So that was what it was like to be on the civilian side of a battle, then. Peter wasn't entirely sure what the heck the thing that Strange had been fighting was... but he sure was glad it wasn't going to be him that Jameson was going to be blasting for leaving a mess on the city's streets. He would've jumped in if things had started going wrong, of course, but thankfully all he'd needed to do was pull Harry out of the way of some of the debris that'd come flying at the both of them.

"What? Oh- oh uh, crap." So much for hoping he could get through class without anyone noticing that he'd been hit in the face- hood up, face buried in the laptop he'd only just managed to scrape enough money together to get. His nose was definitely broken and for not the first time in his life and probably not the last, Peter found himself wishing that his healing factor worked just a bit faster. Rummaging around in his beaten-up backpack, he found some napkins from yesterday's lunch to hold against his nose.

"Thanks. I um... Some guy on the subway didn't like the look of me, I guess." Or a crook that'd been trying to break into a museum the night before- either worked. One just required less explanation.

Peter rolled over with a heavy groan, head pounding and memories distinctly fuzzy. "Wh..." he started, interrupted by an involuntary wince at just how bright the lights in the room he was in seemed to be. After a few moments of squinting to allow his eyes to adjust, he was finally able to look around with less pain. Something was wrong. He didn't need his enhanced senses to tell him that. The panic at how lethargic and just plain out of it he felt mixed with, well, how lethargic and out of it he was made him feel nauseous. Needed to move, needed to find out where he was and why... but first the room needed to stop spinning. He could try one thing, though.

"Hello? 's someone there?"

"Here. I thought some TEA might help with the ... aches and pains." MJ offered as she set the steaming mug down in front of him, wincing at how LAME that sounded out loud. God she swore he looked worse than he had five minutes ago - weaker, PALER, almost like she could see the grains of sand slowly draining from the hourglass of his life. Not that she'd ever SAY that to his face, it wouldn't help the situation at all. In fact she knew NOTHING could help right now, not until Pete brought the suit (and Dr. Connors) back.

But that didn't mean she was content to just WAIT AROUND, not when her best friend was visibly suffering right in front of her...

"... Is there anything else I can DO for you, Harry?" she asked softly, placing a hand on his arm as she sat by his side. "I mean, anything to make you more COMFORTABLE?"

not that they like to talk about it much, because while it DOESN'T matter to any of them now? at the time, it wasn't funny to peter AT ALL. his jealousy over the stupid moment, no matter how hard he worked to control it, was the first source of FRICTION in their friendship in years
