Here are some random kinda Gallifrey related headcanons :) To be continued
-Yaz thought she had trouble staying awake through human movies.. She is devastated when she finds out that Gallifreyan films are typically no less than 6 hours
-Sometimes the Doctor finds that there are words that don’t translate from Gallifreyan,, so they invent new words in English. And then get them put in the dictionary.
-(This one is kinda silly/self indulgent) Breasts arent censored on Gallifrey. The fam is gagged the first time the 13th Doctor walked into the TARDIS swimming pool in just trunks. And it’s just not uncommon to see her shirtless in the sweltering engine room.. or in the sauna.. or at alien beaches..

"You don't get to decide when and how your debt is paid!" is such a raw line... like it carries so much weight, ESPECIALLY coming from the Doctor...

not to hot take after pulling a sickie all-nighter again but i do think Doctor/Donna would be a more popular pairing if CTate was and had been a thin 20 to 30 year old. like, i feel like there's some unconscious dismissals happening thanks to her not fitting an expect 'type'
yeah yea 'best mates' and 'siblings energy' are valid reasons not to ship it, but like.... I shipped rose/nine like crazy, the chemistry was so good, but I then felt like ten/rose had 'best mates' and 'siblings' energy, yet the default reading of ten/rose is romantic while the default reading of Donna (and Martha lbr) got set to 'that's his FRIEND, it's never romantic' with a lot more people just. never bothering to look at it from another angle or try to see how anyone could want to see them together.

I haven’t even finished NuWhu, let alone seen Classic or acquired the audio dramas or novels…
And yet…Thoschei is haunting me to madness Tell Tale Heart by Edgar Allen Poe style.

Doctor Who Book Review: Players
Tumblr media
 Summary
Non-Spoilery Review: A story with a fairly strong beginning and a disappointing and boring everything else.
Read More for the Spoilery Section
The Good: I enjoyed Six’s voice for the most part and Peri’s as well. They had a good dynamic (when they were actually on screen together).
The Bleh:
This is basically a love letter to Winston Churchill and in the most boring of ways. It strikes a very NuWhu vibe of having them protect THE MOST IMPORTANT PERSON who is in this rare case, not the Doctor (and thank god for that). Not that Churchill is portrayed without flaws but he’s definitely painted as the Movieesque hero that everyone needs. Even if the things that happened were historically accurate (and I can’t really say if they are or not) it’s not really presented in a way that’s interesting or anything other than aggrandizing the guy.
This book is written by Terrence Dicks, who is a screenwriter and has written episodes of Who—but the fact that he’s a screenwriter shows. This book is very dialogue heavy and the weight of the plot is pushed forward by endless conversations and/or action scenes. There are no actors to give the dialogue any kind of nuance. And some things seem to just be crammed in there because he can and it would look good on a set, like numerous costume changes or action pieces but there’s not a whole lot of life in them. While this doesn’t necessarily equate to a boring book, in this case it does and the last half I skimmed through because I did not care.
I was also very annoyed when Six showed a memory to Peri (in order to further the plot) when he was Two. And it went right into Two’s POV – except it wasn’t deep POV as you’d expect, he was just kind of there. It wasn’t even necessarily his perspective. It could have been interesting or provided some emotional involvement, which this book seriously needed, but no, it was just more things happening to keep the plot going. For me if it had been in Two’s POV it would have been interesting—but as it was, I was not invested. Also it’s marketed as a six book. I want to read about six and what he does and Peri. Not spend seven-ten chapters on two who doesn’t even have companions with him and is missing that chemistry. But we cant have anything taken away from Churchill can we. B|
The Bad:
So the central conceit of this book is the antagonists are immeasurably rich immortal bored beings playing with human history as a game because they are sooo bored. That is such a tired trope and, moreover, these antagonists are given no motivation other than that to play this game. I’m not even sure what IS the game or the point of it. It’s just something there meant to be creepy and chilling because oooh it’s dark can’t you see how dark it is? And the book ends on: All that matters is the Game.
Well freaking why? There are literally no stakes for them if they win or lose. So who cares if they do? The Doctor doesn’t even disrupt or end the game, just gives them a stern talking to and that’s mostly to exposition dump like oooh look at this clever idea. Aren’t you intrigued?
No. I’m not. And all in all it just struck me lazy as hell.
And it might not have been. Because I think as an episode, this would have been interesting. In a visual medium like a show or even a comic it would have been cool to see this.
As a novel? No. I am left annoyed and disappointed and just bored.
I also heard it was a prequel of sorts to something else? Which might explain some things that this is just a grand set up for other things but I don’t even like the set up and don’t really trust him for reading on.
 Conclusion:
Good idea and potential which it fails to live up to. Great for fans of Winston Churchill.
In my canon library?
Sure I guess :/

Ranking 13 Doctor episodes
Risking more karma here but I wanted to shar emy opinions on the 13 doctor episodes. Her season wasn´t great but then again Capaldi´s first wasn´t either, at all.
So let´s roll
The Witchfinders: This is classic nuwhu and I love it. Monsters, a mistery, the doctor running around and beign ridiculously annoying. It´s great.
It takes you away: Another nuwhu classic is having the omnipotent beignscrews everything story. I love this story works for the Whitaker doctor only, 10 and 12th would have lacked the patience to reason with this thing.
Demons of the Punjab: A really nice story about tragedy and how the real demons are hatred and prejudice. Bonus point by the parties involved being all non-white showing that this can happen anywhere and anywhen and that the show maybe preachy but not that much agenda-based...much.
Kerblam!: another one people seem to hate but this is pretty much nuwhu silliness 101. I have no problem with the ending like everyone else does, previous doctor also screw things up at the end while saving the day.
The Woman who fell to Earth: Standard post-regeneration story, nothing special but nothing bad either. I fell in love with her upbeat chatterbox personality right away.
The tsurunga conundrum: I keep seeing people bitching about the pting but man that´s exactly the kind of ridiculous thing doctor who is known for. The episode itself is fine if a bit slow.
Battle of Ranskoor av kolos: as a season finale is a bit of a letdown it does connect the beginning and the end of the season but kinda like capaldi´s feels like an after though and even his was a big two part story. This could have worked better as a mid season one. Still not bad just a bit of a letdown.
Rosa: The episode itself is not bad if a bit slow. It´s biggest problem is being too preachy but then again the moon is pregnant episode anyone?
The Ghost Monument: Sadly a big letdown, feels like the opening act of a bigger story that never happens and it barely connects to the stenza storyline. Plus is kinda lame.
Arachnids in the Uk: sadly the worst one IMO. I love the Doctor in modern london stories but this one sucks, is more busy doing an obvios trump parody and showing every women as being special and never in the wrong (even when one of them royally screwed up) and the Doctor barely does anything.
So there you go, in the light of Netflix saint seiya screw up I wanted to point out that the Whitaker is perfectly fine to me, the characther hasn´t really changed aside from the obvious personality change that happens every regeneration but the show dynamic remains the same and that´s what´s important. The biggest flaw this season was bad pacing since the episodes are too long but that´s about it.
I really hope the big break between seasons wouldn´t cause her to regenerate too soon. This is doing fine it just needs more time but that´s just my opinion.

Pre-relationship they held hands a lot. In big crowds and on new planets. Not the Doctor grabbing her companions hand as much(well, yeah, some of that), but Yaz taking the Doctors hand to make sure she wouldn’t wander off
