I am convinced that the more I reread the trilogy, the more down bad Katniss just seems. Like, look at this

Her mother literally just said "someone they love", talking about Gale, and despite that whole paragraph of her thoughts regarding her feeling for Gale, what she actually says in reply is "Where's Peeta". Making subconscious connections about love there, Katniss?

"You've seen how people are, when someone they love is in pain" (Gale literally injured on the table)

"Where's Peeta?"

And this is immediately after

"There's a long pause."

Like girl, hang up, tf?! You just listening to him breathe? Lol.

i think one of the reasons catching fire in particular is so superior to the mockingjays has to do with visual appeal. (and for some reason oscar winner jlaw having the most monotone expressions despite katniss' emotional inner monologue...) i get that it's supposed to represent war and tragedy, but use the colors on the squad themselves and in 13! it makes no sense for the capitol to be devoid of color!! the books point out specifically glittering buildings and pink and orange streets!!!

i love thg so much but there's a reason 99% of people have the same ranking for the movies despite mockingjay not being that bad of a film at all.

(and why tbsosas is gonna cement itself above mockingjay for most ppl)

They have this almost unnameable quality that is extremely captivating.

On the surface they seem like complete opposites, but underneath they have the same core traits. This is what makes their relationship sustainable and the payoff of their HEA so well worth it.

Even though they had different upbringings, personalities, and outlooks on life, they shared an affinity for empathy, compassion, selflessness, bravery, self sacrifice, desire for peace, and a yearning to live in a just world.

This is what catches the attention of an entire nation, and what makes them leaders of a sort and icons at such a young age.

Their relationship, and the way they react to situations they are forced into make them incredibly compelling characters and you can't help but feel their struggle and root for their real relationship to blossom.

What I love the most about Everlark is it isn't your typical romance. Even though it hits a surprising amount of dramatic/tropey notes (fake relationship, love triangle, enemies to lovers, friends to lovers, lovers to enemies, and then it circles back again).

What Everlark does best is deliver a heartfelt journey to finding the definition of love for both Katniss and Peeta. Where for the main character's idea of love begins as a taboo, a cautionary tale, and something to be avoided at all costs, over the course of the (books) their relationship with love is redefined over and over as something that not only cannot be avoided but is also something that is essential to the human experience. It's needed, in order to survive. And for the second half of the duo, love begins as something pure and incorruptable, almost mystical and untouchable and shifts later to something more pliable, and less perfect seeming. Its a love that makes allowances for human frailties and shortcomings. The definition of this character's unconditional love goes through several transformations, including almost being extinguished entirely in the third book, only to rise from the ashes and be reborn into a tender flame that both Peeta and Katniss nurture back to full health after the events of Mockingjay pass.

The way that their love is so perfectly imperfect, but also so strong and resilient is entirely too beautiful to me, and will always be my favorite part of the hunger games.

That, and Peeta's sexy little smile.

anyway its so bittersweet when someone creates a character thats so fascinating and flawed ... like i dont read much y/a because im a grown woman but at least when i WAS reading y/a..... NO ONE did it like katniss. none of the other y/a girlies even understood what she was doing well enough to TRY to do it. katniss was grimy and and rude and rough-edged but still so much a teenage girl that is so overly sensitive but the only way she understands how to express her anguish is to be angry and push people away or throw herself into danger. shes just so special. and peeta is like the useless girl in an anime thats always being rescued and loves to cook. THATS feminism.

The ship names for the love triangle in THG are sooooo appropriate because you have:

G@leniss which is like, this ship is just about Gale. Katniss's desires, personality, values, characterization, etc. have to be cut out and/or minimized to give Gale his fantasy.

Everth0rne because this ship is forever and ever a thorn for everyone involved.

Then there's Everlark, which is poetic and beautiful, invoking a mythical bird of fate.

And Peeniss. Because Peeta is the only dick Katniss wants.

There are so many Everlark moment but there was just something about Katniss stroking Peeta's head in the capitol mission in Mockingjay...

His head by her feet. Her feeding him in the middle of the night, holding on to the lid so he doesn't hurt himself. Asking about the time he was tortured, assuring him she is still trying to protect him. Moving the hair out of his forehead which is probably a relief because his wrists are bloody in the handcuffs. How he froze but didn't withdraw and she kept going. And how he finally fell asleep because he felt safe enough around her.

Chills.

Don't worry to much. I found out I had an infected wisdom tooth one day and the next day without any notice I was leaving work early to get them pulled. I found out I had 5 wisdom teeth instead 4 so that wasn't fun as well getting it done and finding out after taking it for a few days that I was allergic to the pain meds they had me on. So you know for a fact you are not going to have my bad luck because that was a 1 in a million case

Yikes, that doesn’t sound fun at all. I actually read an article about someone dying from a dental infection the other day because I’m extra and google shit for no reason other than to stress myself out unnecessarily lol.
