If you're still doing asks bestie,,, 3, 13 and 14 for the twins? And maybe Isobel if you're feeling up to it!! I adore them
do the twins have any kind of crafting skills that aren’t in-game?
answering for both the twins together for this one bc they're both musicians!! we all know robin's a thief and has some pretty nimble fingers bc of it, so he also took very well to instruments like the piano and lute. marci on the other hand is a trained singer (fun fact: while i was describing her voice in the fic, the song that i listened to on repeat was i wonder lol). the two will often put on little performances if they ever have some guests over. unlike with most things their mother pushed them into though, they do actually really enjoy music!
does isobel have any kind of crafting skills that aren’t in-game?
art!! when she was in karthwasten, she loved to gather rocks and paint on them, and she kept them in a little box under her bed or even lined them along the karth river. she also painted bones if she ever went hunting with her parents. her favorite piece was a deer skull she skinned and cleaned herself, then painted flowers all along the surface. whenever she was in markarth, she convinced ursula to let her stand on her shoulders so she could reach high up the walls and paint their clan's symbol. she still paints to this day, though she mostly keeps it to pottery and canvas.
do your oc's have any particular rivalry or mutual dislike with any npc?
i MEAN the obvious answer is thonar and thongvor for sure. they weren't too thrilled to welcome a bunch of reachfolk into the silver-blood family, and they see isobel and her kids all as a sort of threat to the empire they've built. rivalry is a very weak word to describe it though.
robin is ready to throw down with a ton of people honestly, especially rich and/or noble people that have their heads shoved up their asses. maven black-briar, elenwen, erikur, siddgeir, etc. are the ones that come to mind right off the bat. they're stuck up, entitled, and altogether shitty people. he's definitely stolen from them plenty of times, pulled countless pranks on them, and done just about everything he can think of to get in their way. he's been caught a few times, and it doesn't escape their notice that something always happens to go wrong when he's around, so they all dislike him in equal measure.
for marceline, she might occasionally get roped into robin's antics, but generally she keeps to herself, so she flies under people's radar quite a bit. she definitely has a lot of people she like... side-eyes though, and they're usually just about anyone who's an ass to robin. people make it very clear when they look down on him as the screw-up in the family, and she hates those people a LOT.
as for isobel, she generally tries to not get on anyone's bad side, so i'd say there isn't anyone specific that stands out to her as being a rival. but she definitely doesn't like a lot of the people she has to engage with, including the people i listed above for robin. they're all very condescending to her about her parenting and some of them are pretty clearly prejudiced against her people, but she just tries to be polite in the face of it all.
how well-liked is robin? what is his reputation, if he's well-known? is he simply liked/disliked, or is he respected but feared, or personally liked but not taken seriously, etc? do major factions consider him an important player?
robin is not very well liked, and he's pretty well aware of it. for the most part, it's people he doesn't like that don't like him back (for the same reasons i mentioned above), so he can't be too upset by it, but given the fact that that's the majority of his social circle, it does sting. he likes to make friends with the less fortunate people around the cities he visits (beggars and thieves and what have you, thanks nocturnal) and he generally gets on well with them, but there's definitely this underlying sense that he'll never understand their struggles, so a lot of them dislike him for the privilege he was born with. in general, his reputation is very much "the bad kid in the family / the black sheep." as for major factions, he gets pretty deeply involved in the reachfolk uprising later on in the story!!
how well-liked is marceline? what is her reputation, if she's well-known? is she simply liked/disliked, or is she respected but feared, or personally liked but not taken seriously, etc? do major factions consider her an important player?
marceline puts on a facade of a very quiet, introverted, polite girl, so most people buy into it. i guess you could say she's well-liked in her station, if a bit muted and hard to read. she very rarely shows any aspects of her personality, so people don't have much to say about her. she's definitely known, given her family's status, but she manages to fly under the radar pretty easily. she... does a complete 180 on this by the end of the story lmao, girlie gets her glo up moment <3 in terms of which factions consider her a major player, she also ends up playing a big role in the uprising.
how well-liked is isobel? what is her reputation, if she's well-known? is she simply liked/disliked, or is she respected but feared, or personally liked but not taken seriously, etc? do major factions consider her an important player?
isobel's reputation is something she's very, very hyper-aware of. she carefully curated this image of herself as strong but not threatening, elegant but not delicate, confident but not stuck up. if it sounds like it'd drive someone insane, that's bc it would <3 for the most part, she's successful in building this reputation. most people in her social circle quite like her, save for a few of the least savory of the bunch. having said that, there are definitely some rumors she's desperately trying to quash that she bewitched her husband or something to gain social status. she's the talk of a lot of unpleasant gossip.

A Christmas Gift for Team MTAL: Two Questions, One Answer
This is my Secret Santa Christmas gift for @team-mtal. They’re a pretty cool RWBY oc blog, check them out!
I had a lot of fun writing this - as soon as I learned about Corax and Viridian, I had to write about them. I only listened to two songs on repeat while writing this: Rey’s theme from Star Wars and Marceline’s “Slow Dance with You.” It shouldn’t be hard to guess at which parts.
In any case, enjoy!
