For the theory that K'in will leave the group in season 2, I came up with a more quick name for it
How about "The Sunset Theory"?
Since there's the symbolism linking K'in to the the sun and Quetzalcoatl (vs Yun's moon and Xolotl), and the sun leaving would be the sun setting.
Maybe for clarity's sake, "K'in's Sunset Theory"?
I'm not sure. Open to suggestions.

Video
youtube
Every episode of the first season of Onyx Equinox has released, and yesterday I was finally able to complete the video I have been working on for a long time that explains the setting, lore, mythology, characters, and so much more! It is truly an amazing show and is a fascinating look into Mesoamerica. Please check out my video, and if it intrigues you, make sure to watch the show (it’s free on Crunchyroll). Many thanks to @snowflake-owl for helping with the thumbnail and a few others for their contributions! If you enjoyed the video please give this a reblog!

Gods I hope we get to see in “Onyx Equinox”
There’s something a lot of people not familiar with Aztec Mythology (Myself included until not that long ago) don’t know about: The Mexica had lots and lots of gods. Seriously, their lists of deities is so long I still don’t even know half of them, so here’s a few of them that I would be interested in seeing as characters in this series (Or... In any other media using the mythos, really).
1. Huitzilopochtli
A.K.A the Blue Tezcatlipoca. AKA the “Handed Hummingbird”. AKA the god that gets infamously remembered today because his sacrifices required human hearts. You know how the Aztecs get despicted in modern media as sacrificing people by bloodily pulling out their hearts? Yep, that was just this god’s sacrifices.
This dude was the younger little brother of Quetzalcoatl and he was freaking badass. And he was a fucking HUMMINGBIRD. Quetzalcoatl out here as this giant, fabulous feathered serpent. Edgy Tezcatlipoca over there being this big, badass jaguar because of course he was. And then you have this tiny little hummingbird who’s the freaking personification of WAR and can and will fuck you over.
I can’t stress this enough: He was the God of War and human sacrifice, and most of his surviving lore describes him as a blue hummingbird of all things. He was the very first “Looks like a cinnamon roll, can actually kill you”.
Give me my heart-eating, bloodsoaked hummingbird warrior, Crunchyroll. I want to see my hummingbird boy.
2. Huehuecóyotl
...Okay, how do I describe this trickster bastard without comparing him to Loki in any way? Huh...
Ok, I think I know: Have any of you watched Durarara!!? Well, take freaking Izaya “I love humans” Orihara, ascend him to actual godhood, then make him a damn good artist and dancer, like, the best dancer this whole universe has ever known, the one guy you have to invite to your party even if he backstabbed you the night before that, because a party is just not a party unless he’s been invited.
And then turn him into a coyote.
This dude right here was a bastard, and a good-looking bastard when in human form at that. If we get an anime version of him on this series, I expect everyone to lose their collective shit over him. Seriously, if written well, this absolute motherfucker could be the very next ‘rat’ boy that gets everyone to simp for him while also simultaneously hating his guts. Crunchyroll would have to be complete idiots to let this opportunity pass. Just imagine the potential. Just... Imagine.
He was also apparently really fucking horny? Like, on a “Horny on main” mood  24/7. So... There’s that too, I guess.
3. Chalchiuhtlicue
So apparently this water goddess ruled over the other gods for a while before both Tezcatlipoca and Quetzalcoatl got jealous and joined forces to overthrew her? But doing that caused the Mexica equivalent of the Great Flood (and also turned everyone into fish for a good while)?
...Man, Mesoamerican mythology was weird.
She also apparently fucked Tlaloc, the one who’s almost always described as being some kind of Leviathan-like creature or something along those lines? As in, they were even married? Monsterfucking goals right there, if I say so myself.
I think she’s already been confirmed to be in the series already (She could even be one of the ladies shown in the trailer), but I still put her here because she seems really fucking cool. You go, girl.
4. Ehecalt
Ok people, this is where things get really, really weird.
Ehecalt is described as the God of the wind and the cardinal directions, with some small but important parts of the lore being credited to him or mentioning him by name. He also happens to have an important role on the tale of the Fifth Sun, where the gods reformed the Sun and the world (and humanity alongside with it) for the fifth time.
Oh yeah, I should get this out of the way before going any further: According to Aztec Mythology, the world actually ended at least five times already, with the gods having to fix the mess and rebuilt the world back to normal each time it happened, which would always leave them really tired, and also kinda hungry. Hence the whole sacrifice thing.
