As some of y'all probably noticed already, my main trek blog has been randomly nuked (along with a handful of others, some never used) and tho I've emailed staff multiple times already since then, I doubt I'll get it back before the end of the day, so this is the closest substitute.
Happy first contact day!
Love,

Y'all holy shit
This might already be common knowledge and only news to me as a recent trekkie but before the day is over in most time zones, well...
I had assumed that all the lizards were puppets and the babies might be (couldn't find anything that would indicate otherwise) but. Salamander Janeway and Paris were played by human beings in costumes.
Susan Rossitto and Cindy Sorensen are the ones who played the Threshold lizards.
Both of them went uncredited and Susan Rossitto also passed away in 2013, but here are pictures of them:

Oh man. I'm thinking about like… little, autistic Worf growing up on earth, thinking that yes, he's different from all the other kids but it's okay, after all they're humans and he's a Klingon and that's why he's different and he'll probably be able to hang out with other Klingons down the line and it'll be fine. And then, when he's older, he does and… he still doesn't fit in. He's still different, he starts to think he'll never belong anywhere. Not because being raised by humans changed him until he didn't fit in with Klingons but because he never did with either of them from the start. I don't know the wholesome conclusion yet tho, sorry. I haven't gotten to that part of my life yet

Y'know it's been said that SNW is a prequel that hates being a prequel and that's 100% correct. But you know which prequel loves being a prequel? Enterprise. Like it's a very flawed show, don't get me wrong. But the writers knew what they were getting into when they signed up to write a prequel and they did an absolutely impeccable job. The Federation needed a backstory and they went so much harder than they needed to. SNW, take notes.

Btw, is there a commonly accepted term to refer to specifically the TNG/DS9/Voy era? I guess "90s trek" would potentially be one but ofc not entirely accurate since TNG started in the 80s and Voy made it into the 2000s.
I'd really love to know if there's any established term for it since it's decidedly my favourite era (and not because I grew up with it because - I actually didn't!) and naming all three shows each time just seems like an unnecessary hassle

"average starfleet officer makes 3 babies with aliens in their life" factoid actualy just statistical error. average starfleet officer makes 0 babies with aliens in their life. Trip Tucker, who lives on the nx-01 (due to being alive) & makes over 10,000 each day, is an outlier adn should not have been counted