Two Questions, One Answer
By Elfcow
Red leaves fell in endless spirals, scribbling out hasty messages in a script too long and slow for mortals to know. Viridian Amidala passed through the crimson partition, a grin breaking out on her face. The noble trees of Forever Fall watched sternly as she traipsed through the grove, scowling at her, a bright burst of green amidst all the reds and yellows. She knew the forest stretched out for hundreds of kilometers, but the canopy just felt so cozy overhead! With every step she felt the forest cradling her, the leaves underfoot softening her every step, the wind’s slender fingers sliding through her hair. And on the wind rode the faintest of notes; sounds that were not native to these woods, sounds not born from the throats of beast or Grimm. Deep within a sea of red Viridian heard music, and she knew she had found her quarry.
“Not, you know, the pile of rocks kind of quarry,” Viridian said, to no one in particular. “Well, it’s a hole in rock, really, but nevermind! I mean the kind of quarry that you hunt.” The looming trees frowned at her, their crimson foreheads crinkling. “It’s a friendly kind of hunting! ‘Cause that’s what she is. A friend.” Viridian adjusted her belt, feeling a heat in her cheeks. “That’s all she is. A really good friend. Even though we haven’t talked since the dance, and it’s been like a whole week. So I’m going to talk to her if have to tie her down for it. Well, you know, not like that, but you know.” She patted Navitas where it hung from her belt three times for good luck and pressed on. The music grew louder.
Viridian stopped at the edge of a small clearing. There she was, sitting in the fork of a great tree’s limb, utterly unaware of Viridian’s presence. Corax Branwen. Also known as the the most absolutely, positively stunning drop-dead beautiful Huntress-in-training in the entire world who was definitely worth getting lost in a Grimm-infested forest for, but Corax was shorter, so hey. Corax curled against the trunk of her tree, her wings hanging dark and lustrous around her. Everything about her was black and red; red shirt, black jacket, red glasses, black boots, red eyes, black hair. Misericordiam, her double-ended scythe, lay heavy and black on her back. Even her guitar was blood-red. Corax cradled the instrument to her with a fearsome tenderness, her calloused fingers wringing pure melancholy from the strings. The music reached Viridian in her hiding place, brushed aside her every defense like autumn leaves, piercing to that deep and secret place inside of her where no words were needed. Tears welled in Viridian’s eyes, but then Corax changed chords and the moment passed. Viridian wiped her eyes and took a step forward, but paused. She had planned to jump up to her friend right away, but something told her to wait.
Corax teased one mournful note from her guitar, and she began to sing.
Her words were aching, haunting. They raised goosebumps on Viridian’s arms and kindled a fire in her bones. Corax was singing so softly that Viridian had to strain to hear the words, but still she felt the intensity of longing that resonated in between the words. She felt weightless, as though she might drift out of her skin at any moment. The passion in Corax’s voice struck her, and she shivered.
Corax missed a note, her fingers fumbling to recover, and she stopped, her freckled face creasing with frustration. The spell was broken. And as cute as Corax’s expression was, this was the perfect chance to hop in.
“Hey, Corey!” Viridian popped out into the clearing. “Who are you singing about?”
“AAAH!” Corax sprang right off of the branch, her wings flaring, her arms flailing in surprise, her cheeks shot full of scarlet. Corax’s wings kept her aloft, but her guitar was tumbling, spinning, falling towards the ground. Viridian shot out her hand, her hair stirring as her power surged within her. The guitar jerked to a halt a meter from the ground, before floating lazily back up, freed from the embrace of gravity.
“Sorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorrysorry!” Viridian said. She focused her Semblance, gripping invisible strings of gravity to lift the guitar gently towards to its owner. Corax settled back on the branch, her wings folding in as she snatched her guitar to her chest.
“Don’t do that!” Corax said.
Viridian giggled, then clapped her hand to her mouth, which only made her laugh harder.
“It’s not funny. You scared the daylights out of me! You shouldn’t sneak up on people like that.”
Viridian tossed her hair over her shoulder. “I’m not exactly the stealthiest person, you know.”
“Stealthy, no. Sneaky, yes.”
“I’ll take that.” Viridian flashed a cheeky grin at Corax. “Your song is beautiful! Who is it about?”
Corax bit her lip. “It wasn’t that good.”
“Oh come on, that was magical. It made me feel like I was floating.”
Corax blushed and pushed her glasses up her nose. “That’s very kind of you.” Her eyes darted away. “But it’s not for anyone yet. It’s not even finished.”
“I can tell when you’re lying, you know.” Viridian crossed her arms. “You always look up and to the left when you do it.”
Worry flashed in Corax’s face. “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean—”
“No, it’s ok!” Viridian raised her hands, the fearful voices in her head subsiding at the care in Corax’s voice. “I just loved your song, and I wanted to know more about it.”
Corax smiled, and Viridian melted a little at the warmth in those burning red eyes. Corax leaned back against the trunk and strummed a bold chord.
“I’ll tell you who—what the song’s about, if you answer my question. What are you doing here?”
“I came to talk to you! We haven’t talked since...well, we haven’t talked! You and I, we’re best friends, it’s ridiculous that we haven’t talked, or done friend things…” Viridian decided to stop talking while she was still ahead.
“And  that’s the only reason you came? Nothing else?”
“I…” Viridian stamped her foot. “That’s not fair! You know I can’t lie!” Was Corax smirking at her?
“Well, I guess you’ll have to meet me halfway if you want to learn about my song.” Corax shrugged at Viridian’s outrage and leaned back against the tree trunk, her one boot propped against the bark somehow making her stance immeasurably cooler. “A question for a question, that’s how it goes.”
“Or…” Viridian unclipped Navitas from her belt, twirling the silver hilt in her fingers. “We could settle whose question gets answered the old-fashioned way.”
“You’ve got to be kidding me.”
