If a commission was proposed to have a sculpture in QUT’s Creative industry faculty to use as an example Figure 1928 is the sculpture chosen to occupy this space on QUT campus. The building in sight, hyper extends on the right-side, this acts as a linking mechanism for the other intersecting building. there are concrete blocks on the ground level which adds a rhythm and a boundary to the courtyard area.  Figure takes up a large amount of area using minimal material as it grows out of a steel metal base. The material used isn’t consistent with the materials used in its surroundings, as such it could be lending itself as a centre-piece. However In this artworks favour the framework of this sculpture can be seen through easily, thus not demanding too much of the courtyards attention. If It was a completely solid structure, then perhaps it would appear more like a monument, or statue. Visual harmony isn’t really at play with its environment here, The angles seen in the artwork are abrupt and jagged, which within the environment is only consistent with an angled roof seen in the far left of the frame. In terms of visual harmony, I would imagine that the sun would cast a shadow which would dominate the surrounding area, leaving no real room for other forms of sculpture to exist. After-all a 30ft Picasso cubist structure would be quite full of life and energy, I’de be all about the idea

The @metmuseum in New York is selling Tête de Femme (Fernande), Pablo Picasso's first Cubist sculpture, for around $30 million, with the funds going toward future acquisitions.
