#piltover left but the chembarons just filled the vacuum and nothing changed
Text
Man the instant you notice just how heavily Silco imitates Piltover despite hating them you just don’t stop noticing. He dresses like them. He has an office where Vander had a bar. He runs a company with factories. He has his own enforcers. He poisons Zaun with shimmer. Jinx refers to the Firelights as “street trash”. And whenever his people stand up to him, he doesn’t listen, he defaults to force.
He never wanted the boot off Zaun’s neck, he just wanted to wear it, and thought it would be different because he was Zaunite.

Unpopular opinions for you to opine on: both Zaun and Piltover would be better off with Jinx dead before episode 9. Or, indeed, after episode 9.
AGREE✔ (content warning, I'm gonna talk about if Jinx's suicide attempt in Ep. 7 had worked)
Sorry, Jinx 🥺🙏
I'm thinking about The Greater Good (TM) here not poor Silco, guys gonna be a mess.

But yeah...if Jinx's murder-suicide attempt on the bridge (Ep.7) had ultimately succeeded, things would go a little differently. Since Vi doesn't know anything changed, she and Jayce would still attack the factory and kill the child. So Jayce would still be driven to broker peace. I THINK Silco would be able to compartmentalize the agony of losing Jinx and still meet with Jayce.
Since Jinx is now dead, well that would fulfill Piltover's demands to have the terrorist behind the bombings brought to justice, wouldn't it? The families of her Topsider victims would get some measure of relief and I'm sure most of the firelights would be happy as well.
Of course Ekko (if he managed to survive the grenade) would be heartbroken (but possibly relieved? Like a traumatizing chapter in his life is finally over.) He couldn't save Powder but at least now he doesn't have to agonize over trying anymore. Or choose between his childhood friend and the lives of his found family. She made that choice for him.
And Silco would just be a wreck of a man. Or rather, an empty shell, hollowed out. He'd go through the motions (or Sevika would drag him through them), for Zaun, and his people would get amnesty, more economic opportunities, and that would open the door to getting a handle on the health and pollution crisis. Maybe he'd even convince himself it was inevitable for Jinx to leave him (he does love Learning Lessons from Trauma) . But that at least she left the world on her own terms. Though nothing would stop the guilt.
So yeah, in summation, Piltover 100% better off with Jinx gone. Zaun too most likely.
But the biggest variable is how Vi and Silco handle her loss. If Vi blames Silco and keeps trying to kill him until she succeeds? Shit could get bad. As bad as Piltover is, they're 'just' selfish immoral capitalists using the police like an army to violently oppress the poor.
If one of the other almost comically evil Chembaron's steps in to fill the power vacuum left by Silco, one who has no qualms with noncon human experimentation and none of Silco's ideals? Yeahhhh, could actually be worse. But that's getting even deeper into theoreticals!
Fun to think about! Thanks for the ask, Alisha!
