*SECRET INVASION FINALE SPOILERS*
I just finished Home, and I have some thoughts:
Rhodey was in a hospital gown when he got out of the pod! I swear to all that is holy, if they have him been replaced by a skrull after his injury in Civil War, I will march on Disney headquarters! That would cheapen Tony's death, funeral, and Rhodey's amazing conversation with Sam in Falcon and the Winter Soldier. I said I'd freak out if they made the swap previous to FATWS, and I meant it!
Gravik's human face was a man he killed, so I'm assuming the same is true for G'iah. If she is indeed going to be Abigail Brand as leaks have suggested (meaning Abigail Brand is dead), I'm going to be mad! Like legitimately disappointed. Brand is one of my favorite parts of the Astonishing X-Men comics run. I ship her and Beast so hard.
When was Everett Ross swapped? It has to have been after Black Panther because he would've reverted to his skrull form after being shot and/or Shuri would've noticed while healing him. Has a skrull infiltrated Wakandan leadership?! How many? For how long? Because that's BAD. Imagine the havoc skrulls could wreak with Wakanda's resources.
The CGI in this was pretty good. Especially compared to other recent Disney+ titles. That being said, I hate a lot of how they used it. Giving G'iah a huge Drax arm?! Bad choices in multiple ways: A.) the big Drax arm looked so weird as did other things. B.) do they think Marvel fans are too stupid to get what they were doing if they didn't make her arm huge? They should've kept Emilia's arm the same size, only given her Drax's tattoos and skin color at most. We would've understood. C.) the clothing changed too! How does that make sense?
Is Gravik really dead, though? Is Raava? We don't know if Raava has super skrull powers, but Gravik had like EVERYTHING. That seems like it should make him pretty invincible.
How did people not clock how off Rhodey was? There was like an enormous change in his personality. Raava was a jerk!
So, Fury and Sonya only tranqed those secret service members at the hospital. That wouldn't automatically make them revert, right, or every skrull would be outed when they fell asleep. If all those guards were humans, they were legitimately the worst security detail ever. That one guy literally listened to SkrullRhodey pretty much out herself and did nothing. He didn't even warn the president Rhodey was acting uncharacteristically. Every member of White House personale will have to be tested somehow. Maybe check for purple blood?
I really thought Ritson would die at the end. I guess he's just awful (which is unsurprising). I'm glad he won't be president much longer, as Harrison Ford is taking over the role of President Thaddeus Ross in Captain America: Brave New World. That being said, part of me worries that President Ross might be even worse than Ritson.
I kind of loved Varra and Fury's ending. It redeemed the awful, "I guess we'll never know moment."
****EDIT:**** I didn't think about this at the time, but I saw someone else bring it up. G'iah has Captain Marvel powers now! Doesn't that mean she should be caught up in the entanglement mess Captain Marvel, Photon, and Miss Marvel are dealing with in The Marvels?! That's an ENORMOUS plot hole. Not to mention, G'iah is ridiculously overpowered now. People complain about how powerful Superman is, and G'iah is so much worse.
I enjoyed Secret Invasion, even if it wasn't the best Disney+ show. The comics are still WAY better. Regardless, I'm looking forward to The Marvels even more now.

I have so many thoughts on today's episode. ⚠️SPOILERS⚠️
Gravik is a maniac. The fuck he just wants to achieve at this point? It's not a Scrull homeland or human extinction now. He's just fulfilling his own skewed agenda which nobody seems to follow. An attempt on his life was expected.
Varra was a badass this episode. And the way she loves Fury, it's so tragic and soft at the same time.
And ScRhodey this episode was a pain and I want to finish him off.
I LOVE HOW EVERYTIME I SEE SONYA FALSWORTH, I'M JUST SO DELIGHTED.HER PRESENCE IS SO POWERFUL AND THREATENING. YET IT IS PEAK COMEDY.
ALSO,MY BELOVED TALOS 😭😭😭 HIS FUNERAL 😭😭😭AND G'IAH'S OFFERING 😭😭😭 HE WAS THE GENERAL, HE'LL ALWAYS BE THE GENERAL.
Also, the cliffhanger. Who the fuck did Fury call? Ross? Wakanda? Is Maria Hill still alive? WHO IS IT?

Not people calling Fury's wife abusive after she is extremely justified in her anger for what Fury did post blip , just so y'all can ship him with Talos 💀
Istg this fandom is always bitching about how "the MCU treats female characters like shit" But turn around and bash female characters the second they get in the way of their mlm ship.
"We love and respect women until they get in the way of my ship, then they're all manipulative, gaslighting and abusive bitches" — the MCU fandom.