It was kinda comedic in a really dark way, really, as nearly all of these supposed apocalypses the gods had to fix were also their own damn fault in one way or another nearly every. single. time. The reason behind the literal destruction of the world involved more often than not one or two of the gods having a cosmic tantrum. Seriously.
Anyways...
Anyone who have seen the trailer knows that the series is apparently taking place during/after the Fouth Sun (”We have remade humanity four times before”), so this part of the mythos could be extremely important to the lore of the series.
And if this series turns out to be some anime-like retelling of the Fifth Sun, like I saw a few people in the spanish-speaking community theorizing already, then get ready because things are going to get really fucking tragic.
Long story short (Except, not short at all...): The sun they made was not moving like it should, so the Gods had to make the hard choice to give their own blood to the sun to get it working. And because just some bloodletting from each one of them wasn’t going to cut it, they all had to be sacrificed to the sun, and Ehecalt was the one who had to do the deed.
But there was a god that wasn’t very keen on the idea of having to be killed for the greater good: Xolotl. This god basically went “Fuck this shit, I’m out!” and went into hiding because he was absolutely terrified of dying. Very understandable... until you discover that Xolotl was like, the Grim Reaper of the Aztec mythos, making his fear of dying ironic and more than a little hypocritical.
Being a Shapeshifting god, Xolotl disguised himself as a bunch of different things while trying to escape Ehecalt, the most iconic of which being an axololt, a form which he took before hiding under water. A form of his which could have been shown to us already as being in the series.
If the Fifth Sun is in anyway relevant to the story, which very likely seems to be, then Ehecalt is bound to appear, right?
Well, here’s the thing: Apparently he and Quetzalcoatl are one and the same. More specifically, Ehecalt is one of many aspects of Quetzalcoatl, so he’s also referred to with the name Ehecatl-Quetzalcoatl.
The question here is, if Onyx Equinox turns out to really be a retelling of the Fifth Sun story and the cute, series mascot-looking axolotl shown briefly in the trailer really turns out to be Xolotl in disguise, how are they going to adapt Ehecalt? Are they just going to give the role to Quetzalcoalt and not mention the name entirely, as it would probably just needlessly complicate things? Will be another name given to that god, as it kinda is? Will they actually make him a separate character entirely?
I don’t know, but I kinda want to find out.
That’s all for now, mainly because as I stated at the beginning I’m not as knowledgeable on this subject as I would like to be. If you happen to know more about this, please feel free to point out how I got absolutely everything wrong.
Now to wait for more info on this series, and hope it’s as good as the initial trailer made it look like to be. Crunchyroll has shown they actually have what it takes to produce a good adaptation (Tower of God, anyone?), now let’s see if they can manage the same quality with an original one.

Ok so there is one thing in Aztec Mythology that makes me curious about how it would play out in Onyx Equinox season 2 and that is the relationship between Tlaloc and Tezcatlipoca.
If you know anything about Aztec Mythology, you’re probably laughing right now.
For those who don’t know: Tlaloc was the god of the sun in the world of the third sun. The world of the third sun was destroyed because Tezcatlipoca seduced Xochiquetzal, Tlaloc’s wife, and stole her from him. So obviously there’s A LOT of beef there.
But that’s not where this ends.
Tezcatlipoca has four wives; Xochiquetzal, Chicomecoatl (also known as Xilonen), Huixtocihuatl, and Atlatonan.
Xochiquetzal is the goddess of fertility, sexuality, and pregnancy. She was the wife of Tlaloc before Tezcatlipoca snatched her up. So obviously Tlaloc hates Tezcatlipoca for stealing his wife.
Huixtocihuatl is the goddess of salt and is said to be the oldest sister of the rain gods.... which include Tlaloc... So yet ANOTHER woman in Tlaloc’s wife that Tezcatlipoca banged and married.
Atlatonan is a tricky one. There isn’t a lot of information about her, there isn’t even any codex art of her. Some sources say she’s an aspect of Coatlicue and therefore a mother goddess. But more sources say that she’s a goddess of water and coastlines and (guess it)... a daughter of Tlaloc who was ritually drowned....
Tezcatlipoca made off with Tlaloc’s wife, sister, and daughter.... And married all of them......
