Day 2: Yokai | Festivals | Samurai
@hashimada-week
Madara the kasha and Hashirama Senju's ninmenju.
Some kasha "[...] were depicted as hairy cat-like creature with long wing-like ears, smooth stomache and long claws." [x]
"The waq waq tree of Islamic folklore is very similar to the ninmenju. This tree was described as bearing fruit shaped like humans and animals. The fruit could speak, but would die a few days after being picked." [x]
A two-fer! Originally, I was originally only going to draw the right but drawing Kasha!Madara to go with it just seemed like too much fun to let go. But then the ninmenju tree turned into a much bigger project than I had planned for so I'm still working on that now. (*꒦ິ꒳꒦ີ) I'll be back with the completed tree later~
My thoughts/lore under the cut.
I got inspired to make Mads a kasha because a) he's got cat causing problems vibes and b) because of one of the later prompts for Hashimada week, 'katon', so I was very happy to make him a fire breathing demon cat that steals corpses, tying him once again with the theme of death as he spins his scythe in his humanoid form. Instead of taking corpses/souls to hell, instead, the fresher human corpses are the only substance his kind can feed on and this time he's taken Hashirama's recently deceased brother, Itama.
In Hashirama's attempt to retrieve his kin's body, their battle comes to a stalemate, so instead Hashirama offers a trade. In return for his brother's body and if Madara gives his word that he stops his thieving ways, he can feed instead on his own flesh in the form of the fruit from his ninmenju tree for as long as his immortal tree stands. The fruit from this tree had Hashirama's face, green leaf colored hair, yellow eyes and a fatuous voice. The fruit is sweet, savory, and a touch sour, like peaches and pork, far more flavorful then the human flesh Madara was accostumed to, and Madara is surprised by Hashirama's honesty and generosity. He is appeased by the offer and shrewdly accepts. Forced to see each other more and more they go from foes, to rivals, to friends and eventually more.
Thank you for reading! As my thanks, here's another nice video about folkloric trees!

Favorite History Books || Baldwin I of Jerusalem, 1100–1118 by Susan B. Edgington ★★★★☆
Baldwin of Boulogne was a crusader who became the first Latin count of Edessa and then the first Latin king of Jerusalem, a realm that he ruled for almost eighteen years. These would be outstanding achievements for any man, but for someone who was the youngest of three brothers and whose prospects at birth and as a youth were correspondingly modest, they suggest extraordinary strength of character as well as a modicum of good fortune. The balance between these assets will emerge from an investigation of his life and rule. Inevitably, however, the enquiry must begin with Baldwin’s background and early years, a period for which the documentary sources are sparse and sometimes contradictory. A fair amount of what follows, therefore, is necessarily conjectural. … King Baldwin I’s reign started as it began, with a succession dispute. Nevertheless, the intervening period, something short of eighteen years, had ensured that there was a kingdom to dispute and to inherit. Baldwin’s reputation has suffered by comparison with his brother Godfrey, who was remembered as a valiant crusader and a saintly character for centuries afterwards. Baldwin’s crusade had lacked the necessary consummation, for he was absent from the siege of Jerusalem in 1099. Yet despite Godfrey’s virtues, it was fortunate for Jerusalem that he died after only a year of ruling the infant kingdom of Jerusalem. His successor was singleminded in appropriating the kingship because he knew it was needed to defend and expand the realm, and he was effective in organising its limited resources to the same end. Insofar as his character emerges from the often conflicting accounts of his life and reign, he was neither a ‘nice’ man nor a good husband, but this is beside the point. Hans Eberhard Mayer observed, ‘C’était un homme politique avisé, à l’âme calculatrice, sans scrupules, violent, poursuivant froidement ses intérêts et qui dirigeait ses vassaux d’une main de fer.’ These were precisely the ruthless qualities needed to establish and preserve the kingdom of Jerusalem. Over a century ago, W. B. Stevenson summed up Baldwin’s achievements in a paragraph that deserves to be better known: in brief, Stevenson recognised Baldwin’s effective use of his scant resources, his personal courage and military expertise, his establishing a stable government. In addition, ‘it was his determination and, indeed, his high-handed treatment of opponents that shattered the project of an ecclesiastical or papal state in Palestine’. It is doubtful that such a state could have survived for any length of time at all. It is impossible to say what drove Baldwin, whether personal ambition, dynastic loyalty or even crusading piety, but for the Latin kingdom of Jerusalem he was indubitably the right man at the right time.