“C’mon, it will be fun! You, me, some life or death stakes.”
“And the inevitable Grimm that show up.”
“Yeah! You in?”
“Oh, absolutely not,” Corax turned and stretched nonchalantly, confidence radiating from every line of her body. Corax looked relaxed, but Viridian knew better; she could see the tension in Corax’s muscles, the hair-trigger readiness in the quivering of her feathers. Corax hung her guitar on a nearby branch and turned, her knees bending ever so slightly. “I guess you’re just doomed to be disappointed, V.”
Viridian braced herself, her thumb tense on the trigger. “What a shame, I was looking FORWARD TO IT!” She leapt mid-sentence, blasting off in a shower of leaves at a speed only a Huntress could attain. She thumbed the trigger, and with a snap-hiss Navitas ignited. She swung, but Corax slid away in a blur as a pale green blade scorched the air where Corax had existed only a moment prior.
Corax skidded to a halt further out on the tree limb, her wings flaring for balance. smirking as Viridian struggled to regain her footing. Viridian severed the branch with a shower of sparks, forcing Corax to fling herself backwards and land in another tree.
“You can’t win if you can’t catch me.”
“And you can’t win if you won’t stand and fight!” Viridian closed the distance in a bound, her energy sword plunging into the tree’s heart as Corax sprang away. Viridian hollered and gave chase, her heart thundering in her ears.
Corax bounced from tree to tree like a ping pong ball, Viridian following as though yanked on the end of a string. Corax hit each tree trunk the same way, boot-boot hand, one-two pap, the model of smooth efficiency. Viridian landed and launched off of each tree with one foot, drawing deep on her Aura to power through each step. Tunnel vision crept in as Viridian passed over, under, through branches, Corax’s black outline and red streaks becoming her entire world. Viridian twirled Navitas, cutting bright green slashes through the world, slicing branches out of her way. She focused on Corax’s bobbing black ponytail, drawing closer with every leap.
Soon Navitas’ fiery tongue was nicking Corax’s heels with every swipe, and there was an added desperation in her every jump. Corax lunged into open space, her wings unfurling, propelling her forward.  She kept them tight to avoid snaring branches; at its full extension, her wingspan was wider than Viridian and Corax lying end to end. But even constrained, the beating of her wings shook the forest, and propelled her at a speed Viridian could never attain.
Viridian gasped, struggling even to keep Corax in sight now. How could she possibly ground her? Oh! Of course! She thrust out her hand, tugging at the strings of reality. Viridian reached deep, deep within herself, where words did not exist, and focused her Semblance like she never had before.
Gravity pulled heavier on Corax’s body, only a fraction more than normal, and only for a moment, but that fraction was enough. Corax dipped ever so slightly, and smashed face first through a tree limb, shattering it. She slammed into the ground and dug a furrow into the soil, her Aura flaring an angry scarlet at the indignity of it all. Viridian skidded to a stop before Corax in a shower of leaves, her blade buzzing excitedly.
“Ready to stand and fight, Craven Branwen?” Viridian had only a moment to laugh at her own joke before Corax interrupted her. Specifically, Corax’s boot interrupted her. Right in the face.
Viridian slammed back-first into a tree trunk before falling to her feet. Her Aura fizzled to match her blade for a moment before clearing.
“Ok, I kinda deserved that one.”
“Yeah, you did.” Corax settled into a stance, her hands loose and fluid in front of her. For a moment Viridian was worried that Corax was actually mad, but there was that secret smile again, twisting the corner of Corax’s mouth. Viridian grinned, and charged.
She drove at Corax, thrusting her blade like flashes of lightning, spinning and stabbing backwards and overhead for extra reach. Corax kept her spine straight and spiraled her upper body as she backpedaled, flowing around Viridian’s blade like water. Corax reached up and unclasped her double-ended scythe from her back as she ducked under the energy beam, using her body’s own momentum to spin the fearsome weapon. Corax twirled her scythe around her chest and neck, deflecting Viridian’s attacks in a whirlwind of black steel.
Viridian actually took a step back for the first time, struggling to keep the biting scythe blades at bay. Sweat glistened on her arms and her breath rasped in in her throat as now she was driven back.
Corax uncoupled her scythes, letting them swing on chains that she looped around her arms and hands. She spun faster and faster, her blades wailing as they cut the air, soon and Viridian found herself in a hurricane of steel.
There was no fighting back. She could only duck, dodge, jump, back handspring, chest to floor and back to feet again as the blades shrieked by. Viridian shut off her weapon, bobbing and weaving and flipping on instinct to escape the dervish. She had to go either in or out, or risk getting hit. A scythe took a chunk of her hair as it hurtled by, practically kissing her cheek. Out it was, then.
Viridian staggered backwards, still dodging, moving towards the edge of the clearing. Corax let more length into the chains, filling the entire clearing with her attack. Viridian contorted herself to pass over one scythe and bounced into one last back handspring over the other blade, landing at the edge of the clearing. On its next pass the scythe blade bit deep into a red tree with a solid thunk, passing mere millimeters in front of Viridian’s nose. The other scythe struck a tree on the opposite side of the clearing chain-first, wrapping around the trunk with terrifying velocity before embedding itself in the wood.
Corax tugged on the chains, but her own technique had been too powerful; her blades were bound, and there she sat, helplessly between them.
“Oh.” Whatever Corax was going to say next was lost; Viridian blasted her right out of the clearing with a flying double kick. Yet another storm of leaves and yet another furrow marked where the patented Amidala Two-Boot delivery system had sent her.