With Izel and the gang going up against Tezcatlipoca in season 2, I think it’s VERY LIKELY that Tlaloc is going to be a strong ally in their fight out of sheer pettiness.
And I, for one, am going to greatly enjoy seeing this go down.

Theory about this character from Onyx Equinox
Possible SPOILERS below
Tumblr media
This is Xolotl!!! I’m sure about it!!
In the Fifth Sun leyend, the god Xolotl disguised as an axolotl to escape from being sacrificed to the sun.
I bet he’ll find out about his twin brother’s plan to close the underworld, but since he serves Mictlantecutli, he won’t want to take a side. He’s just going to run away disguised like this cute little guy, saving himself from being trapped in the underworld.
Then he eventually will have an encounter with the heroes and get attached to them, so he decides to help them.
That would be an awesome plot twist xD

AMPHIBIA: SEASON 2B TRAILER BREAKDOWN
NEW AMPHIBIA EPISODES!! (Trailer spoilers and speculation! DUH!)
Y’all have NO CLUE how excited I am!! After that huge mid season finale drop, Amphibia fans all around have been waiting for the second half of the season! I did a Speculation post based on the episode titles, and another one based off of the episode loglines for the March drop!
Check them out, cause I will be referencing them as we go!! I’m first gonna do a scene by scene breakdown, then I’m gonna see if my predictions were right, or wrong. So many theories!!! I will also be mentioning the episode titles Matt released in the AmphibiaDirect, so if you don’t want to know, leave now!
If you haven’t seen the trailer yet, click here to see it all!!! Let’s begin shall we!
00:00–00:21: Completely old information and clips from Season 2A that we’ve all seen before with the music box and Sasha-Angst. One thing I did not expect was that this trailer would be so Sasha heavy. I expected her to kinda fade into the background and we’d focus a lot more on the temples, so this makes me have theories I may not have had before.
00:22–00:26: Marcy’s new bird (as teased in the Amphibia-Big City Greens promo). We have two shots with them, one where they are flying down with only a bunch of books that would last a lifetime, or a few minutes with Marcy. The second shot is them flying in the air with Anne and Marcy riding through the sky. I am trying my absolute hardest to not hope for gay then to be disappointed, but c’mon!!! Has no one seen How to Train Your Dragon?!!?!? But Hop Pop is being held in the second shot by the Bird’s talons so I think this is a little more Marcy and Wartwood kind of situation. Maybe somewhere around “Ivy on the Run” with Marcy and her bird being the B Plot.
00:27–00:31: The First Temple. We know from the colours and the shape from the book that it is the First Temple. It seems to have water flowing out of Frog statues’ mouths, and on the temple’s walls there are imagery of brains and a vague Newt Shape reading a book! Definitely talking about wit here! Even all the mushrooms are green, and we know how much Amphibia loves to use colour.
00:31–00:33: The Second Temple! We don’t actually see the Temple, just the archway leading to the Temple. Marcy seems to have the charged green gem on the music box, which is pointing them in the direction of the Temple, very Onyx Equinox-esque.
00:34–00:36: The entrance to the Third Temple. Lava pouring everywhere and pink statues of buff Amphibians? Definitely Sasha, no questions asked. I have no other thoughts about this shot other than the jagged rocks atop of the cave, seems like it could collapse in on itself and cause people to get hurt.
00:36–00:37: Ivy and Sprig jumping on treetops, I think this is from “Ivy on the Run” where Ivy is running from her mother’s strict rules, and Sprig is trying to talk her out of it. They’re so cute! It makes me wanna hold onto them and never let go.
00:38–00:39: Bessie jumping over a ravine with Sprig and Polly at the reins, which is from “Night Riders”, the first episode we’re seeing this Saturday!
00:39–00:40: A First Temple Puzzle where you have to solve a cube to enter the next stage. Seems like Marcy is in “her own little bubble” (heh. sorry i had to) and as she’s solving the cube, the room also moves on its own, with the Plantars being shifted to another side. Kinda like Wulfric’s gym in Pokemon X and Y. This sets interesting character work for Marcy, since she’s known to have issues with connections, but she’s so into knowledge and smartness that she may not realise the issues she’s causing to the people around her.
