Hi yes, when has CuCan become a comfort ship of mine?

Summary: The woman stood at the edge of the battlefield, panting despite the snow and ice cold wind that swirled around her.

Red and white had once been the colors she had bravely fought under, waving proud above her head as she tore down the enemy.

Now, she had finally met her match. One that truly threatened to destroy her and everything she stood for.

// I got a ask while back asking about cucan but I haven’t used this blog in awhile and I think the ask got ate up so I’m just gonna out my thoughts on it here and just my thoughts ..

Cucan to me I think we’ll it’s cute you know like I can see the appeal to it but a lot of early fandom and well even some now focus a lot on like that one joke about how he confuses him for America and well makes it abusive , really victimizing either Canada or America in that case , this is something more present in early fandoms , it still happens .. and like even when it isn’t..it either focuses mostly on Canada or if it does ever focus on Cuba as a character it’s in a weird fetishy way (especially if it’s nyo Cuba oh my god it’s so fetishy it’s 🤢 )... And like a I get it a lot of Cuba’s content is dependent on this ship fandom wise in terms of creation and well even in canon like while yes we do see him interact with other nations ..I can name like 3 or more appearances that he has with Canada .. he’s a minor character that I don’t think most fans are familiar with mostly because a good chunk of the fan base comes from the anime ... and he shows up there like once so a lot of people don’t exactly have a good idea what his character is like or even a idea of what the culture is like .. like I can understand that but like still sort of doesn’t excuse when people write stuff that well comes off as insensitive in regards to the ship (sometimes a little racist... okay .. mostly a racist ) so that in case makes me go “eh haha no ” sometimes despite the fact that I do ship it like I think , romantically it’s very cute like from the positive stuff I’ve seen like I think there’s definitely some content creators who really know how to make it all fluffy and soft but lately tbh like for me atleast platonic cucan is where it’s at like ,them being absolutely good friends that everyone thinks their dating but their not they are just bro’s gives me some life?? I just wish that this ship wasn’t like .. the “Cuba ship “ like face of the ships involving him .. because there is content creators for .. like other ships involving stuff with him So uh short answer is yeah I like it , when it’s done right (though I would like for some of the same overly used tropes to be changed up a little but I won’t ask for that much with the way this fandom works .. just asking for it to be not racist or fetishy is a lot ), but also wish other ships involving him such as vietcu, amecu, ruscu , Belcu as in like Belarus.. and or with Belgium! Which the latter I’ve seen some cute art for ! or even ships involving him with other Latin Americans like Ecuador or Venezuela got some love , because even though it’s sort of niche because of the nature of his character, content is still content .. like not to sound like a first generation Latino writing my entrance essay for college pero give me some divertsity ya know ? ! If you are gonna have to give me the same ship .. give me something like more to work with ! I wanna see some reversed dynamics , I wanna see some characterization that is more complex then “macho man and uwu baby date “ so cause that’s sort of a disgrace to both their characters... and it actually makes like canon counterparts way more and you know shit is wack if I’m agreeing with whatever the fuck hima said cause , canon is my sandbox and while others rule over their castles of sand with poise and grace I am but a child hurling sand at everyone else , getting sand into himas eyes

Ameripan is a solid 9 on my scale though. I do enjoy the canon interactions they’ve had and I think they’re super adorable together. Personally, I ship their Nyo counterparts together more than I do canonly though! Amelia and Sakura are so good together in my mind.

CuCan is a 5 or 6. I see why people like it, and I do think it’s cute, but it’s not a ship I’ll actively seek out art and fic for, you know?

God there are so many male/male ships I ship so I'll stick with my favs. GerEng, NedCan, AmeLiet, PortEng, Pruk, CuCan. I'd say Fruk, but I see Fran as nonbinary so...

Female/female is a smaller list. I love nyo Canada x Ukraine. But based only on the canon girls and not the nyos, MonUkr, HunUkr, Belgium x Taiwan (don't ask me where this came from, I have no idea, I just think they'd be cute), Seychelles x Taiwan (both seem bubbly and I think they'd get along).

One Problem. I don’t have a document per fic unless it’s a multichapter fic, more like I do 6 or so one-shots in one doc. And I don’t usually choose a title until I wrote everything out.