Corax lay sprawled in the leaves, her wings twisted awkwardly beneath her and her hair a leaf-filled mess. And somehow, still absolutely stunning. Viridian didn’t understand it. Corax tried to push herself to her feet, but Viridian was already there. Snap-hiss and Navitas sprung to life, its burning tip at Corax’s nose.
“Yield, O noble Huntress.” Viridian chuckled at her own joke, her sword wavering slightly. Corax’s eyes surged with a deeper flame, a flash of terrifying will shining through. That was all the warning that Viridian got. Corax slapped the blade away with her forearm, crimson ripples dispersing the energy across her body. Before Viridian could breathe strong hands had seized her wrist and collar, and there was a boot somewhere, her stomach maybe, and her world was turning over and over like a dropped snowglobe, until everything righted itself she slammed onto her back, with Corax firmly on top.
Corax moved into a straddle, pinning Viridian’s wrists to the ground with practiced ease. Her wings flared overhead like a raptor claiming its prey. Corax’s glasses lay askew, her hair was completely out of its ponytail, and the remnants of battle still tightened her face into fierce beauty. Viridian felt her breath leave her, which was completely unfair considering she was still winded from the fight.
“It looks like it is you must yield.” Corax leaned in, her hair draping over Viridian’s face. Viridian blushed with her entire body and broke eye contact, wishing she could disappear into the earth. Why must Corax always say things like that, when she would never follow through on it, when she would not even talk to her after what happened?
Corax finally let her go and sat up straight, sweeping her hair back and adjusting her glasses. Viridian decided to interpret this as permission to breath again. She gulped in air in a way that was not altogether cool, and in fact more closely resembled a fish exploring dry land.
Corax glanced down at Viridian. “Are you comfortable?”
“I mean, this wasn’t how I imagined being in this position, but—eeeep!” Viridian clapped her hand to her mouth, far, far too late. Corax only gave a throaty chuckle and shook out her hair, looking up at the sky in what must be disbelief. Viridian wondered if her own Semblance was strong enough to push herself underground. To the center of the planet, preferably.
“So, do I get the answer to my question now?” Corax fluttered her wings. “Since I won?”
“Our Auras are both still intact. How about a draw? We both get our questions answered.”
“Fine. But you go first, since I’m on top.”
Viridian shook her head and focused. She could not mess this up. Not one bit.
“I came out here to talk to you—”
“You already said that—”
“—because you’ve been avoiding me.” For a moment there was stillness, and then a twittering as birds began to return to the clearing. “We were doing great. You and your team were hanging out with us, we were chatting on our scrolls every night, we were fine. And then, at the ball, we, we danced. You danced with me. And then you said you were going to get us punch, but you ducked out, and you haven’t talked to me at all since. At all.
“I don’t even know if something bad happened to you, or if it was something I said, or if you didn’t want to be friends anymore...because you wouldn’t talk to me. So I came out here not only because I was hurt, but because I care about you. And I want to know what’s going on.”
Corax was silent, and her lip quivered, her eyes soft. Was that sadness, pity? If it was pity Viridian just might die of embarrassment. She braced herself for the worst.
“Viridian, I am so, so sorry. I never meant to hurt your feelings. I just…”
Yep, here it comes.
“I needed time to find a way to express how I felt, even to me.”
Wait, what?
“You see, that dance made me feel something I’ve never felt before. I didn’t know how to handle it, so I left. I feel terrible about that now. I didn’t even think of what you must have thought. I just needed to understand.”
“Understand what?” Viridian could not, could not dare to hope…
“To understand how you made me feel.” That secret smile again. “I didn’t know what to do with myself, and I was too embarrassed to talk to you about it, so I did what I always do when I’m confused; I make music about it.”
“What...I, I don’t understand.” Viridian’s mind was racing, and her eyes kept darting back and forth between Corax’s, searching for some explanation. She couldn’t possibly…
“I am sorry for how I acted. But, I hope you will understand.”
“Please, help me understand.” Viridian’s heart pounded in her ears, her whole world shrinking down to Corax’s face.
“In short, I could tell you who my song is about.” The tiniest of smiles bloomed on Corax’s face. “Or I could show you.”
And there, sitting astride Viridian in a forest where it was always fall, always red, always trapped in the moment of the very spark of change, Corax looked her full in the eyes, and she began to sing.
“Oh.” And then, “OH.”
Then Viridian let the music take her, and bear her up, weightless, towards Corax’s waiting smile.

"What in Oblivion were you thinking?"
Isobel's voice was controlled and levelled so as to not raise alarms through the rest of the Blue Palace, but the anger within it was impossible to miss as she scolded her son. Robin sat at the foot of the bed of the largest guest room, where his parents were sleeping in for the night courtesy of the Jarl Elisif and her court.
"I was thinking how unfair it is that we get to attend a stupid, overly elaborate party while people in this very city go cold and hungry," Robin argued, just as angrily but much more pronounced about it. His voice carried through the hall of the castle even through the closed door.
"Keep your voice down, child," Isobel ordered, but he only scoffed. Regardless, she continued, "Your first instinct was to rob the temple? Honestly, Robin, what's gotten into you?"
"I wouldn't have gotten caught if you didn't send the guard to fetch me."
She snapped back, "I wouldn't have needed to send the guard to get you if you'd just stayed in place."
"We made a big show of giving to the temple when we both know they had no plans to put any of their donations to good use. I was cutting out the middleman."