00:40–00:41: MADDIEEEEEE!!!! Definitely from “Maddie and Marcy”. I feel like they would get together and Marcy would be so into learning about Maddie and creepy magic that they will form a bond. This is how nerds make friends everyone, they find something the other is SUPER invested in and they learn about it. Either that or an extrovert claims them both, and they know each other via association.
00:42–00:43: Giant chicken bat for “Return to Wartwood”. Don’t ask me how I know, I just do. Seems like the Plantars set up a banquet for them, and they’re running away. So shenanigans!
00:44–00:45: Okay, so I initially thought Sasha’s next episode was gonna be in episode 16 (”Toad to Redemption/Barrel’s Warhammer”) and I initially thought that it would be Toad to Redemption, because y’know... Toads. But with Sasha’s pink powers shown in her using that giant warhammer, I think it’s going to be either one of the two, but Sasha is definitely showing up in 216. They don’t seem to be on a train, but the Earth is moving very fast for some reason.
00:45–00:46: The Newt Lady from the Bizarre Bazaar seems to be activating the tippity-top of the Second Temple, with Anne near her. The position of this is high above the clouds, and there is a blue glow coming from the writings/symbols on the ground. Perhaps this is the charging method for the gems on the box.
00:47–00:48: More First Temple stuff! Writing’s on the wall (man these visual puns just write themselves y’know!) and they are in the inside of the temple. Interestingly enough, the main floor is green like the rest of the temple, but the other side (puzzles) seems to have red and blue squares, perhaps representing the heart and strength (blue and pink) which is what the wit lacks.
00:49: The Newt Lady from the Bizarre Bazaar opens a Scroll with the Music box, the three gems (which seemingly came before the box) and three people in coats almost praying to it. This is definitely “After the Rain” with the story of the Music Box being revealed. Cause we still have no idea what “After the Rain” is gonna be about.
00:50: GENERAL YUNNAN!! Scourge of the Sand Wars! Defeater of Ragnar the Wretched! The youngest Newt to ever be named General in the GREAT NEWTOPIAN ARMY!! (Can you tell I stan her? because I stan her.)
Anyways, she seems to be in the first temple or King Andrias’ throne room. I’m mainly assuming this because the temple because the building is blue or because the spires from King Andrias’ throne room are in the way back there, but there are several Toads there defeated on the ground. Either these were people to protect Marcy at the Temple, or this is an episode where all of Grimes’ command are trying to take over Newtopia under Sasha and Grimes’ command. Quite the plausible amount for theories and plot just from a one-second Yunnan shot.
00:51: A chess board with Frog knights shooting lasers at Marcy. Another one of the First Temple’s tricks, or it could be King Andrias’ plot, since we saw him with Chess pieces of Anne and Marcy at the end of “Marcy at the Gates”, so this clip could either be “The First Temple” or “True Colors” and either or are exciting!!
00:52-00:53: A mole comes out of the ground as Mayor Toadstool walks around seemingly trying to please Newtopian guards and soldiers. “Toad to Redemption” now makes complete sense! I called that it would either be Anne and Marcy helping a battle-hardened Toad, or it would be a Sasha episode. I think its the first part, where Newtopian inspectors are coming to suprise visit Mayor Toadstool and inspect if he’s doing a good job taking care of Wartwood, to no one’s surprise find out he’s embezzling money from the town. The episode would be Marcy and Anne helping Toadstool to become better so he doesn’t lose his job as Mayor.
00:53–00:58: We have three shots here, one of each of the girls. Anne looks back in the rain, almost distraught. This is definitely “After the Rain” and I’m not ready for the angst. Marcy is visibly frustrated over chess pieces, this is either a challenge from the Temple or she’s found out about Andrias’ plan. As much as Option 2 is interesting, I think the first one is more realistic. Sasha in the Third Temple, activating her Colour Power and breaking the ground underneath her to a circle. I am constantly terrified by and for Sasha.
00:58–1:00: Polly and Sprig’s silhouettes running in the rain. Also “After the Rain” but still nothing much to say here.
1:00–1:01: Giant tentacles grab Sprig and the Plantars. I have no idea what this is, but it also appeared in the “Night Riders/Return to Wartwood” trailer/promo, so I’m assuming it’s from that episode.
01:02: Sasha is facing off against a giant golem! Probably the Third Temple’s trial.
01:03: Newt Lady from the Bizarre Bazaar reveals the secrets of the Music Box. Definitely an “After the Rain” episode. I did not expect Marcy to be there though, that’s interesting now.