Inazuma Eleven Champions League
For those who don't have/don't use Xitter much, there is quite a promiment modding community in regards to Inazuma, with the Great Road mod being the most well known (And with a reason, since they've managed to combine GO + AreOri + extras in the IE3 ROM). As a way to promote itself, the main account has been hosting a simulated Champions League tournament, with both original and mod-exclusive characters filling the well known european teams.
youtube
I cannot describe enough how incredibly well this project has been handled so far, and I really want to give a shotuout to both the organizers as well as the whole modding team for their efforts. I'll leave their YT channel + Xitter account below!
https://twitter.com/IEGreatRoadMod
At the time I'm queueing this, the last Round 2 match has ended and we'll be into the final now, meaning we'll have some proper eliminations soon enough. That being said, before that happens I'd love to dedicate at least one post to this project.
Obviously with the focus being european teams there's found to be some Euro B characters here and there, sometimes having relevance for the better or the worst. I'll use this post to share my favorite moments of these first rounds so far - alongisde linking the original videos/matches.

I've never seen this keeper losing animation before, AND I ADORE IT ASKDÑKAFSDÑF. IT GOES SO WELL WITH FER!!! ♥️♥️♥️♥️
Though if you are a Fermín fan like me, I don't recommend watching the match at all; the whole thing felt like this:

Inspired by recent events, Kidou decided to teach Rafa how to fly like a superhero (?)
Tumblr media
Here's Mikel on Porto ò_ó I love seeing him there!!! It does give me validation to my "Mikel is part portuguese" headcanon LMFAO
Tumblr media
He also got to shoot, and even if he failed (And was partially mocked by the live chat) I'm still proud of him 💔
Tumblr media
Seeing Mikel and Rafael oppose each other is painful, too..........
If Real Madrid and Porto ever get a VS then idk what will be of me. I will be watching a real life divorce unfold or smth
-
Manchester City vs Borussia Dortmund
Tumblr media
YEET
Tumblr media Tumblr media
...Yeah, no way Ern lived after this. (Also wtf Jan betraying your former teammate)

No context for this but it also goes HARD. It's the power of the kartoffelsalat for me 🫡
I'm sure there's more moments with EB out there, but... I don't remember. Watch the matches by yourself, and tell me what you find, okay? ~

Clostridium Difficile Infection Treatment Market Size, Trends, Growth Scenario and Analysis by 2034
The global Clostridium difficile infection treatment market (クロストリジウム・ディフィシル感染症治療市場) is projected to achieve a size of US$ 1.24 billion by the conclusion of 2024, surging further to US$ 2.28 billion by the conclusion of 2034. This growth trajectory reflects a robust Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6.3% spanning the period from 2024 to 2034.
Several factors are propelling this market expansion. These include the escalating prevalence of Clostridium difficile infection (CDI), intensified research and development endeavors, enhancements in available treatment modalities, and an increasing recognition of the importance of early detection and intervention.

Clostridium difficile infection (CDI) remains a significant healthcare concern worldwide, presenting challenges in patient management and infection control. As the incidence of CDI continues to rise, the demand for effective treatment options is escalating, creating both challenges and opportunities within the Clostridium difficile infection treatment market.
Challenges in CDI Treatment:
One of the foremost challenges in treating CDI is the growing prevalence of antibiotic resistance among C. difficile strains. Traditional antibiotic therapies, such as metronidazole and vancomycin, have been the cornerstone of CDI treatment for decades. However, the emergence of resistant strains has diminished their efficacy, necessitating the exploration of alternative treatment modalities.
Moreover, recurrent CDI poses a persistent challenge, with a substantial proportion of patients experiencing multiple episodes of infection. Recurrence not only contributes to patient morbidity but also imposes a considerable economic burden on healthcare systems due to prolonged hospital stays and additional treatment costs.
Opportunities for Innovation:
Amidst these challenges, there are notable opportunities for innovation within the Clostridium difficile infection treatment market. One promising avenue is the development of novel therapeutics targeting C. difficile virulence factors, such as toxins and spore formation mechanisms. By disrupting key pathogenic processes, these next-generation therapies aim to achieve superior efficacy while minimizing the risk of resistance development.
Furthermore, the advent of fecal microbiota transplantation (FMT) has revolutionized the management of recurrent CDI. FMT involves the transfer of healthy donor fecal matter into the gastrointestinal tract of CDI patients, restoring microbial diversity and functionality. This approach has demonstrated remarkable success rates in resolving recurrent CDI, paving the way for its integration into mainstream clinical practice.
Additionally, advancements in diagnostic technologies are facilitating early detection and intervention in CDI cases. Rapid molecular assays and point-of-care testing enable timely identification of C. difficile infection, enabling prompt initiation of appropriate treatment and containment measures to prevent transmission within healthcare settings.

