scenery of a majorly white college. I think that Bree is an even better main character because of that.

Even though I loved the novel and could not, and still can not leave Bree out of my brain, at some point in the story Bree took turns that made me want to shake her. One of them being Nick! I am obsessed with a good love story but that was not what I imagined. The character of Nick was intriguing to me on multiple facts. Nick is the typical sweet guy, a gentleman, a respectable man, and with the right amount of white savior complex. I was concerned by how quickly Nick felt that it was his duty to help Bree on her journey. I guess that without him her investigation of her identity and the death of her mother, things could have been much more complicated but still. Nick is really clear from the beginning that he does not want anything to do with his father and Arthur’s secret society. So why does he bow to Bree? Because in his heart he knows that Bree is Arthur’s Scion and that he is Lancelot’s one? I mean it could be but those are two different periods. Arthur is a white warrior, Bree is a black woman, of course, she is powerful and very capable as her path shows. But Nick’s implication shows that in our world, people of color, and especially women do not get to be independent. Although Bree might have fallen in love with this character, she is aware of Nick’s white savior complex ““If someone says something to you, anything, let me know. I’ll put a stop to it.” I look at Nick’s face. He is so certain that he understands what I’m facing.”

I was scared that because of Nick’s savior complex, Bree would lose power over her own story, but every time I expected him to show up and save the day, he was busy with his dad or injured. Bree’s story is not to be rescued by her boyfriend, which is essential. Neither is it her mission to save him all by herself. Most of the time men’s control over the women’s destiny is romanticized which diminishes women’s control over their own fate and legitimacy to have this power over themselves. In Legendborn, Bree’s (dis)ability, like Sami Schalk define in Bodyminds Reimagined, Chapter 1: “Metaphor and Materiality” is overthrown by no one else but herself. She is in control of her power and her “lack” of power. When Bree realizes that she is Arthur’s Scion, and becomes the king/queen of the round table she claims back what had been taken away from her and her mother’s ancestors before her, the power. Where her grandmother had to endure slavery, rape, and run away from one of Arthur’s Scion, Briana is able to fight against this white male supremacy and stand up to it. Although I think it is also made possible by the fact that she is living in our time where life for minorities became better. I want to put the emphasis on the trauma that she had to experience in order to discover her past and claim back the power. Bree went back in time and experienced what her ancestors did but she had to experience the trauma present in her own time. In that sense, she reminds me of Dana in the graphic adaptation of Kindred. Briana and Dana are both women of the “present” and they have to experience a trauma that no one should experience and yet it is necessary to their development. Both of them are marked by this knowledge of the past, Dana loses her arm and Bree might lose total control of her own will, influenced by King Arthur: “I fight against Arthur’s will, but he will not yield.”

Another passage that really struck me in the novel concerning Nick is when he purposefully hit Sly knowing that this one can not fight back, Sel’s vow forbidding him to do so. A quote from the graphic novel adaptation of Kindred came to my mind after this scene “They just had a little fun terrorizing people not allowed to fight back” (p.53). And that is what Nick does to Sel. Although I don think that Sly got frightened by the punch Nick threw at him, but more about his incapacity to defend himself. In this scene, Nick is carrying the awful legacy of his ancestors, slave-owning, and the power of masters over enslaved people. I think that the danger with re-imagining stories is that we can be tempted to romanticize and embellishes the truth into creating a utopian world. The Netflix show Bridgerton, directed by Shondaland present this inclusive diverse victorian society without mentioning the reality of slavery and/or racism at that time. I like the fact that the cast in the show is very diverse and that it puts people of color at power but by forgetting the ugliness of this period, I think that the show allows history to be forgotten. For me, Tracy Deonn showed the bipolarity of being an empowered black woman and still being discriminated against for it in her re-imagining of the past and present.

The question and the fear that I have is that Bree becomes Arthur’s “page” and loses her own free will. The importance of Arthur’s legacy is equally as important as her “aether” power and I am excited to see how the two power present inside her are going to coexist.