01:04–01:06: Two shots from the Third Temple. First one being Anne having a moment of realisation, and the other with the Golem roaring in front of Anne and Sasha. This freaked me out because wtf??? Sasha and Anne together?? Are they solving it together too??? Interaction equals resolution/conflict/character drama.
01:07–01:12 & 01:17–01:22: So how are we integrating baby Marshanne into this??? As for which episode, I have no idea! But some interesting details in this is that Sasha seems to have been the last out of the three to have joined. Since Anne and Marcy are together crying, while baby Sasha is one on the slide standing up (hehe) for them. Between the first clip and the second, Sasha has a bruise on her forehead, so she may have gotten hurt trying to protect them. They introduce each other and that’s the end of the clip. I’m assuming this is finale material, because otherwise I have no idea where this is coming from or going to.
01:13–01:16: Anne pulls the Plantars in for a hug. Still not sure where this is for, but it is a thing.
01:23–01:28: Two shots of Sasha and Anne, which seemed to have been slowed down to around half speed. Shot one has Anne standing, almost distraught wearing what seems to be Newtopian armour, with Sasha’s foot in the foreground. The second shot is Anne holding her sword at the top of the Newtopian Walls to Sasha who is weaponless and has her hands up in surrender. Smoke is rising from the land below, and Anne looks visibly angry. I have no idea what is happening, but this definitely has to be finale material.
A title card shows Amphibia returning 6th March!! Hype.
01:34–01:45: Of course we need happy stuff to counter ANGST! So we have a bizarre sequence of Frobo making a garden and growing flowers in a matter of seconds. Hop Pop is enthralled by this and welcomes him to the family, and Polly looks at him knowingly. This is a very big development played very casually, since we know nothing about the robot besides his goofy self being able to do this. Frobo is the most cryptic thing this season besides the King’s basement, we also have no information on Frobo so this is a striking change. This will take place in “Friend or Frobo?” and I am stupid hyped!!! I don’t know anything about Frobo and I want to know more!! Also Wartwood is on fire. It’s just a normal Tuesday everybody.
That ends the trailer breakdown!! But I did have some more general theories and thoughts I’ll include here.
Something I did want to mention before we started was the music in the beginning of the non-speaking part of the trailer. To me, it sounded like an epic reprise of John Legend’s “All of Me”, and I’m thinking there’s one of two things happening: one is that the finale song that we’re all crying to is “All of Me” by John Legend, like how Reunion’s was “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers; or, I’m just theorising like a mad person. Who knows!
Also another general observation is the puzzles and how we’ve been prepped for them by “Family Shrub” where each one has puzzles and riddles each person who fits a specific role must solve. Each girl with each of the Temples, and they need each one to deal with their own Temple. Meaning Sasha being at the Third Temple means some form of resolution/character interaction.
As for Sasha, I don’t know if she’s gonna be redeemed necessarily, but I think she might go to the good side and Marcy goes to the bad side. I don’t wanna believe that cause I love Marcy to death, but Season 2 finales are always horrifying before Season 3 finales wrap up nicely. So I’m expecting even more drama than the Season 1 finale. I want all the girls to be happy, and it’s not happening this season for sure. So much excitement!!!
That concludes all my thoughts on the trailer for Season 2B! Let me know what you’re excited for, your thoughts and theories, and if you agree or disagree with what I’ve said here!! So excited!!!!

The Sunbeam Sentinel - Edition 5
House Betelgeuse Finally a Reality! Reception is Mixed to Positive
The construction of House Betelgeuse was completed earlier this era with next to no fanfare. One day it was absent, the next the clan woke to the sight of a crystalspine granite spire rising up from the eastern cliffs. After an inspection by the Tribunes, assisted by Lutia and Willowalk (experts on magical and structural integrity respectively), the structure was deemed sound. After a precautionary week to let the structure set and settle, it was deemed safe for dragons to inhabit.
While not all members of the clan have chosen to live there, it's generally agreed upon that the structure is awe-inspiring. The magic used for its creation is rare enough to make House Betelgeuse a living monument regardless of utility. Orogenesis--the creation of mountains--is a magic gifted to Earthshaker's firstborn, or those with his favor. Moyo, the architect responsible for this amazing feat, was either gifted or inherited this power. Through magic circle theory, he has tuned this raw force of creation into a precise and highly valued lair construction ability. It was not unreasonable at all in the scope of Moyo's power to generate what is effectively an artificial crystalspine complete with dozens of individual lair spaces built into the stone.
