Do you like rhythm games? Do you love games with amazing original concepts, even if you don't like rhythm games?
Let me introduce you to the Kickstarter for Ratatan! But first, let's talk about context.
Patapon is a spiritual successor to the amazing game, Patapon. Patapon had three installments. Here is a trailer for its remastered collection if you are curious. It is a wonderful game/game series where you command characters with rhythm-based commands.

Now, back to Ratatan. Ratatan is everything Patapon was, but even better. You can watch its official trailer here:

Again, Ratatan is currently being backed on Kickstarter. It has amazing add-ons, and backing a digital copy of the game is less than $50 USD, a refreshment from the $70 new, big games of poor quality go out for. The people who worked on Patapon also are working on Ratatan, making it authentic and allowing them to go to heights they didn't get to go to with Patapon.
Ratatan is incredibly promising. Their release is planned to be for 2025. It was funded in under an hour, but it still could use your funding to make it even better! It only has 2 main stretch goals left to go!
Again, here is its Kickstarter link! All people who support the Digital Edition Reward, the lowest tier, get beta access to the game! For a physical copy, it will be released on Xbox Series X, PlayStation 4 & 5, and the Nintendo Switch.
The Kickstarter only has 7 days left! Meeting those stretch goals is super important, so if it's an interesting idea to you, please consider supporting it!

They even have a Discord, which allows for you to watch as the game develops!

what is patapon it looks very strange (positive) but I can’t really tell anything else about it
patapon is a game series ! the genre is kind of like a combination strategy and rhythm where the main premise is that you're a god and you command an army of patapons by hitting different drum commands to the beat! there's 3 games and they're from 2007-2011 but i just picked them up recently to play through an emulator and i think it's really nice.
i picked it up recently cuz there's a spiritual sucessor called ratatan in the works which made me remember 'oh yeah i saw something about that patapon game one time' and i looked up game footage of it and was like wait this looks awesome i wanna try it out. now i am obsessed i think! yipiee! hope that answers your question :]

Hello! I just discovered your roleswap comic and I'm eating it up, it's so gooooooood. I don't really ship MetaDede personally, but good gods the way you write them bickering and bantering and the near sync when shit gets serious makes me wanna scream in excitement ekdvsiehrhr

Absolutely my favorite part of the swap. It just makes me crave for an actual Bandana Dee boss fight that actually does him justice. (also the Prince of Dreams/Beasts title itches something in my heart really well)
I'm not sure if it was intentional or if you even know who I'm talking about, but giving Bandana Dee a Scythe at some point (plus some wind abilities) really reminds me of General Gong the Hawkeye from Patapon, what with the whole high-ranking, scythe wielding, wind-adjacent thing. Probably just a coincidence tho, but I personally love it!

If I may go on a tangent about the shipping thing because I'm glad you brought that up. It's a huge complement to hear you say that because-
The Roleswap comic is not a story about romance. But it is about love.
While I am a personal lover of metadede and it fueled my initial creation of this story, I want to take the Roleswap AU in a different direction from a story that's focuses on a ship where "the main characters act the way they do because they are in love or a couple." A "partnership" like theirs can possibly be interpreted as a build up to a romance. But it doesn't have to be! So there's no blatantly romantic interactions anywhere in this story like what may be found in my non-Roleswap, specifically metadede labeled content (Like kisses, confessions of love, etc.).
Dedede and Meta do love each other, like the other protagonists of Kirby love each other. Kirby, Bandana Dee, all the other Waddle Dees, the Meta-Knights, and the friends they've made over the years. The love between many of them has developed over the entire series! They've all come a long way from fighting each other to trusting one another and even having fun together!
I see the love between the Kirby protagonists as one where they care about and want the best for each other. They may not always understand the other's thoughts and motivations. But they respect them and learn to complement each other's differences. They protect each other in battle. They grow together and learn to bring out the best in each other.
So how could two very different and powerful authority figures like Dedede and Meta come together to save their friends and family, and navigate a huge world and an unknown conflict together? That's the main question I want to present in this story.
Whatever the interpretation of the King and Knight's relationship a reader may have, I'm most happy about the fact that this comic has readers!!!
Anyway!! Back to your ask! :D
Primal Bandana Dee means a lot to me too! The only reason this comic exists is because I also wanted a cool boss fight for him, and I had just finished playing Forgotten Land for the first time. It all just branched out from there. I wish I could just spill everything I have planned for him, but alas! I have a story with a set order to tell! I will say that if anyone is worried about not seeing him until the Winter Horns area, that he will make appearances before that. Just stay tuned!
And hey. This is an AU of an existing story. We know how the canon ending went already. To keep things interesting I have to include some surprises in my version down the line somewhere, right? ;)
I also haven't heard of Patapon so the resemblance between General Gong and Bandee is a coincidence! I did look it up and General Gong looks cool!! I respect scythe wielders, haha. Thanks for telling me! If this is a game I have the ability to play it could be fun to check it out!
New Roleswap update is coming soon! I feel bad that it's been about a month and I left it on a bit of a cliffhanger. But my personal and work life is slowing down enough for me to make more progress on the next pages! Our heroes will get out of the underground tunnel soon! :O

In Patapon 1, several unused files can be found for various levels, including an unused character named “Takaramono.” She was to be a recurring character throughout the series before being scrapped. The image below shows what the level would’ve been like.
‘Katahimikan River’ would’ve been her first appearance. The level would consist of two zigotons scouting the river with a much smaller zigoton following behind. If the player does not activate Fever Mode or interact with the surroundings, they will witness dialogue between the zigotons. Once they leave, the level will act as hunting grounds with Motitis and Kacheek spawned throughout.
Fan theories suggest the two soldier zigotons are Makoton and Aiton based on their helms, the smaller zigoton being a young Takaramono.

SONY have teased a new Patapon game that, for some fucking reason, completely misses the visual appeal of the series.
SONY have gone all-in on being auteur, games-as-art hyperrealistic 3D showstoppers, so even Patapon has to be set in a snowy forest vista.
Meanwhile, with Ratatan, the spiritual successor to Patapon made by many of the original devs, the game actually has a visual identity and charm that embraces what Patapon did.

What's Patapon? The artstyle reminds me of some mid 2000s thing which I like immediately
YEAH the first game came out in 2007/8 so i guess its mid 2000s lmao
patapon/2/3 is a rhythm/ real time strategy game series for the psp in which you play as the patapon god/almighty patapon and use music to command an army of patapons on their journey to earthend which involves taking down big bosses and taking down the enemy tribe trying to stop your quest
highly recomend checking out some gameplay and/or the music or even playing it yourself the devs are super chill about emulation as people literally emulate mods for the 3rd game in their discord server lmao
theres also a new game like it by the same creators called ratatan which was kickstarted in september and is due to release in 2025 if you want a more modern take on the gameplay, judging by the ask though youd probably prefer patapon
