i stg if i hear someone use the word “latinx” one more time i am going to LOSE IT
#IT’S ALREADY FUCKING GENDER NEUTRAL#i take no issue with latino people individually deciding they want to use that term to describe themselves. that’s their choice.#but using it as a blanket replacement for ‘latino’ despite the latino community (including trans latinos!) vocally saying ‘no we hate this’#do people not see how fucked up that is?#they could even say ‘latino/latinx’ if they still wanted to be performatively inclusive (🙄)#but. especially referring to the community as a group. LATINO IS ALREADY GENDER INCLUSIVE#what the term ‘latinx’ says to me is not ‘i’m an inclusive and accepting individual’#it says ‘i’m performative in my support and don’t care about actual latino people’#it’s like when someone calls a black person ‘african american’ instead of black. it’s a red flag.#so the fact that it’s becoming increasingly used as a blanket replacement for ‘latino’ is fucking disgusting.#idk based on my previous experiences with social media#people will just reply to this post saying ‘but you’re white’ instead of actually having a discussion about the topic at hand#and what i have to say to that is: did you fucking listen to actual latino people about this issue? obviously not!#probably gonna delete this later. i’d usually not even make a big fuss about something like this i’m just. hormonal rn.#but god fucking damn it#my post