His artistry shows in a spectacular sense for where light will fall over the day, and in the perfectly measured crescent of open air between the front facade and the hovering Obsidian Disc. The view from the upper levels is equally fantastic; the highly reflective nature of the onyx and the domed ceiling sees that visibility is still very good from on high. Enyi is already reportedly hard at work with several dragons including Kea, Fortune, Clover, and Alchemilla to furnish House Betelgeuse and further complement the already well made structure with trees and lamps and a functional fountain.
Unfortunately, the cost of employing someone with such a coveted ability, especially one with Moyo's obvious quality and perfectionism, is steep. The Queen has already promised that Moyo intends to stay and she will have him see to House Perihelion's construction as well, but it may be a long wait before the funds to do so are amassed. This has left some dragons with mixed feelings, but largely it is understood why House Betelgeuse had to come first.
Even inside its celestine chamber, the Chalcedony Seat has caused a subtle shift in support for House Betelgeuse. Dragons who once gave the House their unwavering support and saw need for it still do, but hesitate to actually live in the presence of the Seat. This is especially prominent among older dragons who were there for the Exodus, and in parents with young Light-born offspring.
Heaven and Dantalion are dragons of the old clan who have decided as a pair to not live in House Betelgeuse. The fore had this to say:
"I don't even know if I consider it especially unsafe. Tungsten's no-nonsense and always has been. If she says it's safe, I absolutely believe her. It's beautiful, it really is; but it brings back a lot of bad memories for me."
Dantalion kept hold of Heaven's hand, but his opinion was slightly different: "It just makes me homesick for my mother and the rest of the coven. They're still out in the Strand, and I don't think I'd be able to handle living near a portal to where they are without wanting to sneak through. So I'm just going to stay with Heaven."
Dragons of interest who have decided to wait for House Perihelion include: Miscedence, Pistis, Enyi, and Hart.
When asked why a dragon so obviously a bone-deep Arcanite would refuse House Betelgeuse, the old progenitor merely said "I don't belong there." and refused to comment further.
Other dragons have managed to make cozy homes elsewhere and have already voiced their intention to not live in either of the proposed Houses. This naturally includes dragons who call the district on Bramble Step home, most of the main-thoroughfare shop owners of Noon Point who made their businesses their homes, and the Queen and Lady Judge--both claiming it would be a detriment to their impartiality to choose one of the two houses. Naturally, Arcanus and Bestialcian have accommodations close to the Queen for her protection, so they will not be joining a house either.
But not all related to House Betelgeuse is bad news.
Four of the Five Tribunes are calling the location home--Miscedence reportedly choosing to wait on Perihelion because it will be the House that calls for newer ideas and innovation that could use his presence. Even the affectionately named People's Tribune, Equinox, has chosen Betelgeuse for her residence. Public response to the House has benefited, as in addition to the Hero of Carrion Canyon, Fletch--the Priestess of Blackened Bones--is also making her home in the spire.
Couples old and new are moving with their families: Kea and Iblis; Saber and Galbana; and most recently Rubedo and Alala. Paradise, Perilous, Opalite, and Bruma are making their homes there as well, raising confidence that the House will be properly defended in an emergency in addition to Lutia being present to manage the Celestial Vault and the Chalcedony Seat within. And perhaps the most interesting thing is that dragons are appearing as dragons again within the House.
Due to Noon Point and the Courtyard of Five Lights having such close proximity to the Summerlands, it has long been required that anyone seeking to pass through it assume a humanoid form to prevent the destruction of local beastclan land. As a result of this and the much lower cost (and simpler execution) of construction associated with accommodating the more compact forms, many dragons ceased assuming their full shapes. But House Betelgeuse, being so massive and so like a true crystalspine, is a different matter altogether. It is the subject of excited talk among dragons looking to add infrastructure whether now might not be the time to go back to building things with full sized dragons in mind.
If nothing else, House Betelgeuse has provided a place where dragons feel they can be dragons again.
Return to the Observatory: A Somber Visit with an Unexpected Outcome
Shortly after the opening of House Betelgeuse, Camellia returned to the old territory to continue caring for the graves. The Saint of Fallen Stars also spoke with the Arcanist, relaying a message that Queen Telos was to come to the Observatory. She was also permitted to take a small group with her--dragons who have, until now, never had the opportunity to see where their loved ones were buried.