Secret Invasion, Episode 2
Now I'm suspicious of everyone. When Nick Fury showed up to talk to Maria Hill's mom I was like, "How'd he get there so fast? That's not him."
I don't know why I think this. But I do think there are still Nick Fury Skrulls out there. Gravik, obviously, can shift into Fury and probably was asked to do so in the past like Talos has.
Last week a lot of people were suggesting Gravik could be Nick Fury's son. And this week we find out that's not the case--that he came to Earth when he was young. But I do think Nick really influenced him.
At the end of the episode I think they are trying to make the audience think that Nick Fury doesn't know his wife his a Skrull but I do think he has always known. She was in the opening scene with Gravik. At least that is the same actress with green makeup on.
Now, I don't know for sure that Skrulls and Humans can mate and produce offspring. In fact, I doubt Nick Fury would even if he could. But it did get me wondering about Beto, the young Skrull who is hanging around Gravik and G'iah.
I'd love it if he were reporting back to Priscilla Fury.
RANDOM: When they placed the US Flag over Maria Hill's coffin did anyone else shout, "She's Canadian, bitch!"
Tumblr media
It seemed disrespectful to me.
RANDOM 2: Rhodey mentions learning about Skrulls about 15 years ago. That would've been about when Cheadle replaced Howard. After Iron Man 1. It'd be so funny if that was when Rhodes was turned into a Skrull. It'd be easy to remember. If it was Cheadle, he was a Skrull (not convinced he's a bad Skrull necessarily) and Howard he was a human.
Anyway.

Secret Invasion of Actors!
I know it is more fashionable to attack Disney, but I'm finding the writing and acting in Secret Invasion top notch, especially Samuel L. Jackson, Don Cheadle, and Charlayne Woodard.
Charlayne Woodard's conflict is low-key, but it's always present. As one of the new characters, she's the one I'm the most interested in.
Don Cheadle gives us just enough falseness in his acting choices to tell us about the character he's playing without giving anything away.
And Samuel L. Jackson. The emotion turmoil that he brings to what many would call a morally gray character is refreshing on every level. Finally, a story states you don't get to be a ruthless schemer and then be able to shrug off the consequences of being a ruthless schemer with a soulless, funny quip. Nick Fury has funny quips, but the audience is never allowed to forget that his life consists of using people for the greater good, and that means you can never really be with people.
I just felt someone should point this out.

A new chapter for my Secret Invasion Maria Hill Focused Re-write is now posted on AO3!
Chapter 19: You Won't Even Notice
summary: Paranoia runs high as Maria and Raava try to out scheme each other. Fury has an unexpected encounter. Gravik gets the assurance he needs to move forward.
Writing this is how I am fighting depression and ngl it seems like it is working. I love everyone's comments, reblogs, and kudos on this story. Thank you so much for them!
P.S. I have no idea what compelled me to get an AI rendering of this moment from this chapter. It just seemed so funny to me? I tried to get Rhodey in them but it wasn't working out.

*SECRET INVASION EPISODE 4 SPOILERS!*
I just finished the episode and I have thoughts and questions:
Why was this episode so short? It was like, what, 30-ish minutes?!
Was that freakin' Veranke masquerading as Rhodey?! I'll lose my mind if it is. I mean that in a good way.
I called the G'iah thing. I think we all knew she wouldn't die. As if Marvel would waste Emilia Clarke like that.
Why did Priscilla have to make that huge journey to get that gun? She's a spy. She's Fury's wife. She's a shape-shifter for crying out loud. Surely, she didn't have to access a specific gun from a safe deposit box.
Fury walking away and saying, "We'll never know," when Priscilla asked if he would still have loved her if she hadn't changed was awful. I was furious with him for that.
I fully gasped at the end. I kind of expected it going into this show, though I hoped I would be wrong. I love Talos. I was hardcore shipping Talos and Fury last episode, and after Fury and Priscilla's "falling out" this episode, I was even more invested in Talos x Fury. I know Disney/Marvel NEVER would've made them canon, but I still feel robbed of seeing them together more.
I'm honestly not sure how Talos' death will affect G'iah. Part of me thinks it will drive her further down Gravik's rabbit hole of death-to-all-humans because Talos died trying to save a human president. Another part thinks that because Gravik was the one to kill her father (and possibly mother), it'll make it so she can't bring herself to work with him anymore. I can see that, plus maybe interacting with President Ritson and learning her father's mission was a better route (though it's still an incredibly stupid and naïve plan) could bring her to change. That being said, I'll remain suspicious of her.
I'm still worried about the health of humans in the fracking pods because of the radiation (especially Rhodey).
If we don't learn when Rhodey was replaced by the end of this, I'm going to be mad.