Meera : So, a little backstory. Dr. Ramsey kissed me infront of the entire hospital on the day of the Gala. But then didn't want to make our relationship public. I agreed because everyone was not in a right mindspace with the hospital closing and losing jobs.

Ethan : We were also figuring things out since we no longer would be working in the same place.

Meera : Then the hospital got saved and everything went back to normal. But he still didn't want to make it public. Next he wanted to take me for a getaway before the hospital opened after the remodeling. So I told him that I had to make it public now.

Ethan : As far as I remember, you ordered.

Meera : Yes I did. You tell me Bree what was I gonna tell my roommates? That I am going away for a romantic getaway with my BOSS? So I had to make it public a week before we left with this post. And all my friends and acquaintances literally roasted us alive in the comments. (facepalms)

Ethan : In my defense, how was I suppose to know that every single person knew?

Meera : You weren't quite subtle about it babe.

Ethan : But at the end it all paid off. (kisses Meera)

Anyways can I just say that these questions were just brilliant!! Book 1 is so close to our hearts and Ethan MC dynamic back in the day was priceless. 😂

Just a fair warning this contains a lot of pinching noses and rolling eyes because that's what book 1 Ethan used to do all the time. So now let the fun begin! 🤩

Ethan : Very funny Rookie. She on the other hand has an explicit vocabulary in slangs but I think I have heard holy shit, holy cow, holy fuck the most.

Meera (excitedly) : See I am religious too. Also look at us twining in swears.

Meera (immediately) : Ocean Blue! No, Celestial blue!

Ethan (looks at Meera, surprised)

Meera (suddenly concious) : Blue. Just plain simple blue.

Ethan (thinks for a moment)

Meera (puts a hand over her eyes)

Meera : I won't let you cheat.

Ethan : Cheat? I don't cheat.

Meera : Ofcourse the great Ethan Ramsey doesn't cheat. Then go ahead and ans---

Ethan : Dark brown.

Meera (heaves out a long dramatic sigh) : Ask me whom he doesn't?

Ethan : I tolerate most of them though.

Meera (chuckles) : I think it'll be Dr. Thorne, Dr. Myles and Dr. Hirata. Atleast these are the ones he complains about the most.

Ethan : Hmm. Fair enough. Bose here obviously hates that back stabbing "friend" whose name I'd rather die than learn. And I think Dr. Emery and Dr. Mirani also falls under this list.

Meera : Full point for the first one, but I think Aurora is a good person overall, she has some issues, which we need to work out. And I don't hate Zaid, I just don't like how he is always in a grumpy melancholic mood.

Ethan : Which is very justified of him given that he has to work with the interns the majority of his work hours.

What is your coworker’s strangest or most endearing quirk?

Meera : Easy, pinching the bridge of his nose and rolling his eyes when annoyed, which is all the time by the way.

Ethan : I think adjusting her glasses when it threatens to slip from her nose and forming her lips in a strange way when concentrating.

Bree : I am sorry doctor could you just explain the last part better.

Ethan (rolls his eyes and tries to do his best impression of Meera's pout)

Meera (chuckles) : That's not how it's done, Ethan. This is how it's done (pouts)

Ethan : Yeah same thing.

Ethan : Crush? What are we? Highschool students? I am not answering that. (prepares to leave)

Meera : I think it might be Dr. Emery.

Ethan (stops short on his way out, turns around and takes a seat again) : Really Rookie? Fine you want to know her crush? It's that scalpel jockey, or that paramedic guy she is so friends with or maybe that other Indian intern roomate she has.

Meera : What! No. They are my friends. What made you think that?

Ethan : What made you think Harper is my crush?

Bree : Okay doctors let's move on to the next round.

Meera : Expected. For me it's yes. Maybe it didn't last but I can't say what we had wasn't love.

Where do you see him in five years (both professionally and in his personal life?)

He thinks he won't practice medicine anymore because he can't solve Naveen's case but I know he won't be able to resist helping people and ofcourse that is what Naveen always wanted. So, professionally, he is doing wonders. Inspiring thousands of hearts, guiding hundreds of young doctors and saving millions of lives. The diagnostic team has becomes globally recognised. He has written another book or two. Maybe won the Lasker Awards.

