I was thinking about how, in fanfictions and in the fandom in general, Elrond is often depicted as a pure Noldorin lord, if not a die hard Fëanorian. And while I do enjoy Fëanorian!Elrond, the more I think about it the more I am convinced Elrond is not the fëanorian one of the twins. Elros is. Elros who adopted seven eight pointed stars as the heraldic device of his whole dynasty, a symbol still used 6000 years after his death. Elros who had Quenya be the official language of Númenor. Elros who decided to leave Arda for an unknown fate after his death; not Everlasting Darkness but not the rebirth in the bliss of Valinor either. He choose to go to a place Elves aren’t supposed to go, just like Fëanor and his sons went back to Beleriand. Elros, the mortal man, who decided to forge his own path in the world.
And I am not saying Elrond didn’t, because Eru knows how much strength, patience and stubbornness Elrond must have to become who he is in LotR. But when I first re-read LotR after reading the Silm, he did not strike me as Fëanorian at all (except for the no oath swearing rule that seems to apply in Rvendell). In fact, Elrond, and all three of his children, are defined by being half-Elven. Elrond is so much at the same time they had to creat a whole new category for him. He is described as kind as summer in The Hobbit, but also old and wise, and his friendly banter with Bilbo in FotR show he is also merry and full of humour. Elrond is both Elf and Man despite his immortality, and this is made quite clear in the text.
But. If I had to link him to an Elven clan, I’d say Elrond is more Sinda than Noldor, and even that is up to debate. Rivendell, this enchanting valley hidden from evil thanks to his power, is like a kinder version of Doriath. Yet, the name of Last Homely House and Elrond’s boundless hospitality make me think of Sirion: Rivendell is a place where lost souls can find s home, where multiple cultures live along each other in friendship and peace.
In FotR, Elrond introduces himself as the son of Eärendil and Elwing, claiming both his lineages instead of giving only his father’s name as is tradition amongst the Elves. It may be a political move, or it may be a genuine wish to claim his duality, his otherness, or even both at the same time. But from what is shown of Elrond in LotR, he seems to lean heavily in the symbols and heritage from the Sindar side of his family, rather than the Noldor one. I already gave the comparison with Doriath, but it seems history repeats itself as Arwen, said to be Lúthien reborn, chooses a mortal life. Yet Elrond doesn’t make the same mistake as Thingol by locking his daughter in a tower and sending her suitor to a deathly quest. Yes, he asks Aragorn to first reclaim the throne of Gondor before marrying Arwen, but this isn’t a whim on his part or an impossible challenge. Aragorn becoming king means that Middle-Earth is free from the shadow if Sauron and Arwen will live in peace and happiness. Which sounds like a reasonable wish for a parent to me.
Anyways, I went on a tangent, what strikes me with Elrond is his multiple identity. Elrond certainly has habits or traits coming from his upbringing amongst the Fëanorians, and he loved Maglor despite everything. The fact he is a skilled Minstrel shows he did learn and cultivate skills taught by a Fëanorion, that he is not rejecting them. There is a passage at the end of RotK, in the Grey Havens chapter, where Elrond is described carrying a silver harp. Is this a last relic from Maglor? Possible.
But while Elros choose the path of mortality and showed clear Noldorin influences in the kingdom he built, Elrond is happy in his undefined zone he lives in. He is an Elf, he is a Man, he is Sinda and Noldo and heir to half a dozen lost cultures and two crowns. He is the warrior and the healer, the only one of his kind in Middle-Earth. And that is why I will never tire of this character and I love so much fanworks depicting him as nuanced and multiple yet always recognisable as Elrond.

