Although Zinfandel is one of the most popular wine grapes grown in California, (and for a while thought to be native to the US), it’s origins are in Croatia where it’s known as Tribidrag. I received this Lodi George Phillips Cellars Zinfandel in a shipment from Wine Insiders. After a quick splash decanting and swirling, the wine started really expressing itself. A bouquet of chocolate covered black cherries, vanilla, and pepper rushed up to the nose and palate. Medium to long spicy finish.