Navigating Lafontaine Tunnel Closure: Your Essential Guide
Tumblr media
The tunnel Lafontaine, which connects Montreal and Longueuil across the Saint Lawrence River, is undergoing a significant renovation project until November 2025. The project aims to improve the tunnel's safety, functionality, and durability and reduce its environmental impact. The project involves replacing the tunnel's electrical, mechanical, and ventilation systems and repairing and reinforcing its concrete structure. So, The project also includes upgrading the tunnel's lighting, signage, fire protection, and drainage systems. The project will have a substantial impact on traffic and transportation in the region since three of the tunnel's six lanes will be blocked for the length of the construction. This means that only one lane will be available for drivers going to the South Shore and two routes for drivers going to Montreal.
What Are Your Options?
The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility (MTMDET) and the City of Montreal has advised commuters to devise a "plan B" to avoid or minimize the congestion caused by the closure. Lópaki - An Italic Space Creole
This is a new conlang for a worldbuilding project that’s been in my head for years! Lópaki is an analytic creole spoken in some of the outlying star systems of the Orion–Cygnus Arm. It is an Italic-based language that emerged from contact between Italic and Canaanite peoples who were taken from Earth and enslaved by the Gwat Níir (more on them in a later post). Although much of its vocabulary derives from Proto-Italic, it has a grammar with a noticeable Semitic influence. Given that it diverged from the other Italic languages over 3000 years ago, it is not mutually intelligible with any known language on Earth.
Phonology and Orthography
In universe, the Latin script is not used to write Lópaki, as its speakers are completely unfamiliar with it. It is instead written in the Standard Script commonly used throughout the Orion–Cygnus Arm, which I will touch upon in a later post. For our convenience, I have created a system for transcribing Lópaki in Latin letters.
/m n ɲ/ <m n gn>
/p b t d k g ʔ/ <p b t d c~ch g~gh '>
/t͡s d͡z t͡ʃ d͡ʒ/ <tz z q j>
/f s ʃ x h/ <f s x kh h>
/r l j w/ <r l y~i v~u>
/i u e o ɛ ɔ a/ <i u e o é ó a>
/ei oi ai eu ou au ia ua/ <ei oi ai eu ou au ia ua>
Glottal stops are never written initially because any word without an initial consonant will start with one by default. This is a phonological quirk shared with Arabic, where every word must start with a consonant. An example is the word agru “field” which is pronounced /ʔagru/.
Pronouns
The personal pronouns of Lópaki are mainly derived from Proto-Italic, with the exceptions of the third person pronouns which have a distinct Canaanite origin. Like many Semitic languages, each pronoun exhibits an independent and enclitic variant, shown below.
Singular:
1st: mei / me
2nd masc: tu / te
2nd fem: tua / ta
3rd masc: hua / ho
3rd fem: hia / he
Plural:
1st: nous / nu
2nd: bous / bu
3rd: huna / hu
The “enclitic” forms of pronouns can be placed after an object to indicate possession. For example, one could say fadra hu “their story”.
Nouns
Nouns only decline for number, and they do so in 4 different ways depending on the ending sounds of a noun. See below:
Any nouns that end in a consonant suffix -a when plural. This is a vestige of Proto-Italic best seen in the noun snib “snow” > sniba “snows”
Nouns that end in -a or -i simply add an -s when plural. For example, manti “mind” > mantis “minds”
All other nouns end in -u and form the plural more irregularly. This is another feature passed down from Proto-Italic, and is best seen in the previously mentioned agru “field”, which becomes agroi “fields”.
Verbs
Verbs in Lópaki are relatively simple, only conjugating for tense and mood. There are only two types of verbs, which are deemed a-stem and i-stem verbs. Examples of both are shown below:
ferri “to bear”
Ind. Past/Present: ferba/fer
Subj. Past/Present: feraba/fera
canari “to sing”
Ind. Past/Present: canaba/cana
Subj. Past/Present: canba/can
Since Lópaki employs a VSO word order, this means that person is shown by appending the enclitic forms of pronouns to the end of a verb. To demonstrate this, here is an example sentence:
Chédba me ho. “I cut him” < The verb used here is cognate with Latin caedere “to cut, hew, fell”
Lópaki also has three prepositions used for the sole purpose of indicating verbal aspects. They are the perfective, conditional, and perfective conditional particles. Here is an example sentence with each.
Ai me fialu. “I go alone.”
Au ai me fialu. “I have gone alone.”
Ol ai me fialu “I would go alone.”
Olau ai me fialu. “I would have gone alone.”
Irregular Verbs
There are only three irregular verbs, which are shown below. They are all derived from Proto-Italic.
essi “to be”
Ind. Past/Present: era/is
Subj. Past/Present: ere/sei
khari “to do”
Ind. Past/Present: khéba/khak
Subj. Past/Present: khaiba/khé
iri “to go”
