Oh yeah tsuna absolutely would be a hypocrite and it would be so intersting to see them having a serious fight over it.
Especially bc, tsuna ALREADY as a 13/14 year old doesnt wanna be involved in fights and the like, he just wants to be a fucking teen please leave me alone, but when he's older hes probably even MORE terrified of what they've been through as kids. As a teen when he saw 15 yo lambo he was like "oh yeah he can handle this... Maybe... Probably... Perhaps???"
But the older you get the more you realise what a fucking dystopian nightmare it is to believe fucking teenagers could be in a war, no matter how powerful they end up being or how successful! Most of the shounen protags are AT LEAST in Highschool, Tsuna is a FIRST YEAR IN MIDDLESCHOOL, BABY GOT BARELY OUT OF HIS TWEENS
So while yeah its hypocritical tsuna also has the experience and hindsight now to realize NAH UH NO NO NO NOT HAPPENING NOPE THAT IS A FETUS
Not that Lambo would ever accept that bc yeah its his big brother and (idk how common this is i am an only child and never had friends with siblings) its (maybe) common for kids to look up to their older siblings in a way especially when they are far older and tsuna has done some really amazing stuff. He just doesnt get the whole "too young" for the fight thing, especially bc his background is already mafia related and the Bovino let this 5 YEAR OLD run around with GRANADES AND ROCKET LAUNCHERS.

No but srsly i just think tsuna is the very first person that actually brings up this concept in lambos life. Even Nana never sees whats going on around her as any kind of dangerous, even kids his age are nonchalant about it, fucking yamamoto may see a kid in him but he rolls with almost anything, gokudera just shows him disdain which is not exactly concern (in the beginning)
So its JUST Tsuna that looks at this five year old and says "Absolutely fucking not"
I mean technically also Haru but i dont think he registers that bc she just generally coddles the babies.
So Tsuna, his big brother, the one he looks up to the most, does not acknowledge him as a fighter. And while lambo doesnt see Tsuna as his boss, I do think when he grows older it WILL become more and more of an issue between both of them.

A real fight about this topic between Lambo and Tsuna would actually be so interesting though, you're so right. In this case, Tsuna cannot be reasoned with. As you mentioned, the older he gets the more he will look at being 15 years old as being a FETUS. His stress already just skyrockets whenever Lambo is ANYWHERE near the battlefield, he becomes absolutely belligerent (Shimon arc, future, and letting himself get disqualified in Varia) Tsuna is definitely the one most protective of Lambo, though Gokudera is a good second place even Gokudera doesn't realize that is a child though tbf in a world where the strongest are infants I do not blame Gokudera for not blinking an eye.

TSUNA IS THE ONLY ONE LIKE "please for gods sake stay at home my god please please" Its even funnier when you consider the only reason he trusts TYL I-Pin to protect anyone is bc she becomes 1 year older than him through the bazooka. SKJNG this is why TYL Lambo is also called Adult Lambo in his head. But yes, this idea would ABSOLUTELY disintegrate the moment my boy tsuna leaves his teen ages. I think the idea that this will be an area of tension for Lambo and Tsuna is so cool, because oh my god!! Lambo wants to be there. Despite his age, he is rightfully Vongola's Guardian of Lightning and he wants to hurry up and catch up!! Especially when you take into account of what I said about 20yl, like that's a Lambo that loses everyone!!!! Imagine the absolute stress on Lambo's brain when these thoughts flourish in his mind, and then he's got his big brother who would see him in a training room and go "WHAT ARE U DOING HERE. GET OUT?????? DO NOT TOUCH THE POINTY SPEAR THAT IS CHROMES" It's such absolute tasty content and I am more than happy to oblige with the Tsuna/Lambo thoughts. They're so important to me <3

The muffin watches Love and Redemption (insert preemptive crying here)
Aright, I finally FINALLY finished live blogging this episode. @mejomonster my thoughts are aplenty! I actually wrote way too much!
Edit: I’m an idiot, I forgot to mention a prediction/observation.
Episode 1:
The CGI is actually very nice in this drama, I’m pleased. I will definitely watch dramas with cringe-worthy CGI, but it’s always nice when they manage to integrate it with the actors and set pieces well, which is even harder to accomplish in Xianxia.
Wait, what did the god of war do to deserve the reincarnation out of the heavenly realm punishment? Didn’t she defeat the Asura/Mosha guy? Was it because she used his weapon or something? And in the first place, why does that half of the Mosha guy’s soul qualify as a celestial that can be reborn? I suppose everyone is subject to reincarnation, but this batch is explicitly for those who have committed crimes in the heavens and wasn’t he on the demon/asura side? Or…maybe he was a celestial who betrayed them? Who knows, I’m just wildly speculating…
The scene definitely suggests there is a lot the narration is not telling us about how these two ended up being reincarnated - yet.
If she lacks the six senses, then why can she see and hear just fine? She apparently can’t feel pain, which would count for the deficiency of touch. Hm.
Xuanji, I relate to just wanting to go back to sleep and not deal with visitors so much lol.
HA, that little look of alarm one of the shixiongs (Liuzi?) has on his face when Linglong tries to convince Xuanji it’ll be fun because they get to check out the handsome guys. So is Linglong supposed to be her twin since they’re both 16 years old?
The dragon wolf thing moves a little funny, but at least it doesn’t look glaringly out of place and the camera doesn’t focus on it for too long, as is typical of CGI monsters. Kudos to them!
Cheng Yi is low-key really good looking in action scenes, just putting that out there. I didn’t think I would adjust to him in period clothing and long hair so quickly, since it usually takes me a while to make the switch (after seeing him in The Lost Tomb 2), but nope! He looks really good!
Ah, so this is the ruthless sect. I love how their first rule, which is literally more important than anything else they may value or encourage in their members, is to not show their entire face when outside the sect…also, what’s the point in hiding only half your face?? Sifeng’s mask only covers one eye, his forehead, and cheek on one side…at least have it cover the entire upper or lower half like everyone else in the sect (I know it’s so we can actually see the actor’s face and not supposed to make sense in-universe)?? I actually do like how they designed it though, it’s far less clunky than the full-face masks we saw in the opening sequence, probably due to the curves.
Sect leader…Sifeng is 16, he IS little pfft. Even adjusting for the times, he is a BABY haha. As I grow older, I realize more and more how young a lot of protags in fantasy stories really are. Also, sect leader is a drama queen, like he’s just lounging on his chair with this dramatic laid-back pose, takes a deep breath, and turns his chin up. So extra.
Aw, yes, I want to see more of Cheng Yi’s easy smiles. He’s so serious in TLT2, except when the warmth seeps into this expression when he’s smiling fondly at Wu Xie…
These devil/asura people have a weird bowing pose. I can’t help but think their hands make them look like…eagle claws or something lol.
Ah, a classic ‘I forgot my invitation’ situation. Well, Xuanji doesn’t have to feel too bad, apparently none of the other Shaoyang disciples know how to fly on a sword either lol. Her sister was tied down by that spell, but could none of the others have attempted to chase after the jerk who grabbed her? (Side note: I really love the color of his sect’s outfits.)
:3 I like Xuanji’s expressions, they’re just cute? So cute. Like her little huff when she’s defending her big sister from the jerkass. Also, I love characters who are like little kittens who puff up and try to protect their friends/family even though the one they’re trying to protect is probably more capable than them.
Jerkass really does take it too far when he just DROPS HER FROM THE SKY. Like, I can accept if youthful teasing goes a little far in that he snatched her and took her for a joy ride, but when it’s apparently that she really can’t summon a sword, it’s 100% not okay to just drop her and laugh it off. If Sifeng didn’t catch her, she could’ve died, and how exactly do you plan on explaining THAT to her father, huh Mr. Jerkass? He had like a dozen witnesses too.
Well, what can you expect from a guy who forgot to bring his invitation and literally was too arrogant and entitled to wait for his teacher to come out and let them in. :p Not the smartest cookie, is he. Even if you got in trouble for forgetting your invitation, you’d get in x10 more trouble for murdering a girl. Good thing she has plot armor and Sifeng was conveniently in the right spot to catch her lol.
Small note, he left her on his sword and she fell off after a bit - so…how exactly is HE flying? Can people fly without the help of their sword? Is he able to make more than one?
Lol Xuanji tugs at him like she does to her sister, it’s cute. But he’s so PANIC every time she touches him haha poor guy. He’s so awkward…why is it so endearing…
It took me a second to realize that he stutters, also that he has a voice actor this time! Idk why, Cheng Yi has a good voice. It would’ve fit this role just fine, unless there were parts they were concerned he couldn’t do. They did a good job matching the VA to his lip movements though, it’s really hard to tell it’s not his voice. It’s been a while since I heard Cheng Yi on video, but listening and comparing, now I can tell that it’s not his in this drama. Anyways, this might be my only complaint lol. Both he and his VA do a good job conveying the stuttering though!
Cheng Yi, you’re playing another character who’s good at disappearing in the blink of an eye lol…
Aah, so normally her sister’s personality type is the annoying sort, which is why she works well as a supporting character. I love how she turns her brattiness up to eleven in order to help Xuanji get out of a scolding by their father. I just really love how these two are so supportive and defensive of each other.
Edit: Alright, but Xuanji did you really just raise a flag for yourself so early in the show. ‘I think tears are the most precious things’. I WILL EAT MY HAT IF THIS DOES NOT BECOME RELEVANT LATER.
And instead of holding onto Sifeng’s name tag for like 50 episodes, she remembers she has it and goes to give it back + some birthday snacks because it’s his birthday too! GAH Xuanji is too cute.
I love how the guy who answered the door just his back only to turn around and smoothly give an explanation for his friend’s disfluency lol (so it’s a language thing!). AND THEN HE GOES ‘carry on!’ AND TURNS AROUND AGAIN. Idk why I find this funny but.
? Why all that effort for dew from a peach blossom tree. Is this one a special peach blossom tree. Why is he making tea with it. OH OK it’s good for cultivation.
He’s so vicious ha, he’s clearly perplexed by her - I mean, he’s the top disciple in his sect, so likely he doesn’t get how she can live so carefree and not have any desire to cultivate or anything. It’s perplexing and kind of total opposite to his worldview, so he reacts harshly.
Ah, I really like Cheng Yi’s acting! He goes from flat/indifferent face to reacting angrily to her picking the snake up, then a subtle worry as his eyes drop down from her to the snake.
I don’t know why I like this snake scene but I dooo. xD Also, it’s interesting how she doesn’t feel any strong emotions (she’s actually rather intensely curious tho!), while he puts on a mask literally/figuratively to seem like he doesn’t and yet gets worked up quite easily.
I’m glad she stops imitating him when he tells her to and is explicitly angry/upset, I get enough of people being assholes and making fun of others for things they can’t help like their speech impairments or mannerisms, it’s just kind of a personal thing that irks me.
AW HE’S SO PROTECTIVE OF HIS LITTLE SNAKE.
Why is it always the peach tree forests?? They’re always weird places that trap people. I can think of two other dramas where this happens haha. I know peaches do have significant symbolism in Chinese culture, so maybe that explains it.
Lol he still flips out a bit when she gets close. Poor girl, getting dropped from the air AGAIN.
Ah, this is the lake! Where they sealed part of that Mosha guy’s soul! This can’t be good.
Aw, look at his face, he’s genuinely worried for his little snake. CHENG YI YOUR RANGE OF EMOTIONS. GAH.

