Insecure Partner Headcanons
(how they support and reassure you)
Reth, Hassian, Nai’o, Hodari
Reth
it baffles him that you could feel insecure in the relationship at all
he doesn’t take it personally, he knows it’s not his fault
he just thinks you’re so amazing and thinks it’s a blessing to be with you every day
and he feels like you’re way above his league
so it confuses him when you ask him if he’d still love you if you were a worm
because yeah??? he’ll love you in any way shape or form
he knows you just need a little extra reassurance and he’s more than happy to give it
he always makes your favorite meal when you’re feeling particularly down
and he holds you and plants many kisses all over your face as he reassures you that he’s not leaving and that you make him so happy
Hassian
while he comes off as abrasive when you first meet, he’s actually a very gentle lover
he’s very attentive to your emotions, so he can tell you’re feeling insecure even before you say anything by reading your body language
and by that time he’s already gone out and purchased a small gift for you to show his devotion and appreciation
he gifts it to you as soon as he comes home and pulls you into a hug
and he loves slow dancing with you
he puts on a record and twirls you around the kitchen as he whispers praises and promises to love you forever in your ear
Nai’o
it’s always unexpected when you express feeling insecure
your hints always go over his head so when you finally mention something, it puts him in a bit of a frenzy
did he say something wrong? was he not spending enough time with you? he knows the farm keeps him busy but he never wants to make you feel like you’re not a priority
and you have to do a little reassuring to him that he’s done everything right, you just have insecurities and anxiety
but once he gets it he will stop at nothing to make sure you feel secure
his go-to method is a bouquet of flowers and a heartfelt letter professing his love for you and everything he loves about you
all your quirks and habits, and he sings you praises
all the letters are tearstained from how happy they make you to read
he’s the kind of boyfriend that likes to sit and admire what’s his
so while you lay in bed or sit on the couch, he just gazes into your eyes until you become bashful
he just thinks you’re so kind and beautiful and wants you to know it too
Hodari
he shows you how much he cares by doing things for you
he’ll rub your feet, bring you coffee or tea in bed, pick the sundrop lilies for you to put in your hair
but sometimes the little nagging voice in your head gets to you anyway
so he has Najuma help him plan a fun night of games and finger foods to eat
because spending time with your family always makes you feel better
so you spend the whole night laughing and chatting and losing at cards but it’s all okay
and at the end of the night he gives you a kiss on the forehead and he tells you how much you mean to him

Pointless Palia Head-Cannons!
This is a segment where my hyper-focused and obsessive brain will shower you all with all of the pointless very important head-cannons I have about the MMO Palia and its many NPCs!
Today’s topic is:
Which Palia NPCs can sing well and which ones simply cannot carry a tune?
Now, in the words of the famous Italian plumber, “Here we go!” (List below the cut!)
NPCs are listed in alphabetical order.
• Ashura - Absolutely yes, but in a very deep, sea-shanty / Gaelic tune way. He’s not the most technically sound, but his voice is very gruff and soothing. Absolutely sang his son lullabies every night.
• Auni - No, I’m sorry. Convinced that he cannot carry a tune AT ALL but thinks he can. Sings loudly with zero inhibition whatsoever. Gotta give him credit there!
• Badruu - We know this man was in a traveling Bard group, so he’s musically inclined for sure. I feel like he would have been killer backup and filler vocals and he can harmonize beautifully.
• Caleri - Doesn’t believe in fun, jovial activities like singing. (Elouisa informs you later that her sister can in fact not carry a tune at all.)
• Chayne - Absolutely. He’s naturally musically inclined, but part of his spiritual training involved learning to lead chants and hymns. Bass level vocals, v soothing.
• Delaila - Not at all. Where do you think Auni gets it? Part of what entranced her about Badruu in the beginning was his musical abilities. She’ll still sing along with a group and put her all into it though!
• Einar - The concept of producing a vocal stimulation to create a pleasing melodic sound is lost to the robot. But if it’s your Oneness, he respects it.
• Elouisa - Cannot sing, but definitely played clarinet in high school and was first chair!
• Eshe - No way. Cruella de Vil type vibes. She definitely was classically trained on the piano, but doesn’t often exercise the skill.
• Hassain - Can absolutely carry a tune and harmonize well! Definitely low baritone or higher bass in range. Can harmonize with higher ranges very well!
• Hekla - Her Jina often sings to herself as she works, but the ability and desire to produce a series of melodies is not within her rune programming.
• Hodari - Not the biggest fan of singing, but has a decent voice that comes off pleasantly gruff and southern. I imagine if Pedro Pascal’s ‘Joel’ from The Last of Us sang a slower, more reserved tune. (My other example was the dad cow from Back at the Barnyard that sings “I Won’t Back Down”… Let me know if that woulda been better or worse.)
• Jel - Definitely took vocal lessons with his sisters. Has a very pleasant and airy singing voice that is very technically sound.
• Jina - Doesn’t really sing much except for to herself. Massive stage fright on this one! Hekla says that her Jina seems happy when she sings, and that’s what matters.
• Kenji - Honestly? 100%, yes. Maybe like a broadway or an operatic voice. Doesn’t sing much but I imagine it would sound really jolly if he was a jollier guy.
• Kenyatta - YES! Doesn’t sing because she thinks it’s ‘lame’ (she gives me massive ‘too cool for school’ vibes) but has a delightful and powerful singing voice (kinda like the wolf Porsha Crystal played by Halsey in Sing 2.)
• Nai’O - Yes absolutely. Got his talent from his dad! He’s very shy when put on the spot though, so he doesn’t sing in front of people often — mostly when he works in the field with his animals by himself.
• Najuma - Not at all! But it’s okay because Najuma has zero desire to, haha. Kid is happy to be tinkering!
• Reth - On god, YES. Man has a beautiful and casual singing voice with a little rasp around the edges. Sings to himself while he cooks or gets really focused on something. I’m thinking “Feelin’ Good” by Michael Bublé, but maybe bit more rough around the edges.
• Sifuu - Not much of a singer, but I know our Muscle Mommy definitely has a few war chants or something up her sleeve! Lady can keep a beat for sure.
• Tamala - Thinks she can, but makes it way too sultry. You heard me. There’s such a thing as too much!
• Tish - Yes! Absolutely. She seems like she would 100% have like a Mandy Moore or Kristen Bell vibe. Very Disney Princess-esque!
• Zeki - Okay, honestly I think yes — but not in a conventional way. Kind of like Ashura; I think he would be great at singing like traditional Grimalkin shanties or folk-songs. Not very practiced, but he’s got spirit!

