New favorite thing is the fact that Raine Whispers was canonically a teacher because they would totally be the one teacher that the "problem kids" flock to (and you can’t convince me that’s not how they started the BATTs)

Raine, opening their door: It's three in the morning.

Amber: Yeah, I got kicked out. Can I crash here? Raine: What did you- get in here, it's going to start raining. What did you do?

Amber, ducking under their arm: I told my aunt and uncle I didn't want to join the Emperor's Coven and they ignored me and filed an application anyways. I found it before they sent it and burned it.

Raine: *sighs* Look, I get it, but you've gotta find a better method of destroying things than fire.

Amber: Why? Doesn't leave a trace. Raine: Yes, but it's much easier for it to get out of control and for you to get hurt. If you really need to destroy a document like that, mix bleach and water and- wait, why am I telling you this?

Raine, walking into their kitchen: Good morning.

Amber, who’s decidedly not a morning person: Bluh.

Derwin: Morning.

Raine: *pauses* You…do not live here.

Derwin: My parents don’t care. Besides, I’m of age, I can live wherever I want.

Raine: And neither of you thought to ask me?

Amber: You weren’t gonna say no.

Raine: …fair. Derwin, would you like coffee? And no, Amber, you may not have some. You don’t need caffeine.

*Raine’s working when their crow rings*

Raine: Hello?

Katya: Heyyyy, Mx Whispers. I kinda got arrested and then broken out of prison? Can you come pick me up?

Raine: You what now? Wait, why are you calling *me*?

Katya: Well, it was either call you or the school social worker, so…

Raine: *sighs* I’ll be there in ten minutes.

*I headcanon the BATTs to all be from some kind of troubled home or having come off the streets for many reasons, lol