Here’s an idea, she finds the snake, you fight the dragon, and then all three of you get out of there.
OH the mask comes off!! Ok, but you have seen like most of his face already…Hahaha the look on his face ‘wait…why do I feel a hand why is she touching me there…OH NO’
Ah, a nice detail I didn’t think they’d think to add in: his stuttering got way worse without the mask on, since he was so upset/shaken.

Final Thoughts:
An interesting start, with nice character dynamics revealed and a dangerous situation to move the plot right along. I have been informed the drama really differentiates itself from the typical setup that has been supplied thus far, and I’m excited to see it unfold.
For now, I have a tiiiiny crush on Cheng Yi and I’m interested in where they take Xuanji’s character. Also, what disasters will result from their little excursion into the super lake where a demon lord thing was sort of sealed away a long time ago...

My fellow friends who are down for some Quality Children’s Programming: I have a SHOW FOR YOU
A show was just added to Disney+ called Mech-X4. It aired on Disney XD from 2016-2018 before getting cancelled after the second season. It’s absolutely perplexing that a show as good as that one got hardly any attention (the tumblr fandom is LITERALLY, like, me on another account and 6 other people. literally. the active twitter fandom is me and one other person). NOW IS THE TIME TO GIVE THIS SHOW THE CULT FOLLOWING IT DESERVES. HERE’S MY PITCH. THIS IS WHY YOU SHOULD WATCH MECH-X4.
The premise: Four boys in high school (later joined by a freaking AWESOME girl) pilot a giant 150 foot robot and fight giant monsters with it. The main character controls the robot because he has a power that lets him control technology and he’s bonded to the robot. GIANT ROBOT FIGHTING GIANT MONSTERS. SUPERPOWERS. I don’t even need to say anything else! You should already be dying to watch it! But that’s only the BEGINNING
If you want a show. About four teenaged boys who are like “bro. bro. I love you and I would die for you and I’m not ashamed about that” THEN THIS IS THE SHOW. The level of PLATONIC LOVE between these kids. It’s EVERYTHING YOU WANT. There are some relationships that start out super strong, there are some relationships where the characters are learning to love each other, it’s just. It’s so good. You will love it. There’s NONE of that “I am Masculine and therefore it is Not Cool to show I care about you.” Nah man. There’s a lot of hugging. Lots of hands on shoulders. HUGGING. GOD. DONT EVEN TOUCH ME I LOVE THIS SHOW
The Highlight of the above aspect is the relationship between the protagonist and his brother. Do you want a really strong and loving brotherly relationship? Then THIS IS THE SHOW FOR YOU. Their relationship is a bit rocky when we first meet them but it gets strong QUICK. Things are awkward between them sometimes as they learn how to show each other they love each other, but THEY LOVE EACH OTHER SO MUCH. Lots of hugging. Lots of them being worried about each other. AAAAAAAA I WOULD LITERALLY DIE FOR THIS SHOW
The show can get intense for a kids’ show too! There’s a dash of implied torture (both torture that was about to happen and torture that actually happened). There’s this whole situation where it’s basically like the protagonist’s mind gets ripped in half. A few devastating betrayals. One of the kids flatlines at one point and everybody cries. That’s not even all of it. It’s wild! It’s a great time!
Do you want some nice HURT/COMFORT? If you’re like me then yeah you do AND THIS IS ALSO THE SHOW FOR YOU. The main character is bonded to the robot so whatever happens to the robot, he feels! NEED I SAY MORE?? Do you want a main character with a pain tolerance high enough to be concerning? Do you want a protagonist who pushes himself to his absolute limits and says “I’m fine I can handle it!” until he literally passes out (like literally passes out)? Seriously it could be like, a drinking game to take a shot every time this protag says “I’m fine.” Do you want those Sweet Sweet Moments where the brother RUSHES to his side like “YOU OKAY BUDDY?” the second he’s able? Who here DOESN’T want that. It’s EVERYTHING you want
The writing is honestly pretty darn good. There are twists and turns that took me by surprise, and I’m definitely older than the target audience. The story is really interesting and every episode has a purpose, so it’s always engaging. The two seasons are basically one big arc so it’s really cool to see how everything grows and connects. There isn’t a single bad episode in my opinion. The show does a really good job of building on itself. Something will happen and you’ll be like “oh that’s WILD that’s SERIOUS” and then something even MORE wild and serious will happen but the things that come before it don’t lose their weight because everything builds on what comes before it. The characters are GREAT, they’re so vividly written and acted (for REAL they got some talented young actors doing this show). They get pretty well developed over the course of the series and are SO likable, I honestly can’t even pick a favorite. And as far as the humor goes, the target audience is probably somewhere around 12 years old so yeah okay that definitely factors in BUT if that doesn’t bother you, I don’t think it takes away from the show and there are actually plenty of jokes that still land even when you’re older than the target audience.
It’s also diverse! 3/4 of the core group of boys are people of color and as I mentioned before a really great female character joins the main group later on. The cool thing about the show is that it doesn’t treat the characters any differently because they’re not white or because they’re girls. So that’s definitely cool for kids who were watching- a black kid could watch this show and see a protagonist who looks like him but is treated the same way that any given white superhero would be. A little girl could watch this show and see a girl just like her who is extremely smart, good with science, and can outwit every single boy she hangs out with. The show is good about being casually “woke”- there are definitely social messages there, but they don’t distract from the plot, they’re just a natural part of the world.
The production quality is also pretty darn good for a network Disney show! The way it was filmed has a very cinematic feel. The sets and filming locations are beautiful. The CGI is better than you’d think it would be considering they were animating some pretty big things. They really pulled out all the stops for this one.
As far as live action Disney XD shows go there seem to be a lot of fans of Lab Rats? So for a point of reference, if you ever watched that and you were like “this could go really hard if it weren’t a sitcom” like if you’ve ever felt like “I want this but without the laugh track” then yeah give Mech-X4 a shot
SO THAT’S MY PITCH. NOW PLEASE. FOR THE LOVE OF GIANT ROBOT MONSTER FIGHTS AND CHILDREN’S PROGRAMMING. WATCH MECH-X4.

