#fbf to checking out a rare オオゴマダラ Paperkite Butterfly (Idea leuconoe) garden and their golden pupae on Kikaijima Island. Also, very close to the airport, are the WW2 Battle Command base ruins (戦闘指揮所跡). Outside of this base are "Tokkō flowers" (Wild Blanketflowers) that were given to the 42 Special Attack Battalion kamikaze pilots who died after leaving from Kikai for The Battle of Okinawa. These are planted here as a reminder for generations of what occurred here.
