Mina had been in all kinds of hugs lately.
Tense ones, intimate ones, friendly ones, uncomfortable ones. This one...was in a league of its own. Something different. Something imagined, like a dream, but never realized. Silly and light-hearted as the embrace was, it made the witch’s eyes misty with its weight and warmth. The constant drumming in her chest heightened to the point of threatening the cage that held it within her.
Was this what it felt like to find a sister in another?
“Now. About that gossip...”

Look, it's hard to do badass power poses with your buddies when you're under five feet tall. Concessions must be made.

Endwalker will forever be my favorite expansion for finally letting me work in a cute academy café. This is literally what my Miqo came to Eorzea to do in the first place.

Honestly, something I always find FFXIV does right where every other game on the market falls short is making their setting a nice place to live in. It pays attention to the small details and ensures the player not only feels attached, but genuinely contributing and appreciated within the setting.
Really, ask yourself; what other game have you ever heard of that will let you perform a piano duet in a small orchestral concert, just for the enjoyment of doing so?

Man, you don’t know the half of it. FFXIV’s story just kicks my poor cat daughter in her adorable kitty fangs so many times that it’s nice to finally have an expansion end on such a hopeful note. I don’t want to get into spoilers for folk who haven’t gotten the chance to finish yet, but the ending is just what I needed, especially after what happened in the first half of Shadowbringers.
Portia’s overall canon story along with player-based embellishments to the FFXIV plot is fairly tragic with some real character-defining moments of loss. But the enduring concepts of hope, found family, and self-improvement really carry in the end.
