THE HISTORY OF ODUMOSA, THE POWERFUL HUNTER AND FOUNDER OF ERIN-ILE KWARA STATE
Erin-ile, an old Yoruba town was established around 1225 AD for example more than 878 years prior. History of Erin-ile goes back to the verbose return of Oranyan from Edo nation after his red hot military campaigns against the Igbos who were then annoying that piece of Oduduwa's reality.
Erin-ile is probably the most established town in the old Oyun Local Government Area, including Offa. Erin-ile town was established about a similar time as Ipee and the limit between these two was before the coming of Offa town. Solid oral custom and serious research agreeably spin the authentic cause of Erin-ile around one famous regal sovereign of Ife called ODUMOSA.
He was known to be an eminent tracker and marksman, subsequently his name "APAAYAN", for example a marksman who was presumed for his best games. As the fore-name recommend, Odu-mosa was additionally a faithful religionist and a figuring chief. He was a shrewd executive and appealling character. He was the grandson of lord OBALUFON of Ife. OBALUFON is the contracted from the OBA ILU IFE for example (The ruler of Ile-Ife), and Olufon its short structure implies OLU-IFE for example (the ruler of Ife).
He was an acclaimed skilled worker and the first to acquaint metal works with Ife. He is as yet being exceptionally venerated for that important commitment. Ruler Obalufon was ruling when his nephew sovereign ORANMIYAN drove his arrangement of military undertakings to Benin. Ruler Obalufon later kicked the bucket and sovereign ORANMIYAN who was the beneficiary obvious didn't return in time from the war front. In his nonattendance, lord Obalufon's child ALAIYEMORE was designated and introduced as the following Ife ruler.
From that point, sovereign Oranmiyan surfaced suddenly to Ife. Frenzy held everybody inspired by a paranoid fear of what might and could be the response of such a fierce military legend to his life aspiration being so run by his counsin's climb to the seat which he (Oranmiyan) had constantly desired. In such a disrupted and unsure circumstance, ODUMOSA who was the immediate child of lord Alaiyemore thought of it as foothardy to sit tight in Ife for ORANMIYAN's response.
He immediately chose to stop Ife so as to get away from the conceivable anger of Oranmiyan. It was everybody's conviction that whoever incited Oranmiyan welcomed searing war. Odumosa set off with a huge unforeseen of devotees including his child ALAWODE AREBIOPE and his stepbrother, ruler ALAPA. He conveyed with him enough supplies of essential needs. he brought various valuable fortunes from the castle. Among such were beaded crowns, glorious clothing types, regal staff (EDAN OBALUFON), Obalufon's celebration silver crown, set of strung coral dots, the way of life of Obalufon, Ifa prophet, war types of gear, arms and ammo, (for games and self preservation) and a puzzling clarion horn for collecting his adherents at whatever point they dispersed looking for games and food or were abandoned. He depended particularly on the horn which he likewise used to give war or harmony signs and headings of next developments to his supporters.
Like patriarch Abraham of the Jewish history who on divine requests left his folks in the land Haran for an obscure goal. Odu-mosa left Ife on Ifa prophet's guidance for the open wide world without learning his genuine goal. He was a man of confidence, without a doubt a man of dauntless boldness, never terrified of slopes or wildernesses, dry land or overwhelmed planes. He continued endlessly nudging his contingents to walk and head quick in the opposite direction from a potential pursue by Oranmiyan. He told his kin "E RIN E RIN; E RIN" for example WALK FAST, WALK FAST, WALK FAST. The name ERIN was later suffixed with "ILE", which signifies the terminal finish of the trek on Ifa prophet's heading to frame the compound name ERIN-ILE.
After a long spell of meandering and meandering aimlessly before they arrived at that goal, they ended and rested in various spots, as ERINMO or ERIN-ITADOGUN for example an intersection place where they laid on seventeenth day of their trek and made places of arrangement fronds. A major market was set up at the intersection settlement. When Odumosa left, a portion of his devotees stayed behind and settled for all time in ERINMO. Other spot of visit included ERIN-OKE, ERIN-IJESHA, which are all now remarkable towns in Osun State. At Erin-ile, Odumosa met three trackers; Olowe, Afolumodi and Gbaagba, who received him as their first ruler when they was aware of his august status.
At a last visit before Erin-ile, Odumosa, Odumosa overlooked his clarion horn. When they returned for it, it had sunk and shimmering water, presently the stream Owo has begun spouting out of it. It was at this crossroads that his stepbrother, ruler Alapa isolated from him while Odumosa moved west ward, Alapa moved east ward. Alapa now settled Eku-Apa now in Irepodun LGA of Kwara State.
An a lot later settlement of Odumosa's replacements are Erin Papa, established on an open meadow by the thirteenth Elerin of Erin-Ile in rebellion of Alimi, the Fulani Jihadist. Erin Papa was found in Osun State and is presently called Erin – Osun. Around 1907, Elerin olaojo chose to profit to Erin-Ile for discontinuance of threats by the Jihadist. A few residents tailed him while some picked to remain. Erin_osun is likewise a major toen and she imparts close proclivity to Erin-ile. Indeed, the two towns are "twain" towns.