(A self-indulgent little self-insert fic I wrote up so I could maybe stop thirsting over Kabu for five minutes. Hopefully this doesn’t awaken anything in me. Protag is 26.)
“Not on your way to Hammerlocke, Gym Challenger?”
Katla jumped at the sudden voice behind her, her eyes widening when the young woman saw who it was.
“Kabu!” Heat rushed into her face for reasons she didn’t really want to consider as she turned to address Motostoke’s gym leader. “I-I’m sorry, I didn’t expect to see you out here.” She grinned weakly, inwardly cursing how she fumbled over her words. He’s just a man, calm down.
If Kabu was offended, he didn’t show it, his silver eyes seeming to twinkle.
“Likewise...Katla, was it?” He nodded as she did. “I expected you would be well on your way to your next challenge. Your friend seemed very eager to be away.”
She chuckled weakly, shoving her hands in her black trouser pockets.
“Yeah, that’s Hop for you. Running through everywhere at break-neck speed.” She looked over her shoulder at the place she’d set up camp, and the Pokemon that frolicked around it. “I prefer to take my time training and catching new Pokemon. We’ll get to the next gym in time, no matter how many times Hop calls me a Slowpoke.”
“Understandable.” Kabu replied. “It was clear from our battle that you spent as much time as possible training before it.”
A smile pulled at Katla’s lips.
“Figured it was only polite, seeing that you were doing the same in Galar’s Number 2 mine.”
The older man chuckled, a soft, warm sound that made her heart skip a beat.
“That’s very considerate of you,” he said.
There was a loud thrill from their feet, revealed to be a Sizzlipede, peering inquisitively up at the two trainers. Forgetting her company, Katla immediately crouched down to greet the creature.
“Hello sweetheart!” She cooed, stroking the little bug under her ‘chin’. “How’s the baby doing?”
The Sizzlipede replied in a very happy thrill, closing her eyes and starting to curl herself warmly around her trainer’s hand.
“I see you chose to catch a Sizzlipede during the Gym Mission.” Kabu commented, and despite his calm voice, she could hear a smile in it.
“Yeah, and a Litwick too.” Katla glanced briefly over her shoulder at him, still petting the Pokemon snuggling against her hand. “I’ve been trying to catch a Sizzlipede for ages, actually. I spent so much time on Route 3 hunting for one, but I never got even a glimpse. Eventually I decided I best keep moving, and one day I’d come back or find one somewhere in the Wild Area.”
“So when I saw I could catch one for your Gym Mission, well...Almost a dream come true.” She smiled as the Bug Pokemon glanced at her curiously. “Now I have this lovely little one to join me on my adventure.” Katla tenderly stroked Sizzlipede’s ‘cheek’ with her thumb. “A living memento of our battle.”
There was a pause, just a little bit longer than would be normal, and Katla looked back up at the Gym Leader, brows arched with confusion. Kabu wasn’t really looking at her, yet he wasn’t really looking at the Sizzlipede around her hand either, not really. His gaze was far-away and none of his thoughts reflected on his face.
He seemed to notice her looking, however, and he smiled properly. Damn, he looks handsome.
“It was an invigorating battle, for certain.” He lifted his gaze up and away, towards the body of water Katla’s Gyarados was swimming in. “Whilst I may not have anything physical to remember it by, I will treasure the memory.”
Katla felt her face heat up again, and she tried to ignore it, especially when Sizzlipede seemed to become curious about her blush, reaching up with trembling whiskers.
“You’re welcome. Glad I could provide a challenge,” she said.
“You certainly did.” Another pause. “When are you going to tell Hop your secret?”
The trainer’s heart froze in her chest. He’s bluffing, he can’t know. Keep talking.
“What secret would that be?”
Kabu’s gaze bored into her.
“You’ve had prior experience of other Leagues, Katla. I could tell from our battle that you’ve fought competitively before. Perhaps not in the form it takes in Galar, but the other more...’traditional’ Leagues.” Kabu said. “Can I assume that you’ve not told your friend about this?”
Katla looked away, pressing her lips together into a thin line. She tried to ignore the concerned noise Sizzlipede made as she sensed her trainer’s change of mood. Guess he’s rumbled me.
“You’re right on both accounts.” She admitted, soothing the Bug Pokemon. “I’ve done this sort of thing before. Couple of times, actually.” She sighed. “I didn’t want to tell Hop ‘cos...He can be annoying sometimes, especially with all that bloody ‘Champion’ talk, but he’s a sweet kid. Don’t think he’s got a mean bone in him. Just seemed a bit cruel to tell him ‘yeah no I’ve been doing this for years, kiddo’ - just seemed better to make him think we’re both on equal ground, you know?”
“He will find out eventually.”
“If he or I don’t get knocked out towards the end of the Challenge, then yeah. Probably.” Katla lowered her hand to the ground, letting Sizzlipede scuttle off.
“The longer you leave it, the worse a reaction he will have when you finally tell him.” Kabu warned, and Katla bristled.
“Yeah, I know! But I’m in too deep now and there’s never gonna be a good time to dump it on him.” She sighed, forcing her shoulders to relax to release some of her tension. “Knowing my luck, it’s gonna be when he’s boasting about when he’s gonna be the champion and I finally snap at him.”
“All the more reason to do it soon.” There was another brief pause, where Katla expected him to continue pestering her. But when he spoke again, his tack had changed.
“Which League did you start with?”
“League? Uhh, Hoenn. I came of age to get my first Pokemon there, despite growing up here, mostly.“ She rose up from crouching as he knees began to complain. “My first Pokemon was a Torchic. She became the closest companion I ever had. Still is, I think, despite all the other regions I've been to. Wish I could bring her to Galar, but I think that’d be a bit unfair on the other trainers!”
“Ah, Hoenn!” Kabu smiled properly for the first time. “That is where I’m originally from.”
“Really?” Katla’s eyebrow rose. “Dang, you’re originally from Hoenn, come to lead a Galar gym, and I’m originally from Galar, and I started off in Hoenn.” She chuckled, lifting a shoulder. “Weird how these things turn out.”
“Indeed. Torchic is a very good choice.” He titled his head to the side, eyeing the Drizzile about to pelt Gyarados with a water bomb. “But you chose a Sobble to begin your journey in Galar?”
“I’ve always wobbled between Fire and Water starter Pokemon.” Katla said. “I tend to gravitate to Fire and Flying types, but I like to keep a broad team. That and Scorbunny just...we didn’t jive. But Sobble did. She’s a pretty tough girl too.”
“She is. You have trained her well.” Kabu nodded.
“I know it’s par for the course, with you being a Gym Leader and all, but yours are really well trained too.” Katla said. “Definitely gave me and my team a tough challenge.” She started to smile weakly as she realized she was starting to babble. Shut up shut up shut up.
A brief moment of silence settled between them, watching Katla’s Pokemon amuse themselves. Gyarados and Drizzile played together, whilst a Corvisquire preened himself, throwing wary glances at the Boltund play-bowing at Sizzlipede. Despite their obvious size difference, the little bug Pokemon seemed eager to accept the bigger canine’s offer. The only other Pokemon keeping to itself was Farfetch’d, absorbed with cleaning his leek.
“I notice your Carkol isn’t among your team.” Kabu commented.
“No. I keep a big team, I have to keep rotating them.” A smile pulled at the side of Katla’s lips. “After winning your gym battle, I think she earned a bit of a rest. Need to give the others time to shine.”
“Of course. Training them all to the same high standard takes effort, and a lot of time.”
“Yeah. I dunno who runs the Pokemon storage systems, but I think I’m not much liked by them. I tend to catch a lot of Pokemon I caught before in other regions for other Leagues. I have two Roselias now, for instance - one from Sinnoh and one from here.” She chuckled weakly. “One day I’ll have to go through them and see who I can keep and who would be better off elsewhere.”
Katla winced, and she looked away, face heating up in embarrassment. “Sorry, I don’t mean to talk your ear off. You’re, you probably don’t want to hear about that boring stuff.”
“I don’t mind.” Kabu said, which she assumed was out of politeness. “But I have taken up enough of your time.” He turned to her, a small smile on his features. “I wish you the best of luck in your Gym Challenge, Katla. I will be watching your matches with interest.”
Now she was sure she was blushing, with her face boiling up as it was.
“Oh, well, thanks!” She managed to splutter out. “I’ll, I’ll try to live up to your expectations.”
“I’m sure you will.” Kabu replied. “So long as you are true to yourself, and unleash the potential I witnessed during our battle.” He gave a quick nod, before turning away. “Travel safe, Katla.”
“You too, Kabu. Bye!” He lifted a hand in response, before he jogged away, leaving the trainer alone with her Pokemon and her thoughts.
“Si?” Sizzlipede was at her feet again, peering up at her curiously.
“Hey little girl.” Katla smiled, crouching down to the bug again. Seeing its expression, she gave a lopsided smile. “Ah, it’s nothing. I just...I’ve got a lot on my mind.”
Sizzlipede trilled, reaching up to clamber onto Katla’s leg so she could receive some more pettings. Her trainer smiled, watching the Pokemon relax into her hand.
Kabu’s gonna be watching my next matches? Bloody hell, no pressure.