been thinking abt piaj au while showering a few mins ago and (cuz i love general mcnamara lmao) about how peip would fit in here.
and my mind, high on hot water, thought there were two options, both funny as fuck to me: either a bunch of strays who are extremely dangerous (from the words of wiggly) and can cause (oh no!) disobedience and rebellous character in the blorbs and therefore need to be kept away at all costs; OR, much funnier to me, i can totally imagine jon and his peeps like one of those animal mom karens under animal vids that go like "LOOK AT THAT CAT IT LOOKS SAD MEANING THE OWNER TAKES CARE OF THEM BADLY WE NEED TO SAVE THE CAT!" and the LiB are like ah shit those pests again (only this time the LiB ofc only think theyre correct when its the other way around and none of those enclosures are safe for human keeping. maybe webby gets a solid pass lmao)

Oh boy, I’m Thinkin about a lotta Blorbos rn so I’ll just talk about the blorbs you mentioned 😭
The more I play with Ammon the more angry and vengeful he gets, and idk if it’s because he’s having to be around Kogha now or not but it’s a yikes like this poor guy 😭 he does NOT like the yiga and he does NOT like Kogha (tho he will warm up to him). It’s hard tho, he’s been through a lot cuz of the yiga so I can’t blame him too much. But he’s strugglin fr
Gosh Rusl is such a beloved. I’m just thinking about strangers across eras and someone kills a wolf and he panics a little cuz even tho he KNOWS it’s not Link the thought that it could be freaks him out. Like idk about you, but I get some intrusive thoughts and I imagine that Rusl just… has thoughts about the time he shot Link in the leg, like what if he didn’t move in time, what if Midna didn’t stop him, he could’ve died, and Rusl would’ve lost him forever and it would’ve been HIS fault. And so he struggles a lot with that (hence why he’d rather get bitten than to try to fight a wolf)
Twi Link…. This guy needs therapy. I’ve had many ideas where Kori is introduced to Ordon and it’s intense, his relationship with everyone especially Illia is very tense after what happened and he spirals pretty bad. But I won’t write about that cuz I don’t feel like I could write that very accurately. Honestly, Link is going through a huge crisis rn cuz after his adventure he didn’t want to settle down. He didn’t want to stay in Ordon and to have kids and all that, hence why his relationship with Illia didn’t work out. What he really wanted to do was to just travel and explore the world with Midna by his side, but after Midna left he just kinda laid around wasting his life away. And then he ended up having a kid. But the thing about kids is that everything with them is an adventure, and Link is able to heal more, but yeah he needs help. Poor guy.
And Kori… oh my sweet baby boy Kori. Here’s some things I discovered about him: he loves clothes except for skirts, he loves food, and he loves cats. Tho he’s adventurous, he’s actually quite timid and is less rebellious unlike Rela. I realize that he might grow up with self esteem issues cuz some people think he’s a monsters simply cuz he’s half Twili so uh, oops. And even tho he doesn’t remember it, I’m sure his body remembers being attacked by that advisor, tho idk if this is accurate to childhood trauma. But I’ve seen people talk about how their bodies remember certain things even tho they don’t, and I’m not sure if he’d actually remember what happened so. Feel free to correct me on that.
Lastly Sky. He comes off as a calm guy but it extremely chaotic and dumb. Like everyone thinks he’s responsible with the younger ones (especially the chaos trio) and he is to an extent, but he’s very chaotic and summoned bees to their camp so he could get larvae so (it was an accident of course, he’d never do that on purpose, and Wild, Windy, and Hyrule kinda helped sooooo), but yeah, he’s a little crazy and sassy. Tho I’m excited to explore his arm, he uses a whip because swords hurt his arm too much, all except the master sword of course :>