Aside from towns and settlements set up legitimately by Odumosa or his replacements, there are additionally families who have blood or social proclivity with Erin-Ile and are living in different networks. They can be perceived by their surname (oriki) regardless of whether they are in Ibadan, Abeokuta, Ilorin, Oshogbo, Ilesha, Ogbomoso or Offa. Such names incorporate, "More, Mosa" (from Alaiyemore and Odumosa), "Omo Elerin Mosa", "Omo Elewe Ladogba", "Omo Obalufon L'Erin", "Omo Abinuwole" alluding to Olowe who sank alive and "Omo Abiowe" again alluding to Olowe star war pioneer of Erin-Ile. Some outstanding Nigerians with such names incorporate Ali Agboguleri; Saka Pena, Adegoke Adelabu (Penkelemi) and Oba Gbadamosi Adebimpe all in Ibadan, the balogun group of Iragbiji, the Duro Ladipo family in Oshogbo, the Ige family in Ijeshaland spreading to Ibadan, the Toki family in Offa and on the maternal side, the Olugbense imperial family in Offa and so forth.
By and by, Erin-Ile is in Oyun LGA of Kwara State and was the base camp of the Local Governement when it was first made in 1980. For odd reasons, the central command was moved when the Federal Military Government re-made the L.G.A. in 1990. Erin-Ile is on the southern-most edge of Kwara State and offers limits with Offa, Ilemona, Irra, Eku-Apa, Ipee, Igosun all in Kwara State and Oyan and Ila - Odo in Osun State. She is overhauled by current enhancements. A yearly celebration impossible to miss to her is the Obalufon celebration named after their begetter in Ile-Ife.

🌹 Osho Daily Meditations - 345 🌹 📚. Prasad Bharadwaj 🍀 345. HOMELESS 🍀 🕉. Bliss is always homeless, it is a vagabond, Happiness has a home, unhappiness also has a home, but bliss has none. It is like a white cloud, with no roots anywhere. 🕉
The moment you get roots, bliss disappears and you start clinging to the earth. Home means security, safety, comfort, convenience. And finally, if all these things are reduced to one thing, home means death. The more alive you are, the more you are homeless. That is the basic meaning of being a seeker: It means to live life in danger, to live life in insecurity, to live life not knowing what is coming next. It means always remaining available and always being able to be surprised. If you can be surprised, you are alive. Wonder and wander come from the same root.
A fixed mind becomes incapable of wondering, because it has become incapable of wandering. So be a wanderer, like a cloud, and each moment brings infinite surprises. Remain homeless, Homelessness doesn't mean not to live in a home. It Simply means never become attached to anything. Even if you live in a palace, never become attached. If a moment comes to move, you move without looking back. Nothing holds you. You use everything, you enjoy everything, but you remain the master.
Continues...

I love attending Odunde'. its a fantastique traditional weekend where we really show our Yoruba traditions to those who come and enjoy it. it's held in Philadelphia,PA. if you've never come before, add it to your summer next year. its fun for the whole family.
Odunde is the largest African American street carnival in the United States with a procession covering over 15 city blocks and an estimated 500K attendees.
The Odunde Festival is mostly a street event catered to the interests of African-Americans & the African diaspora.
Odunde means 'Coming of the New Year'.
It is derived from the traditions of the Yoruba people of West Africa in celebration of the new year according to the traditional Yoruba calendar or Kọ́jọ́dá, which usually falls on the first moon of June (Òkudù) on the Gregorian calendar, and holds Annually in the city of Philadelphia. The festival logo is an Àkẹtè (fìlà) Abetí ajá on a stylized face with three Yoruba marks on each cheek.
The Odunde festival started in Philadelphia in 1975. Lois Fernandez and her friend Ruth Arthur organized the first Odunde Festival. It took place in April 1975, as the "Oshun Festival". This was because Fernandez was motivated to start the series of events that would later morph into the Odunde festival after a spiritual pilgrimage to the Osun-Osogbo festival of the Yoruba people.
Today, Osun remains a major component of the festivities, which begins with an all inclusive procession leading to the Schuylkill River where fruits and flowers are offered. This years Odunde street parade/festivities kicks off on Sunday, June 11, at 23rd Street and South Street, Philadelphia.

Rewind the Tape —Episode 3
Art of the episode
Just like we did for the pilot and for episode two, we took note of the art shown and mentioned in the third episode while we rewatched it. Did we miss any? Can you help us put a name to the unidentified ones? Do you have any thoughts about how these references could be interpreted?
Tumblr media
On the Origin of Species*
Charles Darwin, 1859
* Not exactly art... ...and not exactly confirmed, but given the time, the subject of their conversation, and Lestat's "...this naturalist that fogs your mind" remark, this seems the most likely attribution for the book Louis is reading during the opening scene.
Tumblr media
Darktown Strutters' Ball
Shelton Brooks, 1917
The song Antoinette is first singing was published that same year, and you can hear it performed by The Platters here.
Minuet in G
Christian Petzold, circa 1725
As pointed by @cardassiangoodreads in this post, the song Lestat first plays before he starts improvising is Petzold's Minuet in G, often falsely attributed to Johann Sebastian Bach.
