Idk if you saw my post explaining but even if you did I’ll answer for anyone who did not lol, and to give a lil update!

I got bitten by a cat at work :’)

And unfortunately cat bites are nasty af, CONSIDERABLY worse than dog bites - dog bites look scary but being bitten by a cat is, in my opinion, more akin to being bitten by a venomous snake. Cats have a LOT of bacteria in their mouths and, while dogs probably do to, cats teeth are much longer and sharper - so their bites are harder and go deeper than dogs usually do (unless you’re like, being mauled). Since their bites go so deep this of course allows AMPLE opportunity for bacteria to be introduced to your bloodstream. Thus, it’s more like being bitten by a venomous animal.

I am honestly a great example of this because my wound was cleaned THREE times, twice with hydrogen peroxide and once with saline. VERY thoroughly if I may add since one time was by my manager who REALLY got in there and I remember that very vividly because it hurt like a bitch, and the time with saline was quite literally a saline flush of my arm in UC where they straight up pumped saline into the wound. And it still got massively infected and spread down to almost my elbow.

ON THE BRIGHT SIDE THO-

The bite didn’t get anywhere near my bones, my tendons are all a-ok, and whatever antibiotics they’re giving me in the hospital are definitely working because the redness has now gone from almost down to my elbow - to just condensed around one of the three puncture marks on my arm. Unfortunately I still don’t know when I’m going home - I thought my last round of antibiotics was last night but I guess they’re still giving me more tonight? And also wanted a pregnancy test? I’m a bit confused right now but aside from some confusion, the IV in my hand, my arm being sore af and the fact that I haven’t showered in almost a full week - I’m doing pretty ok XD

And on a funnier note: The cat who put me in the hospital is named. Jingles. He was a very angry elf :/

Ngl I think I’ve pretty much come to terms with it now, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t spend a solid chunk of the day going through the 5 stages of grief. It does still sting to think about.

And I don’t have a million and one asks in my inbox that I have to worry about catching up on, and I don’t have to worry about cleaning out my 9 year old following list because it’s a total blank slate now 😅

I know I’ll bounce back and I know it’s not the end of the world. This is just a blip in the grand scheme of my life, and years and years from now who knows if I’ll even still be on here. But yeah, it was pretty soul crushing seeing all my work just…. Vanish into thin air.

Not to be grossly invasive but since you brought it up: hospital baths are a thing. It's super awkward but ask a nurse, I promise it's okay. They've got these special body wipes for dry baths and while they're not the real thing they're pretty good.

Like for example, I don’t like ordering food before the doctor arrives because I wanna focus on talking to the doctor and not be distracted by eating - so I won’t usually eat until the doctor comes in to talk to me.

Last time I did talk to the doctor, he said I was definitely going home SOMETIME this week - so at this point I’m like…. Idk may as well stay gross yknow? Saves me some awkwardness, and then when I get home I can enjoy my shower and post shower ritual to the fullest <3