Happy Blorbo Blursday! If you had to pick only one of your blorbos to survive and get a happy ending, which would you pick?
Oooh, that is a tough one, mostly because I have not even considered what kind of mortifying death game shenanigans have to happen for there to be only one survivor among my dear blorbs, but if I had to choose... it would probably be One, honestly.
I feel like I should perhaps explain why my answer isn't one of my Very Good Protagonist Boys but rather the kinda scary one who's definitely Up To Something. Why not one of the boys is comparatively simple, in that I don't envision an ending where only one of them survives to be particularly happy for them. Given how they're both neurotics by disposition odds are good they wouldn't ever get all the way over the loss, so that's a bummer right there.
Now, why One? In part because of character development stuff I'm not prepared to share quite yet, but also because she's been dealt a pretty terrible hand by life (which is to say by your humble author). There is also some delicious irony to One surviving it all considering she herself estimates that the possibility of her surviving the chains and ripples of conflict that'll make up Hearts In Clockwork is very low. On one level, in fact, One is banking on dying before she has to figure out if her actions in pursuit of her goals are actually justified and how to live her life in a world no longer constrained by the abovementioned bad hand.

IT'S OUR BOY'S BIRTHDAY!!! I wanted to ask, if you are up for it, to write about the moment you fell in love with Shigaraki. You have said he is different from the type of character you usually fall for, so what was it about him? Was it a scene, an episode? Describe it! Also, what are you doing today to make yourself happy? You deserve it, whatever it is!
Unfortunately I did not get to answer this on his birthday when you sent it.
BUT
It was the mall scene.
I liked him immediately when I saw him at USJ, but the mall scene reeled me in to him being a favorite.
I really don't know why...I honestly think it's because of how WEIRD he was in that scene. How out-of-left-field his behavior was. I really was wondering wtf his deal was. Like who forces a therapy session on their enemy. That was my first thought, and I also immediately wanted them to be BFFs after that scene too LOL.
And the more I look back at that scene...the more weirdness and hilarity I notice about it. But that's a different conversation.
I meant it when I said he doesn't fit my normal blorbo criteria. Comparing him to previous ones like...
Kanda Yuu from D.Gray-Man, Kyo Sohma from Fruits Basket, Edward Elric and Roy Mustang from Fullmetal Alchemist, Tamaki Suoh from Ouran HSHC, Sarumi duo from K Project….
Out of all the characters I've had serious brainrot over, he is absolutely the outlier. The one he's most similar to is Kanda and even that is a stretch. They're both just beautiful and have long beautiful hair and are surrounded by death and tragedy. Other than that, Tomura has nothing in common with my previous blorbs.
And honestly even my favs since starting bnha in other manga all tend to follow my old pattern. So Tomura really is just an outlier lol.
It’s new for me to be obsessed with a character where you start off not being super sure if they’ll get a happy ending or not, but you desperately want them to and won’t accept it any other way. All of those listed above either 100% were destined for a happy ending, or if it’s Kanda 100% destined for bittersweet death lmao
Tomura is like—he’s the type of character on the surface who gets defeated and dies in the end. On the surface. In full detail, he’s the character who gets what he wants and needs, even if you’re undecided on whether he should or not.
He’s definitely different from my usual, and it’s been a nice change of pace. Touya and Toga are also in this category.

thinking about beyond birthday breaking out of prison (probably by faking his death or something of the sort) and then he shows up at taskforce HQ dressed as L
i dont normally make longish posts but i brain dumped so im putting a cut
this post is very disorganized O_O
why hasn’t B been thrown back in jail?
career criminal ?? hes a wammy kid maybe L keeps him around for the kira case as another brain to use on the contingency he cant leave the HQ building and if he doesn't help he goes back to the supermax (i just want my blorbos to blorb yknow) and i dont think L would intrinsically dislike B, an excuse to keep him close and rehabilitatable might make L feel better about the entire situation with his first two succsessors.
B would be both a major suck ass and a complete nuisance to L, anything to keep his attention and not necessarily because he likes L but because he likes bothering him incessantly. He’s still fascinated with L but working alongside him might make him less fantastical and untouchable as B’s upbringing would have made him out to be and that in it of itself is fascinating. There’s new previously unseen buttons to push. L would likely not engage or engage just enough to get Beyond back to working and give in when the workday is over.
he’d still want to one up L in some way though, maybe not to the extremes he used to but they’d get in spats sometimes trying to untangle the case so they end up cutting the string to pieces.
I think they’d also speak in languages besides english and japanese to talk about anything that could be related back to wammy’s.
L would also be perturbed by B’s instance on dressing like him but would be satisfied with at least a change in shirt color for practicality in telling them apart.
Matsuda wouldn't be able to tell the difference between L and B and B would get a kick out of lulling him into the false sense of security before doing something deranged

