Olbrich Botanical Gardens Engagement Session in Madison
Stewart and Angela's summertime Olbrich Botanical Gardens engagement session in Madison - including photos across the street at Lake Monona!
Hello and happy Friday, friends!! Today I’m sharing all about Stewart and Angela’s engagement session at Olbrich Botanical Gardens. We did this session on a busy summer day, in the middle of the afternoon. Normally I don’t like to do sessions earlier than about an hour before sunset, especially during the summer! But, luckily Olbrich has a ton of open shade so it made it a little easier to shoot…

Hi! Strange question but I just saw your post about Madison and I’ll be going there to the ISMB conference mid July (woop woop!). I’ve never been to the US before and I’m a bit overwhelmed with planning. Would you be willing to share some recommendations on how to fill my free time? Ideally stuff that I could do without a car 🤔 of course if you’re still there as well I’d love to join for a hike!
There's lots of fun non-outdoorsy things to do near the Monona Terrace, like museums and meandering around State St and the capitol building. There's not a ton of hiking nearby, but Picnic Point and the UW-Madison Arboretum are not too far away if you were to rent a bike. It also can be lovely just to walk along Lake Monona. The Olbrich Botanical Gardens are also fun. I should still be around!

Fall Engagement Session at Olbrich Botanical Gardens
Fall Engagement Session at Olbrich Botanical Gardens
There might not be anything more beautiful than Wisconsin in the fall (except for maybe Wisconsin in the winter, spring or summer, haha!). I love all the fall colors, the bright oranges, browns and yellows. And going to Olbrich Botanical Gardens in the fall? INCREDIBLE. I can foresee doing a ton of sessions here! I loved hiking around with Paige and Brad for their fall engagement session at…

my local botanical garden had their corpse flower (Amorphophallus titanum) bloom yesterday. they advertise it by putting a giant sign outside that says "BIG STINKY FLOWER" and their visiting hours. I didn't get to see it this time because the line was around the block and an estimated 4 hour wait, so I drew this fan art instead :)