His excuse sent his mother pacing across from him as she rubbed at her tired eyes with the balls of her hands. "I didn't raise you to be a thief, Robin."
"Yes, you did!" He countered, standing up and getting in her way to meet her gaze. "All of us are thieves! You, dad, our uncles, everyone in this fucking palace! We just get to make laws to pretend we aren't as bad as the thugs that roam the streets."
"I am not having this conversation with you again," she said, firmly.
"Good," he huffed. "Then are we done here?"
His mother sighed, knowing there was no progress to be made here. "Just go to your room. Maybe your sisters can talk some sense into you."
Robin rolled his eyes. "Gladly." He gave her an exaggerated bow as he walked backwards out of the door. As soon as he cracked the door open from behind him, he heard the sound of two people falling to the ground.
"Ow!"
"Agh!"
His two sisters groaned in pain as the door hit them where they were clearly eavesdropping. Robin sneered at the sight.
"Hope you two enjoyed the show"
He didn't give them a chance to reply as he stepped over them and made his way around the corner. From the direction he was going, it was clear he wasn't following his mother's order to go to his room.
As the two girls scrambled to their feet, they chased after him, catching up just as he was leaving the front doors of the Blue Palace.
"You two don't know when to quit, do you?" As he stepped out of the building, he let the door close behind him, and Marceline had to push it back open.
"As if you're any better," she said as she rolled her eyes.
"Look, I know what you're trying to do, but I don't want to hear it, okay?" He said, his voice dipping quieter and almost embarrassed, as if implying that he was upset was shameful.
"Then we won't say a thing," Alexandria promised. "Let's just get to the embassy and tough through it, okay?"
Robin truly did make an effort to give his older sister a smile, but he could only get part way there before his sour mood ruined the attempt. That, he expected, was roughly as good as the New Life celebration would go for him.
They boarded the carriage, arriving at the embassy with only a few seconds to spare. And as the party went on, Robin found his prediction very much was correct.
He'd always felt out of place at these functions, but most of all at the Thalmor embassy. The eyes of the guards trailed him everywhere he went, leaving him feeling exposed. It was the worst feeling he could think of, to be so seen.
He spend much of the party with his sisters, refusing to mingle with all the people that, at one point or the other in the evening, had given him a look of judgement or distrust. Odds are, they were making accurate judgements, but it hurt nonetheless.
While his sisters trailed off to mingle—they were always more sociable than he—Robin was left to stare down at the snack in his hands. An overly-sugary sweetroll that he took nibbles from.
"Looks like you're enjoying yourself."
He was startled out of his brooding thoughts by his twin sister's sarcastic comment. He resisted the urge to roll his eyes and instead matched her sarcasm.
"Oh, yes. Nowhere else I'd rather be."
"Oh, I can tell," Marceline said. Dropping the sarcasm and lowering her volume, she asked, "Seriously, how bad do you want to get out of here?"
"It's taking every ounce of willpower I have to not bolt out into the wilderness."
"Good." Marceline grinned. "Then I have an idea. Follow my lead."
"What are you doing this ti—"
Before he could finish his statement, Marceline collapsed into his arms, a tired expression on her face.
Ah, the medical emergency card. A classic.
He never understood how his sister could do this so easily. Even her face was paler, and her breathing slower, as if she truly had fainted.
A crowd formed around them both, and their mother told everyone to back off and give Marceline some room to breathe. She demanded a guard pick her up and take her to one of the many bedrooms at the embassy, and Elenwen nodded hesitantly to him as she looked at the child.
Before long, the whole family were guided to the second building in the back of the embassy, where the bedrooms for foreign diplomats that came and went were located. Marceline lay on the bed, and she smiled at Isobel, who had been dabbing a wet cloth to her forehead.
"I'll be okay," Marceline promised with a half-smile. "You can all go back, if you need."
"Absolutely not," Isobel said. "Oh, you know how it is around crowds. It gets so stuffy. Do you need some fresh air? Or some water? I could have the servant fetch you some—"
"Mama, I'm alright," she gave a tired laugh. "You and dad have important things to do. Just let Lex and Robin stay."
Isobel hesitated, but gave in eventually. "Okay. But if you need anything, tell us, okay?" She pressed a kiss to her daughter's head before heading out with Branor, leaving the three siblings alone.
As soon as the door shut, Marceline dropped the act and sat up, grinning. She gave a half-bow from where she sat. "Thank you, thank you. Please, hold the applause."
"You're milking it," Alexandria said, but she too was grinning.
"It was some of my finest work. Oh, but who am I kidding. All my work is fine." She leaned back against the headrest with her arms behind her head. "You can both start thanking me now."
"Gods, you're the worst," Robin said as he rolled his eyes. Regardless, he gave her a quick hug. "I'm gonna get some fresh air."
"We'll join you in a bit," Alexandria said. "Mimi needs to "heal up," but we're not missing the fireworks show."
Robin nodded, then opened the door as soon as Marceline got back into position. There were two guards standing at the door, both of whom looked suspiciously at Robin as he exited. "Can I ask where you're going, my Lord?"
"I need some fresh air," he said plainly.
"This area is technically off-limits, save for the one exception for your sister."
"Do you want another one of us to faint?"
The guard sighed and gestured to his partner to follow Robin. Robin rolled his eyes as the man armed to the teeth trailed behind him.
"I'm really only planning to watch the fireworks. It'll be quite the boring post," he said as he pushed the doors open, once again letting them fall behind him before the guard could exit himself.