Let the Tides of Change Come
Part 1
Pairing(s): Carlos de Vil/Jane/Oc, Ben/Mal, Evie/Doug, Gil/Jay
Word Count: 2,062
Summary: Sometimes the power to rewrite things comes in the form of jumping right into the Descendants universe and giving everyone a piece of your mind.
Doug’s stereotypical nerdy band kid shtick? Out the window it goes.
The adults not knowing how to do anything right? Not on my watch.
Kids being stuck on a prison of an Island? You’re all coming with me now.
For Micha, they’ve taken on the grueling task of heading to the surface to help teach the kids of Auradon and the Isle that it’s okay to talk things out and to not give into the rules and expectations of the older generation.Will someone at least give these teens a moment to breath in between saving the kingdom please? Jesus.
A/N: A few notes before we get into things:
"Michael" is pronounced "MI-kha-ehl"
"Micha" is pronounced "MI-kha"
and "Marius" is pronounced "MA-ree-oos"
Having been a long way from any civilization, it took a while for Micha and the stranger (whose name they found out was Marius) to maneuver through all the vegetation and ruins. It seemed that because the Atlanteans were so focused on surviving they never truly stepped out of their city limits and stayed within its walls. Which, Marius remarked, was the reason why the two of them had ventured out so far initially; to search for any other clues behind their people’s past and possibly find more resources.
While the two moved along (albeit very slowly as Micha were getting slightly distracted by everything around them.) Micha had come to some conclusions:
The first thing was that they would take on the name of “Michael”. Or as Marius had called them, “Micha” for short. It’d be easier to take on a new name instead of trying to convince others that they were someone else. And seeing how they were stuck in this body for however long, they’d need to get used to the name change.
The second thing they found was that though they’ve never actually worked out in their previous life, the muscle memory for their current body was strong. Whenever it came to dangerous ledges or crumbling stones, they were able to instinctively get over any obstacle in their way. Climbing rock walls was easy without having to breaking a sweat. And if they wanted to, they could have gone up a couple flights of stairs with the energy they had left. Just from feeling the firmness of muscle on their body showed how often the previous Micha probably exercised. It was kind of scary, not gonna lie.
It was like they were thrown straight into a storybook. One where the main character got transported into a new body in a whole different universe. Which was kind of cool but also made them question a few things like: Where did the original soul go? Did they switch bodies when they were underwater nearly drowning? Did Micha straight up die in their sleep like all the other protagonists? Was this just an Atlantis plotline or some sort of weird Disney multiverse universe? How did all this work anyway?!
All these questions ran through their mind like race cars on a track crashing and swerving into each other. Just trying to pick them out from each other gave Micha a huge headache. So, they decided it was best to not think about it anymore and just kept their eyes on the trail. For now, it was best to decide what they were going to do from here on out. Lightly scratching their chin, they began to think of what others did in similar scenarios. Ah yes. What would that one anime protag do?
“Would you stop acting like a dazed fool? We’re here.” Marius called out to them. Snapping out of their stupor they hadn’t realized they had even passed into the city. They really needed to start paying attention to their surroundings.
Looking up, they saw Marius standing in front of a pair of doors. On the door there was a large engraved spiral going outwards from the center with door handles that were stone carved heads. Though it looked to be worn down with age, you remembered it that same exact door leading to the throne room in the movie. There were even guards standing next to the door who weren’t telling the two of them to go away. Not understanding why they were there, Micha gave Marius a weird look. Was he some sort of hot shot or something to be able to go to the throne room? But he said they were going “to Mother and Father.” Wait. Did that mean he was a part of the royal family? Were they a part of the royal family? Are they even siblings?
With no further explanations Marius nodded to the guards to open the door. He righted himself and stood with his arms behind his back like some sort of official. Not knowing what to do exactly Micha stood beside him awkwardly. “Stand up straight. It’s not good to slouch in front of the King and Queen.” He chided them, not even looking their way as he did so. They could only roll their eyes and did as he said, trying to push away the slight anxious feeling down in their gut.
With the doors fully opened, Marius sauntered in. Micha on the other hand, couldn’t help but lag behind to take in the wonder of the throne room. “Mother. Father. We’re back.” He went to formally bow but was stopped by a man with an American accent.
"You know you don't need to be so stiff with us, right?" The American called in a teasing tone, coming closer to the two of them. Before them was Milo Thatch who didn’t look a day over 30. He was still lanky like before, but they could see he had grown some amount of muscle required to live here in Atlantis. "My own son, bowing down before me. Come on! Give your old man a hug." He stood Infront of Marius with his arms spread wide, a warm smile on his face. Marius looked like he wanted to resist, but Milo’s smile was too bright, he could only hesitate before slowly sinking into his father’s arms with a face full of embarrassment. Micha almost let out a laugh at the sight, but the daggers sent their way made them look away like they hadn’t seen anything.
Without anything really to look at, their eyes naturally landed on the older yet still charming Kida Nedakh. She hadn’t seemed to age as much either and retain much of her beauty. It felt like there was more of a mature aura around her now, and her hair had grown past her waist. She hadn’t lost the gleam of adventure in her eyes, but her posture told them that she had many years of knowledge under her belt. It must have been the magic of the crystal. Since it helped the Atlanteans be near immortal it must have cause them to physically age at a much slower rate as the years went by.
Kida was so beautiful that when she went to chuckle at the two men, Micha actually felt themselves blush. Feeling flustered they immediately looked down at the ground to avoid eye contact. For people they once thought were fictional, the couple were pretty breath taking to look at. It felt kind of wrong to look at them both for too long. How were you supposed to talk to breath taking people? Heck! How were you supposed to talk to breath taking heroes who were once cartoons? Oh god this was starting to get to real. Reality was starting to crash into them. They took in a shaky breath and held their head to try to regain some sort of ground.
"Michael?" Kida’s smooth voice called above them, bringing them back. Before they had realized it, Kida had made her way in front of them, a look of concern on her face. Usually when the two children would come into the throne room, Micha would always jump in at the prospect of Marius’ embarrassment and join in on the fun. It was odd that they were just standing there looking like they were out of sorts. It worried Kida a bit. “Is there something wrong my dear?”
Realizing their probably out of character behavior, they straightened themselves out and quickly shook their head. They didn’t want to speak out loud incase they’d say something else out of character. Though that probably wasn’t hard because who knew what the previous Micha was like before.
At Micha’s sudden muteness, Milo unwrapped his arms from Marius and went to kneel in front of them. “Are you feelin’ alright pumpkin? Usually you can’t wait to jump on your brother.” He reached to touch their shoulder, but the quick moment had Micha stepping back a bit. Not knowing what he did, Milo looked to be a little hurt by their action. They cursed at themself. Milo was a good guy, but Micha was just thrown into a whole new world with strangers that they didn’t know, and they weren’t really feeling touchy feely right now.
"I…" Micha began. They tried to find some way to explain themselves. Something to possibly relieve the tension, but things were coming up blank.
Seeing their troubles, Marius spoke up, “Michael almost drowned themselves today at the cove.” When the couple gasped in shock he further explained, “There was nothing wrong with them physically. However, they have been acting strange ever since.” Of course, he had to make the situation worse. What did they expect? Since they’ve first met, he’s only been a jerk to them and now, he had to open his big dumb mouth. They gave him a dirty look, hoping it could somehow beat him over the head or something.
Before Micha could look back to see the older couple’s reaction, they were suddenly embraced and cradled like a baby. Kida pulled back enough to try and find any injuries while Milo took to crying in their ear about the thought of his child almost drowning. “Oh, my baby! That must have been horrible! Daddy’s so sorry you had to go through that!” He whaled as his embrace tightened.
“Please… let go.” They squeezed out.
Not hearing them, Milo proceeded to only hug them tighter. So much so that their face started turning blue. Thank god Kida smacked him over the head to let them go or else they would have popped like a balloon. “Can’t you see that they’re suffocating? Let go already.” Realizing his mistake, he gave an awkward laugh and let go.
He stood up besides the two and scratched the back of his neck. “Sorry. Force of habit.” Kida gave him a nod and brought Micha closer to her, rubbing small circles in their back as they gathered their breath.
“No Father. Do go on. I don’t think Micha’s been squished enough.”
“Well if you say it like that, I’d have to say someone else needs more hugs than Micha right now.”
“I prefer to disagree.”
“Aw come on. Not even for your pops?”
“Especially for you, your highness.”
“So cold.”
“Enough you two.”
With all the chaos going around them, Micha didn’t know where to focus exactly. The Nedakh family were so comfortable with each other that they could bounce off each other like pin balls. It made it hard for them to try to interject. They had questions that needed to be answered, and though this little family back and forth was funny, they needed the information now. With renewed confidence they shot out a question on top of their head.
“Are… Are you guys my family?"