Personally, I hope he is happy and not lonely. He needs someone by his side. Someone who can tolerate his sarcasm and critisisim. Someone who will put a smile on his face when he wakes up beside her. Maybe he'll have a family, if that someone is really strong-willed. (let's out a dry laugh)

What do you find the most impressive about him?

His passion for what he does. He just lights up and enrapts the entire room when he speaks about medicine. And I just get lost in the sea of passion in his eyes. Also his stubbornness and unwillingness to give up is really impressive.

Last thing he texted you?

I'll show you wait.

He ordered about half a dozen books on Medical Law and Ethics for me.

If he asked you out on a date, what would you say?

(stays silent for a long time)

I don't think so he will. Like the chances are really really thin but trust me if he does I wouldn't dare say no. (colour rises to her cheeks)

But yes that's in a different world. A world in which we don't live. (sighs wistfully)

For Ethan (Meera is not there)

Where do you see her in five years (both professionally and in his personal life?)

If she manages to save her lisence she'll be a wonderful doctor. She'll save innumerable lives and be one of the brightest stars in medicine. I am sure she'll secure a spot on the DT and maybe even lead it someday. She'll make me proud. (smiles genuinely)

Personally I hope she'll be with someone who loves her more than anything and that she is with literally anybody else but that scalpel jockey. She'll have a loving caring partner who'll cook her meals when she comes home from a twelve hour shift. She'll have amazing friends especially the ones she has now. They really love her and they didn't think twice before helping her out with Mrs. Martinez's case.

Ethan : I can't say attractive but I'll say I like her personality. She has a magnetic one that makes sure to turn heads any time she walks into a room. Also I love that she cares so deeply about people and she is willing to go out of her way to put a smile on these people's face. Like for example Mrs. Martinez.

Bree : So is this "like" or "love"?

Ethan : Did I? Did I just say love? I am so sorry I meant like.

Bree : Could you enlist something physically attractive about her?

Ethan : If I have to. I'd say I love, er... like, like her laughter. It literally brightens the entire room. (blushes)

If she asked you out on a date, how would you respond?

(sighs) I would feel lucky to go on a date with her, but right now in this situation? It's too complicated. I can't jeopardize her career, so it's a no form me, despite my actual feelings.

Newlyweds Game : FRIENDS Edition

The last late newlyweds. Honestly the most fun set of questions. A huge thank you to @jamespotterthefirst for the questions. Bree you rock!

I have set this right after Game of Hearts (which by the way is a great fic and you should definitely check it out). You'll find Kevin here with the rest of the EB gang. Get to know him here. Apart from that you'll find mentions of Lina (get to know her here) and Ritu who is Meera's best friend since middle school.

Okay all informations provided now let's start with the question! 💃🏽💟

Donahue's is packed. Doctors from both Edenbrook and Mass Kenmore have flooded and filled it to the brim, all wanting a drink after the very intense game that day.

Despite that Ethan's acquaintance with Reggie has earned the gang a table in the beer garden, where all of them lounge, going over the day's events.

There is warmth and mirth in the air, jokes followed by laughs filling the void when Meera's phone dinged with a text.

"Guys, Bree is here I am going to bring her in. Ethan, I need you to find an empty table for the interview."

"What's the harm in doing it in front of us?" Raf asked.

"Well after last week's questions, I am not taking a chance."

With this both of them depart. Meera returns a couple minutes later with Bree in tow. "Everyone, Bree. Bree, everyone." Everyone exchanges greetings.

Ethan joins a few minutes later, "nope. No more tables available."

"So I guess we'll do it here then."

"No. After last week, I do not trust Bree's questions anymore."

"What if we do a friend's edition?" Bree says.

Everyone looks at her puzzled. "Well since all of your closest friends are here, why don't we interview them instead?"

"That is going to be so cool!" Bryce said. "Any chance to embarrass Ramsey," Jackie downed her tequila shot.

Ethan pinches the bridge of his nose, "looks like this also not going to end well for me."

Questions for the friends:

How did you first find out about their relationship? Were you surprised?