Our reporters didn't wish to pry given the personal nature of the night, but Stellaria gave a brief statement, saying that it was her obligation as the only one who went but wasn't there to grieve.
"I could tell the others around me were sort of exhaling," she recalled. "My grandfather, when he met me for the first time, he attached to me right away. He thought every part of the life he made with my grandmother was gone. Seeing me, a lot of complex feelings were released all at once. I think everyone at the graves were the same. it’s been a long time, there wasn’t much crying, but I think everyone was finally able to let go of some things they’d been carrying."
While the grave visitors paid their respects, Junior and Zo reportedly went ahead of Telos to the Observatory. Like the Queen, Junior had never returned to those heights after the events that sparked the Exodus. If respects would be paid to his father and siblings, it was the only sensible place to go. However, they found something unexpected there.
A tundra from the Southern Icefield was reported to be standing at the Observatory on their arrival, and in his possession was the ring passed from the Radiant to the Geminids. Junior, being a tundra himself, caught the scent of it, and finding it in a stranger's paws briefly lost control of his magic. Queen Telos arrived on site shortly after and took the wounded tundra into custody.
The tundra Renat, now known to be one of Icewarden's Chosen, claimed to have encountered the ring entirely by coincidence half-buried in the dirt before the Observatory doors. He has since returned to his mission in the Isles, and the ring has been returned to Queen Telos.
The queen returned alone to the Observatory several nights later, but no official edicts or word from the Arcanist has been revealed. She was sighted at the Sundial Brewery that night, so it is possible the visit and any exchange she might have had with the Arcanist were entirely personal.
Parhelion's Shame: The Imperial who chose to become a Pearlcatcher
On the very same night that the graves were being visited for the first time, a request for a pearlcatcher scroll was fulfilled. The request came from Bramble Step, and while there has been no indication as to who the intended recipient was, it never made it. Qaseem was found covered with a dark magic that strongly resembled--though we have been assured by the Tribune of Magic it was not--a Shade infection. While it is still uncertain what the exact nature of the spell was, it was broken like any other, and Qaseem was no worse for the wear.
What is certain is that during the time he was frozen by the spell, the pearlcatcher scroll was taken and utilized by a young dragon named Eosphoros.
A dragon who, before the use of the scroll, was an imperial gifted with Parhelion's Glow: the light of Weaver's glory, present only in her firstborn imperials or the direct offspring of two of the same.
Eosphoros was born of two such firstborn light imperials residing in Hewn City. Despite this illustrious lineage accurately considered unique among all the flights of Sornieth, Eosphoros--now calling themselves only Eos--could not handle the pressure of living as an Imperial. The unpredictable lifespan and the complex culture around the ever-present threat of returning from death as Emperors are an undiscussed burden the species bears. It is unsurprising that some would seek relief and choose to live as another species.
Eos escaped into the Hewn City with the scroll shortly before the grave-visitors returned. Stellaria, a close friend to the once-imperial, gave chase with Carnelian and delivered a willing Eos into Penitence's custody shortly after dawn.
During their trial, Eos openly expressed regret for their actions, though only where it concerned the theft. In spite of uproarious gossip, the outrage of an ever-rising number of Sunbeam Ruins locals, and being considered the source of fresh friction between the two light species, Eos reports being more at ease than they ever have been.
Judge Azricai deemed the matter a crime born of major psychological and emotional strain. Eos will not escape penalization, but they will have mandated therapy for a currently unspecified term. In light of the small size of the inventory sector and the targeted nature of the crime, she also judged that it would be safe to allow Eos to return to their occupation as inspector at the Marigold Food Bank. However, come and go access to the vaults and warehouses would be barred to them until their punishment was ended.
On behalf of Margravine Caress, Astrit declared the loss of the pearlcatcher scroll a personal one rather than a loss affecting Bramble Step accounts. In light of the outstanding circumstances, she has only demanded the repayment of the funds at a 25% penalty mark-up.
It is only a rumor, but supposedly she even offered Eos a job at the Step if they didn’t want such a large debt hanging over their head.