Oh my god! Micha smacked themselves in the head. Really? The one question to start out with and that was the one they just had to pick? Fuuuck! I’m so screwed.
While Micha was screaming at themselves silently, they hadn’t noticed the room fall silent. It wasn’t until Milo threw his hands up in hysteria that they noticed.
“Oh my god! They don’t remember us! What are we going to do?!?” The room filled with his panic like the world was coming to an end. He grabbed onto Marius and began shaking him wildly back and forth as he dissolved into crazy ramblings. Being the unfortunate victim of his father’s chaos, Marius tried to calm him down but was thrown here and there by Milo’s mysterious strength.
Ignoring the commotion behind the two of them, Kida knelt down on her knees and gently touched Micha’s shoulders. She searched their eyes for something. When she couldn’t seem to find it, her face melted into something of concern and something else that was unreadable.
"Do you really not remember who we are?"
There was something in Kida’s clear blue eyes that made them want to tell the truth, but at the same time they couldn’t. There was no way of telling how all of them would react. What if they thought Micha was some sort of crazy person? Would they be locked up forever because of it? Of course, they knew that Kida and Milo were at least going to hear them out, but would they actually believe a small child?
Micha’s expression scrunched more and more with all the heavy thoughts weighing down their mind. They were so lost in what to do. And they had only just came to this world not even an hour ago.
Seeing the intensity in their face, Kida squeezed their shoulders to get their attention again. She brushed a stray hair behind their ear and without missing a beat she looked them in the eyes and gave the gentlest smile. “Whatever is on your mind. I will listen. Anything you have to say, I will not judge you for it.” The words filled Micha with warmth. Kida was trying to reassure them, and it was somewhat working. Her touch seemed to ground them, calming their nerves and helped them drown out everything else.
Kida and Milo believed in each other to find the truth. And when they found it, they protected it with everything they had. The two of them wouldn’t judge a person just because they said some improbable things and would absolutely listen to them all the way through. Not to mention if Micha wanted to get through this whole situation, these two were probably the best help they could get.
Micha only hesitated for a second longer before gathering up all the courage they had. With tightly clenched hands, they began. “Have you ever heard of reincarnation?”
There was a confusion in Kida’s eyes. It didn’t occur to them that with the crystals help, their people had rarely died out and tended to live for long periods of time. So of course, she had never heard about reincarnation before. In their effort to try to explain it somehow to the older woman they hadn’t realized that things had gotten quiet around them.
"You mean like a rebirth of a soul into a new body?" Milo interjected, suddenly kneeling down besides Kida to join in on the conversation. There was an unseen sparkle in his eye.
Give it to the man who’s a linguist, cartographer, and plumber to also know philosophical concepts. Micha nodded their head, glad to know at least someone knew about what they were talking about.
"Father I don't understand." Marius called behind the two.
"Well, it's a philosophical and religious concept that non-physical essence of a living being starts a new life in a different physical form or body after biological death." Milo began, turning to Marius like he was an audience member. "It's a central tenet of Indian religions, namely Jainism, Buddhism, Sikhism and Hinduism, although there are Hindu groups that don’t believe in reincarnation but believe in an afterlife." God it was like he was a Wikipedia article listing off all the information like a machine. Before he could completely lose himself in his history lesson, Kida cleared her throat to bring him back on track. He coughed awkwardly and faced Micha again, giving them a somewhat serious look. Behind his glasses they could see the scholarly look he had and there was something else behind it too. "Usually reincarnation happens after death, but there have been cases of near-death experiences triggering some sort of past life memories."
It took Kida a bit to catch on, but as she pieced things together her eyes slowly drew back to Micha. A look of astonishment crossed her features. "So, Michael almost drowning-"
"Could have been the trigger for such a thing to an occur, yes." Milo finished.
Marius frowned. "That would explain the amnesia and personality difference."
Giving then all a moment to figure it all out, Micha couldn't help but be surprised on how well they all were taking it. Granted Milo was an exception because he was a history nerd and he liked going deeper into unsolved theories. But they couldn't shake the feeling of guilt. The whole thing about transmigration was that the original host had to die for them to use the previous owner’s body. Meaning they had basically lost their own flesh and blood and was now met with a stranger wearing their skin. Just the thought of it all made them feel sick to their stomach.
"Micha, my sweet child." Kida called to them, pulling them into her arms with a warm embrace. The sudden hug gave them a start and on reflex their whole body stiffened. As you've probably guessed, they were never one for close contact. Whether or not that was the social awkwardness from their previous life or just the fact that they were guilt stricken, they just didn't know. Though the longer they were in her arms, the more they seemed to relax. It didn't even take two minutes before they just accepted it and leaned into Kida's touch. "No matter who you are, whoever memories you possess, or whoever you feel like being, I will always love you to the absolute core." She held them with a delicate firmness, careful to let them break free whenever they wanted to but still showing that she wanted to be as close as possible. She was so close in fact, that they could smell the remnants of the sea in her hair mixed in with a dull scent of bitter incense. She had been nothing but kind to them since they've shown up and it really moved them. They could hear the sincerity in her words as they hit their heart. All in all, it almost made Micha want to hug her back. And they did. They slowly yet surely snaked their arms around her waist and returned her hug, earning them a soft chuckle from the older woman.
"Yeah! It won't change the fact that you're our little troublemaker. And heck we'll just have to spend more time with each other to get to know one other better." Milo cheered as he ruffled their hair. At the amazed look they gave him, he laughed and gave them a quick side squeeze before wrapping his arm around Kida's waist.
Milo and Kida shared a look before they turned their attention to Marius, who was staying in the back with his arms crossed. It wasn’t surprising he was distant. He was the closest in age to the original “Micha” and probably spent the most time with them before the incident. To his stand-offish attitude, Milo and Kida began a physic chat with him through only their eyes. It wasn't until he gave a heavy sigh that they knew he had lost. He came over and knelt in front of Micha, putting his finger right on their forehead. "You may not have been "Micha" before, but you are "Micha" now. We're family now and will be for a long time." He pushed his finger hard enough on their forehead to make a mark and chuckled when Micha grumbled in pain. He looked away triumphantly when his mother gave a scolding look. Even though the poke had hurt a lot, Micha couldn’t help the smile that spread across their face. They didn't want to admit it but right from the beginning he had already acted like their big brother through and through. Just the thought made them burst out in laughter.
Their laugh was infectious and soon everyone was laughing along, filling the atmosphere with a relaxing warmth. Micha took the opportunity to look at each of their family members, taking them in. It felt right to let them into their walls. The journey was quite a hard one, and maybe just maybe they could get through it okay with their family by their side.
When the laughter died down Milo gave an excited grin, holding out his hand for Micha to take. “Now that we’ve got things straighten out, how about we go sit down and talk more? We could even show you around to get used to the scenery and everything!”
Micha gave one look at his hand and grinned. Grabbing on with a firm grip, they looked up at him smiling ear to ear. “Let’s go Dad.”
One couldn’t hear it, but Milo’s heart seemed to explode from the cuteness that was Micha. He couldn’t help but cover his chest and take a breath before slowly leading them off. The others following close behind.

Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation

Quite excited for the chapters to come. I’ve been wanting to read the full version of events from this time period and it has really delivered so far.
also: tumblr is being wonky with displaying the activity feed so if I didn’t respond to a reply or something, I probably didn’t see it rip. I’ll save them all up for later and respond all at once in a few days.
Chapter 52: Courage (Part 2)
I’ve heard that the next chunk of chapters is going to be all flashback, which makes sense given how little the story has actually revealed about events from the Sunshot Campaign up until Wei Wuxian died. It also adds more life to characters who were only mentioned briefly *coughJinZixuancough*.
And, of course, we get some more quality banter between our main protags’ younger selves. The chapter opens up with Lan Wangji rebuffing all of Wei Wuxian’s attempts to talk to him, but hey, this time Wei Wuxian is genuinely concerned about his leg (though he probably still sounds like his normal playful, infuriating self) and not looking to make fun of him.
Still, Lan Wangji is on a mission here, and that mission is to pretend there is nothing wrong with his leg.
We finally get introduced to a female character other than Jiang Yanli and Madam Yu (another minor flaw of the novel: the awesome ladies are few and far between. enjoy them while they’re here.): Mianmian. Do we ever find out what Mianmian’s real name is or. I’ll put off adding her to the wiki for now.
Poor girl, confronted with Wei Wuxian’s absolutely shameless badgering. It’s cute how he bounces between conversations and groups of people though, as if they aren’t all human sacrifices/hostages of the Wen Sect.
This description of him is absolutely hilarious, and probably what Lan Wangji thought of him 90% of the time: “[He] swept over like a foreboding gust of wind”. Perfect description of Wei Wuxian. Flits about as he pleases, bringing wit him headaches and frustration.
“Seeing that he was at it again, Jiang Cheng rolled his eyes with emphasis.”

aww but you do get to see that, for however much of a little shit he is, Wei Wuxian does care. seeing that his behavior is making Lan Wangji annoyed enough to push past his injury, he leaves so he can stop hurting himself more.
But....AHA this is the information I was waiting for: how the heck the Cloud Recesses got burnt down.
damn, Wen Sect. no wonder the rest of the cultivation world wiped you off the face of the earth.
So, interestingly, they only mention Lan Wangji who got beaten and his leg broken for protecting the Library Pavilion. In some past chapter, it mentions that Lan Xichen saved some of those books and escaped with them.
It’s interesting that Lan Wangji was sent here, instead of Lan Xichen who wasn’t injured as far as I know.
ahhh but Wei Wuxian actually took notice of what Lan Wangji was doing. do you do this to everyone or >>. well, he is an observant person, but he does pay some special attention to Lan Zhan here
then he just states “I’m gonna carry him.” I love how he totally doesn’t take into account that the last thing the proud Lan Wangji who “who valued proper conduct beyond anything” probably...would not want you to carry him. just a thought.
“It’s alright if he hates me—I don’t hate him. I’ll get him onto my back the second I get hold of him. Could he possibly choke me to death while on my back?”
this boy’s logic is golden.
“First, this isn’t a triviality. Second, things like this, somebody will have to care about them, sooner or later!”

Wei Wuxian is the type to do something because it’s right, or what he wants to do, not because someone else wants him to do it. It’s one of the good parts of his shamelessness, but it’s also kind of dangerous.
geez, what dictators. who walks around holding a branding iron all the time to stick people with??
Also, this explains where Wei Wuxian got his.
lol how did anyone even get word that a beast thing was supposed to be in this general location. how did anyone figure this out. it’s hidden way underground in a lake.
Aahh poor Jin Zixuan, I feel a bit bad for him. He’s a bit of a prick, but not a bad guy. This is why the flashbacks are nice, we get to know a bit about guys like him. Also, Jin Ling shares several similarities with him in terms of personality...
“This time, Wei WuXian could relate to his feelings on a profound level. No matter what creatures haunted this cave, facing them would be much more comfortable than facing Wen Chao and the others.”

Anyways, down the rabbit hole we go.
I once again wonder how anyone knew to even look in this general location for a beast. It’s pretty well hidden.
Poor Mianmian. I guess she doesn’t survive this whole arc, since there’s absolutely no mention of her in the present. But for now, at least, Jin Zixuan and Lan Wangji refuse to let them use her as human bait.
geez, though, the Wen people don’t even care if the person is a disciple of their own sect: “he was certain that she wasn’t part of the sect’s clan. She was at most a disciple, so she’d surely be the perfect bait”

actually, it seems that the two with the most pride end up being the ones who (literally) make a stand. both him and Lan Wangji are quite proud guys, in different ways.
“Although he didn’t say anything, the way he looked at the disciple was more than imposing. What such a look meant was clear to everyone—it truly is a shame that the GusuLan Sect has taught a disciple like you!”
ooh now we know how the scary Hanguang-jun that Jin Ling is afraid of came about lol.
And of course, Wei Wuxian must jump in and add his two cents. he really is a clever guy, haha, reciting their ancestors at them word-for-word.
“All those who oppress others and do evil relying on the power of their clan should be killed. Not only that, they should be beheaded for tens of thousands to revile so that those to come would beware.”
ironically, Nie Mingjue kills Wen Chao’s older brother, Wen Xu, during the Sunshot Campaign by beheading him as a warning to the Wen sect soldiers.