Jel would want to go hunting with the PC but would be the worst hunting partner. Either he'd never be able to stop talking about the beauty of the eerie cursed woods or he'd get tired halfway through and complain.
Constantly scaring off prey with his soliloquies or being tired after the hike out. He is of a gentle nature and not built for hiking for hours and sitting still for hours and nary making a sound.
Despite this Ori keeps letting Jel come with him for "Bahari picnics" and Ori going to hunt after Jel inevitably falls asleep after the hike + food.

palia characters playing minecraft hcs
hopefully i got everyone but if not please do tell me 🙏
jel: spends most of his time dyeing armour and designing banners, has really efficient redstone farms set up to that end that everyone mooches off
tish: builds and decorates the most beautiful elaborate houses in the server. knows every building trick in the book. built the main lobby mostly by herself
reth: thought he was a genius when he first figured out the recipe for cake. never looks up anything and insists on discovering all the food himself
hodari: always deep in a cave somewhere with stacks of shulker boxes (courtesy of najuma). supplies the entire server, trades with tish a lot
najuma: in the nether within an hour, working towards an elytra. spends most of her time there and has an insane base
auni: goes exploring so far the only way he ever gets home is by dying and respawning in the lobby. keep inventory was enabled for him
badruu & delaila: too busy to play rip. their tech goes to auni and nai'o anyway
nai'o: built the farm empire of his dreams, but entirely without redstone so he never has time for anything else lol
kenyatta: plays during her shifts at city hall. helps najuma in the nether. hates that she organises her inventory so well
eshe: doesn't play. kicked everyone from the last server so they restarted without her
kenli: owns the server, logs in sometimes but always manages to ruin someone's project so he doesn't play as much as he'd like
einar: fishes 24/7. what can i say
hassian: lives in a dirt hut and is entirely content with that. spends most of his time taming wolves
sifuu: enchants everyone's armour, weapons and tools. sickass base. hunts for rare spawns
caleri: has a library where she manually documents every book she protects irl as a minecraft book
elouisa: dead-set on finding herobrine. subscribes to every conspiracy theory about the origins of mobs and dimensions
jina: invested in the lore. plays story mode because the usual game is too boring for her
hekla: watches over jina's shoulder and offers suggestions
chayne: doesn't own any tech
ashura: rebuilt the ormuu's horn in the lobby. kinda just enjoys the game and being online with people instead of gunning for anything in particular, but he does fish
zeki: set up a villager farm asap. its the main hub of activity in the lobby. pretty much has every farm possible going actually. charges for use so the others built their own
tamala: essentially lives the life of a minecraft witch. kicked a real one out of a hut and made it her own. set up a dungeon mob farm underneath

💘: 🏹Hassian Headcanon🏹
When Hassian was little, his momma, Taylin, used to read him bedtime stories that were of grand adventures and monsters. And his mom, Sifuu, used to play the parts of the monsters dramatically and with enthusiasm just to help make the storytelling all the more exciting for Hassian.
He also got to sometimes play the hero of the story with a toy bow and arrow or a toy sword- Sifuu was great at theatrical deaths.