Wolverine Blues
Jelly Roll Morton, 1923
While the scene in which Lestat improvises the melody happens in 1917, Morton would go on to record and release the song in Indiana in 1923.
Tumblr media
Slave Auction
Jean-Michael Basquiat, 1982
Tumblr media
Our very first look at Basquiat's Slave Auction comes in the third episode, though it will be the backdrop of most of the sixth. While some elements, like the crown of thorns, lend themselves to varied interpretations, it's clear this collage shows a boat (golden for money, perhaps) crossing a blue expanse, and the faces of the slaves being transported.
Mother Daughter and Twins 1
Rahmon Olugunna, undated
Tumblr media
Rahmon Olugunna, born in Osogbo in 1975, is a member of the Oshogbo school of artists in Nigeria. His work represents Yoruban mythology as well as modern Nigerian life. He is represented by New Orleans curator Katie Koch. [Identified by @vfevermillion.]
Untitled ceramic totems
Julie Silvers, undated
Tumblr media
Each unique totem is made by New Orleans native Julie Silvers, and they are distributed by New Orleans store Villa Vici. Two can be seen in the sitting room. [Identified by @vfevermillion.]
Javelina
Bryan Cunningham, undated
Tumblr media
By "Junkyard Alchemist" Bryan Cunningham, who posted about it here. [Found by @iwtvdramacd18.]
In the same shot we can see an unidentified painting, maybe of a man's profile. Perhaps you can place it?
Tumblr media
Untitled photo of loading docks in St. Paul, Minnesota
Bradley Olson, 2015 (Alamy Stock Photo)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Forty-two Kids and Cliff Dwellers
George Bellows, 1907 and 1913 respectively
Several Bellows pieces have been featured around Rue Royale already, in episodes one and two. [Identified by @nicodelenfent, here.]
Tumblr media
Am I Blue?
Harry Akst and Grant Clarke, 1929 [Identified by @ouizaya.]
The song that Antoinette sings when Jonah first walks into the Azalea is actually an anachronism. Maybe a bit of commentary from Louis, as this post suggests.
Nocturnes, Op. 55: No. 1 in F minor. Andante
Frederic Chopin, 1842-1844
This is the song that plays during Jonah and Louis's escapade to the Bayou.
Tumblr media
Roman Bacchanal
Vasily (Wilhelm) Alexandrovich Kotarbiński, 1898
Kotarbiński was a Polish artist and painter of historical and fantastical subjects, and co-founder of the Society of Kyiv Painters. [Identified by @nicodelenfent.]
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Weeping Nude
Edvard Munch, 1913
Young Man kneeling before God the Father
Egon Schiele, 1909
Two more artists we've seen already, in episodes one and two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Self-Portrait
Edvard Munch, 1881-1882
Bouquet in a theater box
Pierre-Auguste Renoir, 1871
While we have seen Munch's work already, this is the first Renoir featured. He was a French artist and a leading figure in the development of the Impressionist style. [Identified by @nicodelenfent.]
Tumblr media
Church in Stein on the Danube
Egon Schiele, 1913 [Identified by @nicodelenfent, here.]
Tumblr media
Ship in the Night
James Gale Tyler, c. 1870 [Identified by @vfevermillion.]
Tyler was a New York born marine painter, considered a self-taught artist.
If you spot or put a name to any other references, let us know if you'd like us to add them with credit to the post!
This week, we are rewatching and discussing Episode 4, …The Ruthless Pursuit of Blood with All a Child's Demanding. We can't wait to hear your thoughts!
And, if you're just getting caught up, learn all about our group rewatch here ►

🌹 Osho Daily Meditations - 338 🌹 📚. Prasad Bharadwaj 🍀 338. SOLITUDE 🍀 🕉. All that is beautiful has always happened in aloneness; nothing has happened in a crowd. Nothing of the beyond has happened except when one is in absolute solitude, alone. 🕉
The extrovert mind has created conditioning all around that has become very ingrained: that when you are lonely you feel bad. It tells you to move around, meet people, because all happiness is in being with people. That's not true. The happiness that is with people is very superficial, and the happiness that happens when you are alone is tremendously deep. So delight in it… When aloneness happens, enjoy it. Sing something, dance something, or just sit silently facing the wall and waiting for something to happen. Make it an awaiting, and soon you will come to know a different quality. It is not sadness at all. Once you have tasted from the very depth of aloneness, all relationship is superficial.
Even love cannot go so deep as aloneness goes, because even in love the other is present, and the very presence of the other keeps you closer to the circumference, to the periphery. When there is nobody, not even a thought of anybody and you are really alone, you start sinking, you drown in yourself. Don't be afraid. In the beginning that drowning will look like death, and a sadness will surround you, because you have always known happiness with people, in relationships. Just wait a little. Let the sinking go deeper, and you will see a silence arising and a stillness that has a dance to it, an unmoving movement inside. Nothing moves, and still everything is tremendously speedy, empty, yet full. Paradoxes meet, and contradictions dissolve.
Continues...