memory-less Light would be quite disturbed at the fact this serial killer just gets to hang around. I know Light seemed pretty ok with Wedy and Aiber but their crimes are aren’t on the same scale as murdering a whole child and two adults. I debate on whether he’d make a fuss about it but in the end Beyond is better under surveillance there at HQ than in a prison he’s proven to be escape-able.
B might grow on him a little but there would be some distance put on by Light. Light also gets annoyed with B’s antics to bug L and therefore distracting from the case. They definitely get in a tussle once or twice because of it but Light stops picking physical fights when Beyond threatens to bite him. Which ends up in B provoking Light more as he’s also quite fascinating.
Kira Light though would probably piece together that he has the shinigami eyes and try to kill him alongside L or snatch this feller up as a pawn for the new world.
I much prefer the latter option because of how evile they'd be together but that is another post.

what blorbo shall i blorb now... regulus babygirl black, perhaps? i don't include this in all my fics but i heavily enjoy regulus being 1 inch taller than sirius and holding it over his head. i will almost always write him with curly hair lol. he's fucking brutal but he's also fucking pathetic. he turns into a wet sock when james smiles at him but he'd scoop out someone's eye and crush in in his palm. he learns languages for fun and is really good at picking them up. very musically inclined as well. piano and violin r my faveeee hcs but also drummer regulus. yeah. tatted to hell and back. thanks for that one wywm reg. would kill for sirius and sirius would die for him. renee walkercore 'bad person trying really hard to be a good person'. once he falls in love he's so blinded by it that it's hard to see straight. he's always rational, except where the people he loves (platonic and romantic) are concerned. mi amor <3 mi pequeño zorra <3

So anyway, Hi! I’m @/wonkuoyeromeht on Twitter! Mostly I play FFXIV so you’re going to see lots of that. Lots of Torri! Maaaybe you'll find some other fandom stuff but I doubt it. Torrian: Non-binary disaster cat and my WoL. They’re married to @hallowed-ffxiv's Revien. I love them with all my heart and soul. They’re a beach kitty, a bit of a dumbass, and extremely gender-fluid. They use fantasia-carrots from the loporrits to adjust their gender according to how they’re feeling that day.
Autreaux: Duskwight healer and all-around sweetheart. He’s a bit naive and soft-spoken, but has an excellent bedside manner and is very gentle. He has a fairy named Lotus and a carbuncle named Buncle and yes, they’re a little different from your usual SCH/SMN pets. Autreaux is attached at the hip to @hallowed-ffxiv’s Alfonse and…
Giasone (Gia): Not-quite-Voidsent denizen of the 13th and Autreaux’s shard/RPR avatar. Gia is also the son of Revien’s 13th shard. So like, there’s a whole tangled web here.
Unicorn Storm (Uni): In-character, she is Torri’s niece (they call her cousin!) and she is the character I play and stream to my fiancee so she can watch the story. She’s about 10ish and all her characterization/appearance decisions are my fiancees. I post lore with her blessing!
Saidette: A friend from Autreaux’s past and current “Queen” of a group of bandits operating in the Black Shroud. She’s extremely overprotective of her people and loyal to a degree that’s probably not healthy. She’s also a hearer. So there’s that.
Seifer: Yes, the one from FFVIII. He ended up in Eorzea during the Calamity after falling through a hole in Time Compression and landing on Sicard’s head. He’s a bit older and a pirate these days. See also: my current in-game obsession.