"Your form is terrible."
Tea lowered her bow and let the sernuk she was aiming at run off before turning to greet Hassian.
"Too bad I don't know an experienced hunter who could give me pointers," she teased playfully.
Although others clearly struggled with his gruffness, she found it quite endearing.
He said nothing but motioned for her to raise her bow again. Stepping next to her, he placed his hands on hers and helped her adjust her arms, oblivious to how his closeness was effecting her.
"Remember the position your arms are in. It will take some time but eventually you won't even need to think about it. Your muscles will remember how it feels. Right before you release, hold your breath to help keep your aim steady and then fire."
She tried not to shiver as his breath caressed the back of her neck and took aim at a chapaa. She followed his advice, her form perfect, and released her arrow, which found its mark easily.
"I did it!" she exclaimed, dancing a small victory dance.
He fought the urge to smile at her antics. "Not bad. A little more practice and you will make a fine hunter."
"Thanks for the help Hassian."
He just nodded before heading off towards Bahari Bay.
She watched him for a bit, Tau trailing faithfully behind him before heading home herself, unaware that she hadn't been the only one effected by their closeness.

#headcanon nonsense#palia but tangentially#but not tangentially i'm just shy about posting my thoughts in the main tag orz#i remember tish mentioning ONCE that it's based on furniture her and reth designed as kids but#the makeshift armchairs specifically implying they're ancient torture devices (re: his Path convo)?#the one planter that implies it came out of reth's trash?#i can just imagine him attempting things and tish helping to make them some semblance of useable#but given how self-depreciating he is he just threw them all into the lake or the bay or whatever because he was ashamed of them#and that's why you've been fishing them out all over#i like to think about him visiting the homestead and having to pause like#hey fancypants uh... where did you get those armchairs on your lawn? fished em out of the lake? haha! put em back!#you have to give him credit for being ambitious enough for a 76 piece furniture set though#even if he doesn't see any hope or future in his original path#tish has the skills but the makeshift set has so much charm because they worked on it together...#anyway this has been on my mind because i'm trying to gather the set + catch 1 of every fish thanks for coming to my TED talk

Random thoughts of it below
Badruu used to do drag when he was younger. Delaila most definitely loved it and even helped him get ready
It was just a drag persona he used for a different genre of folk songs (the fem-empowerment country songs)
He stopped for a long while when they had kids but eventually got back into with the help of a friend (wink wink SoL:Map)
His name originates/is a callback to his Bard work. It’s a ref to the Triangle instrument but I also like to think he’s got an alt outfit that has a parasol that’s decorated in dangly bells

What are your Palia headcanons?
I'll go first!
Communicating across a server is just the equivalent of yelling as loud as you can. The villagers absolutely know we say disco deer. They still don't know what it means, though ("wtf is disco? what is a deer???")
They're also probably aware of PCs making references to regular Human stuff that they just don't have any concept of and they think we are very strange for this.
Hassian would listen to Sleep Token and he would love it. (Shoutout to the Tumblr user who's with me on this.)
If Jel was an actual person, he'd be the guy who's so cheerful with the general public, then he gets off work and goes to sit in his car and scream with heavy metal blasting.
Reth would give you stick and pokes if you asked, but you gotta give him one too.
The villagers are unaware we can track them on our maps and are a little freaked out how the Humans can always run right to them, no matter where they are and no matter what time of day or night.
Majiri straight up just don't need to sleep more than a couple hours and that's why their schedules are batshit fucking insane compared to Humans. Some of them do think we're lazy for how long we sleep lol
Jel has ADHD. Hassian and Reth are autistic. Sifuu also gets to be autistic because I like her. You'd think my reasonings here would mean Jina is also autistic, but actually, grad students are just like that.
The reason Einar seems to display less (negative) emotions than Hekla is because he actually just hasn't gone through anything that's made him feel that way before. Man has just always been Fine And Good.
Jel (I think about him a lot) has had relationships before the PC. You're not his first, but you are his best/favorite.

🥺: 🐠Einar Headcanon🐠
He loves his shiny pebble collection so much, but sometimes he feels like he’s either collected them all when the gifting/finding of them slows down, or that he’s keeping them to himself and being greedy.
So Einar will throw a portion of his collection at great lengths (I mean, have you seen the arms and way they move?), sometimes even venture up to mountain tops to do it, knowing he may seem them again someday. Or maybe, that someone else will find it and love the pebble just as much as he did.
