I have finally figured out why i love watching the first part of love in the air so much. 'Cause to me it's so obvious for the second part- Pai and Sky are everything i love in a (fictional) couple: green flags all around, a main character that's intelligent and self aware, the banter and quick witted dynamic between him and Pai, enough hurt comfort to feed my starved little soul, just the right amount of angst-fluff balance...

And yet i rewatch LITA's first part way more- and yes, the lighter content certainly has something to do with it. But more than anything it's because Rain as a person embodies so much of what i am scared and ashamed of being. He's goofy and impulsive and sometimes even flat out dumb (despite actually being quite capable and intelligent). When he sees something he wants, he goes for it! He's motivated and hard working. He makes mistakes and learns from them without making himself feel worthless, he's sweet and caring and dives in head first where others would stop and think. Yes, sometimes that ends bad for him, yes he has SO much to learn. But isn't being able to do that so refreshing? As a person who overthinks everything and is deadly afraid of making any type of mistake, yet also a young person who's growing and discovering how to exist, Rain is all those qualities I have but desperately try to hide out of shame- and he's loved for it. By Payu, who's more responsible and stable and able to support Rain, because that's what you do when you love eachother. Payu, who is very close to an ideal partner to me.

It's incredebly comforting to see such a reflection of yourself- the part that you're always trying to hide- be loved in such a way.