Sienna : When she came back from Miami, I started guessing something was up. Surprised, a bit.

Rafael : I think it's safe to say all of us had our assumptions throughout the two years, but the kiss at the hopeful hearts sealed the deal.

Harper : None of us was surprised in the least, because they weren't subtle at all. Ethan was literal heart eyes around her.

Tobias : Having known him for that long I knew there was something special about this girl when he suited up and spent the night with her after the attack.

How was the rumor mill at Edenbrook once they went public? Did you have to defend their honor?

Elijah : Ughhh! It was the only thing people were talking about for months.

Harper : There were good and bad sides to this.

Sienna : Yes like some were swooning over how romantic and er… hot that public kiss was.

Bryce : Others were not that kind at all and they were met with the fate of getting hit by these magic hands.

Jackie : What pissed me the most was the racism that came along with calling her a gold digger, opportunist and whatnot.

Aurora : I know! It even reached MK!

What was your first impression of Ethan? Did he fit into the friend group right away?

The group looks around, sharing a laugh.

Jackie : He stuck out like a sore thumb.

Bryce : Hey! Don't say that to my gym bud. Sure he is an oldie but believe me he is a goldie. (winks)

Ethan (shakes his head)

Sienna : Sure it took him some time but once he let down his guard a little bit he is real fun to be around.

The group gives her a disbelieving look.

Sienna : Whaat? Don't look at me like that. Try and cook with him someday you'll see he is not that bad.

Ethan : Ahem, I am right here.

Elijah : Yeah but like I think we warmed up to Kev faster than we did to him.

Kevin (visibly elated) : Damn! Atleast I beat Ethan Ramsey at something.

Meera : First impressions?

Aurora : Arrogant, jerk.

Rafael : Frightening, terrifying.

Harper : Could work on that attitude

Tobias : Cool dude

What’s the most adorable thing they do as a couple?

Jackie : I need another shot or five to survive through this question.

Kevin : Being the most badass and savage power couple in the world

Aurora : Same. But you got competition now. (kisses his cheek)

Rafael : The stolen kisses in the hallways.

Harper : They don't anymore but I loved seeing them work together through the DT cases.

Elijah : Meera saving the interns from Ethan's wrath on their first day.

Sienna : When they visit the peds ward to spend time with the kids.

Bryce : Leaving cute little notes for each other.

Which of their dates would you have liked to crash?

Jackie : None if I am sober.

Meera : Really?

Jackie : But wait. Ramsey is loaded so I'll happily crash for the fancy food and alcohol.

Sienna : The picnic dates at Boston Common.

Elijah : When Meera pulls him to go to the arcade.

Aurora : The cooking dates. It's quite unfair both of them cook so well, whereas Kev and I just have takeout dates.

Kevin : Don't worry, babe. I'll learn to cook someday.

Bryce : Yeah, my boy all the best with that. Honestly I would happily crash the racing track dates. A little offended that I discovered the place and I don't get an invite anymore.

Rafael : The food festival dates.

Tobias : The speakeasy dates.

Harper : Opera dates.

Did you ever witness a walk of shame (or anything else of the sort)?

Elijah avoids eye contact with Sienna

Bryce and Rafael also don't meet each other's eyes.

Harper keeps her head down.

Tobias let's out a dry laugh.

Tobias : Okay! I'll start. I kind of caught them in the middle of the act in the DT office.

Meera : That was just a kiss.

Tobias : Well by the look of it, it would surely proceed to more if I hadn't interrupted.

Elijah : Sienna and I caught Meera sneaking Ethan out of our apartment the morning after the ethics trial.

Jackie : Wait. It happened right under my nose? Why didn't I know about that?

Rafael : Well me and Bryce had gone down to the hospital gym once and … we heard noises from the restroom.

Ethan's eyes reaching his forehead

Ethan : We thought you had left!

Bryce : Yeah we did, but I remembered I forgot my headphones inside so we went back.

Harper : I don't think it counts as a "walk of shame" but I once noticed love bi... erm marks. Ethan's marks on Meera.

Aurora : But y'all forgot how they escaped during Naveen's birthday party and Naveen refused to blow his candles without Ethan.

