Breaking news! 🐟 we have berries! In the first pic is the big mama, that’s the best I could get of her. ALSO I’ve seen at least two teeny tiny platy fry. Idk what I’m gonna do with them if they make it. They’re not in the photos btw, super good at hiding.
Keeping livebearers is all fun and games until you realize you're too soft to cull any. I started with like 5 of them and now I have nearly 30(with more on the way!!!) D: anyway here's a picture of tidepod idk if I've shared any on here
He's actually gotten even more orange since I took this... Probably one of my prettiest guys
I finally got around to cleaning up this tank a bit, it had recently gotten a big algae breakout since it gets a lot of direct sunlight as well as having a pretty strong light, and I’m really happy with how it’s looking now! I had to take out all the dwarf sag (it filled up an entire bucket) and only put back in a bit cause it was getting all over the place and choking out the hygrophila lancea, which will hopefully be able to recover.
It can also be called shortsword platy, as the typical "swords" that male swordtails tend to sport are only very small in this species, barely one millimeter. The males do not court females, and a study has found that apparently, the females of the species find males of a relative species, Montezuma swordtail, more attractive.
Do you have any fish that you dream about one day getting? For me it’s ropefish, gimme those lil snakes
ROPEFISH 🥺🥺🥺 MY LOVES...
i would die for a ropefish.... in the same vein the only monster fish that I've ever put in a heart shaped locket is a birchir. they're even among the smaller monster fish so they're not THAT unattainable, i say, foolishly, longingly (and before anyone gets irresponsible ideas when i say "smaller" i mean 1-2 feet minimum lol, still a monster)
then ever since having my kribs and seeing how cool and intelligent they are, the dream cichlid is a blood parrot AND I KNOW, THEY'RE ASSHOLES, but looooook at itttt.......wawer puppy.... I'd want one in its own big tank as a wet pet
but those are the highly unlikely gets, the top of my realistic wishlist is pretty stereotypical: pea puffers 🥹
they're a perfect mix of attainable + new challenge + omg omg omg cuuuute!!!!!!! it's honestly puffers in general that i desperately wanna try, large puffers are equally adorable to me... if I'm at an aquarium they're my number 2 after arapaima, i could watch a big puffer toot around for hours. they're so visibly intelligent it's amazing!
