19 and platonic Percleth for the It's Spring Writing Prompts !!

I’ll be honest Anon my eyes glossed over the word platonic for a second and I gave this ask the biggest side eye in existence till I reread it and saw it says platonic. XD You are feeding me Anon, I freakin LOVE writing these two being the bestest of best friends! You also did not specify au or not so we going college au~ It’s Spring prompt list 19: being extremely energetic

With the coming of spring comes the return of Percy and Keyleth random night drives. Percy can practically feel Keyleths excitement, it’s been so long since they’ve done an all nighter drive. This is also their first time doing one of these types of drives in a city, Percy double checks their bags to make sure they packed everything. Can’t do an all nighter drive without good drinks and snacks. “So if I recall right, we are staying in the city proper till 11 then we are going to the outskirts till what 4 in the morning?” He calls to Keyleth, who has been messing around getting the blanket bag packed for the past few minutes. “Yup! As excited as I am about driving around the city, we won’t be able to see the stars here.” She says walking into the living room, practically bouncing with each step. With a nod Percy hurriedly grabs his keys and the food bags, he can feel his skin vibrating with excitement, a grin pulling at his lips. He and Keyleth hurry for the door practically fighting with each other to open the door, causing the pair to burst out into childish giggles. Once the door is open it’s like a race track, the two of them out like a shot, running down the stairs barely able to keep their bags from spilling. They're more than likely going to get a sound complaint once they get due to their thudding footsteps and boisterous laughter. In record time they make it to Percy’s car, they rush in and start to get situated. Car roof down. Snack, drink, and blanket bags tucked under the seats so they don’t fly away. As Percy turns the car on and buckles himself in he feels a light tapping on his shoulder. Looking at Keyleth he couldn’t help but let out a laugh to go along with his bright smile. Keyleth has between her fingers the first ever 80’s music mix tape they ever put together, she chuckles and quickly puts the tape in. Soon enough they are peeling out of the parking lot, blasting old 80’s pop and howling with laughter into the night. Tonight will be a great night.

one of the interesting and intriguing things, for me, is that Keyleth straight away comes across as immensely powerful. But she messes up with her magic, almost like she doesn't have a good handle on it. Like, she has to learn to harness her powers, and be confident with them, or something.

And, honestly, wth her screwing up and then beating herself up, it makes sense that she might then psyche herself out even more when she goes to use her powers the next time. And then she messes up (or gets yelled at), so she's even more worried next time, etc.

then on the flip side, with Percy being quiet and nondescript for two full epsiodes but then unleashing a wicked ruthlessness because he was incensed... and not seeming remotely sorry for it. He knows what he's capable of and he's okay with that. Perhaps... maybe... too okay with that? Depending on who you ask, lol.

I think their dynamic could/will be interesting. I think what appeals to me is, from these few interactions alone, you can really see a lot of potential for them to grow together and balance each other.

Keyleth needs to learn to own her power and use it when it's needed, whereas Percy might benefit from learning when to restrain himself. If they learn and grow together, it could be quite the beautiful thing.

Almost immediately. They were making comment cards together in episode one and I thought that was adorable. Percy didn’t have a ton going for him in the Underdark arc but I loved his friendship with Keyleth and the fact that he was the Technology Guy and she was the Nature Girl.

Then there was the stuff with Vex later and I could see the early flirting but I was still on board with Percleth over that and then the Vaxleth stuff happened and I was REALLY not on with that so I was just sitting there glaring at the screen.

my thoughts:

WE COULD HAVE HAD IT AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAALL

No but seriously, they’re so good and I loved them and I still love them. Buuuuuut - I started watching this show right around when the Conclave arc started?  I caught up and watched the Kill Box as my first live episode (lol ikr?) but I like reading spoilers ahead of where I’m watching bc to me seeing how they get there is more important than knowing what the destination is, right? So I knew Vaxleth happened long before I was like ‘aw yeah, I ship percleth’ so I always shipped it in a low key “man I wish” kind of way. That’s why I can also ship Perc’ahlia so easily - I was never set on Percleth being canon.

What makes me happy about them:

They’re both people who struggle to just… be around other people. They’re reticent and untrusting with everyone they meet. But around each other they’re just puppies falling all over each other. They love each other so fucking much and even when they fight and disagree, they still care and respect the other person’s beliefs.

And I confess, a lot of it is tied up in the way Taliesin and Marisha are constant cuddle buddies. How can I not?

What makes me sad about them:

They’re not canon and never well be :(

Also the whole part where Percy has the shortest lifespan out of all of them, other than Grog, and Keyleth has the longest.

Things done in fanfic that annoys me:

This would require there being Percleth fanfic. Most of the Percleth fanfic on AO3 was written by me so I guess that’s something that annoys me?

Things I look for in fanfic:

Literally anything, I swear to god. But I guess I headcanon them as having a playful, friends with benefits sexual relationship before Vaxleth and Perc’ahlia happen? Emphasis on the friends part, they’d never want to jeopardize that, but just a sort of “hey, you’re a virgin? great, me too, let’s try this out since we fully trust each other.”

My kinks:

Not much? At least initially I think they’d be very vanilla with each other. Loss of virginity is a kink that probably counts.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other:

I’m obviously fine with Perc’ahlia and, to a lesser extent, Vaxleth.

My happily ever after for them:

There was never a happily ever after for them. Even if they did get together, Keyleth was always going to outlive him ten times over. My poor, poor babies.