Sienna : Oh my God, yes! And I was calling repeatedly, but they were ofcourse too busy to answer.

Kevin : And then Meera couldn't walk straight when they returned.

Jackie : If you think like that all of the events count. I can't remember a single one where they haven't sneaked off.

A murmur of agreement goes around the table as everyone nods.

Meera : Well this is embarrassing.

Ethan (rolling his eyes) : Took you long enough to realise.

What was your reaction when you found out Meera was moving out to move in with Ethan?

Jackie : ABOUT DAMN TIME!

Aurora : True! She was practically already living there, without the formalities.

Sienna : I was extremely happy for her but a little sad that I would no longer be roomies with my fellow dolphin.

Meera : Aww! Si!

They hug.

Rafael : I was just very happy to finally be an official roommate.

Elijah : I was a little sad too as I was super close to beating her high score in Mario Cart, but Raf gives tough competition too.

Meera : Don't stop trying Elijah. Once you succeed, I'll make sure to come visit and set a new record, for you to break.

Who won the prediction pool about when Ethan would pop the question?

Tobias (in the cockiest tone) : Who else, other than the person who has known him the longest?

Bryce : Also his gym bud.

Ethan : For the last time Lahela, stop calling me that.

Bryce (clapping Ethan's back) : Whatever you say bud. But I do know you well.

Meera : Sienna had drawn herself out of the competition because she knew all about the plan.

Were you in the wedding party? What was your favorite part about the wedding?

Sienna : Yes. Raf, Harper and Aurora's guesses were within 6 months of the original date, whereas Jackie's guess was the next closest with a gap of a month and Kev and Elijah were way off.

Tobias : Well, being Ethan's best man was the best part.

Ethan : Really?

Tobias : Nah just kidding! The wedding favours were the best.

Sienna : I loved the whole planning process. Now that it's over it feels a little empty sometimes.

Meera : 15 hour shifts 6 days a week with all sorts of kids are not keeping you occupied?

Aurora : The bridesmaid squad with me, Jackie, Sienna, Kyra, Lina and Ritu was the best. I loved the dress shopping days.

Bryce : Well us groomsmen were lit as well. And what else do you expect when you have this fine specimen (pointing to himself), followed by Rafael and Elijah in the squad.

Elijah : I cried during the vows.

Harper : I loved the Indian wedding they had.

Rafael : True. So much colour and culture.

Jackie : Y'all forgot the real star. The food and the open bar.

For everyone, including Ethan x Meera :

Fuck/Marry/Kill : any three people in the room with you.

Harper : I'll take advantage of my seniority and sit out this round.

Tobias : Ahh bummer!

Harper : And I think Tobias, you should do that too.

Tobias : Oh come on.

Aurora : Fuck Kevin, marry Meera, kill Sienna

Bryce : Fuck Ethan, marry Meera, kill Jackie

Meera : Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. I can see a pattern here. Why is everyone trying to fuck my husband?

Ethan : And marry my wife?

Harper : Well Ethan, have you seen yourselves? Can you really blame them?

Meera and Ethan roll their eyes and shake their heads.

Meera : Fuck Tobias, marry Ethan and kill all of you for this.

Ethan (getting up) : Well I think we are done here.

Tobias : Not quite. We are still waiting for your answer, Ramsey.

Ethan : Absolutely not. I am not engaging in this juvenile monstrosity. Harper, help me out on this.

Harper : As much as I want to. I am much more intrigued to know your answer.

Ethan pinches the bridge of his nose.

Bryce : Let's make this interesting.

He grabs a beer from the table, uncorks it with his teeth and places it in front of Ethan.

Bryce (smirking) : A fair choice for you, Dr. Ramsey, either answer or drink this beer.

Elijah : Daaamnnn!

Aurora : The stakes just went high.

Ethan lets out a long exasperated sigh.

Ethan : Alright. (everyone quietens in anticipation) Kill Tobias and marry and sleep with my wife.