Ichijou Kaname
Kaname’s alright. I don’t love him but I don’t hate him either. His design is kinda dumb with the white hair, but I also kind of like that it’s just a touch of flair in an otherwise sort of normal uniform attire. The headphones are cool too and I really like that they actually have a story purpose and aren’t just decoration.
Personality-wise, so far Kaname’s very white-bread VN protag material, though the being able to see lies as a result of his synesthesia is kind of interesting. I hate how he talks most of the time because it’s so stereotypically anime douche-style, but I do like that he doesn’t spend all of his internal monologue thinking about how he needs to protect Ichika or anything. Plus if he’s filled with murderous revenge rage, that’s always a plus for me.
He’s flawed, is what I’m saying, which is really nice.
Houshi Ichika
I just cannot even with this design. What the fuck. Like I mentioned in my LP, she ticks so many boxes on the trope-o-meter that she just about breaks it: childhood friend/probable love interest; stupid pun name; love of sweet food (strawberries in this case, also relating back to dumb pun name); dog collar; chain; dog collar; thigh belt; ribbon; DOG COLLAR; school uniform no school would ever assign; etc.
However, despite her constant “I’ll do whatever you say, Kaname” thing, she actually seems semi-reasonable? I did like the part where she physically held Kaname’s face in place so he couldn’t see Misa get eaten because it could either mean that she’s a good friend concerned about his emotional state, or she knows that something else is going on here and wants to keep his attention focused elsewhere.
Fingers crossed for crazy mastermind-type but not of the yandere variety.
Ichijou Misa
Misa’s okay. She’s a stereotypical anime kid sister. Served her role in the story so far just fine I guess. May or may not be Noori. Makes me appreciate how dynamic Komaru is in comparison.
My only thing with her is that the game’s website claims she’s 13, but she doesn’t act 13, she acts like she’s 6. This is a common problem a lot of fiction has when people are not used to being around actual kids and pre-teens–this is what made later seasons of Buffy after Dawn was introduced so obnoxious.
Official site also calls her a moodmaker which in VN lingo is never a good sign.
Noori
Totally Not Misa You Guys. Man I really hope they subvert that…
What’s kind of interesting about Noori is that the game is treating her amnesia as the serious condition it would be in real life. Like there are drawbacks and side effects to it like not knowing how to speak or process what’s going on around her. Makes the situation less tropey and moe and more realistic and sad, so I appreciate that.
Since Alice already lampshaded the Imouto Route thing, I’m hoping we get to avoid that as well and instead Noori will be like…the personification of Kaname’s pathological desire to protect his sister and infantilize her rather than recognize that she was an individual.
(My hopes are not super high about that though.)
Himeno Miori
Textbook shy girl with glasses trope so far. It is a little interesting how her brother and Michimune sort of try to override her opinions all the time and we get to see her fighting back for once in the first(?) election in the flashback. She seems poised to get a character arc revolving around breaking free of her trio and being her own person.
Since Miori is only two years older than Misa and yet is recognized as acting more as a real person and not as a toddler, maybe the game could be setting up a clever parallel between how Michimune and Yuuri try to babify Miori and how Kaname never wanted to admit that his sister was growing up?
Hush, let me construct a more layered and nuanced story for myself to enjoy okay?
Himeno Yuuri
Shouta character extraordinaire. Yuuri hasn’t really done much so far so I don’t have much of an opinion on him yet. I do think it’s weird that Kaname recognizes him as a boy in the dark square just after a massacre but then gets confused in the relatively calm setting of the observatory under actual lighting.
Again, only one year older than Misa, yet acts completely different. Does ascending to chuuni suddenly make people rapidly mature mentally in this universe?
Also, is he wearing garters under his knees to hold up his socks? Watch yourself, boy. You’re edging in on Ichika’s dumb design territory.
Isurugi Michimune
I don’t know why, but I just really like Michimune’s design. Perhaps it’s the relative simplicity of it, or the fact that I just happen to like navy and orange as a color combo, who knows.
I don’t have much of an issue with Michimune so far–I like that he’s kind of hot headed but trying not to be. Like he’s easily goaded into starting to go for Alice just by Izuki calling him a pansy, despite that he knows deep down it’s a bad idea.
Basically he’s also clearly flawed and I like that. He’s a character dealing with an internal struggle–trying to temper is own natural inclinations for the sake of his friends. According to the website he’s best friends with Yuuri and wants to protect both him and his big sister Miori, which is a kind of interesting parallel with Kaname that I hope goes somewhere interesting.
Ayara Izuki
I love this guy. I just…look at him. Fucking look at him. Look at his blue hair. Look at his neon pink hoodie. Look at his skull spider tattoo. Look at his highlighter yellow t-shirt. Look at his 90s hi-tops and his edgelord piercings. Look at his black neck bandanna. Look at how he wears a pair of handcuffs as a bracelet. LOOK AT HOW HIS HOODIE HAS THE SAME DESIGN AS HIS TATTOO.
This character’s design is a fucking train wreck, but in an entirely different way than Ichika. Like the game both kind of does and doesn’t seem to be taking the character designs seriously (Alice does make a quip about Ichika’s chain) but like…oh my god. This is just so fucking wonderful. It’s like a kaleidoscope that’s been sharpened into a butter knife.
Anyway, Izuki is your standard combative bad boy archetype. He’s 20 and jobless, according to the website. Nothing TOO interesting so far but I just love his stupid design so damn much that I want him to hang around for awhile (and ideally subvert the obvious assumption that he killed someone in the past, but hey).
Ninchouji Issei
So if Ichika is here to bait in thirsty otaku dudes, Issei is a little something for the ladies. His design is basically “Togami, but a chef” and his personality is…well, basically it’s kind of just “Togami, but a chef and without the really obvious disdain for everyone”. What I mean by that is that he’s the character who seems almost intrigued by the premise of this game and has a bit of a haughty, I-know-more-than-you-fools vibe going on.
That might be because he’s 25 and a chef and he’s stuck in this theme park with a bunch of kids, but who knows.
Isumi Hakushuu
I am still not over the fact that his first name sounds so close to the Japanese word for “applause” or the fact that his design is best described as “preppy Amami” (I can picture Amami going undercover as Hakushuu and Avril Lavigne singing “Complicated” as a result). He’s 20, he’s in college, he’s apparently the twins’ neighbor in their, I assume, gated community with high HOA fees.
So far he seems like he’ll be the calm, smart character, possibly betray everyone later on in the story. Or like maybe he’ll seem like he’s really in the game to win but then later he and Kaname become bros or something.
Personally I’m about as meh about him as I was about Amami.
Tadenomiya Aasha
One half of this VN’s twin set (the older one iirc?). Seems like Aasha is more interested in Western Gothic fashion, and she wears a black rose-shaped patch over her left eye, perhaps as a fashion statement or perhaps because she and Kaasha share an eye or something I dunno.
God this design. Half blue/half green hair, the handle to her parasol being shaped like a gun, the headgear…like what is that? Is she some kind of maid queen?
Anyway, the twins so far are both overly formal, seems haughty and antagonistic, and obsessed with Hakushuu for some reason I assume will never be adequately explained.
Also of note is that both twins are the same age as Misa, and the website says that they’re very advanced for their age. No, game, they’re not really. They act like typical chuunibyou mofos. They are being pretentious and embarrassing and act like they know everything, and I have encountered many 13-year-olds who are just like that.
Tadenomiya Kaasha
Other half of this game’s VN twin set (I think the younger one). This one comes in Japanese flavor, with the hakama and sword handle to her hikasa and white…what kind of flower is that? Anyway, a white flower over her right eye because in my mind the twins share an eye between them that gives them the ability to see other people’s abilities and that’s how they find out about Kaname’s lie-seeing thing and sorry. Trying to keep myself entertained.
Anyway, Kaasha so far has pretty much the same personality as Aasha. I really hope they both team up to mess people up rather than fight each other for Hakushuu’s attention, but if I’m being honest I already know that’s where we’re headed.
*sigh*
Yurizono Shihori
We’re still troping it up but we’ve now hit the trope I personally like–resting bitch face. Shihori don’t give a fuck about what’s going on here. She doesn’t have time to wear a bra, to emote, or give one single shit about the situation. She’s also strangely absent in the flashback but I don’t know what that means yet. Possibly that she will be a fake-out mastermind candidate later on in the game?
Design-wise I’m not sure how I feel about the boots or the fishnets, but other than that it’s fine. Pretty simple and more to my taste than the complicated stuff. Love the Kingdom Hearts-inspired design on her shirt too. Also her last name is literally just “lily garden” I mean come on. This hole was made for me.
Shihori is apparently 21 and a college student, hence her apathy about life probably. Also according to the website she has poor eyesight and carries around glasses but doesn’t wear them. See, that’s the kind of small personal detail that makes a character likable. That’s like a DR character trait.
Alice
Alice is my actual fave so far. She’s not TOO close to Monokuma, but there’s just enough resonance to make her fun. Alice is the only one who seems to be lampshading these dumb design choices or stock personality traits too, which I appreciate immensely.
As for her design, I like it. There’s that one weird ¾ sprite that looks kind of odd, but other than that she’s really cute and otherworldly. Like she’s clearly robotic but also clearly a rabbit which fits with the Wonderland theme, and she’s got the cute voice that’s really expressive (and a nice change of pace from the human characters, who for the most part are all pretty monotone so far…especially Kaname).
So yeah. There’s my thoughts so far on the Exile Election cast. I suppose I can update as I continue to play.