"I'm just doing my duty, milord," the guard said with the typical passive-aggressive lilt in his voice that Robin recognized in all Thalmor.
"Of course you are."
Robin found a place along the veranda overlooking the courtyard, dusted off the snow, and hopped up onto the cold stone fence.
Unlike most nights, the sky was dull and fairly boring this evening. Both moons in their new phase, leaving an emptiness in their place, and the cloudy weather hid away the usual colored canvas of the night sky. But it would only last so long, because soon enough, there would be...
An explosion sounded from the other building, then a yellow light shot high into the air with an extended whoooosh. Higher and higher, until it burst into an array of lights, the sparks gently falling to the ground like bright snowflakes.
The fireworks. Also known as the singular redeeming feature of these damned events. Robin adored them. Even the smell of the smoke that wafted through the air was oddly comforting.
"Can I join you?" Isobel's voice called from behind him.
Great. Just what he needed. "If you must," he muttered, flicking at the snow on his side.
"I noticed you didn't eat much, so I got you a snack." Beside him, she placed a small plate of food. Mostly sliced fruit—apples, grapes, a few carrot sticks, but there was also a sweetroll and honey nut treat.
"Thanks," he said plainly, but made no move to grab any food for himself.
He could feel his mother's eyes on him, but he kept his own focused on the fireworks above.
"I know what that was all a lie, you know," she whispered.
The statement caught him off guard, and he turned to look at her, shocked. "When did you figure it out?"
"When Marceline started whispering to you at the party."
Robin flushed, and he hoped his mother would blame it on the cold air.
"Wanna know a secret?"
He nodded.
"I hate those parties too," she admitted in a quiet voice, such that the guard standing watch across the veranda couldn't hear. "It's why I finished my business there and insisted I check on Mimi again. I knew she didn't need it, but every other person in that room is a snake."
Robin was once again taken aback by his mother's words. "So you're where Mimi gets her acting skills from?"
Isobel laughed. "I suppose I must be."
"Why, then?" He asked. "Why do you put up with these functions at all?"
She sighed and began drawing shapes in the snow. "You know how it is with these people. One wrong move and you're gone. Staying in their favor is the only way for us to keep our heads above water."
"Then why put up with me?" The question came quietly, his voice barely audible over the loud bangs of the fireworks above them.
She furrowed her brows and stepped closer. "Just what are you on about?"
He didn't want to go explaining himself, but he supposed he was backed into a corner here. "Everyone here thinks of me as some lowly thief. Maybe I was always meant to be. We aren't exactly cut from the same cloth, so what's in it for you to care?"
Isobel's expression hardened, her concern replaced with determination. "Robin," she sighed, grasping his hand. "Our family is the only thing left that I care about. You're the reason I do any of this. Don't go doubting what you mean to me."
Despite all his desire to believe that, his heart wouldn't allow him. He could only offer her a small hum in return, not meeting her gaze. He felt a kiss to the back of his hand, then the feeling of it being pressed against his mother's forehead. The gesture, warm and familiar and so reminiscent of a home he never got to know, made him smile.
"I love you, understand?" his mother said, firmly. He was familiar with the tone all too well, but it usually came with a sense of anger behind it. He liked this more. The words felt not like a gentle cradle, but a tight hug, and it felt right.
"I know," he said. And no matter how awful his mood, or how terrible the fight they had gotten into, he would always say, "I love you too."

Marci brainrot hours??👀👀 tell! How is our girl getting a makeover?👀
!!!! so remember the time I told u how each of the silver-blood kids has a patron deity of sorts that their personalities are based around? alexi's is namira (and vaguely hircine), robin's is nocturnal, and for a long while, marceline's was dibella. but I kept getting stuck on how to make that engaging and interesting so I'm thinking of changing it to a daedric prince! rn my mind is on mehrunes dagon bc I do like the idea of honing in on her ambitious side. namely bc it'd give me a good reason to give her a major role in the uprising. I'm still working out the details but I was literally planning on dumping ideas in ur dm's abt it anyway so you'll be one of the first to hear abt it when I'm set on smthn specific 😌

yeSSss im very glad you did the ask game i saw it and thought about your kids- im gonna do a lot bc i love them feel free to ignore any if theres too many JSHDHSD
🌹, 🌻, and 🌱for Robin!
🌷 and 🌈 for Isobel
☁️ and ☘ for Alexi and Marci!
🌙 and 🌳 for anyone in the tribe!
YOURE TOO NICE FOR INDULGING ME LIKE THIS SKFJSKLDJF, LOVE U BESTIE <3
🌹: what is robin's biggest fear?
ooo this is a fun one!! i think it's being shunned by his family. he kinda knows he was never meant for the life he was born into, and he never fit in with anyone in his social class except his sisters. he butts heads with his mom all the time, and he feels like he has little to no connection with his dad. he kinda has this feeling of, "how can they love me if they don't even like me?" so he's just sort of expecting the situation to blow up.
🌻: what is robin's mental health state?
could be better, could be worse! he definitely has a lot of anger issues that he has trouble containing, and he suffers a lot from bouts of depression just because of how out of place he feels. it got a lot worse when alexi left. even though he supported her decision, she was half his support system (the other being marci) so he didn't handle it well. and of course, he and his siblings have a genetic predisposition to anxiety and insomnia from his mother's side, so he's struggled with those all his life.
🌱: does robin have any pets? does he want any?
i don't think the family has any pets but he definitely would like one! he strikes me as a cat person, but i can also see him being into birds. he'd totally be the sort of person to feed the crows around the city and ends up well liked among them to a point that they leave him shiny gifts.
