i dont know why i clicked on a video breaking down all the body-language reading bullshit when i know itll piss me off, and ill click off before it finishes so i dont break something.
#kai rambles#why did i do that#genuinely#i just made myself angry#anyway body language analysis is a pseudoscience that hinges on multiple forms of bigotry often primarily ableism racism sexism and classism#reptile brain is a pop psychology term used to refer to your limbic system#(it relates to a disproven evolutionary theory)#the whole thing is almost entirely just confirmation bias#and while im angry about pop psychology#psycopathy is a stupid concept that a large amount of psychologists do not use anymore#further the dark triad model can go fuck itself and i dont know why any self respecting psychologist would still use it#deception detection will likely never be a valid thing#polygraphs dont work#body language analysis also doesnt work#i know theres some work being done regarding brain scans being used in place of a polygraph but im sceptical on that too#we dont have a set part of our brain that only lights up while lying#rather youre likely to see more frontal lobe activity than you would typically if someone was simply recalling an event#but your frontal lobe does a lot more than just lying#also even if we did have a deception area that wouldnt tell you what theyre lying about or why#plus theres not even really an agreed upon definition of lying or deception#like if someone is expecting you to lie to them and you know that theyre expecting you to and then you lie to them is that deception?#theres a great essay i read on deception last year