How I entered/learnedabout the said game/show/movie/etc of that fandom:
Let me take you back to Valentine’s Day 2015. I was waiting for Starkid to upload their new Trail toOregon musical, and I was in the mood to watch something cute and fluffy totreat myself in the meantime. I had been considering trying to get back intoanime again, so naturally I went looking through some deviantart polls forValentine’s Day anime recommendations. Because why not? It was a perfectopportunity.
Then, Isaw it. Someone highly recommending a hilarious new show about “gay magical boys”and that intrigued me. I hadn’t heard of magical boys before, so I was like“okay, this HAS to be good” and I Googled it and discovered that 6episodes had already come out. Perfect!
I watchedthe first episode and I laughed harder than I had in a long time. I was soamazed by how clever and whimsical the parody was that I kept watching all theway through. And I immediately called my older brother afterwards to explain tohim exactly what I had just watched because I thought he would appreciate it asmuch as I did. We were both laughing so hard, it was great. Best Valentine’s Day up to that point (especially since I began watching Coffee Prince later that night after watching the Starkid musical and that was a whole other world of beautiful). XD
I toldmyself I wouldn’t get involved with the fandom. This was going to be my privatespecial thing that gave me joy every week when I so desperately neededsomething as pure as magical boys saving the world with the power of love,since I was lacking so much light in my life then. I caved exactly three dayslater and dived head on into the Tumblr tag. Boueibu has since taken over mylife. I had also told myself I wouldn’t write fic, but I wanted to give somethingback to the wonderful, loving, and accepting community that I had found, so… Iended up getting in over my head with that, too. ;;v;;
And I’vemade (and keep making) so many amazing friends because of this series, so Ihave a lot to be grateful for.
Fave character:
I loveevery character in the series! Main characters, the loveless, animal mascots, side/guest/backgroundcharacters, even characters that didn’t get any lines because they were onlythere to fill in space. I love each and every one of them! They are all mybabies~
But…thanks to the otome game, Io is special.
I mean, one of my favorite scenes inthe anime is the bathroom scene in S1E3 because, Io, oh my god why, but thegame is something else. All of the moments in the Io/Ryuu route where Io talkedabout dressing Ryuu up in costumes to make money off him just made me go“omfg, child, what even are you?!”, but it was the moment where theygo shopping with protag-chan that really sealed it for me.
Io and Ryuu pick outan article of clothing that they think protag-chan should buy (Ryuu chooses askirt and Io chooses a sweater) and protag-chan has the option of choosing apair of shorts for herself. And if she chooses the shorts, Io commentssomething along the lines of “But aren’t they a bit short?” and myreaction was just “CHILD PLEASE! THEY ARE SHORTS! THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO BESHORT! THAT IS THE POINT! AND THEY AREN’T EVEN THAT SHORT ON HER EITHER. OH MYGOD YOU POOR PRECIOUS THING. THAT’S IT YOU’RE MINE NOW. I AM ADOPTINGYOU.”
And therest is history.

I love how accepting, loving, and supportive the fandom wasduring season 1. It was like having a small family here and it was a beacon of light in a very dark time for me. Ever since season 2, I’vebeen a bit distant from the fandom for personal reasons, but it’s still reallycomforting to see that there are still so many people trying to make this fandoma welcoming place. ;;w;;
The most despisedthing:
I couldhave definitely done without the violence/aggressiveness, especially regardingthe twins, ever since season 2 started airing. I had to retreat from the fandomwhile that happened because I didn’t really like being called an “abuseapologist” and other downright uncalled-for things for liking the twins orfor simply liking what the season had to offer. Thankfully, that has died downquite a bit in the last few months, but I still occasionally see things that makeme feel a bit alienated. For my own health, I’ve just learned how to seek outthe good things and avoid/ignore the bad, though. Everyone is absolutely entitled to their opinion, but bullying people over a difference in opinions is something that should never happen and now I’m wary of certain subjects because of it. ^^’
If there is somethingI would change from said game/show/movie/etc., what would it be:
Oh god, Idon’t even want to answer this question, so I’ll keep it short.
The cuddlejokes in season 1 got out of hand real fast and started to make meuncomfortable about halfway through (even though I appreciated how it was used to subvert common shota tropes), so I was glad that they toned it down alot in season 2. Though, the dead sensei jokes increased to compensate, itseems. Please let Tawarayama-sensei live. He has a family. They miss him somuch. Think of the children. AND, HONESTLY, HE COULD BE SUCH A GREAT MENTOR TOTHE BOYS IN THIS SITUATION IF GIVEN THE CHANCE.
Otherwise,the writing in season 2 could have been a bit stronger. I think the staff didthe best they could with the time and resources they had and I appreciate itgreatly, but it could have been paced a bit differently to give each of thecharacters a proper focus. I won’t go into detail about that because I don’twant to spoil it anymore for you and, also, I really don’t want to talk about myopinions publicly. ;v;
Most of myconcerns/issues with the series will eventually be addressed in my series rewrite anyway… where I simultaneously proceed tomake few things better and everything worse. //bricked

Ambiguous open ending sounds more interesting, because that way we can have unlimited possible endings as many as possible 👀✨
So what I've got in my mind about that Garou&Badd's dialogue endings are basically like these:
-Silly dumb route:
I had older headcanon that they likes to chat random topics that often escalated into debate or making some stupid conspiracy theories ALL. NIGHT. LONG, lmao! Usually it was Garou who spout some random nonsenses first that Badd couldn't help but giving him responses, but occasionally Badd also suddenly bringing up some intriguing topics that pulling Garou's interest, lol!
Let them being dumbass boyfriends who just likes to share silly interests with eachother 😆
-Heartwarming happy route:
Y'know Badd is secretly a hopeless romantic who loves lovely idea of having soulmates that always find eachother no matter what? He was thinking that despite his first meeting moment with Garou wasn't perfect like what he imagined before (being enemies and not so lovey-dovey), but he loves Garou so much and sure that the wolfboy is his fated soulmate. And he wanted to know if Garou shared the same thought as him..
In which Garou reciprocated him, hence the sweet promise between them 😚
-Hurt/comfort route:
I mentioned before that Badd's mom was the one who tell him about the soulmate concept, right? Badd missed his mom that night that's why he brings up the topic to Garou. He wasn't sure if soulmates are real or not.
If the concept is real, he wanted to make sure Garou wont forget him in the next life. But ithe concept isn't real, he still wanted to be with Garou forever, spending time and living their life as best as they could.. :"")
And Garou was here to comfort Badd and tried to get him sleeping soon, because they must go to work in the morning lol! 😂
-Angsty/sad route:
This is actually the original ending before I scrapped off because I wasn't satisfied by it, lol. The dialogue was made when I was in my not-so-good days, and it was supposed to have one more line in the ending of their dialogues, something like "On the next morning, the rescue team found Garou and Badd died on eachother's arms" 😢💔
So the backstory, they both just finished their mission together, Badd was unfortunately fatally wounded before Garou could shielded him and he went berserk. Then to accompany Badd's last moment, Garou craddled him in his arms while exchanging convos just like they usually do when sleeping together. As Badd went to eternal sleep, Garou lost his will to live and died together with him. Hopefully Badd's story is true so they could meet eachother again.
It was winter and the location was kinda difficult to reach, so the rescue team were too late to save them.
I scrapped off this idea because beside it was too sad, the plot was basically just like my Reincarnated Demon/Angel AU where Badd died, Garou went berserk and died too, before both get reincarnated as demon/angel (enemies again). Thus I decided to make it open ending with happier-leaning possibilities like on above examples 😅
BUT! After I read your interpretation in your tags: #so the second time I read it I thought maybe Badd has memories from a past life?? #possibly multiple liftetimes :’) #and every time garou forgets #but of course they find each other again #and badd tries to make sure he remembers this time around 😭

Y'know I usually write stories where they both still can obtaining happy ending together despite experiencing angsty stuff throughout the story. And your interpretation is perfect for that situation! 😚👍
Tbh it reminds me of Madoka Magica story, where one of the protags has a controlling-time magic power which allowed her to go back in the past, just so she could save her bestfriend (or love interest). Even they have shared a promise that they wont forget eachother no matter what, which unfortunately the protags' bestfriend forget her everytime they meet again in different timelines. The anime looked so cute but actually very depressing (has nice OST and heart-touching sweet ending, though!).
But I believe despite being reborn, meeting again, then separated again by death, Garou and Badd still have the best happy life in each lifetimes! And even though Garou always ended up forgets about their past life, he never fails to find Badd just like what they have promised before, aww.. 😍😚💕
It gives Badd hopes that at least in the deepest Garou's mind, he never actually forgets their vow. It's like, the vow has already stamped on Garou's soul :"")💕
So in the end, Garou and Badd will always find happiness in their perfectly-imperfect life together as destined soulmates. They deserved happy ending throughout the whole hardship 👍💖💝

And for the hurt/comfort one asjdkslsk *clutches chest* Badd probably struggles with just coming out and saying he’s missing his mom, but surely Garou’s realized by now how important family is to Badd, and he knows to give him all his love and comfort whenever he mentions her awww 🥺