🌷: how does isobel take her coffee?
she would only drink it socially (ex: if they have guests over that brought coffee beans from their native land as a gift). for the most part it makes her too twitchy and anxious to drink regularly. she does like lavender and chamomile tea with warm milk because it helps her rest!
🌈: what does isobel like and dislike abt herself?
she kinda knows that she can be pretty underhanded and clever and she likes that because she can use it to make sure she and her family are safe, whenever she can at least.
she dislikes the fact that she's a very stubborn and righteous person, because she finds it conflicts so much with her desire to protect her family. her kids very much inherited this trait of hers, and it's why they're so difficult to manage. it frustrates her to no end because she knows they would put themselves in danger if they felt it was the right thing to do. she wishes she were just a little more selfish, and she wishes they were too.
☁️: what is lexi's clothing style like?
very traditional !! she makes her armor herself, usually out of hides and leather. it's a religious thing; creating your armor from the pelts of prey you've hunted is a way of earning hircine's favor. same goes for the feathers and bones she adorns herself with. if it wasn't a handmade gift, it was something she made herself. she's very proud of it! it also gives her room to make her armor how she likes it rather than rely on anyone else. she likes her outfit to be free-flowing and light and not restricting at all.
☁️: what is marci's clothing style like?
when she isn't forced to wear her fancy dresses, i think she prefers simple mage robes! she's not one for a lot of flashy things, but she does like to embroider pretty patterns into her robes to give them a personal touch.
☘: does alexi have or want piercings?
other than her ears, i don't think so! when she isn't on a mission, she definitely likes wearing dangly, handmade bone earrings. she likes the way they clink together lol.
☘: does marceline have any piercings?
i think she had to get her ears pierced when she started working at the temple because she's expected to be adorned in all sorts of beautiful accessories. she doesn't hate it, but she doesn't love it either. if she had a choice, she'd just let the piercings close up.
🌙: does anyone in the tribe have any unusual hobbies?
esme !! she has synesthesia, so she loves painting the sounds she sees, especially on her automatons that she works with. her armor and her materials are always coated in paints of all colors, but mostly cool tones like blues and purples, but also the occasional pink and red! they mostly turn out to be very rigid patterns, but she'll sometimes draw blocky faces and hearts lol.
🌳: does anyone in the tribe collect anything?
alexi collects bones, teeth, feathers, all sorts of stuff like that! ophelia hoards soul gems bc she uses them a lot, since her main weapon is a staff. and esme collects all sorts of fun dwemer knick knacks, even if they have no use for her research. i like to think she has the dwemer equivalent of a rubix cube that she was convinced for the longest time was some sort of elaborate key before she eventually realized it's a child's toy. she plays with it all the time regardless lol.

what are Alexi and her family's favourite scents and then their signature scent that makes you think of them !
aaaaand do any of them like baking and if yes what is their favourite things to bake? craving cookie dough rn got me thinking about Best Mum Isobel
friendddd hi hello ily <3 tysm for the ask, i never get sick of these lil dudes
alexandria: she smells like the inside of an apothecary which means she either smells like a bucket of troll fat or a meadow of flowers, depending on the day lol. her favorite scents are either juniper (basic, but it reminds her of home!) or the inside of old nordic tombs. the namira worshiper in her adores the smell of rot lol, she finds it invigorating. she does love to bake, but she doesn't get the chance to do it often. when she does, she'll usually bake edible flowers into it. she makes a god tier lavender loaf.
marceline: she loves the smell of paper, so she's definitely the sort to sniff a book when she cracks it open lol. she herself has a very floral scent about her, mostly bc of the time she spends at the temple of dibella. they use a perfume made of crushed flowers and water from the fountain of the temple. as for baking, she doesn't care for it, but she would enjoy doing it with a friend or one of her siblings!
robin: his smell usually just depend on where he's been lingering around. more often than not, he'll find an excuse to go down riverside though, so he often has the scent of silver, smoke, and musty water lingering on him. his favorite scent is that of moss. it's nice and earthy and reminds him of the times he and his sisters would hide away from their responsibilities by hiding out under one of the many bridges around the city, where moss collects. as for baking, he doesn't really care much for it but he'd enjoy sharing the results after.
isobel: she smells a lot like lavender and honey, which are often used in perfumes in skyrim. a lot of her perfumes are gifts from her doting husband so she loves them a lot!! as for baking, she used to really enjoy doing it with her sister ursula bc ursula is a god at baking. she doesn't get the chance to do it often though, mostly bc they have servants that handle the food. i do think she'd really enjoy baking ursula's juniper pie recipe!

Could you tell me something about Robin? Or Lexi? I miss Lexi 😶
PLS YOU'RE TOO SWEET I LOVE U SO MUCH <33 uHH here's a couple little stories abt the three kiddos 😌❤
whenever the hag's cure had excess stock, alexi would mix a bunch of potions into identical bottles (with hidden labels at the bottom), and the three kids would play potion roulette. who's gonna get the health potion and who's gonna suddenly collapse in exhaustion? it's anyone's guess :)
one time marceline, who always had a way with words, was invited to the temple bc people were convinced she'd make a great priestess of dibella. she was super uncomfortable with the idea bc she was never all that fond of the divines (she just pretended to be), so robin and lexi secretly snuck in behind her and released a bunch of baby skeevers they'd caught in the warrens to terrorize the entire temple. marci was not invited back.
one time the twins tagged along with lex to collect ingredients in the rift and a thief tried to mug them bc they clearly looked Rich and Important. robin laughed bc, "we left our packs by the tree there, you could've just darted off with them without alerting us at all." alexi judged his stance bc she could easily knock him off balance with one kick. marceline critiqued his tone bc, "you're holding us at knife-point and you still sound more terrified of us than the other way around." they can tell the guy had fallen on hard times and had no idea what he was doing. they buy him dinner and a drink at the inn. it's an uncle iroh moment. they end up helping him land a job with the khajiit caravan. he still gets really happy when they're in the town he's visiting.