Children of The Solar Eclipse:
Only a short while ago, Aphaster experienced its first Solar Eclipse in the Summerlands. Thanks to expert handling of the border by Bramble Step, Aphaster and its neighbors saw relative peace from marauding Shadow dragons. However, three dragons have come to the territory as a result:
Ilkilides, who resides solely at Bramble Step and has only been seen in Aphaster local after nightfall. The shadow nocturne is clearly godchosen, but has not stated their purpose for staying on the border of Light and Shadow. Margravine Caress has claimed responsibility for him.
Jorah, born during the Eclipse and found further west along the borderland than Bramble Step extends. Unlike Ilkildes, Jorah is Light-born and still developing as a child would. He is being cared for by Clan Feldspar, where he has imprinted on Junior. Zo has wholeheartedly accepted the mysterious hatchling as his son, as the Queen has happily accepted him as her grandson. Now more than ever everyone is quietly wondering when the two will get married.
Pyrite, an eclipse-born from the Starfall Isles. The young skydancer hails from the royal family of Moon Mist--a clan of moon worshipers living in Arcane territory. Her love of chronicles and recording history, in addition to potential diplomacy between Aphaster and Moon Mist, has brought her to the Summerlands. Currently she is feverishly consuming every bit of knowledge that can be gained from the Starlight Museum, and has already expressed interest in joining the Sunbeam Sentinel. There are plans for her to have her own more regular column detailing community news.

K'in hours w/ Spoilers
K'in's voice actor, Juan Arturo Maldonado, recalled being worried that he was gonna become a villain, and I'm over here thinking about how -
K'in saw how in order to save him Xanastaku had basically killed someone. But despite knowing that, when Izel had that gash on his back, K'in offered his own energy to save him, even though he's the only one who knows that by doing that he could die. K'in was ready to die for Izel.
I've been in a lot of fandoms, i know if this one was bigger K'in would be made a villain by a lot of fanfic (especially for Yunzel) writers. (Not shading Yunzel, they're my favorite, it's just the canon dynamic of these three could be oversimplified to that.) Maybe that has happened and it's just that i don't know Spanish. Let me know.
I wanna be clear that if and when the K'in Leaves Theory happens, it's because he has good reasons. He was told "hey just close these gates to save humanity", so he did that, and it ended up all being for nothing when Izel chose to not close the last one. Izel had good reasons to do that, including saving K'in, and I do think K'in knows Izel's reasoning, because Izel explained it. K'in just has a different perspective, neither are wrong.
I don't wanna get ahead of myself and talk to much about the K'in Leaves Theory, since I'm working on another bigger post solely about it, but my point is, even then, he's not a bad guy.

Hang on I think this line just may have accidentally foreshadowed something.
"I have only days to close these gates."
Tumblr media
Hey, wait, we've already passed at least a day in one episode. How long is this show gonna run.
Unless, closing the gates isn't gonna cover the whole story. I wonder if maybe seeing the gods as such assholes plays into a bigger story.
Maybe after the gates are closed, there might be a revolution against the gods. ( Would have honestly been fun to see in Blood of Zeus ). Perhaps they refuse to bring Nelli back.

Why is K'in the best and funnier twin?
Tumblr media
I gotchu, king. Sorry this took so long to write.
Some miscellaneous K'in thoughts I've thinking lately (season 2 speculation, so there's spoilers for the finale!):
Assuming that the K'in Leaving Theory is true, I think the place that K'in might leave to is back to Ox Te' Tun. At the beginning of the series, Yaotl does threaten to eat the twins if they don't go on this journey, but they were also already planning on going on an adventure. They (thought they) were ready to be heroes. But then we see at the end of the series, it seems like K'in kind of wants to just get this all over with and go home.
In his mind, if Izel had just closed the gate, then they could do just that, they wouldn't have to go on this whole new journey being set up. That isn't totally accurate, because I don't think that K'in has really processed that his home has been destroyed, and that they don't actually anywhere to go, but this is the way he sees the situation and that's why he's so upset with Izel.
I absolutely love the idea of this character arc. K'in starting wanting to run away from home, but that changing to him being forced to run away from home, and wanting to go home more than anything - i think a lot of people can relate to that. Maybe not in the same context with the death gods and all that, but for me personally, when I was 15 I had Pinterest boards about moving out, and now that I'm 19 that's the last thing I wanna do.
Thank you for the ask, thank you for letting me ruin your sarcasm by adding 10 cups of meta to it 💚