Jackie : But three people fro---

Ethan : Whether y'all like it or not, that's what I have done and will be doing for the rest of my life. (pulls Meera into a kiss)

Super super late to this, because of my stupid exam but now we are here so let's go! 💃🏽🏠

A/N : I am placing this two years and seven months after the wedding, because I HC Ethan and Meera staying at Ethan's apartment for two years after the wedding and they only start house hunting when they have the baby talk and start trying for a baby. So technically not newlyweds anymore. Now let's get started! ✨

Meera opens the door and greets Bree.

Meera : Hii Bree, welcome to our humble abode.

Bree (chuckles) : This place is anything but humble. I hope I am not causing much trouble.

Meera : Absolutely not. Who else is going to make me feel like a youtuber?

Both laugh, Ethan joins and greets Bree.

Bree : Congratulations on the good news Dr. Ramsey. How far are y'all?

Ethan : Thank you Bree. It's been 3 months already.

Meera (cradling her small bump) : Yup one trimester down two more to go.

Ethan (kissing her forehead) : And then there will be a mini version of you running around these halls.

Meera : Nope it's gonna be a mini you.

The couple shares a look as if challenging each other.

Meera : Fine, Bree, whose team are you on? Do you think it'll be a boy or a girl?

Bree : I am happy with either because at the end I'll be interviewing him or her too.

The three of them share a laugh.

Bree : Let's get started, shall we?

Ethan : Sure.

What does the outside of the home look like? (Front/back yard, garden, pool, etc)

Front :

Meera : We were looking for something modern yet chic, something that is totally us. I fell in love with the design whereas Ethan was in total awe of the open space and glass doors. Needless to say our heart was stuck on this no matter how many more houses we visited.

Backyard :

Ethan : The backyard also doubles up as the garden but it's not quite completed yet.

Meera : Yes it's been two months since we moved, and we haven't been able to work on the garden because of work and the pregnancy. Ethan : But we want to build a garden with a tree house and maybe some swings.

Meera (too excited) : Ohh swings! Yes please add it onto the list. Why didn't I think of it before?

Pool :

Meera : Definitely my favorite part!

Ethan : She is a water baby through and through so that's no surprise.

Meera : Don't act like you don't appreciate me in a swimsuit, Ramsey (winks)

Ethan : There is no denying that.

Living room and home office (if any)?

Living room :

Ethan : Meera was hell bent on having an L-shaped couch.

Meera : Those things are so bougie I had to have one because now I can finally afford one. But yeah the living room is so relaxing with a beautiful view of the outside.

Home office :

Meera : Honestly speaking, I do not understand the utility of a home office, I didn't understand back at his apartment neither do I understand now. If I am supposed to work from home I can do that on the couch or on my bed or even better on the daybeds by the pool.

Ethan (shaking his head) : You'll get it darling. When you start your maternity leave I'll see how you make zoom calls with the pool as your background.

Meera shrugs.

Kitchen and dining room?

Meera : This part was all Ethan so I'll let him do the talking.

Ethan (proudly) : A Poggenpohl kitchen with a granite-topped island adds an ultramodern touch. Glass shelves display colorful glassware convenient to the wet bar. A translucent sliding glass door below the shelves hides the more utilitarian gadgets. And finally playful mod pendant lights seem to levitate over the dining table, which is meant to resemble a river running through the woods.

Meera : You sure you didn't miss your true calling as an interior designer babe?

Ethan (smirks) : Nope, just the fact that I tend to excel at everything I do, Rookie.

Meera : And that makes you 10 times hotter!

Bedrooms? (Master, guest, others)

Master bedroom :

Meera : The bedroom has a different color scheme and tone from the rest of the house because I wanted it to stand out and break the monotone.

Ethan : Again the chandelier was Meera's opinion.

Meera : Finding common ground between his minimalistic taste and mine was difficult but we made it through.

Master Bathroom :

Ethan : Meera I don't think it was necessary to bring Bree in here.

Meera : It was absolutely necessary! Just look at this tub Bree! The bubbles and champagne dates we have here are a total hit.

Guest rooms :

Ethan : We have two guest rooms and both are styled the same way, but unfortunately we haven't had any guests yet.