So, I only just started to follow you but I couldn't resist when I saw your main girl. I just love her. So, I'm curious as to how she would be with my Skyrim Gal.
Azirina Kharabbi is a Suthay-raht Khajiit (basically a baby) who is 21 years old and also has the nickname "Moon-Chaser", along with a few other names she chooses to ignore. She came to Skyrim at the age of twelve, having escaped the destruction of her village, ran across the deserts of Elsweyr (chasing the moons) and boarding a ship, giving her alot of trauma. She travelled across Skyrim with one of the many Khajiit caravans until the discovery that she was the last Dragonborn.
She's a sassy little fireball, who is nicknamed "Sabre Kitten" by Farkas (who I paired her with). This is due to the fact she looks as adorable and as timid as a kitten, but will not hesitate to rip your kneecaps out should you insult her or a loved one. That being said, she was easily startled to begin with when she joined the companions, and suffered horrendously with an addiction whilst aiding them. She also keeps a key point of her past secret, trying to hide it from everyone, with the only way to find out about it being seeing a mark on her shoulder.
ask game: send me an ask telling me about one of your oc's and i'll tell you how i think they'd get along with my own oc's (OPEN)
aaa thank you so much, you're so sweet !! i love your oc too omg, the nicknames moon chaser and saber kitten are perfect. i do think alexi would like her but again, alexi is just full of love so that's not surprising lol. i'm gonna actually put this under a read more because god, i just have SO much to say !! i hope you don't mind 😅
alexi travelled all across skyrim as well, both when she was living with her family and after she left home. while a lot of nords, especially nobles, think pretty negatively of khajiit, alexi grew up in a more liberal household where such nonsense wasn't tolerated at all. she and her siblings definitely kept tabs on whether any caravans were visiting town and made a point to check them out every time. anyway, this is a long winded way of saying all three of my silver-blood kiddos almost definitely ran into azirina plenty of times, including when they were young!
azirina is six years younger than alexi, which is around the same age as robin and marceline (alex's siblings). i really like the idea that azirina's caravan visited markarth when she was around thirteen and alexi was nineteen. the three siblings probably took one look at azirina and collectively were like, "new friend? new friend!!" and swept her up into their group immediately. partly because she's just a cutie, but also they've never met a kid at the caravans! of course they're interested in getting to know her!
there's this weird unspoken rule in skyrim about khajiit caravaners entering cities, but given the silver-bloods' status, i think the guards would turn a blind eye to most of what they do. so, if azirina accepts, the siblings would definitely want her to come inside the walls and hang out with them while she's in town. they usually get up to some pretty ridiculous shit (messing with town guards, stupid dares about stealing from the jarl, the kind of stuff only rich kids can get away with if they get caught, y'know?), but i think alexi would be smart enough to know not to get this kid into that kinda trouble, so they tone it down when they're hanging out with azirina. they'd buy her a nice meal and show her the pretty spots around town and play games with her (tag and hide-and-seek are classics, but they also would try to rope her into a game of potion roulette at some point, as a bunch of rowdy ass kids with too much access to their auntie's alchemy supplies are wont to do 💀)
of course, how open azirina is with them is up to you, but the kids would try to make her feel as comfortable and welcome as possible. i feel like after everything the poor girl went through, it would be good for her to have some kids her age around her, especially in a place like skyrim which can be really harsh to khajiit.
edit: OK my 🤡 ass accidentally posted this before i got all my thoughts out so i hope it's ok if i keep going!!
so even if azirina doesn't really open up to the gang early on, they'd be understanding and patient. they might prod a little into her story early on, but if it ever gets uncomfortable for her, they'd back off. i think what would make the atmosphere comfortable is the fact that they always leave room for her to join in and feel heard but they don't pressure her to, y'know?
i don't doubt they'd run into each other for a few days every couple of months, whenever their travels happen to bring them together. usually at markarth, but often times in other cities like solitude, riften, or whiterun which the silver-blood kiddos often visit.
after a few years of this, alexandria leaves home. she's around 22 at the time, and her siblings are 17. assuming azirina kept in contact with them, i'm really curious how you think she'd handle seeing the tensions that would've caused in her friends' lives. i could write a whole ass thesis on this family and how complicated their lives are, especially after alexi leaves, so i won't bore you with the details. but i am curious to hear your thoughts more abt this !!
like how do you think azirina feels about the silver-blood siblings befriending her? does she play along or does it take time for her to open up, if she ever does? would she envy how (seemingly) perfect their family is after she lost hers in such a tragic way? how does her attitude change as she learns more about how they aren't really such a put together family?
i have so many questions!! i'm sorry i went on for so long but i really like azirina and i'd love to know more about her. i feel like there's so much room for really interesting relationships between her and all three siblings. and this is just scratching the surface!! this isn't even getting into her addiction, or what that secret she's keeping is, or whether she and alexi would go off on any adventures together when they're older. there's so much!!