Thinking about how Elrond has so many complicated and conflicted relationships during his life. Love grew between Maglor and him, it is said in the Silmarillion, but just how much of it did survive the Ages? Elrond is fundamentally kind. Kind as summer is the key element of his characterisation in the Hobbit, so I think he would never hate the sons of Fëanor. Resent yes, feel abandoned, rage, all of this yes. But even if he does stop to love them at some point in his life, I am convinced he would still have pity and kindness for them, and cherish the good memories of his childhood despite the bitterness of Maglor leaving Elros and him.
And that’s not even touching the feeling he must have about Elwing and Eärendil! In FotR, Elrond introduces himself as the son of Eärendil and Elwing, showing how he wants to acknowledge both his heritages. But he has had roughly 6000 years to come to term with that and, even if he managed to accept the grief of loosing his birth parents, how does he react to meeting them in Valinor? It would be awkward and long and painful at times but Elrond would try his best to connect with his parents, as good friends and kin if not as close family at the very least.
And what about his grandparents? Idril and Tuor who are but a myth to him, maybe a few stories told by Glorfindel. Were Dior and Nimloth re-embodied and, if so, how does Elrond feel toward them?
So many dynamics possible, so many unanswered questions!

Tris doesn't really enjoy Noa's music taste and prefers high energy boppy pop songs, but he likes it because Noa likes it, and he has all her playlists saved. the especially loud yell-y metal songs are fantastic for blocking out auditory hallucinations with the added benefit of making him think about his best friend and how sweet of a person she is :3
after the story's events, Kai, Tris and Shara go on a roadtrip around Australia together :3c Noa was all "pfft well you're welcome to ask Tris to come along but he won't, he doesn't like travel" and Kai was like "wanna fuckin bet" and made the most detailed colour coded itinerary and route map with every single possible necessary note on it so that everything is Planned and Safe. like Maximum Effort trip planning. so that Tris feels safe enough to finally dip his toes into going on Adventures :3ccc

Shara WILL not leave the house without some article of floral clothing, commonly a scarf or socks. if you ever don't know what to get her for her birthday anything floral is a good bet. or any cool novelty rubik's cube. if you can find her a floral rubik's cube I think you'd win her friendship for life

Projecting/rambling on neurodivergence and "masked" characters
About this post.
This hit me deeeeeep. I am most likely not autistic, but I have ADHD. I wasn't friendless all my life, but socializing was and still is a crazy, uphill fucking battle in terms of seeming "normal."
Before Touchstarved I was very passionate against using the word "masks" to describe people changing depending on who they're with (e.g. with different friends/friend groups or family vs not). It suggests fakeness, being plastic, false appearances, deception—there was nothing I hated more than the idea of being fake and dishonest.
Not proud to admit you could consider I've argued about this.
"No, masks are fake. I like to think of people as gems instead—showing different facets. You'll see one side but it isn't any less real than the other sides."
I wanted to believe the me that fit in was "real." That I wasn't "tricking" people.
And it's hilarious. Because if I wasn't so "fake," why did I always leave groups exhausted? Sadder? More frustrated? Angry? Lonelier?
Enter Touchstarved with the FAKEST MOTHERFUCKING BITCH decorated with MASKS and liking MASQUERADES: my most hated fucking sociological concepts.
So because of this dumb slut, I faced what I hated: dramaturgy (basically, using "masks" and "performances" to describe social behavior).
And that's how I'm realizing and accepting...alright yeah okay. Maybe I've struggled with being freely myself with people. And now that post comes along. Maybe I wasn't deceiving people so much as I just wanted to be loved.
Ahh, Leander. He's the embodiment of all this. He will probably forever be someone who is "masked" by default (Red Spring Studio: "You can't fix them"). But at one point his mask will probably fall off (for better or for worse)—maybe on less wholesome terms than the post describes. And I'm excited for that.
(Side note: he's not my first blorbo in this genre of blorbs. I had a Mando phase. Loved that he was fully armored and loved the fics where this paired with vulnerability was a core theme.)