Meera : Is it unfortunate Dr. Ramsey? Bryce is just a call away from crashing here.

Ethan (pinching the bridge of his nose) : Anyone but Lahela.

Meera : We haven't thought about the baby's room yet. But we have the nursery now.

Ethan : Yes, maybe we'll turn the nursery into a bedroom or one of the guest rooms in a few years. Let's see.

Nursery :

Meera : This was completed just yesterday hence the delay in the interview, Bree.

Ethan : We decided to keep the gender of the baby a surprise so we went with a gender neutral nursery that matches the colour scheme of the house.

Meera : Also because Ethan Ramsey would rather die than paint the walls of his house pink and blue.

Ethan (rolls eyes)

Other rooms?

Home library :

Meera (takes in the smell of books) : Better known as my safe haven.

Ethan : This was absolutely non-negotiable for Meera.

Meera : We both own a lot of books and the collection keeps on increasing now with the baby incoming. And look at this reading space. It's from my dreams.

Ethan : This is tucked away in a far corner of the house and is the most serene place around here. Once, I returned home from the hospital and called out to Meera a hundred times, she didn't answer, I started panicking and then found her silently sitting here in her own world.

Meera : If I ever go missing please check here before running to the police, because once I am in here I forget the existence of the world.

Bree picks up "Peppa pig's super noisy Sound Book" which was kept on a thick medical journal with a smile.

Ethan feels embarrassed but Meera laughs.

Meera : Yes these are the new ones in our collection. Ethan was reading it to the baby before you arrived.

Home Bar :

Ethan : The wine cellar grew into a home mini bar because we had this unused space left.

Meera : He loves showing this and his collection off.

Ethan : Excuse me! If I remember correctly your friends were very impressed as well.

Meera : True that. Bryce went bat shit crazy during the housewarming party. He said he felt he got back his bartending days.

Ethan (proudly) : And Jackie's exact words for that evening's toast was "to hell with Donahue's"

Meera : Yeah yeah, you did a great job honey. Also the more surfaces the better for us.

Ethan : Keep it PG for the love of God.

Meera (shrugs) : Pregnancy hormones.

Bree (points) : And that?

Ethan (facepalms) : The only thing that doesn't match with the vibe here.

Meera : Nonsense! It was a housewarming gift from my friends and I absolutely love it. Ethan just feels it is a cheaper and juvenile version of his favourite game, soccer. But don't worry Bree, I'll get him to play someday.

Ethan (smirk) : I would very much like to see you try Dr. Ramsey-Bose.

Meera : And I'll see how you say no when your son asks.

Ethan : It's gonna be a daughter.

Meera : We'll see.

Do you own your dream home? If not, what does that dream home look like?

Ethan : For the majority of my life home for me was a structure of bricks and cement with a ceiling but Meera was the one who brought all the love and light and showed me what a real home felt like. So for me, my home is where my heart is and for this lifetime it's kept safe with this gorgeous woman whom I fortunately call my wife.

Silence lasts for a couple of minutes then Meera snorts.

Meera (drying her eye) : Damn you pregnancy hormones, I am not even wearing waterproof mascara. It was super cheesy Ethan, a non pregnant me would have definitely called you out on your cheese but this pregnant Meera has to agree with you. Even a stable is my dream home if I have my dream husband with me. (she kisses Ethan) but I wouldn't mind a Jacuzzi, a home theatre, a game room (laughing)

Ethan (an easy smile on his face) : Always knew you were in it because of the money Bose.

What is your favorite room to spend time in with each other?

Meera : The library. Just him reading to our unborn child like he isn't already the most perfect man in the world.

Ethan (a very satisfied smile on his face) : First I am very surprised that you kept it PG. So the obvious answer is the bedroom but other than that, the patio, which is not a room though.

Ethan : Meera has a slight deficiency in vitamin D so to avoid complications, we spend a lot of time here in the sun. We play board games, read and even discuss work here sometimes.

Meera : Ooh yes! This was another great investment and a great way to utilise the humongous outdoor space we have.

Ethan : I hope you had fun Bree. Thank you so much for doing this.
