uhhhhh i wasn't seriously considering doing a part two to miss sunshine, but the one for twenty years later would be so different. i can see Sunshine liking Tess very much. I can see her being the embodiment of Justice in their little trio, and most of all, I see Joel so many shades darker.

Because the Joel who lost Sarah, who kind of lost Tommy, he could never lose Sunshine, too.

He'd rather make the whole world burn and turned to ashes, turn to clouds and darkness, and everything not nice if someone laid a hand on the last person he saw as something good. Joel saw Sunshine kill, maim, rob, beat people to a pulp just like he did, and yet, her hands are the cleanest thing he's ever seen.

Joel post-outbreak is obsessed, and you know what?

Sunshine likes it.

She revels in the way people call him her — and Tess' — attack dog, without knowing just how much he can bite. She's the reason most of the drugs make it inside the QZ, but they still look at him with fear, and how fucking stupid are they, really?

and when choso turns his head their lips are touching, just hovering over each other. and the princess quietly points out that if circumstances were different, choso would be tucking her into bed like this as her husband and not just her guard.

saki-kanade: two characters with a connection to hospitals. they’ve been through hardships, years where they felt disconnected from the world, and considered giving up. but they pushed through, and they’re on the other side of it now. some days are harder than others, but they have a support system now. they push themselves too hard, overworking to the point of exhaustion because they have something to prove. (maybe because of this), they are at first the glue that holds their group together. they are the sun, the light peaking through, that reminds everyone that that there is hope, there is a future for them. as everyone slowly integrates into the group, and they become one whole unit, they start to fade into the background with everyone else. but it’s not a bad thing. it’s a sign that things are better now. they’re still a safe place for everyone in their group, but now instead of always trying to be the shoulder to cry on, they now recognize that sometimes they need comfort too. the friendship is stronger than ever because of it.
